goals. Leadership Strengths Some great qualities I hold as a leader include, effective
communication, interpersonal skills, and strong character (Johnson and Smith, 2018). I
communicate effectively and powerfully with my team members keeping them abreast of
the organizational goals, expectations, and outcomes while encouraging open
communication among the team. This helps build better understanding, teamwork, and
trust among the team while promoting the company’s goals and outcomes. As a leader, I
have well-established interpersonal skills and collaborative ability, being able to collaborate
with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to foster healthy living and
quality care for our patients. I am respectful of myself and others, I understand the common
goals we share as team members within an organization, providing the best quality
evidence-based care to our patients. Through respect, I’m able to gain confidence both
within and outside my team which creates positive relationships, teamwork, and high

When we think of leaders in the healthcare industry, we often focus on the famous policy-makers that have come before us. We may not realize how truly significant our own personal leadership can be to those around us. Every person has the ability to be a leader regardless of the job title that we may hold. Laureate Education (2018) shared that leaders are not defined by position or title, rather they’re characterized by their ability to craft a compelling vision while inspiring others to follow. To enhance our leadership skills, it is important to frequently acknowledge our leadership strengths and weaknesses. Laureate Education (2014) explained that it is important to understand what your skills, talents, and competencies are in order to see how they could best be served in the organization. To be a successful leader, we should frequently analyze our approach and develop a plan for continued improvement. CliftonStrengths Assessment
Positivity, includer, achiever, relator, and futuristic themes were identified in my CliftonStrengths profile. Strengths Finder (2018) explained that by focusing on your Signature Themes, separately and in combination, you can identify your talents, build them into strengths, and enjoy personal and career success. Completing this assessment allowed me to gain an understanding of my values, strengths, and areas that I wish to improve upon. I found that my positive outlook and approach to situations allows me to include and relate to those around me as I drive my team towards the achievement of our goals. Organizational Behavior is based around multiple concepts, including knowing how to effectively communicate and the affects of leadership in the workplace. .
What’s The Most Worthy? In chapters eleven and twelve we learned communication and leadership. I believe both of these chapters cover extremely important information since businesses rely heavily on good communication and leadership skills. The most worthy of these I believe is leadership. Although communication is just as important, communication can be taught with the right leadership. Leadership in the workplace is one thing; good leadership in the workplace is another. Some benefits of a good leader can include “improved productivity of the workforce, improved ability to succeed under pressure, increased emotional intelligence, improved charisma and seriousness in business operations, growth in confidence in your tem, improved listening and communication skills, increased awareness of diversity in the workforce, improved innovation and creativeness, and a dependable, reliable, competent workforce” (www.rapidboostmarketing.com). With these leadership highlights comes effective communication. Communication is hit on within these leadership goals as well as many other important aspects of a successful business. The Importance of Communication and Leadership Communication and leadership are both important concepts in life alone. Having these skills in the workplace can help with both internal and external factors. Internally, having a good leadership team to teach new employees can help set the expectations for the company. If managers focus on instilling leadership qualities into their employees, the employees will naturally work with a leadership mind set. If everyone in the company is trained this way, the business will reap the benefits externally. If the outsiders of the business can physically see that company doing well, making improvements, and focusing on the future of their business, they are more likely to choose them as a place to give their business to.

Leadership SMART Goal Leadership goal Setting a goal is important since it really gives clarity to a person’s vision. A goal specifies the outcome of what one wants to accomplish (Jay, 2011). Developing a SMART leadership goal ensures that one’s goal is actually focused and offers a clear idea of what one wants to accomplish. In essence, a goal that is SMART makes it simpler for one to come up with pertinent activities, to measure his or her progress towards accomplishing the goal, and know when he or she has met his/her goal (Jay, 2011). For me, setting a SMART goal will make what I want tangible since I am declaring to myself that this is really what I want. Basically, the SMART goal will help me to focus my everyday energy towards making my dreams and wishes come true. My set goal is SMART in the following way: Specific: Haughey (2014) pointed out that a specific goal has to be focused, detailed, and stated clearly. My goal is specific enough; it is to work in interdisciplinary/interprofessional teams by Week 10 (as selected from the Institute of Medicine (IOM)). In these teams, I should be able to work with other professionals to offering the best care available to transplant patients and help the patients before the transplant, during the transplant, and after. To accomplish this goal, I will greet and introduce myself to various health professionals in the Transplant Services Department so familiarize my self with the department and the transplant of patients and cooperate, collaborate, communicate, and integrate care in teams to ensure that care is continuous and reliable. In the future health care system, health professionals will have to understand the advantage of high levels of cooperation, coordination, and standardization to guarantee excellence, continuity, safety, and reliability. In short, they will have to think of themselves as a team working in and contributing to a larger system. Nursing Leadership
While raising two adolescent girls, this author is working on her Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree (PMHNP).
Psychiatric disorders within these professions are multifaceted and rising at an alarming rate. My most recent project is hosting a website for my non-profit organization, sharing my research and fundraising for mental health therapy for local MP and FRs; my efforts supported by their respective employers. During personal interactions, many have expressed to me that for psychological symptoms, they are directed to contact their respective employee assistance program (EAP). Unfortunately, combined with the already perceived stigma of seeking help, the true reluctance was the absence of an EAP clinician with first-hand experience in these unique occupations. These concerns significantly limit the number of “relatable” practitioners therefore, as a trusted partner, incorporating over 20 years of experience with MP and FRs, I will change this for all of us.

