One of the most well-known sales methodologies in the world is the SPIN Selling framework. It’s been around for over 30 years but it’s still being used by many organisations. Here’s an overview of SPIN Selling and what parts of it are still relevant today.
Way back in 1988, Neil Rackham published a book titled, Spin Selling. In the book, Rackham took the lessons he learned from observing more than 30,000 actual sales calls conducted by sales experts over 12 years. One of his major findings was that by asking the right questions, at the right time, it was possible to increase the likelihood of closing a deal. In Spin Selling, Rackam fleshes out his theory by developing a question-based sales framework and providing practical applications to follow.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. 1 HAVE CLEAR WORK
EXPECTATIONS
People feel engaged when they know what their
priorities are and what’s being expected of them.
Without clear expectations, staff are left confused,
unmotivated and distressed.
3. 2
GET EVERYONE
WORKING TOWARDS
A COMMON GOAL
Studies show that people are more willing to
work harder and longer when they share a
common goal with their coworkers.
4. 3 GIVE THEM THE
TRAINING THEY NEED
Studies have shown staff who feel that they don't
have adequate training, resources and
equipment, leave within a year. Often their
targets are high but they are left struggling
because they don't have the tools to reach them.
5. 4 STRENGTHEN THE
TEAM BOND
It's important to promote positive relationships,
even when staff are working from home. Have
team video calls so everyone can see each other
and interact, which helps to strengthen the bond.
6. 5 COMPANY
GROUP CHAT
Have a company group chat to share personal
stories, fun updates and to encourage each other.
7. 6 1-ON-1
VIDEO CALLS
It’s important to continue to build personal
connections with staff. Do this by having
regularly scheduled video calls to find out how
they're doing both with their work & personally.
8. 7 REWARD THOSE
WHO EXCEED
Even in tough times, staff need to be rewarded for
their hard work. It doesn’t always have to be
monetary rewards, instead incorporate public
recognition, private recognition and awards.
