Via: Retail Customer Experience
As our 2016 Retail Future Trends Report revealed, 2016 was once again a year of innovation amid a
competitive time for retailers that are online, offline and moving into the omnichannel realm. Mobile,
as well as data analytics and Internet of Things (IoT), hit home with retailers striving to drive a better
customer experience.
Consumers still are focused on a retailer’s website for product research; however, as this Top 100
report illustrates, they’re also increasingly using smartphones and other mobile devices.
The trends data revealed 35 percent of consumers believe it is very important for a retailer to have
both a brick-and-mortar and online presence. That consumer expectation may be a big reason
Amazon, which again took home the top honor in this Top 100 survey, is moving into the brick-andmortar
realm after over two decades of pure e-commerce strategy.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2. AMAZON
Amazon is known for its disruption of well-established industries
through technological innovation and mass scale.
It is the world's largest online marketplace, AI assistant provider,
and cloud computing platform as measured
by revenue and market capitalization.
Amazon is the largest Internet company by revenue in the world.
It is the second largest private employer in the United States and
one of the world's most valuable companies.
3. AMAZON LOGISTICS
In simple words, Amazon Logistics is more of “last mile”
shipping & delivery service, which gets packages delivered
to their customers. So, it does the same work that national
postal services like Royal Mail, USPS, and commercial
carriers such as UPS & FedEx do.
However, Amazon Logistics isn’t a big corporation like FedEx.
It is a technology-driven marketplace or network, like Uber,
where Amazon is the buyer of delivery services, and
independent delivery services and individuals are the suppliers.
4. Amazon Logistics was launched in 2015 with two objectives in mind:
Make their customers happy
Lessen the shipping time
If you thought that Prime was an astounding idea, then you actually haven’t experienced the excitement
of virtual shopping and having the ordered arrived to your customers within 2 hours yet and that too on
Sundays.
The infrastructure of Amazon Logistics can either sabotage or help third-party sellers. It can
considerably improve their capability to serve lots of customers and provide faster delivery. But if not
done executed correctly, it can hurt their feedback or ratings to a great extent.
The result differs from one seller to the other, and it all comes down to how every seller uses the
Amazon Logistics program wisely and how proactive he or she in the approach.
As a seller, if you want to ensure that you are getting the most out of Amazon Logistics, without
damaging your reputation or sales in the process, then, let’s look at it from all perspectives.

6. ZOMATO
Zomato is an Indian restaurant aggregator and food delivery start up founded by
Deepinder Goyal in 2008. Zomato provides information, menus and user-reviews of
restaurants, and also has food delivery options from partner restaurants in select cities.
As of 2019, the service is available in 24 countries and in more than 10,000 cities.
Zomato was founded as Foodiebay in 2008. It was renamed Zomato in 2010. In 2011,
Zomato expanded across India to Delhi
NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and Kolkata. Subsequently, in 2012, the
company expanded operations internationally in several countries like the United Arab
Emirates, Sri Lanka, Qatar, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, and South Africa. In
2013, Zomato was launched in New Zealand, Turkey, Brazil and Indonesia, with its
website and apps available in Turkish, Brazilian
Portuguese, Indonesian and English languages. Further in April 2014, Zomato launched
its services in Portugal, followed by launches in Canada, Lebanon and Ireland in the
same year.
7. ZOMATO’S FOOD DELIVERY BUSINESS
The company had reported food ordering revenues of $9 million for the financial year ended
31st March 2017 (FY17), around 8 times of FY16.
In its earnings conference call last year, Deepinder Goyal had said that there are three players
in restaurant food delivery in India, and he doesn’t think they have more than 6 to 9 months
left; this was in response to a question about the few food delivery players which had faced
issues in 2015.
During its call for earnings in FY16, Goyal told that 7% of Zomato’s revenue in India was
coming from its food delivery business, and the monthly growth rate in order business at that
time was at 30% with a daily average of 25,000-26,000 orders. At that time, of all the
orders, 80% were delivered by restaurants, and 20% were delivered by Zomato
through its logistics partners.
8. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE IN THE MARKETING
STRATEGY
Strong Brand name
Zomato has been effectively creating a brand name that resonates trust and
convenience. There has been the number of entrants in this market like Food Panda
and Uber eats but they will have to work extensively on their brand value in order
to be able to compete with Zomato.
Focus on Technology
The biggest advantage Zomato has over its customers is its beautifully designed
User interface. It is attractive and very easy to browse and this has helped create a
pint of differentiation from its competitors.
Good Promotional strategy
Z is one of the few companies to have been successful in the content market and
uses images to promote its products. Zomato ensures that its contents stay fresh and
has invested vastly on SME’s and SEOs.
Customer Loyalty
Zomato creates innovative schemes that keep the customers engaged. The Zomato
Gold which is an exclusive membership loyalty program that gives customers an
exclusive dine out and drinking membership with BOGO( Buy One, Get One) and
2+2 complimentary drinks.

10. DELL
Dell Inc., which operates under the brand name Dell, is an
American multinational computer technology company that
develops, sells, repairs, and supports computers and related
products and services.
Named after its founder, Michael Dell, the company is one of
the largest technological corporations in the world, employing
more than 145,000 people in the U.S. and around the world
(Annual report 2018).
11. Dell sells personal computers (PCs), servers, data storage devices, network switches, software,
computer peripherals, HDTVs, cameras, printers, MP3 players, and electronics built by other manufacturers. The
company is well known for its innovations in supply chain management and electronic commerce, particularly its
direct-sales model and its "build-to-order" or "configure to order" approach to manufacturing—delivering
individual PCs configured to customer specifications. Dell was a pure hardware vendor for much of its existence,
but with the acquisition in 2009 of Perot Systems, Dell entered the market for IT services. The company has since
made additional acquisitions in storage and networking systems, with the aim of expanding their portfolio from
offering computers only to delivering complete solutions for enterprise customers.
Dell was listed at number 51 in the Fortune 500 list, until 2014. After going private in 2013, the newly confidential
nature of its financial information prevents the company from being ranked by Fortune. In 2015, it was the third
largest PC vendor in the world after Lenovo and HP. Dell is the largest shipper of PC monitors worldwide. Dell is
the sixth largest company in Texas by total revenue, according to Fortune magazine. It is the second largest non-oil
company in Texas – behind AT&T – and the largest company in the Greater Austin area. It was a publicly traded
company (NASDAQ: DELL), as well as a component of the NASDAQ-100 and S&P 500, until it was taken
private in a leveraged buyout which closed on October 30, 2013.
In 2015, Dell acquired the enterprise technology firm EMC Corporation; following the completion of the purchase,
Dell and EMC became divisions of Dell Technologies.
12.
13. LOGISTICS
Dell’s inbound logistics for materials needed to fabricate PCs

the exact order to exact customer at right delivery time or
day given by Dell which on the whole helps to increase
customer satisfaction.