Remaining open-minded about different individuals or situations has afforded this author the gift of seeing people and things from a different perspective than her own. You have done a great job in meeting these outcomes, especially in your discussion of past organizational change projects as connected to your leadership self-awareness. You also opened up a new avenue of self-awareness by complete the Zinger-Folkman Extraordinary Leader Assessment and constructing your strengths-to-strategy plan in the interactive exercise. I encourage you to continue collecting new tools for your leadership toolbox and building leadership capacity throughout this course and afterward. You will find that you will test some of the skills you are discovering (or rediscovering) through this class in your practicum project. Let's keep the dialogue going to foster an understanding of leadership from the evidence that supports guiding change for a compelling practice problem. Short-term goals and their impact
The short-term goals that I will set include; becoming a certified board member, choosing the patient population to serve as well as evaluating potential employers carefully. Becoming a certified board member will help me become more confident as a nursing practitioner, as well as boost my marketability in the competitive industry. In an effort to ensure that I become a certified board member in record time, I will undertake to apply for the exams before I leave RN and ensure that I am able to sit for them within three or four months after application.
The selection of the patient population encompasses the finding of the perfect position from which I will be able to grow and I will thus have to decide on a specific population that I will serve such as cardiac or the old age people. This will help ensure I am able to easily network within that given specialty area. The third goal that I will set is critical evaluation of the potential employers in which I will undertake to ask about job expectations, such as work hours, patients to be served as well as growth opportunities such as training programs. This will help ensure I land an employer that offers growth opportunities as well as an enabling environment to hone my skills as a nursing practitioner (Masters, 2017).
Long-term Goals and Their Impact
These goals include; get my name out there, engaging in research as well as advancing my qualifications. In an effort to increase my marketability, I will ensure that I stay in touch with the various individuals that I completed my practice with and who are likely to help with recommendations in the event I decide to advance career-wise. I will also ensure that I engage other nursing practitioners who are in the field whether older or even younger and who might help in giving advice as well as recommending career opportunities that might help in my growth. Through the journey of becoming a leader, it is inevitable for one to emulate and look up to a given leader to follow and follow in their footsteps or even eventually doing better than they did. However, one through the leadership journey unknowingly, one form their unique leadership philosophy that will follow through the trip (Figliuolo, 2011 as cited in Speranza & Pierce, 2019). This paper will highlight my personal views on leadership and how I perceive it to be. Personally, leadership in the workspace is an essential entity that aims to address and show people when I become a leader. I will be what guides and motivates me toward good leadership and my personal goals towards good leadership. Therefore, this paper is a discussion of my vision, core values, and missions in leadership. To dictate your leadership journey and behavior, one needs to have core values to guide them and keep them in line. In nursing, and from a personal view, caring, perseverance, honesty, learning, and ambition to set a goal and work to achieve them should be a leader's core values. However, the underlying core value every nurse should possess is being caring. Dyess (2015) states that the uniting and transforming factor in the nursing profession is caring, giving a sense of responsibility to the patients. Leadership in nursing is a key part in providing high quality healthcare to patients and in creating a conducive environment where staff are empowered. A nurse leader basically shows the other nurses the way and acts a bridge between them and the administrative leaders of the hospital. One of the responsibilities of a nurse leader is advocating for great patient care and needs of their unit nurses (Al-Dossary, 2017)by publicly supporting them. Another role is setting clear goals and accomplishing them successfully as well as building rapport with their followers. Application of creative thinking and problem solving skills should be part of day-to-day of a nurse leader. Other responsibilities include supervision of healthcare delivery, staffing and delegation of tasks to the nursing staff.
Education greatly contributes to nursing leadership skills; therefore, nursing education is crucial. A master’s education encompasses a course in leadership and care delivery which increases the effectiveness of leadership nursing as opposed to a newly registered nurse (Al-Dossary, 2017). For one to be an influential and successful nurse leader, strong interpersonal skills such as empathy and openness are very essential. This helps understanding the feelings of the staff and responding appropriately to them. Emotional intelligence is also significant since it leads to positive relationships between the nurse leaders and the staff (Hughes, 2017).This refers to the ability of one managing their emotions and those of others. These traits and more such as flexibility and integrity enhance good patient care, teamwork and promote a healthy working environment for nurses.

