6Th Grade Persuasive Essay
1. 6Th Grade Persuasive Essay
Writing a persuasive essay for a 6th-grade level can pose a unique set of challenges. At this
stage, students are still honing their writing skills and developing a deeper understanding of
structuring arguments. Crafting an effective persuasive essay requires the ability to express
thoughts clearly, organize ideas coherently, and provide compelling evidence to support one's
stance.
For a 6th-grade persuasive essay, students often need to grapple with the task of selecting a topic
that not only resonates with their peers but also allows them to present a convincing argument.
Finding the right balance between simplicity and complexity in the chosen subject matter is
crucial. The challenge lies in delving deep enough into the topic to provide meaningful insights
while ensuring that the language and concepts remain accessible to a 6th-grade audience.
Moreover, developing a clear thesis statement and supporting it with relevant evidence requires a
level of critical thinking that may be challenging for students at this stage of their academic
journey. It is essential to guide them in constructing well-organized paragraphs, each containing
a main idea supported by examples and explanations.
Additionally, fostering an understanding of counterarguments and teaching students how to
address opposing viewpoints can be a complex task. Striking the right tone and maintaining a
persuasive voice throughout the essay further adds to the difficulty, as 6th graders are still
refining their writing style.
In conclusion, while writing a persuasive essay at the 6th-grade level may present challenges, it is
a valuable exercise that contributes to the development of essential writing and critical thinking
skills. With proper guidance and support, students can navigate these challenges and produce
compelling essays that showcase their ability to persuade and articulate ideas effectively.

2. The Muhammad Is The Messenger Of God
All faithful Muslims are called to pray in Cairo. The song on the video is the call
that sounds five times a day every day in cities across the world. Nearly a quarter of
the people on earth respond to it with the enduring spirit of Islam. The video states
that in the Islam religion, Mohammed is the Messenger of God. The Islamic
civilization has been one of the humanity s grandest achievements, a worldwide
power founded simply on faith, a spiritual revolution that would shape the nations of
three continents, and launch an Empire. For the West, much of the history of Islam
has been obscured behind a veil of fear and misunderstanding. It was Muslim
scholars who retained the wisdom of the Greeks while Europe languished in the
dark ages. It was Muslims who sowed the seeds of the Renaissance 600 years
before the birth of Leonardo Da Vinci. From the way they heal the sick to the
numerals they use for counting, cultures across the globe have been shaped by the
Islamic civilization. However, all this began with an ordinary man and the profound
message he proclaimed would change the world forever. His name was Mohammed.
To Muslims, the life of Muhammad is a story revealed. Muhammad was born in or
around 570 AD in the sun blasted Arabian Peninsula, a land of scarcity whose tribes
were always in a state of war. While still an infant, Muhammad s parents gave him
his first tasteful of life in the dessert. Muhammad was from a town named Mecca, but
he was sent off to live with the better
3. Clinical And Metabolic Features Of Non Hiv Related In...
We conducted a systematic review to summarize existing data on clinical and
metabolic features of non HIV related lipodystrophy in patients with age at onset of
lipodystrophy 18 years. This in depth review of 1,141 patients with lipodystrophy is
the largest pooled pediatric database, so far reported in literature. We have suggested
core and supportive clinical features of four major lipodystrophies (CGL, AGL, FPL
and APL) to help clinicians in diagnosis and management decisions (Figure 3).
Congenital generalized lipodystrophy is a rare autosomal recessive disorder (38).
Several CGL loci have been previously identified, AGPAT2 (CGL type 1), BSCL2
(CGL type 2), CAV1, and PTRF (CGL type 4), with the first two accounting for about
95% of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These patients can present with menstrual irregularities, hyperandrogenism and
polycystic ovaries. However, reproductive data were available on a limited number of
CGL patients.
In our review, the core clinical feature of CGL was generalized fat loss noted during
first 3 years of life and rarely during early adolescence (47). Supportive features
included acromegaloid appearance, hepatomegaly (because of hepatic steatosis)
(48), protuberant abdomen (due to organomegaly), and advanced bone age. Onset of
DM was during early childhood through adolescence, except in a group of 10
Brazilian CGL patients homozygous for a 1036 bp deletion in the AGPAT2 gene
(BSCL1 locus), as described by Gomes et al. (49) and a single patient in the NIH
lipodystrophy database (age at onset of DM 34 years). Gomes et al. reported mean
age at onset of DM as 25.67 В± 11.25 years in AGPAT2 group compared to 11.93 В±
8.29 years in BSCL2 (669insA Seipin) group (p=0.007) (49). Diabetes mellitus in
CGL was ketosis resistant, with higher insulin levels and higher insulin resistance
reported in BSCL2 than in AGPAT2 patients (49).
Acquired generalized lipodystrophy was characterized by female predominance.
Patients with AGL had normal fat distribution at birth, however developed
generalized loss of subcutaneous adipose tissue during childhood or puberty.
Preceding infectious illnesses including Neisseria meningitidis, measles, varicella and
mumps (3,50,51) were associated
4. Benetton Family
Company History: Benetton Group S.p.A.
Company Perspectives:
Today the Benetton Group is present in 120 countries around the world. Its core
business is clothing: a group with a strong Italian character whose style, design
expertise and passion are clearly seen in the United Colors of Benetton and the
more fashion oriented Sisley brands, and in sportswear brands Playlife and Killer
Loop. The Group produces over 110 million garments every year, over 90% in
Europe.
Key Dates:
1955: Giuliana and Luciano Benetton buy their first knitting machine and begin
selling Giuliana s woolen sweaters.
1965: The Benetton family forms a partnership, Maglificio di Ponzano Veneto dei
Fratelli Benetton.
1972: The company introduces a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Production at the company was also unique. In 1972 Luciano introduced a time and
money saving production technique. By dyeing assembled garments made of
unbleached wool rather than batches of yarn before knitting, manufacturing time was
trimmed and Benetton could produce garments upon demand, which minimized the
need to maintain an extensive inventory.
To produce many sweaters at reduced cost and financial risk, Benetton took advantage
of an old Italian cottage industry. Benetton farmed out labor intensive production
knitting and sewing to small, family owned companies (many owned in whole, or
part, by Benetton management) throughout northeast Italy. Employing advanced
technology, these companies allowed Benetton to manufacture in response to
increased market demand both domestically and abroad with reduced financial risk.
About 80 percent of production was farmed out to 450 subcontractors who
employed about 20,000 workers in the Veneto region. The remaining 20 percent of
value added, capital intensive production quality control and cutting and dyeing was
performed in house. By 1983 Benetton payments for contract work equaled nearly
six times the labor expense for work performed in its factories, according to the
Harvard School of Business.
Benetton s early success is attributable as much to Luciano s genius, as to the Italian
and local business
5. Essay On Mold Fossils
Mold fossils come from a process called authigenic preservation; a process which
leaves a negative impression, or indent, of an organism in rock after the organism
itself has deteriorated. Sand or mud covers the deceased organism and, over time,
that sand or mud hardens into rock, encasing the organism. The organism continues
to decay, eventually leaving only an imprint. Entire organisms, partial organisms, or
even traces of the passing of organisms can leave mold fossils. Cast fossils occur
when mold fossils are filled in with minerals that harden over time, creating a
fossilized replica of the original organism. Water seeps through the rock surrounding
the mold fossil, leaving behind minerals which fill the mold. The minerals harden,

