Challenges and Strategies of Financing the Higher Education in India.pptxShrutiMahanta1
Financing higher education in India can be a significant challenge for both students and the government. The cost of higher education includes tuition fees, living expenses, books, and other educational resources. Financing higher education in India poses several challenges, both for the government and for individuals. These challenges stem from various factors, including the size and diversity of the country, economic disparities, and the increasing demand for quality education.
The higher educational institutions are expanding rapidly due to the extensive demand for higher education. The private higher educational institutions gather enough financial provisions with the higher fee structures, but the governmental institutions are struggling for money. It is not possible for the Government agencies to provide financial support to each and every higher educational institutions.
Rising cost of infrastructures: The expenses on buildings, equipment, infrastructures, stationary etc., are increasing day by day and they are very important for quality education.
The private costs of education vary from course to course and the socio-economic standards of the students are also different from students to students. The HE institutions lacks policies to meet these kinds of issues which create hindrance in providing quality education to all.

4. What is University?
A university is an institution of higher education and
research which awards academic degrees in various
academic disciplines. Universities typically provide
undergraduate education and postgraduate education.
5. Universities in Bangladesh are mainly categorized into
three different types:
Public (government owned universities)
Private (private sector owned universities)
International (operated and funded by international
organizations )
6. Private University: A private university is an
independent institute that sets its own policies
and goals, and is privately funded. Private
universities are generally smaller than public.
Public University: A public university is a
university that is predominantly funded by
public means through a national or sub-
national government, as opposed to private
universities.
7. Advantages of public university:
Reputed institution.
Low tuition fee.
An institution of meritorious students.
Qualified teachers.
Large Campus.
Hostel facilities inside campus.
Certificate is comparatively valuable in job market.
8. Disadvantages of public university:
Session jam.
Active politics.
It takes more than 3-6 months to publish the
results of an exam.
Huge number of students in a classroom
Teachers do not take class regularly
Governing body fails to control because of large
number of students.
9. No session jam.
No student politics
Totally English medium.
It takes 3-7 days to publish the results of an exam.
Follows international grading and semester system.
There is make up class for hartal days or missing
classes.
Qualified teachers & active career counseling
department.
One can use computer (MS office, power point) to
prepare projects and assignments as well as
multimedia presentation.
Advantages of private university:
10. Disadvantages of Private University:
Very high tuition fee.
Small and rented campus.
Not highly reputed.
Limited time for courses.
A lot of low caliber students get admitted in
private university.
There are many low quality private universities
around us.
11. We are against the opinion on "All Universities of
Bangladesh Should be turned to Private."
So, why we are against it?
1. Most of our people are middle class, so they can not
afford the tuition fee of a private university. But
education is the basic fundamental right, so
everyone deserves a higher education.
2. Private universities does not have a variety of
subjects or faculties because they did not get any
kind of donation from the government.
3. University is a place for research and donation keeps
it running. Lack of fund from the government will
surely block the progress.
12. 4. Most of the private universities are trimester based,
so the students does not get enough time to complete
their syllabus thus they lack the knowledge of that
course.
5. There are less time in a trimester based system, so
students always stays in a rush and does not get the
time to relax.
6. Sadly in the case of Bangladesh, the education
system is becoming more and more commercial than
a learning institute. By becoming private it may
boost up the commercial purpose.
