3. WHAT WAS A MILITARY ORDER?
The military orders were religious
organizations led by the pope or independent
leaders, that usually were sent to the zones
next to Jerusalem or to the Iberian Peninsula to
conquest important places to Christian religion.
Kill is a sin to the Catholic religion, but due to
that this orders killed to obtain “important
places for God” the Pope pardoned them.
Some of the most known orders were the
Templar Order, the Hospital Order, the Order of
the Holy Sepulcher or the Teutonic Order that
even became an independent state.

4. RELATION WHIT THE
CRUSADES
The relation whit the Crusades was that
the orders usually were the troops of
elite of the Christian army, because the
rest of the warriors fought to be payed
or to obtain the religious pardon.
But they also were important in things
out of the war, for example in the
conquered territories like the Kingdom
of Jerusalem and Cyprus. They usually
participated as local policy, advisers of
the king or even they held the
executive power with a mode of
govern as a council (like the Order of
Malta that ruled the island for about 100
years).
5. THE POPES
The popes were the religious leaders of
the Catholic religion. The idea that we
have about the popes is completely
different to the ancients’: they
controlled an important part of Italy
and even they murdered. They had
personal contact with the leaders of
the orders and usually they were his
relatives, they organized the Crusades
to the holy places, but all the controlled
lands were or directly or indirectly
governed by the popes. All the money
obtained was to the pope. Like the