Plant fossils and trilobites are often found as casts and molds. Most molds and casts
do not contain the actual remains of an organism. Shells, bone, and wood often form
as molds or casts. Dinosaur footprints can also be classified as mold fossils. Shells
can make an imprint in sand, and under certain conditions such an imprint might be
preserved and then filled in. Trace fossils can form if two conditions are met. First,
the activity has to take place in a material that will hold its form (like mud or clay).
Second, the evidence of the activity has to be well preserved (often by being buried
quickly). Common activities that are captured in time as these conditions are met
include walking and running (footprint fossils), burrowing (organisms homes can
be frozen in time through petrification), and defecating. The animals speed, length
of stride, and whether they walked on two or four legs. The bones structure of the
foot and the stalking behavior (a carnivore hunting a herd of herbivores). The
existence of dinosaur herds and stampedes. How the tail is carried (few tail tracks
have been found, so tails were probably held above the ground). Speed, the length of

6. A Great Mistake Of The Athenians
This was a great mistake of the Athenians, as Thucydides claims, most of them
(Athenians) being ignorant of its (Sicily) size and of the number of its inhabitants,
Hellenic and barbarian, and of the fact that they were undertaking a war not much
inferior to that against the Peloponnesians . So, Athens undervalued Sicilyand
overvalued their (the Athenians) greatness. Nicias tried to warn citizens about the
wealth and strength of the Sicilian states enemies they would have to challenge, and
insisted on a great preparation and investments in the expedition to make it
possible. He also added: Indeed, even if we leave Athens with a force not only equal
to that of the enemy except in the number of heavy infantry in the field, but even at
all points superior to him, we shall still find it difficult to conquer Sicilyor save
ourselves .
The preparation for the expedition began and the departure to Sicily took place. It
worth saying that all Athenians were taking part in preparation, the government and
citizens did their best. Indeed this armament that first sailed out was by far the most
costly and splendid Hellenic force that had ever been sent out by a single city up to
that time .
Alcibiades, one of the generals of the expedition, had a lot of enemies in Athens,
due to his luxury life and desire to get as much fame as possible. So, before the
departure of expedition his enemies tried to do everything to implicate him in
scandals and expose. All in all Alcibiades was

Gods and Goddesses as manifestations or aspects of that supreme God or Goddess.

American and Canadian churches they were about 1.5 million Hindus in the US

8. Essay Story Elements in Maze Runner
Dynamic Character:
Alby is a dynamic character in the story the Maze Runner. The drastic changes that
Alby went through after the Changing are clearly apparent. He is the dynamic
character because in the beginning of the story he is nice and also strict and is a
leader that manages the Glade. After getting stung by the griever and going through
the Changing he becomes very different. He doesn t want to be the leader and he
becomes depressed, crazy and acts differently. It seems like he becomes a whole new
person.
Static Character:

