5. 5 Current activity of culture collection
Airlangga University has a microbial collection of
bacteria, yeast, molds, and algae
• These microbes come from various sources from :
the results of research from researchers in the field of microbiology
in UNAIR, researchers outside UNAIR, and service samples being
analyzed in UNAIR.
• The method used consists of two ways, for short-term storage
using the media in the test tube, petri dishes and for long-term
storage using a liquid-liquid method (tied in the matrix).
6. Current activity of culture collection
6
Microbial quality
during the storage
process is done by
qualitatively testing
microbial viability by
growing on solid
media, according to
the type of microbes
The microbial
collection in UNAIR is
used for a variety of
uses, including: for
education, research,
community service
and use for the public
The microbial storage
method that has been
done so far is still in
the form of recording
in the loog book and
recorded in Excel