While raising two adolescent girls, this author is working on her Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree (PMHNP).
Psychiatric disorders within these professions are multifaceted and rising at an alarming rate. My most recent project is hosting a website for my non-profit organization, sharing my research and fundraising for mental health therapy for local MP and FRs; my efforts supported by their respective employers. During personal interactions, many have expressed to me that for psychological symptoms, they are directed to contact their respective employee assistance program (EAP). Unfortunately, combined with the already perceived stigma of seeking help, the true reluctance was the absence of an EAP clinician with first-hand experience in these unique occupations. These concerns significantly limit the number of “relatable” practitioners therefore, as a trusted partner, incorporating over 20 years of experience with MP and FRs, I will change this for all of us.

Short-term goals and their impact
The short-term goals that I will set include; becoming a certified board member, choosing the patient population to serve as well as evaluating potential employers carefully. Becoming a certified board member will help me become more confident as a nursing practitioner, as well as boost my marketability in the competitive industry. In an effort to ensure that I become a certified board member in record time, I will undertake to apply for the exams before I leave RN and ensure that I am able to sit for them within three or four months after application.
The selection of the patient population encompasses the finding of the perfect position from which I will be able to grow and I will thus have to decide on a specific population that I will serve such as cardiac or the old age people. This will help ensure I am able to easily network within that given specialty area. The third goal that I will set is critical evaluation of the potential employers in which I will undertake to ask about job expectations, such as work hours, patients to be served as well as growth opportunities such as training programs. This will help ensure I land an employer that offers growth opportunities as well as an enabling environment to hone my skills as a nursing practitioner (Masters, 2017).

These goals include; get my name out there, engaging in research as well as advancing my qualifications. Through the journey of becoming a leader, it is inevitable for one to emulate and look up to a given leader to follow and follow in their footsteps or even eventually doing better than they did. However, one through the leadership journey unknowingly, one form their unique leadership philosophy that will follow through the trip (Figliuolo, 2011 as cited in Speranza & Pierce, 2019). This paper will highlight my personal views on leadership and how I perceive it to be. Personally, leadership in the workspace is an essential entity that aims to address and show people when I become a leader. I will be what guides and motivates me toward good leadership and my personal goals towards good leadership. Therefore, this paper is a discussion of my vision, core values, and missions in leadership. To dictate your leadership journey and behavior, one needs to have core values to guide them and keep them in line. In nursing, and from a personal view, caring, perseverance, honesty, learning, and ambition to set a goal and work to achieve them should be a leader's core values. However, the underlying core value every nurse should possess is being caring. Dyess (2015) states that the uniting and transforming factor in the nursing profession is caring, giving a sense of responsibility to the patients. From the leadership perspective, caring is a significant value. Not only does it help in connecting with patients and with my colleagues. Caring bring about co-operation in the workspace. If employees feel cared for, it automatically commands respect and understanding. Thus, since my inception into nursing education and career life, it has been the first core value to embrace.

My experience as a nurse has equipped me with several skills that will come in handy when I start working as a psychiatrist. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of mental illness is one of my strengths, thanks to the knowledge and abilities I have gained over the years. On the other side, I must have a lot of weaknesses. The options for professional development that I need to investigate during my career to increase my skills in making use of the results of psychological tests. This paper will discuss three strengths and weaknesses and three clinical skills that a nursing student would like to become a professional before graduating from a nursing program. These strengths and weaknesses will be compared to three clinical skills that a nursing student would like to have.

Diagnostic reasoning skill in:
Developing and prioritizing a differential diagnoses list
Formulating diagnoses according to DSM 5-TR based on assessment data
Differentiating between normal/abnormal age-related physiological and psychological symptoms/changes
Pharmacotherapeutic skills in:
Selecting appropriate evidence based clinical practice guidelines for medication plan (e.g., risk/benefit, patient preference, developmental considerations, financial, the process of informed consent, symptom management)
Evaluating patient response and modify plan as necessary
Documenting (e.g., adverse reaction, the patient response, changes to the plan of care)
Psychotherapeutic Treatment Planning:
Recognizes concepts of therapeutic modalities across the lifespan
Selecting appropriate evidence based clinical practice guidelines for psychotherapeutic plan (e.g., risk/benefit, patient preference, developmental considerations, financial, the process of informed consent, symptom management, modality appropriate for situation)