stays the same throughout the story. He stays funny, kind, friendly and loyal to
Thomas. He helps Thomas when he first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hospital, sleeping areas and washrooms are all in the Homestead. It is kind of
the living area. At last the Deadheads is the section that has the Graveyard. There is
also the map room where the Runners record the maps after they explore the Maze.
This are basically all the places that the story takes place in.
Bottom Line: The time of the story is in a futuristic period without a specific date
or time. The main setting is in the Glade but we don t know where in the world the
Glade is located. We just know it is surrounded by a maze and is isolated from the
real world. The more specific settings of the story could be The Gardens, The Blood
house, The Homestead, The Deadheads, The Maze, the elevator and etc.
Conflicts:
There are three types of conflicts in the story the Maze runner:
a)Character vs. Character:
вћўThe Character vs. Character conflict in the story the Maze Runner is the
conflict between Thomas and Gally. Thomas and Gally have a conflict with each
other. Gally doesn t seem to like Thomas from day one and he has viewed bad
memories about Thomas during the Changing. There is a lot of hatred between
Gally and Thomas, and at the end Thomas killed Gally because he tried to kill him
and killed Chuck because Chuck jumped in the way.
b)Character vs. Self
вћўThe Character vs. Self conflict in the story the Maze Runner is when the
survived Gladers reached the factory and they were standing in a row
9. Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change is the global issue of a rising temperature due to human activity.
As a result of the rising temperature the polar icebergs are melting. This is putting
more water into the ocean and causing sea levels to rise. Because of the higher sea
levels many coastal communities are flooding. With Massachusetts being a coastal
state this could majorly affect us. Given with the current trends of one eighth of an
inch per year (NOAA), a good portion of Massachusetts could be flooded soon. But
how soon? And how will it progress over time? This is what we hope to find out
with our project. (Kique Ruiz)
Paragraph 1: According to Merriam Webster dictionary, climatechange is the changes
in earth s weather patterns. Climate change, however, has come to be known as the
warming of the earth s climate due to Co2. Climate change is rather controversial
with the question that is the recent spike in temperature and Co2 related, and is this
spike caused by humans? Many studies have been done by a multitude of
organizations. The majority of these studies all point to one thing. According to
skeptical science, With 60 70 meters of global sea level locked up... Many now seem
to converge on 1 2 meters of sea level rise by 2100 (2017) Also, according to NASA,
the global Co2 in the atmosphere is rising at about 2 parts per million per year
(NASA 2017). The sea level is rising at the same time that Co2 levels and global
temperature is rising. This has all started around when humans
10. Kushite Art Style
Around the fourth century BC, the manufacturer and trader of iron led to the rise of
the Kush Empire. Kush Empire became a powerful trading center located near the
modern day border of Egypt and Sudan in northeast of Africa. In addition to
producing iron, the people of Kush traded gold, jewelry, pottery, and ivory. The
empire thrived for nearly a thousand years. During that time, the Kushite s developed
an advanced society, adopted some Roman style architecture and developed their own
written language. The Kush Empire also gave women more political power than most
other ancient empires. The art history of Kush starts with the Kingdom of Kerma.
The greatest art production activities occurred in the Napatan and Meroitic periods
(9th century BC to 5th AD). Unlike in other civilizations, most of art productions in
Kush were not controlled by governing authorities. Although stylistic differences
exist, Kushite arts maintain cultural solidity and unique identity. Unlike other ancient
civilizations, Kushite Kings did not practice absolute power. Political authority
involved the priests and militants, who traditionally nominated and determined royal
succession. With most Kushite sculptures, the faces are depicted with little
consideration for idealism . Art historians often refer to the brutal realism of Kushite
art . Earlier Kushite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

11. Border Security Policy Analysis
As the political landscape in the United States continues to include increasing levels
of immigration reform and border security rhetoric, an understanding of current
capabilities and operations becomes a vital component when forming an educated
opinion. Army National Guard soldiers and aircraft provide a crucial layer of border
security, employing the UH 72A Lakota helicopter equipped with technology
designed to assist law enforcement agencies in drug interdiction and undocumented
immigrant apprehension. Shortfalls in United States Customs and Border Protection
(CBP) capabilities opened the door for military involvement to stem the influx of
illegal immigrants, as well as slowing human and drug trafficking (Lawson, 2012).

The UH 72A Lakota is a militarized version of the Eurocopter EC 145, also known
as a BK 117 C 2, and is equipped with the mission equipment package. The standard

sensor with laser pointer, data communication suite, moving map display, cabin and
cockpit screens with touchscreen interface, digital video recorder, Tactilink data
downlink system, and 30 million candlepower searchlight (Bledsoe, 2011). A
typical Task Force Liberty flight crew includes two pilots, one crew chief, and one
CBP officer (Robinson, 2013). To maximize aircrew coordination and minimize task
saturation, the pilot on the controls focuses on flying the aircraft, positioning it as
needed to decrease detection and optimize sensor capability, and navigating via
onboard GPS. The pilot not on the controls operates the communication suite,
maintaining communication with controlling agencies and higher headquarters, as
well as general cockpit management. The crew chief operates the MX 15i sensor,
which provides real time electro optical or infrared video feed to the crew station
and to each of the pilots. In the absence of a Border Protection agent, the crew chief
will also maintain communication with CBP dispatchers and CBP agents in the field.
Most mission flights carry a Customs and Border Protection agent who sits beside the
crew chief at the crew station. The agent coordinates communications with CBP
dispatch and field agents, and assists the flight crew in prioritizing mission

of famous bottled water brands. Nowadays, bottled water is extremely popular in
America. Approximately, 85 million bottles of water are consumed every day in the
United States (Gleick). The reason being that bottled water is convenient, reasonable,
and seems healthy. However, the disadvantages of using bottled wateroutweigh its
benefits; therefore consumers should refrain from buying bottled water. Bottled

Tap water is regulated by the EPA, which requires municipalities to have their water
quality tested annually by certified laboratories, and then provide the results to the
public. Bottled water, on the other hand, is regulated by the FDA, which does not
have the regulatory power to require bottled water companies to test water using
certified labs or to provide the results of any testing to the public. Even if high levels
of contaminants are found in the water, companies do not need to report the test
results (Why bottled water is unhealthy). Several bottled water companies accept the
fact that they use the same water as tap water (Blue Gold). Moreover, health experts
have expressed concern that bottled water might contain chemicals that cause serious
health problems. According to Professor Salzman of Duke University, several studies
of bottled water from various brands have found to contain dangerous chemicals, such
as arsenic, benzene, and chloroform (185).These chemicals are poisonous, and thus
consumption of these chemicals can be fatal. Hence, there is little doubt that drinking
bottled water carries risks to human health. Apparently, bottled water is clean and
healthy, but have you ever thought where the water in the bottles came from? Or
how the water is processed before it makes to the shelves? Knowing the answers to
these questions is key to understanding how drinking bottled water affects our

