Data Center Services provides 24/7 operations and management of two data centers, including physical security, facilities management, processing and backups of data, production and delivery of reports, change management, and system monitoring. It is comprised of three services: Production Support, Operations, and Facilities Management. Production Support bridges development and operations to provide application support, problem/change management, performance analysis, job scheduling, report services, and general administration support. Operations monitors systems and complies with daily processing at the Mt. Washington data center. Facilities Management offers environmental controls, power distribution, security access, monitoring, and co-location services for the two data centers.
2. Data Center Services provides:
24/7 operations of the Data Centers located on the Mt.
Washington and East Baltimore campuses, including
controlling physical security and facilities management of the
Data Centers.
Timely processing of data, including backups on the various
platforms housed within the Data Centers
The production and delivery of electronic and printed reports
Control of the production environment through change
management
Monitoring of various systems.

3. Production Support was created to bridge the
process and procedural gaps between
applications development, technical support, and
operational areas for application implementation
control and support services.
Production Support provides the following for

Online report viewing and report distribution

5. Operations is a 24/7 organization that supports
both JHHS and JHU systems and applications.
Operating out of the Mt. Washington Data Center,
Operations:
Monitors both mid-range and mainframe systems
Complies with daily batch processing schedules
Prints and distributes an average of 935,000
printed pages per month
Co-ordinates with the off-site storage vendor to
ensure the necessary requirements to satisfy our
Disaster Recovery initiatives are maintained.
6. Facilities Management offers managed data
center environmental controls, power
distribution, load balancing, backup power
systems, controlled security accesses and
monitoring. Co-location services such as server
hosting is also offered.
9. The MTW facility was opened in May, 2005, as a 5,332 square foot center. A
second center, 6,490 square feet, was opened in November, 2008. The facility
has been operating at 100% availability since 2006.
