What have you heard about Agile? Trying to decide if Scrum or Kanban is a better approach for your particular team? Are you asking yourself if functions outside of Application Development, such as Marketing, Ux Design, Infrastructure, benefit from Agile techniques? Do you want to know some basic, but powerful, concepts to approaching your release cycle? Do you have complex dependencies or fit in a non-agile PMO environment but want to be agile?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, join us for a webinar walking through these key concepts:
· Agile is not just a framework for software development, it is a way of thinking that can span the business
· Agile gives a more clearly understood measure of progress than traditional Status Reports or Project Plans
· Agile can be done within structured, well-defined PMO processes
· Agile improves the ability to manage Customer and Stakeholder Expectations
We will also discuss some high-level similarities and differences between Scrum and Kanban along with recommendations to incorporate both into your overall strategy, even when your enterprise-at-large needs to continue some projects using a traditional plan-driven approach.
cPrime's latest Agile Meetup discussion will center around methods for how to monitor and validate the performance of agile.
Many firms that have been doing agile can not determine how or if it has had an impact on the company. Agile expert, Jeff Howey will discuss ways to evaluate agile performance. Join our webinar to learn how to identify the benefits of agile and uncover the differences between companies that exhibit "agile-like" behavior and highly functioning teams.

Learning for the Extended Enterprise: Leveraging Your Value ChainHuman Capital Media
Companies are increasingly realizing their own business results are impacted not only by their own employees, but also by the employees and individuals across their value chain. These suppliers, partners, distributors, subcontractors, resellers and customers are referred to as the extended enterprise. Investing in learning that ensures better informed and better trained employees and customers across this extended enterprise is a critical business strategy necessary to compete successfully in today's highly competitive environment.
In this webinar, Lance Dublin, an industry expert and dynamic webinar leader, will discuss how to describe the extended enterprise for your organization and identify where learning can add the most value. He will review mini-case studies of organizations who are involved in these initiatives and summarize the key insights from their successes and mistakes. And finally he will identify five critical steps you can and should take to be successful in leveraging learning across your extended enterprise.
The research scope statement indicated that the directors of the Global Sustainability Certificate program would like to better define their target market and fine tune the message strategies to obtain the best “bang for the buck”.

The Role of Project Professionals Creating Agile Organisations - PMI UK Agile...Andrea Darabos
What is the role of project professionals in creating more agile organisations? How do traditional PMI roles - project manager, program manager, PMO manager, portfolio manager - change as a company adopts more agile ways of working? What is servant leadership? How can we build and maintain self-organising teams? How can an organisation move from project based agile delivery to a more lean approach, based on continuous flow of value via value streams? How does project and portfolio governance change in an agile evolution? We are going to answer these questions based on the personal experience of the author working with agile teams and program offices in 8 countries.

How to Break Down Marketing Silos to Improve Collaboration and AlignmentG3 Communications
For years, organizations have been challenged with departmental silos that prevent them from communicating with their customers in a coherent and clear voice. The ascendancy of social media and the marketing department's failure to make it a measurable revenue producer has only accented this problem.
Many marketers are still trying to figure out where social belongs and how to measure it, while still managing traditional disciplines.
In this Marketing in the Round webinar, Gini Dietrich (who wrote the book with Geoff Livingston) discusses how to break down organizational silos, how cultural shifts and reward systems empower integration across marketing disciplines, how to get executive buy-in and incentivize action, and how to build your own marketing round.
Using SAFe to Manage U.S. Government Agencies, Portfolios, & Acquisition Prog...David Rico
Highly-practical overview of the growth of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) 4.5 for managing multi-billion dollar U.S. Government portfolios of Petabyte-Scale Cloud-Computing Data Center-based Repositories. Starts with a brief definition and overview of portfolio management, agile timelines, government adoption, sample of competing lean and agile frameworks, and then goes into a deep-dive and cross examination of SAFe 4.5's major anatomical elements. Focuses on principles of lean and agile portfolio management, leadership, business value, and, more importantly the lean and agile value system itself. Clears up nagging misconceptions concerning SAFe, like it’s undeserved reputation as a heavy, unproven WIP-intensive traditional framework (by focusing on lean and agile thinking, practical real-world business value, and the softer principles of the agile manifesto like conversations, visualizations, flexibility, simplicity, and continuous improvement).