14. Compare And Contrast Ancient Greece And Rome
Ancient Greece and Rome
Ancient Greece peoples were, for the most part, farmers, their diet it was mostly
grains, or to use the Greek word, sistos. The fertile soil from the hillsides of the
mountainous lands, surrounded by water, provided the perfect habitat for olive, fig,
and grape trees to grow naturally. In the Island of Siphnos and the Mountains of
Thrace, gold and silver were found. Additionally, silver could be found in Laurionin
Attica. The mainland and Aegean Islands was the home to the abundance of iron
ore. Lavish Greek forest located in the Highlands were regrettably depleted of wood
resources quite rapidly. Devastated first by home and wagon production followed by
goat and charcoal production. Wood, the most significant resource, soon had to be
imported to keep up with the demand for the of building of ships (Roman).
Ancient Rome arose on seven wooded hills along the Tiber River in Central Italy
(World Q R 436). Like the Greek many romans were farmers. They grew olive and
wine grapes. Romans used a process called deep vein mining to recover metals such
as iron ore. Many of their buildings were made partially from stone found naturaly

15. The Impact Of Photography On The World Of Photography
The history of photography begin with the discovery that some substances are
visibly altered by exposure to light and can capture that reality on to metal or paper.
From then on, many photographers and scientists developed photography in to what
it is now. There are many significant aspects of photography in its first hundred years
of history that formed and shaped the basis of photographytechnically and artistically.
Personally, the most significant aspects of the photograph lie in its beginning when it
all first started with the daguerreotypes and the calotype that opened the world of
photography which have lead the world to be what it is now.
The first widely usable photographic processes that was introduced to the public were
the daguerreotype and the calotype. There were precedents before the daguerreotype
and calotype but it wasn t commercially used and was more close to a research
rather than an art form. Each method produced technically different outcomes by
using different methods but they devoted to the same result: both processes would
develop photography into what we recognize today as photography. The two
methods would inspired wide use of the camera, which presented problems with the
photographic technique. By having people solve these problems, the photography
developed from its early stage, big in size and complicated procedures, to the
modern camera that we use, which are simple and easy to use. Even though
daguerreotype and calotype were developed during

The Cinematic Features Displayed in Pleasantville and The Truman Show
The following essay, which I have composed, is based on two important films of
the last decade. Their titles are Pleasantville and The Truman Show . Starting with
the Pleasantville , the general overview of the film s plot gets more complicated the
further you get into it. It brings up several issues all of which I have commented on
in this essay.
The film starts with two teenagers, David and Jennifer. David has an addiction to old
reruns of a fifties sitcom also by the name of Pleasantville . Jennifer is the complete

relate more to this town in the next section. All this is, from actors to the weather, is
controlled by Christof, the director of the show. He controls everything around

The towns of Pleasantville and Seahaven, the sets for both films are similar in
ways and different in others. The main similarity is how both are supposed to be

American fifties sitcoms were truly like. They also repeat re runs of these shows

Coming to TWU (Texas Woman s University) this fall for college was a good
decision on my part. Not only are the staff and faculty helpful but they are also
there when you need them. When I came on move in day I learned that my LLC
(Living Learning Community) had a PA (Peer Advisor) and an RA (Resident
Assistant). Rachel (the PA) was and is always there when I need her and had never
let me down, and even though it is her job as a PA you can tell that she really does
enjoy what she does and likes helping others.
Becoming a PA is a way to not only help the new incoming students but also a way to
know and interact with the new residents, which is exactly why Rachel decided to
become one, I wanted to interact with the residents and get to know them but not on
the same level as an RA. There is a huge difference between being an RA and being
a PA, well at least to me there is. A PA links residents to academic resources on the
campus and helps the residents transition from high school level to college level. PAs
serve as permanent extra resources that are available 24/7; if you do not know
how to study or build up your study habits they are there to help you with that. Not
only are the PAs living in the dorms with residents but they also share and serve as
teacher assistants in the UNIV 1231 course with the residents they are assigned to.
The PAs are almost like academic advisors in a way, they assist the residents with

Aerotoxic Syndrome. The report is broken up into four sections, comprising firstly the
nature of the problem, and how it affects all stakeholders, followed by the
controversies related to the topic, with potential solutions to such controversies. Next
in the report is the identification and prioritisation of appropriate riskcontrols, and
finally an indication of immediate and long term actions the airlinecarrier can take

Ultimately, the report as a whole will aid your airline carrier surrounding the issues of
Aerotoxic Syndrome now and into the future.
Aerotoxic Syndrome is an illness that is caused by breathing in toxic fumes inside
of the jet aircraft. This is caused by the air intake on a plane, which comes from the
engine where it sucks in the air and pumps it into the cabin, but the toxic oils and
other substances in the engine can easily leak into the airflow and contaminate the air
that all passengers and staff breath. A very common leakage is the leakage of the jet
engine lubricant oil, tricresyl phosphate, otherwise known as TCP or TOCP. The
Government and regulatory authorities have conducted researches that have admitted
to the association between the contamination of the cabin air to chronic health
problems, but they have not admitted to specific causation. Aerotoxic Syndrome

20. Auditory System Essay
The world contains all kinds of energy that translates into information about what we
see, hear, smell, touch and taste. A sensory system is a part of the nervous system
responsible for processing specific sensory information. The components of a sensory
system include sensory receptors, neural pathways, and parts of the brain involved in
sensory perception. To begin, energy from the environment stimulates the receptor
cells in whichever sense organ is being used. If this information were auditory, the ear
would convert sound waves in the air into electrical impulses that would further be
interpreted by the brain as sound. A sound wave first enters the pinna, the fleshy part
of the ear on the outside of the body. It then travels through... Show more content on

