Northern plains lie to the south of the Himalayas. It is a large flat area
which extends from Punjab in the west to Assam in the east.
The northern and north eastern part of India have a long range of
mountains. This chain of mountains is called “The Himalayas”.
There is an area which is big, dry, sandy and rocky towards the west of
Northern plains. This area is known as the great indian desert.
This is a high land located to the south of the northern plains.
A coast is the land alongside or near a sea or an ocean. The coast between
western ghats and the arabian sea is known as the western coastal plain.
The coast between eastern ghats and the bay of bengal is known as the
eastern coastal plain.
