Kieran Bradley created a radio documentary on Brexit for their final major project. Over 9 weeks, Kieran conducted research, surveys, interviews, and experiments with audio editing software. They created logos, release forms, and evaluated their work. In later weeks, Kieran focused on production and improvements based on feedback. Throughout the process, Kieran learned new skills in interviewing, editing, and reflection that will help with future studies.

2. Process, Final Major Product. Week 1
This week I started working on initial plans, and research for my final major product. I have decided to create a
radio documentary based on Brexit, I decided to do this because I want to explore and understand why people
either voted, leave or remain, to do this, this week I created a survey using Survey Monkey, creating 10
questions, I also created an interview consisting of three questions. I really feel that this is a great way for me
to gather a wider understanding. I also researched a number of different pre-existing products that are similar to
the product I want to create. this involved me, looking at all of the different elements that make up each
product and especially the technical elements. I thought that creating my mind maps, gave me a great chance to
explore my ideas in further detail, and also explore every element that would make up the product, for
example, sound effects, music, interviewees.

3. Process, Final Major Product. Week 2
This week, I completed my audio experiments both on Audition and Premiere Pro, this week I also
started and completed a number of different logo designs, with different colours and fonts in each. I also
started my experiments processes, this is a PowerPoint where I put all of my experiments and write about
my thoughts and feelings on each one that I did, I also had to explain each tool that I used throughout my
experiments. I think that this is a great way to understand the tolls you have used. Overall I am very
pleased with how my experiments turned out, I think that the font choice on my second logo really fitted
well, compared to my first logo design, where the font that I chose wasn't easily readable, and the
Yorkshire rose is a logo in it's self, therefore it wasn't original, so could not be used. The tools that I used
during this experiments were, the razor tool to cut out any bits of audio that I didn’t need. I also used the
import tool, to import tool, to import sound effects and music to my production.

4. Process, Final Major Product. Week 3
This week I began and completed the Pre-Production stage, of my Final Major Project, in this PowerPoint I talked and explained the possible health and
safety problems that I may occur during the production of my Final Major Product. I also talked about contingency planning, this part involved me talking
about possible problems that my occur to do with the producing of my product, such as for example the computer not having the correct software on that I
need to be able to edit my radio documentary. I also created a mood board with a number of per-existing logo images, I thought this would be good because
it gives me the chance to gain inspiration for when I come to create my product. I also made release forms, for the people that I plan to interview during my
production, this form allows me and gives me right to do that and is an important part of pre-production stage. I also created a script, giving a brief outline
of what I plan to say, I also created several questions that I plan to ask. Also I created a list of sound effects that I plan to use and music ideas for my
documentary. I made sure that all music was royalty free. I am happy with the planning I have conducted for my Final Major Product, I feel as if I have
gone into good detail about the different aspects that I need to cover, such as health and safety and contingency planning, I also think that I have show good
progress throughout the year with each unit, I am doing something that I thoroughly enjoy and I am making sure that I put 100% of effort in to this, to get
the grade required for next year.

5. Process, Final Major Product. Week 4
This week I started with the Production stage on the Final Major Project, I conducted two
interviews, to do this I used a voice recorder with also some pre wrote questions. after I had
recorded the interviews I began the editing process on Adobe Audition, I am very pleased with
the way that my editing is going, I also plan to make my second interview, more of a package. I
will be putting a music bed in with a number of different clips to bring to life what the person is
saying. I think as I have continued to use this software I have got gradually better, within
editing. I am happy with the way that my editing it turning out and it is starting to sound exactly
how I expected it to.

6. Process, Final Major Project. Week 5
This week, I continued with the production of my Radio Documentary, I started to create a package, after I had finished editing my
first interview, I then started to edit the second interview that I did, I put it in to a software called Adobe Audition, where I placed
a music bed underneath the audio and started to import a number of different sound effects to bring the audio to life, for
example my interviewee talks about the NHS and world war 1 and 2, so I found some battle war sound effects and placed them at
the point where he talks about this. I also found a some hospital sound effects, “beeping” and a “siren” and placed them at the
point where he talks about this. I also used a number of different tools when editing this package, I used the Razor tool to cut out
the audio that I didn’t need, I also used tools when importing the different sound effects, to import it I first found the sound
effects that I wanted, I then downloaded, once I had downloaded the sound effects on to the computer I drop and dragged them
in to Adobe Audition. This week I also started to create my logo, to do this I used the software Photoshop, I got the text font for
“Da Font” it’s called “The Big Bold Font” I have chosen this type of font because, I think that it would stick out to my audience
also because it looks very bold. I have also chosen two colours for my font, red and black, I have chosen these colours because I
think they make my logo very vibrant and also because red is the main colour that we are attracted to, and the first colour that we
see when viewing something. I got inspiration for my logo from the pre-existing BBC logo, as you can see that I have placed
spaces between each letter.

7. Process, Final Major Project. Week 6
This week, I completed my second release form for my production, this form gives me
consent to use a person within my production, and also to use a image or any audio that I
may produce. I also helped Louis to get photos for his project. Towards the end of the
week, I emailed all of my product over and backed it up. I feel as if I have completed my
audio, and I think it sounds good, and is almost there to completion, I think after the week
of improvements I will be ready to submit it fully, today (Friday 25th May) I will be
receiving my feedback for all of the PowerPoint's that I have submitted. I am looking
forward to taking on the feedback I receive and making my grade higher.

8. Process, Final Major Product. Week 7
• This week I carried on with my production, adding the finishing touches to it, and importing
all of the sound effects and music needed. I also received my feedback for my previous units,
so I have been adding improvements where needed. I am happy with the way my production
has gone and think that overall it looks professional and the sound is at a good quality. The
tools that I used throughout were the Razor tool, I also used the “Gap” tool, this was used
whenever I cut my audio, to fill gaps and make my audio look neat.

9. Process, Final Major Product. Week 8
• This week I began and finished my Evaluation, I think this was a great chance for
me to reflect on my work. I also got given feedback on my product. This helped me
understand where I may of gone wrong, and understand improvements. I also
think that doing my Evaluation, really helped me because it has given me the skills
on how to pick a part my work and look at all of the different elements that make
up my product, and look at the advantages and disadvantages of my product.

10. Process, Final Major Project. Week 9
• This week I carried on with my improvements, I focused on my production towards
the end of the week, the improvements that I made on my production were I re-
recorded one of my interviews and edited to make it sound good, I re-recorded my
interview because listening back to my older one there were a lot of “sniffs” and it
got to the point where it was easier to just re-record the interview. Carrying out
improvements on my work, has given me the chance to get me a higher grade and
look more closely at each area for when I come to continue with my study in the
future, for example make sure I’m creating the right amount of mood boards,
adding a sufficient amount of information to my initial reaction.