The movements of the membranes then send the vibrations down the scala
tympani. A structure called the Organ of Corti, which is situated on the basilar
membrane, becomes stimulated as the membrane vibrates and sends nerve
impulses to the brain. Within the Organ of Corti are a group of specialized cells
called hair cells, which are covered by the tectorial membrane. As the basilar
membrane vibrates, the hair cells are bents and push up against the tectorial
membrane. This causes the hair cells to fire and send nerve impulses to the
auditory cortex on each of the brains hemispheres through the cochlear nerve. How
we determine pitch can be explained with two different theories. The Place Theory
states that the entire basilar membrane does not vibrate at once so different parts
of the basilar membrane respond to different frequencies of sound. Lower
frequency sounds vibrate the basilar membrane near the apex of the cochlea while
higher frequency sounds produce vibrations closer to the base. The Frequency
Theory states that the frequency of firing matches the frequency of the sound
wave. Hearing loss can occur for a number of reasons. Damage to the eardrum due
to age and prolonged exposure to loud noise may cause the hairs or nerve cells in
the cochlea to wear out and become less effective. A buildup of earwax can block
the ear canal and prevent of sound waves from entering the eardrum. Otosclerosis, a
genetic form of hearing loss in which the stapes is fixed

The Populists and Progressive were form of movement that occurred during the
outbreaks of the workers union after the civil war. The populists began during the late
1800s.The progressive began during the 1900s. There are many differences between
these two movements, but yet these movements have many things that are similar.
Farmers united to protect their interests, even creating a major political party. The
party was called the peoples party which became known as the populist party.

The attempt to unite urban workers and farmers into a mass movement for economic
reform had failed. Progressivism began in the early 1900s. It had roots in several
earlier movements such as the Liberal Republican and the Mugwumps. Progressivism
centered in cities. Progressives were middle class and well educated. Progressives
stayed in the political mainstream. They aimed not to remake American society, but
to merely make the existing system work better and to do this they were willing to
make compromises. Progressivism offered the middle class, business leader, and
farmers a safe reform. By 1900 the American economy was strong. As a result
people of all classes felt more confident and more willing to compromise.
Progressives made city and state governments more democratic. They also tightened
regulations on business. For Progressives, honest and efficient government was an
important goal, but not the ultimate one. They saw government as a tool to be used
to promote the welfare of all citizens. Regulating business was, for both city and state
governments, a major part of that task. Progressives passed more laws aiming at
protecting various groups, especially children. The Populist and Progressives had
many similarities. What the Populist fought for the Progressives continued on
fighting. They fought for many similar things for example, they fought for the eight
hour work day. The Populist and Progressives were for the people. They wanted to

Some gods had the body of a human and the head of an animal. When I read that, I

In addition, I found the idea of an animal head stuck to a human body disgusting! I
just didn t believe this, so I decided to find out for myself.
The Ancient Egyptian were polytheistic most of the time, which means that they
believed in multiple gods. When Akhenaten was pharaoh, the Egyptians were
monotheistic, meaning they worshiped only one god. He ended the worship of other
gods and claimed that Aten, the lord of all was the only god in Egypt. The Egyptians

25. Analysis Of The Poem A Sorrowful Woman
Once upon a time there was a wife and mother one too many times (Godwin 39).
This short story begins with the famous opening, once upon a time, which
foreshadows that the story line will be similar to a fairy tale. It raises expectations
for the story that all will be magical and end happily. A typical modern day fairy taleis
that of a distressed character who overcomes an obstacle, falls in love with prince
charming, and they ride off into the sunset; living happily ever after never to be
heard from again. Godwin however, puts an unexpected twist on A Sorrowful Woman
. This short story is a tale about what can happen when everyday roles take over our
identity. Ultimately, this short story challenges societal expectations of marriage...

Divorce from marriage would break the bounds of normality for this time period.
Traditionally, women were stay at home who tended to the children, house chores,
and duties when needed. Purposely, Godwin doesn t give the characters names. This
is important because it implies that the characters are not people, but they represent
their role within the family. Godwin mocks a fairy tale by having the characters
actions contradict expectations. This is shown when the mother is literally sick at the
sight of her family (Godwin 39). Also when the child pretends to be a tiger and
scratches the mother, scaring her off so she didn t want to be alone with the boy
anymore. The husband doesn t save the wife from her state, he simply understands
it and finds other solutions. He hires a girl to help care for the boy, but the mother
resents this. The mother wishes to be happy with her roles but she cannot accept
them, and despises the perfect girl for doing what she is unable to (Godwin 40 41 ).
The mother leads a life where her duties and societal expectations are met, but by
doing this her happiness is lost. Once upon a time implies that she thought her life as
a wife and mother would be perfect. The wife even attempts to find new roles to
replace the ones she holds which do not suit her, She tried these personalities on like
costumes, then discarded them (Godwin 42).

With the increasing number of users of cloud, the load/ traffic also increases and it
becomes important to have some techniques to balance the load equally among all
the nodes, so that the user doesn t suffer and the services are delivered effectively

number of techniques available for load balancing. In this paper, different kinds of
load balancing algorithms in cloud computing along with the challenges and the
qualitative metrics for the various load balancing algorithms are presented.

Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) September, 2011 is: Cloud computing
is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on demand network access to a shared
pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage,
applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal
management effort or service provider interaction. This cloud model is composed of
five essential characteristics, three service models, and four deployment models.
Cloud computing is a type of Internet based computing that provides shared computer

30. What Is The Example Of Nepotism
In Philippine politics, the ultimate goal is to have professional officials in the
government so that the country will be ruled properly and be successful. For this
to be achieved, officials who are in high positions should give power to those who
are responsible enough and can prove that they are worthy of their given position.
But in reality, this ideal image is somehow violated because of nepotism. Nepotism
is defined as favoritism shown by somebody in power to relatives and friends,
especially in appointing them to good positions. Regardless of the capability and
capacity to work in the workplace, officials preferably appoints or promotes their
relatives in good positions instead of appointing or promoting non related members

31. African Art And Art
Another example of how culture influences art is the painting Spring Morning in
the Han Palace by Qui Ying. He was considered to be one of the Four Great
Masters of the Ming Dynasty from 1368 to 1644. This painting depicted many
everyday activities that would be done during the early spring time. The work of art
done by Qui Ying includes people tending to flowers and playing chess, which are
part of the Chinese cultureduring the spring. African art work and culture is geared
towards the religious aspects of life. Terracotta figures that did not interfere with
human representation were the first kind of African art. African art s main focus is
expanding the world to decrease the fear of the unknown. For example, a mask that
was used for rituals and ceremonies created by Dual God Gulu. The mask brings life
and death. This is an example of African art that involves the religious aspect of
culture.
Fashion and clothing are most definitely a necessity in life, but also a work of art.
What people wore in the past to what we wear today is all inspired by culture.

