How To Network Effectively And Create Genuine ConnectionsForbes
Does the word "networking" make you feel gross? That's because you're doing it all wrong.
We all know networking is essential, but how do you actually do it?
In this webinar presentation Eric Barker, author of Barking Up The Wrong Tree: The Surprising Science Behind Why Everything You Know About Success Is (Mostly) Wrong, explains how to build your network — without feeling fake.
These slides are for a talk I gave at the Alpha Leadership Week in London on 13 May 2013. I focussed on 'leading from the middle'. We also talked about 'EXPOSED - Shining a light on corruption' http://www.exposed2013.com and Unashamedly Ethical http://www.unashamedlyethical.com You can find the video that is referenced in slide two here <https: />
How To Build Confidence and Lead Yourself to Career SuccessForbes
Don't leave your confidence to chance. Self-development begins with fostering the courage to lead. During this webinar presentation, Angie Morgan, co-author of 'SPARK: How to Lead Yourself and Others to Greater Success,' explains how to manage your internal thought process to develop the confidence you need to succeed.
At Officevibe, we end our daily standup meetings with an inspirational quote to start the day on a positive note.
Whoever’s turn it is to speak holds a basketball, and the last one to speak has to come up with a quote of the day.
Everyone puts their finger on the ball, and when the quote is said, the ball gets thrown up in the air and we all say “think about it”, as a reminder to really let the hidden meaning of the quote sink in.
Attitude Management, Importance of Attitude, What is Attitude, Winners Vs Losers, Factors that determine Attitude, Features of Attitude, Characteristics of Attitude, Functions of Attitude, Components of Attitude, Kinds of Attitude, Positive Attitude, Benefits of Positive Attitude, Negative Attitude, Consequences of Negative Attitude, Steps to Change Attitude, Attitude is Everything.
This was a presentation prepared by me for a seminar addressing around 100 people. Though some slides are self-explanatory, some are to be explained with discussions.

8 characteristics of successful leadership
1. 8 CHARACTERISTICS OF
SUCCESSFUL LEADERSHIP
Simple thoughts leaders need to embrace and empower to be successful
in today’s business workplace.
TLG-RWME - 2015
1
2. WHY THESE 8 CHARACTERISTICS?
• The late Wayne Dyer, John Maxwell, Zig Ziglar, Bob Proctor and many others
have expanded on the work of James Allen, Dale Carnegie and Napoleon
Hill to give us some great leadership material.
• This list seems very subjective in most people’s mind but I truly believe it is the
core necessary to affect major changes in existing companies.
• People are starving for integrity, authenticity and commitment and each of
these incorporates some level of each to work well.
• To use these Characteristics, review each, understand your view and
commitment levels to each one then implement.
TLG-RWME - 2015
2
3. 1. YOU CAN’T GIVE AWAY WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE!
• What does this mean to you?
• One cannot give away anything physical, emotionally or spiritual that you
don’t have, can you?
• For example, if you don’t have a pure healthy love for yourself, how can you
give love to someone else?
• If you can’t give an element to others how can you expect reciprocation?
• Biblical perception is in Acts 3:6 – “Silver or Gold I do not have, but what I do
have I give to you.”
• As a coach, how hard is it to communicate this thought to someone?
• Can you cite an example from you life or work?
• How important do you think this one really is?
TLG-RWME - 2015
3
4. 2. DON’T IDENTIFY YOURSELF WITH WHAT YOU POSSESS OR
ACHIEVE!
• What does this mean to you?
• EGO myth – We are what we possess or own
• EGO Myth – We are what we achieve or the title we have
• Are these bad for an individual, good for an individual or neutral?
• What are the positive attributes for either of these?
• What are the negative attributes for either of these?
• How can we avoid this trap in today’s materialistic world?
• How can we coach others to not fall prey to it?
TLG-RWME - 2015
4
5. 3. YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK ON, READ AND WATCH!
• What does this mean to you?
• What areas of our lives are affected by this item?
• How can you safely explore this with clients?
• Is the subconscious involved in this exercise?
• What happens with you focus on negative things for 3 days or more?
• Can this be faked or covered up? Often tried but usually fail
TLG-RWME - 2015
5
6. 4. BE OPEN MINDED & ATTACHED TO NOTHING!
• What does this mean to you?
• Can this be healthy in terms of following, especially the “Attach to Nothing”
portion?
• Closed minds cut off the power of God to provide his power to everything in
our lives.
• People today look for reasons to be offended, but the only one hurt is the
person themselves.
• Are there biblical lines that should not be crossed when dealing with this
issue and a client?
TLG-RWME - 2015
6
7. 5. CHANGE THE WAY YOU PERCEIVE THINGS!
• What does this mean to you?
• Do you live in a hostile, destructive universe or do you live in a positive,
supportive and growth orientated universe? Power of perception!
• When we start with a negative perception we will continue to deal with
negative until we can turn it around.
• When you change your thinking, you change your beliefs
• When you change your beliefs, you change your expectations
• When you change your expectations, you change your attitude.
• When you change your attitude, you change your behavior.
• When you change your behavior, you change your performance.
TLG-RWME - 2015
7
8. 6. NO ONE LIKES BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO!
• Drive to become a great example to workers, family and friends.
• “You cannot kindle a fire in any other heart until it is burning within your own
heart.” Eleanor Doan
• As John Maxwell states in The Law of Buy-In: “ Every message that people
receive is filtered through the messenger who delivered it. In other words US!
• When people respect you as a person, they admire you.
• When they respect you as a friend, they love you.
• When they respect you as a leader, they follow you.
TLG-RWME - 2015
8
9. 7. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS JUSTIFIED RESENTMENT!
• Have you ever felt justified to resent someone or something for an action,
words or engagement?
• Resentment starts with broken trust between two or more people.
• Begin by acknowledging that a trust has been broken.
• Choose to forgive the other persons misbehavior
• Admit your responsibility and apologize
• The only person destroyed by resentment is the one holding the resentment
so be proactive.
TLG-RWME - 2015
9
10. 8. STOP FINDING EXCUSES PERIOD!
• Do you feel excuses are justified in any environment?
• Have you ever had to fall back on excuses?
• Do you believe life is difficult? – Understand that Life is not easy!
• Do you believe life is difficult for everyone? – You’re not the only one!
• Do you believe life is more difficult for some than for others?
• The key to winning in life is to not make life more difficult than necessary.
• Adapt, flex but don’t hide behind excuses!
• How do you deal with short-comings in business, at home, amongst friends?
TLG-RWME - 2015
10
11. WRAP UP & SUMMARY
• As a leader, it is up to us to be an example
• As a leader, we should embrace and empower other
• Remember, as John Maxwell says, it’s not about us but others
• Ego can be a fickle master, knowing where your values are is critical
• Being open and not attached to anything is a tough way to live but
valuable in daily life.
• The only constant today is change, so are your accepting of it’s challenges.
• The only person who is damages by resentment is us.
• Excuses are a waste of time.