Scrum Master & Agile Project Manager: A Tale of Two RolesTommy Norman
Many people equate the role of Scrum Master to that of a traditional Project Manager, but there are both subtle and significant differences between them. So what is the difference and why do we care?
This presentation will explore the differences between these two roles and the underlying implications to your company’s Agile adoption. We will discuss the concept of little “a” agile (mostly iterative development and some Agile-like mechanics) versus big “A” Agile (more of a true shift in culture and focus on teams/value) and when we would choose one or the other.
So if you are confused about what a Scrum Master does, what the heck an Agile PM is, or are sick and tired of your team telling you that you’re not adopting Agile correctly, this presentation is or you!
The Agile Method and AGILE ISD; how to use each to improve your training programChristopher King
The term "agile" is being used readily to express the desire organizations have to be responsive and flexible to change in their organization. The Agile development method is designed to quickly and efficiently produce software products. Recently its application has expanded to other areas including training products. AGILE ISD is a new way of thinking about education where performance is the metric that drives the development and delivery decisions in an organization’s training program. It recognizes the long tail of learning and the five moments of learning need. AGILE ISD provides strategies for creating a culture of learning at your organization.
While these two agile methods are for different purposes, they are not mutually exclusive. This session will explain how your organization can use both methods to your advantage and success. We clarify some of the different uses of the term agile within the learning and development community. In this session we will cover:
• Agile (software) movement - its history, its main tenets, different types of agile frameworks and how to incorporated into the ADDIE training methodology
• AGILE ISD – is a methodology developed by Dr. Conrad Gottfredson that aims to supplement ADDIE by expanding its scope to include informal learning design. We cover its history, its main tenants, principles of agile education, and incorporating AGILE ISD into the ADDIE training methodology
• How the two approaches can both be successfully applied in your L&D organization

The Role of Project Manager in Modern Agile ProjectsVersionOne
Many groups adopting an agile development approach fail in ways that can be traced back to the missing project manager role. In other words, they didn't understand what good project managers do in the first place. In this webinar, Dr. Cockburn starts from ten critical project success factors, relates those to PMI project phases and to the overall value and purpose of a project manager.
I normally teach Introduction to Agile and Scrum over a 2 day session to teams. Here is a highly condensed 2-hour version of it that covers agile thinking and introduces scrum as a framework without getting into details.
I use it as a course material for teaching to teams or groups looking to get a perspective on "why" as opposed to "how" aspect of agile.
What exactly is the role of a project manager? There are lot of responsibilities that a project manager has to fulfill. Here is a high level overview of the expectations from the project manager.

In current turbulent economic times, we experience increasing pressure on IT efficiency and quality. Although IT hasn’t yet been part of the core business of all industries, it is (or could soon become) a crucial factor of business success in many industries today.
AvePoint - Managing the SharePoint Disruptiongarthluke
Managing the SharePoint Disruption. Ensuring your business gain exceeds your business pain.
In many organisations, SharePoint is a disruptive technology: it’s no longer business-as-usual for managers, for users, or for IT. SharePoint shines a spotlight on everything that’s good and bad about your company’s business processes, project management, change management, information management policies and IT service delivery.
This presentation will explore the lessons learned and common themes from thousands of organisations, large and small - from IT professionals, managers, developers, end users and CIOs around the globe. This comprehensive discussion will highlight the business, cultural and technical impact of SharePoint on an organisation - the business values and the “gotchas”. You’ll learn the steps you can take to plan for and implement SharePoint as a platform that will support a dynamic enterprise.
You will take away a framework within which to understand and communicate the role of SharePoint in your organisation, a punch list of issues to consider in your planning and deployment and an understanding of the business, technical, cultural and procedural components of a successful SharePoint implementation.
The real danger is not in failure but mediocrity. What separates the best firms from the average firms? What are the critical success factors used in the largest CPA firms that can make even the small firm thrive in this chaotic environment? You will learn about the five R's ROA (return on attention), ROL (learning), ROC (culture) and ROI, ROP (Return on People) and how you can apply them to your firm.
This is preso on High Performance CPA Firms presented on Nov 5 & 6, 2012 at the CCH User Conference
Although DevOps practices deliver incredible benefits to organizations looking to improve their software delivery practices, the larger positive impact of DevOps to delivering value is often harder to realize. A set of practices we’ve found to help organizations is something we call the 4 Maps of DevOps.
Fitting nicely in between the 3 ways and 5 ideals, the 4 maps consist of Outcome Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, Dependency Mapping and Capability Mapping. They help you create a powerful roadmap that is outcomes-focused and targeted at the most important problems.
Through this talk, I’ll walk through the benefits these maps produce, how they relate to one another and the problems you can target with them. I’ll go through some real-life examples of using these maps to help organizations.
This talk is for anybody who is struggling to work out where to start or where to go next with their adoption of DevOps.

Transitioning to Scrum is not easy, and for many, distributed teams are the most difficult to manage. In trying to make Scrum work with a geographically dispersed team, increasing efficiency requires adjustments to processes and effective communication and collaboration.
This webinar will provide guidance for proper planning and managing, in order to get your distributed teams working smoothly throughout the scrum processes. Dr. Kevin Thompson, cPrime’s Agile Practice Lead, will address key issues such as:
• How to have scrum meetings for distributed teams (daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective)
• How to cope with time-zone differences
• How to cope with language differences
• Best practices for collaborating in a distributed team
• Best practices for tools that mitigate distributed team impact
Join us for a highly interactive and customized Agile Webinar that will uncover the most prominent, common and troubling roadblocks experienced by organizations trying to adopt agile and will offer solutions to overcome these obstructions!