33. Prohibition in the United States
Prohibition in the United States was a built up reaction to alcohol and illicit drugs
from the Temperance and other religious organizations beginning in the 1840s and
intensifying during the Reconstruction Period. By using increasing pressure on
legislators, lobbying through Churches and, of course, embarrassing public officials
into a stance, these organizations forced the ratification of the 18th Amendment to
the U.S. Constitution in January 1919. This law prohibited the manufacture, sale, or
transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the
exportation thereof from the United States(ProhibitionWins in Senate). Congress also
passed the Volstead Act in October 1919, a way to enforce the law. Ironically, this
became a public debate and conundrum because most large cities had neither the
interest nor the manpower to enforce the law. In some areas, alcohol consumption did
decline, but in urban areas there was a backlash of increased organized crime, and
rather than government receiving taxes from legitimate businesses, it was crime
monopolies that profited from this cash crop. (Blocker).

Rectification of camera captured document images for Camera based OCR
technology Abstract Due to the rapid progress in digital cameras industry, camera
captured documents becomes as another possibility or choice for document capturing
and understanding for OCR applications. However, image quality degradations
arising from the image acquisition process have severe effect on these applications.
The distortion results from digital camera may take the shape of skew, perspective
distortion or geometric distortion. We propose fully automatic preprocessing
techniques to enhance the digital camera captured images to improve the
performance of OCR applications. Our algorithms depend on the features of the text
lines and letters and do not need any especial equipment. Experimental results on a
real camera captured images demonstrate 10~15 % enhancement in current
commercial OCR packages. 1.Introduction Textual content in books, newspapers and
articles have been traditionally digitized using scanners and read with the help of
optical character recognition (OCR). Recent technical advances in digital cameras
have led the OCR community to consider using them instead of scanners for
document capture. Compared with the scanner, the digital camera is quite easier to
use, being able to capture images from any viewpoint. Cameras can be easily
integrated with portable computing devices such as PDAs, cell phones, or media
players. Together, these factors contribute to the growing interest
35. The Destruction Of Selfish Desires In Macbeth By William...
It is human nature to do things that are beneficial for us. Whether it is cheating in
school, blaming our mistakes on others, or taking a shortcut on a task. We put
ourselves above others when it comes to making a decision. If we succeed the first
time, our greedy desires will keep coming back, and we will welcome them with
open arms, until the desires consume us. Whether we commit to those ambitious
desires or not exposes who we truly are. The decisions we choose decide the type of
people we will become. Shakespeare s tragedy Macbethshows us how quickly a
person can change from his selfish aspirations. Macbeth s climb for power perfectly
displays how much a man can fall from grace if he let his selfish desires take over.

cared for those dear to him. Instead of mourning his wife s death, Macbeth implied
that her death was sealed and there was nothing he could or was willing to do to
stop it. Later on, as Macbeth realized that Macduff has fled to England, he became
delirious over the fact that he could not reach Macduff, and stated, The castle of
Macduff I will surprise, Seize upon Fife, give to th edge o th sword His wife, his

Macbeth was barbarous enough to involve Macduff s family into his massacre, even

37. Network Security And The Security
Hospital Network Security With a multitude of changes occurring in the technology
field, it is critical that hospitals maintain the highest levels of security for their
internal network as well as their public access network. Hospitals contain vital
information about patients, treatment styles, employees and staff, as well as
pharmaceuticals that are kept on the premises. The importance of protecting this
information cannot be understated and a breach in securitycould cause a breakdown
in all areas of the network, having a catastrophic effect on the entire hospital. One of
the most important aspects of network security is a strong network security model.
The network security model consists of seven layers that work together to provide
the strongest possible security for the network. The seven layers are the physical
layer, the vlan layer, the software layer, the user layer, the administrative layer, and
the IT department layer. A network security model that is well thought out and
designed allows the network security team to analyze and maintain the network and
determine if there has been a breach and the location of the breach. The first layer of
the network security model, the physical layer, pertains to physical security. This
entails the prevention of a physical attack on servers and other devices connected to
the network. The physical layer is one of the most important layers of protection
because if it is breached, the layers beneath it will

generated $6.6 billion. They are expected to increase to $14.4 billion in 2012. The

Virtual goods are virtual items that players purchase to reach new levels or limited
edition items (Interview With CEO of Playdom, 2009). In 2009, Playdom had $50
million in profits and has about 42 million players per month. (Barnes amp; Miller,
2010). Aside from the point of access for online games played, it is important to
understand the market segments for online gamers. A study by Park Associates as
cited by David Edery, CEO of Spry Fox, outlines a diversification of gamers into
six categories: 1. Power gamers who are 11% of the total gamer market but
represent 30% of current spending. 2. Social gamers account for 13% of the
market. 3. Leisure gamers hold 14% of the market and spend an average of 58
hours per month playing casual titles. This group prefers challenging games and
show high interest in new gaming services . 4. Dormant gamers are 26% of the
market. They enjoy gaming, but spend very little time playing due to life s
obligations. 5. Incidental gamers are 12% of the market, with an average of 20
hours a month game time. They usually play out of boredom. 6: Occasional gamers
comprise 24% of the market and play puzzle, word, and board games (Edery, 2006).
It is our conclusion that CanGo with its established brand can effectively compete in
this competitive field by focusing on the segmentation of gamers within a niche in the
online gaming industry, particularly in

To Squeeze a Lemon Dry: How Princess Dashkova s Memoir Reveals Common
Themes Among Russia s History Princess Ekaterina Dashkova was an intelligent,
impressive woman who, at 18 years old (an age when many modern teenagers are still
living at home with their parents), helped to stage a coup d etat for Catherine
Alexeyvna, who was destined to become Catherine the Great.1 Ekaterina was actually
called Catherine the Little2, because both women held the same saint namesake and
both were considered intelligent and instrumental in the change of the government
from Peter III to Catherine the Great. Princess Ekaterina Dashkova s memoir
addresses power struggles, gender inequality, and the disparities between different

Most of the freedom Russian women had were enjoyed by only the upper class
nobles; peasant serf women were still stuck as housewives and laborers for the man
of the house. Most very elite and high status positions were exclusive to men in 18th
century Russia, such as Charge d Affaires or military commander.8 Two examples
of extreme discrimination stand out in Dashkova s memoir. The first is when the
Grand Duke, who will inherit the tsardom, openly admits to his acquaintances that
he favors Dashkova s sister as a lover and wife and will promptly dispose of
Catherine when he rises in power. The second is when Dashkova expresses (almost
demands) to Catherine the Great that she wants to be appointed colonel of the
imperial guards, which Catherine refuses because the station is exclusive to males.
This eventually leads to their fallout, which ends in Dashkova being sent abroad by
Catherine untiltheir differences could be smoothed over. Dashkovaalso reveals many
power struggles throughout her memoir. A passage that rings true is when the Grand
Duke/Peter III pulls Dashkova from a crowd after
41. Type II Toxin Antitoxin ( Ta ) Systems
Type II toxin antitoxin (TA) systems are a relatively ubiquitous feature of
prokaryotic genomes (1), consisting of a ribonucleolytic toxin and a labile
antitoxin. Under normal conditions, the toxin is silenced by pairing with its
cognate antitoxin, but can impact cell physiology in several ways when the
antitoxin is removed through proteolytic degradation. TA systems were first
identified as assisting in plasmid maintenance via post segregational killing (2,3),
as well as in phage exclusion, where expression of the toxin sacrifices some
infected cells to preserve the larger population (4). Subsequently, the identification
of chromosomal TA systems led to a re evaluation of their physiological
significance, including their potential role in various stress response mechanisms
(5) and stochastic persistence (particularly of pathogens) (6). Virulence associated
proteins (Vaps) are a particular class of type II TA systems characterized by a bi
cistronic locus encoding a proteolytically labile antitoxin (VapB), typically followed
by a stable toxin (VapC). These proteins were first identified in connection with
virulence plasmids in human pathogens, such as Salmonella Dublin (7), but have
since been recognized as one of the most predominant forms of type II toxins,
particularly among the archaea(8). A central component of VapC toxin activity is a
PIN domain, occurring within the approximately 100 amino acid sequence, that
displays divalent cation dependent ribonucleolytic

The Innocence of the Paxton Boys
I am here today to prove to you that Lazarus Stewart and Matthew Smith are not
guilty of the murder of Conestoga Indians. While both men agree that they did kill
the Conestogas, what they did is justified by the aggressive behavior shown by the
Indians.
I will now present evidence to prove this conclusion. My first piece of evidence is
from a speech made by Little Abraham, a Mohawk sachem, to colonial Pennsylvania
officials and Indian Leaders:
You [...] made Plantations there and spoiled their hunting grounds, they [French
allied Delawares] then complained to us [...] and [we] found their complaints to be
true. [...] [...] Our advice to you is, that you send for the Senecas [and Delawares], ...

From Lt. Governor Robert Morris s Proclamation of War:
[...] I do hereby declare the said Delaware Indians and all others who, in conjunction
with them, have committed hostilities against his Majesty s subjects within this
Province, to be enemies, rebels and traitors [...]; and I do hereby require all his
Majesty s subjects of this Province [...] to embrace all opportunities of pursuing,
taking, killing and destroying the said Delaware Indians and all others confederated
with them [...]. (Mombert 166 168)
I call this piece of evidence to show direct orders for His Majesty s subjects to kill,
maim, or otherwise destroy Delaware Indians and those who help them. If these
orders were followed during the first attack on the Conestoga s village, there would
have never been a second attack. However, the Captains were not sure at the time if
the unknown Indians were indeed Delaware allied. Next, I call Mr. Felix Donnelly to
the stand.
Me: Mr. Donnelly, what is your profession?
Mr. Donnelly: Call me Felix, please. I am the keeper of the Lancaster Jail.
Me: Did you witness the so called slaughter that took place there on the 27 of
December?
Felix: Yes.
Me: Did the Indians attack the rioters with the billets of wood that they seized?
Felix: Yes (Rupp 358)
Me: Thank you Felix, there will be no more questions. As you can see, gentlemen of

Professor Molinari
English 101
20 October 2015 Should torture be allowed in the United States? Since the time of
Ancient Greece, there has been an ongoing debate whether torture should be
permitted in the United States of America. Torture is define as the intentional use to
inflict physical or physiological pain to control and gain advantage over an individual.
Torture methods administered during the medieval times were much more malicious
than today s punishments. In the United States, torturing individuals is forbidden
regardless of the circumstance. Using torture as a punishment has been outlawed by
the U.S. Supreme court since the 1890 s, and is now included in the Eight
amendment. We Americans see ourselves, as the good people in the world, not bad
people who torture others. Opinions among Americans have shifted in light of the 9
/11 attacks and the ongoing war in Afghanistan, torture is much more accepted than
ever before. There, are many reasons why torture should be justified especially
during time of war, however, it goes against many American morals. Even if
someone deserved to be tortured, which many who are tortured in the end are found
to be not guilty of the crime. Nobody has the right to deliberately harm another
human being with the intention of causing the maximum physical and emotional
pain. Torture is the most twisted, sadistic, cruel behavior imaginable and it is as
inhumane as our rival countries. A popular YES commentator had the audacity to
state: Give them a little electrical motivation, or water ... Show more content on