Curious about Continuous Integration? Tune in!
Continuous Integration (CI), which is a big part of continuous delivery, is the concept of continuously building and testing software using an automated process. We have learned that utilizing CI could help us catch bugs earlier, enable better visibility, reduce repetitive processes, enable the development team to produce deployable products at a moment's notice, and reduce risk overall.
These slides will identify the various levels of continuous integration and delivery with regards to a release maturity of the development team or parent organization.
Advocates of agile development claim that agile software projects succeed more often than plan-driven projects. Unfortunately, attempts to validate this claim statistically are problematic, because "success" is not defined consistently across studies. This paper addresses the question through a mathematical analysis of these projects. We model agile and plan-driven software projects with identical requirements, and show how they are affected by the same set of unanticipated problems. We find that that the agile project provides clear benefits for return-on-investment and risk reduction, compared to the plan-driven project, when uncertainty is high. When uncertainty is low, plan-driven projects are more cost-effective.
Increase productivity and improve the predictability of software projects. Interest in the Scrum Agile process framework is exploding as companies discover that Scrum enables them to manage software projects with greater reliability and improve responsiveness to customers. This class introduces the skills that project managers and team leaders need to perform the basic steps of a Scrum process for software development.
-Learn how Scrum practices relate to project management fundamentals
-Learn the essentials of Scrum as a software development process
-Learn the three Scrum roles, three Scrum meetings, and three Scrum artifacts
-Project Managers and team leads learn basic planning, tracking, and management skills
-Product Managers learn how to develop and prioritize requirements
-Team members learn how to estimate and break down work

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.

When asked “Did your project succeed?” – of 50,000 projects, less than 1 in 3 were “successful” based on the criteria of “on time, on budget, with the requested functionality.” Nearly 1 in 5 were flat-out failures and were canceled/never implemented.Over ½ were “challenged” in some way. For those that were late in delivery, the median shows that they took twice as long as estimated (100% OVER the estimated time). For those that were over budget, the median shows they cost 1.5x as much as budgeted. Most projects fell into one or more of 4 reasons cited as resulting in projects not delivering “as expected:” Late, Over Budget, Lacking Functionality, Low Quality
** Notebook Question 11-12Epicyclic:Consisting of nested cycles. Scrum, XP, and CBPM are epicyclic. These processes are used for environments where uncertainty about requirements and effort is high, and especially when useful production capabilities can be delivered incrementally.Summarize different phases and cycles.Inception: Includes startup work that must be done before the specified process can start. Inception occurs when starting a new product or service from scratch. It is not a part of the (iterative) work of creating multiple releases of a product over time. Vision: Define concept for product.Roadmap: Long term plan, for one to a few years. Includes major milestones at a summary level, and spans multiple Releases or Projects.Release or Project:A medium-term (weeks to months) span of time, at the end of which results are delivered to customers. Includes fine- to medium-grained specifications of product functionality.Iteration: A short term (1-6 weeks) period spent developing functionality, for which all requirements are fine-grained and directly implementable in this span of time without further decomposition.Day: A single day may have any activities, as required, and involves fluid and dynamic collaboration among Team members to get work done.Termination: This refers to all activities associated with shutting down a Project. It is the same thing as the PMI Closing Process Group.====Note: Inception and Termination are rare occurrences in agile / Scrum projects, because the default mode of working is to continue adding capabilities and deliverables to an existing set, not to start and finish distinct projects frequently.
** Notebook Question 4Most agile processes include planning, but not all. The most popular agile process is Scrum, which is an iterative process that divides the calendar into short iterations called Sprints. In each Sprint, a Team starts and finishes implementation and testing of several small requirements. Scrum is not tied to any industry, and can be used for any project for which its characteristics are well-suited.Scrum is used in environments where plan-driven processes are inappropriate, because they have high uncertainty around requirements and effort which make plan-driven schedules unreliable. Instead of defining scope and estimating schedule, Scrum defines schedule (such as a Sprint) and estimates the scope that fits into it. Scrum optimizes risk mitigation (through completing work quickly) over efficiency.A Scrum process does not have planning and execution phases. Planning (for future Sprints) is done in parallel with implementation work (in the present Sprint).
Kanban omits planning, and focuses on prioritization, tracking, and optimizing throughput. It is commonly employed in production support, Information Technology departments, hospital Emergency Rooms (as “triage”), and in any environment where work items are not known in advance.Kanban originated in manufacturing, and was adapted for software development. “Kanban” is a Japanese word meaning “signboard,” and in manufacturing refers to a signal indicating that some action should be performed. The use of signals to request action is consistent with the “pull” nature of projects or processes in which Kanban is generally employed.A Kanban project has no phases associated with starting or ending a project. All work is handled the same way, as tasks that flow through states.
Story A2 depends on Milestone1, which occurs early in Sprint 1. A2 starts in Sprint 1, after Milestone1.Task1 depends on A1, starts in Sprint 2 after A2 completesMilestone2 depends on Task1, occurs in Sprint 2. B5 depends on Milestone2, but can’t start until Sprint 3.A3 depends on B2, starts in Sprint 2 after B2 is completeDependent pieces of projects are timed to release together at the end of Sprint 3.