In the chapter Zooey, in the book Franny and Zooey, Zooey seems to re read a
letter he received from his older brother buddy 4 years prior. Zooey probably keeps
re reading because it contains information pertaining to questions Zooey has had for a
long time and things he might not understand yet. The letter also contains
information about Seymour which is the glasses oldest brother that committed
suicide. This letter also comes into play throughout the book and at the end of the
book when Zooey is talking to Franny over the phone trying to give her some clarity
and help her in her life and mental breakdown and things she s dealing with at the
time. In the letter Buddy also seems to wantto give Zooey advise in regards to his

talk to anyone she only wants to talk to Seymour and since Seymour is gone Zooey
decides to bring up something that has to with Seymour So Zooey bring up the Fat
Lady and then he proceeds to tell Franny the time when Zooey didn t want to shine
his shoes but then Seymour convinces him to shine then for the Fat Lady (199) that

every time (199). Zooey bring this up in end to help Franny somehow feel close to
Seymour and at that time she reached clarity involving christ and everything she s
dealing with which brings her out of her crisis. Overall throughout the book the
most important benefits of the letter and the Fat Lady was that the letter helped
Zooey understand why Buddy and Seymour brought up Franny and Zooey the way
that they did. The letter also brought up things about Seymour that Zooey didn t
know abou like the poem Buddy found where Seymore committed suicide. The Fat
Lady Probably helped Franny and Zooey the most since The Fat Lady was the initial
reason Franny came out of her crisis and the end of the book. Since Zooey Brought
The Fat Lady up during his and Franny s conversation to attempt to
45. The Salt Lake Temple Of The Church Of Christ
On October 21, 2016 I went to the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah with my soccer team. The temple is
located in the center of Salt Lake City s center, known as temple square. The temple
consists of 6 buildings, but I only saw four. Each building serves different purposes
for the church. The first building I saw was the visitors center. Here I learned about
the basics and fundamentals of the church and their religion. The second building I
saw was the Tabernacle which is the home of the MormonTabernacle Choir. Here is
where the choir practices and performs. The next building I saw was the Assembly
Hall. The guide did not explain the purpose of this building, but I am assuming that
it is for meetings and activities. While walking, we saw the Church Office Building
which is the home of the church s world headquarters of The Church Of Jesus Christ
of Latter day Saints. This building is 28 stories and helps facilitate church functions
throughout the world. While touring the beautiful temple square, I saw and learned
many things about the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints that I had
not known before. After we arrived at the North Visitors Center, we were
immediately greeted by many of the Mormon missionaries. The men were wearing a
black suit with a button up shirt and the women were wearing a blouse with leggings
and a skirt that extends past the knees. These people were also wearing a name tag

46. The Pros And Cons Of Evolution
Space and time are linked, stars, worlds, and people are born, grow up, and die.
Human beings live about 70 80 years, but the lifetime of the sun is 100 millions
longer. Matter is older than life. Millions of years before the Earth was formed,
atoms were synthesized inside the stars, and where thrown back out to space when
they exploded. From this stellar remains appeared many planets; the Earth, and all
living beings are formed from star s dust, but from our human thinking, evolutionhas
been really slow, from the molecules from the primitive oceans, up until the first
bacteria. The reason why evolution is not the same for everyone is because is
because it advances really slowly and lasts a long time. Why is it that if human

Change and Culture Case Study In tough economic times, companies are looking for
ways to continue to provide services and products to the public without
compromising quality and efficiency. When it comes to smaller businesses, or
businesses that provide the same product or service, it is often wise to merge the
companies together to form a stronger, more stable structure. This will take place

Leading by example is the most effective way to produce results. The middle
managers in most companies are more approachable than top management; therefore
it is imperative that middle managers are on board with the new vision of the
company and display this in a positive way. While the merger is occurring it is
essential to build a team atmosphere, full of open communication, honesty, and
teamwork. Each employee from both companies should feel as though their
positions is important, and their cooperation is essential to the success of the
forming company. Once the merger is complete, it is all about the new culture,
staying visible, approachable, and communicating information early and often
(Bolton Lewis, 1998). Aside from ensuring employees are blending well, it is
important to focus on patient care. There will be changes implemented at every
phase of the merger, but it is important not let misunderstandings, or issues within
the staff affect the quality of care given to the patients. Once the merger has been
finalized and integration is complete, middle managers need to assess their staff to
be sure that each employee is doing his or her part to make the merge as successful
as possible. If there are employees who are resisting the changes being made within
the company, or not buying into the new culture and vision, it is necessary to
evaluate the situation and

50. The Elements Of The Operating System For Linux
The elements of the operating system for the LINUX comprises of the components
such as follows:
System Calls The system calls are the service requests made for the specific kernels.
Signals The signals are the calling functions for the operating system to the process
and requests.
Processes The process management is used to provide the creation, scheduling and
management of various processes.
Memory Management The memory management is used to provide the memory
storage allocations to the system.
File System The file systems are used to provide the maintenance of the files, folder
structures in the drives.
Network Protocols The network components and the protocols are used to
interconnect the system to the routers, or bridges and so on.
Interrupts This section is used to maintain the interrupts for handling the connections
with the peripheral devices.
Methods for inter process management in Linux
The methods involved in the inter process management in LINUX include the
following:
The creation of the process
Process call
Execution
The process is created at first using the fork statement. The process is then called after
the execve command. The LINUX system is used to maintain the single program
execution.
The signals only carry the information about the process and about the state of the
process whether it is running or not. In the LINUX system, communication is passed
by using scheduling states and wait.queue structures.
