This document provides an overview of the Watson Foundations for CSPs (WFC) architecture, which uses four analytics components - discovery, detection, decision and drive - to enable use cases across various telecommunications business capabilities. It describes how WFC integrates predictive modeling using SPSS, real-time analytics using InfoSphere Streams, and other components to power analytics applications for areas such as customer experience management, fraud detection, location-based services and more.

IBM Watson Content Analytics: Discover Hidden Value in Your Unstructured DataPerficient, Inc.
Healthcare organizations create a massive amount of digital data. Some is stored in structured fields within electronic medical records (EMR), claims or financial systems and is readily accessible with traditional analytics. Other information, such as physician notes, patient surveys, call center recordings and diagnosis reports is often saved in a free-form text format and is rarely used for analytics. In fact, experts suggest that up to 80% of enterprise data exists in this unstructured format, which means a majority of critical data isn’t being considered or analyzed!
Our webinar demonstrated how to extract insights from unstructured data to increase the accuracy of healthcare decisions with IBM Watson Content Analytics. Leveraging years of experience from hundreds of physicians, IBM has developed tools and healthcare accelerators that allow you to quickly gain insights from this “new” data source and correlate it with the structured data to provide a more complete picture.

The presentation included a sample of a Food Production Index of the Philippines from 1999 to 2013 Analytics presentation conducted at Asia Pacific College, Manila, Philippines. The report was used in Advance Emerging Technology class at the University of the East, Manila, Philippines.

As the scope of big data rapidly expands, so does the scope of the analytics that are necessary to extract insight from that data. It is simply impossible for humans or indeed rules-based engines to take that information to action. More and more, clients need analytics to make the best decisions possible; or better yet, embed those analytics into processes to automate the decision-making process, which they simply the answers based on the questions being asked at the point of impact. In order to address these rapidly evolving needs, we need to ensure the right analytics capability are deployed to suit each situation, each point of interaction and each decision point within a process. Join this session, and learn how IBM can provide a solution for the varying types of analytics: from descriptive to predictive to prescriptive to cognitive.

(BDT306) Mission-Critical Stream Processing with Amazon EMR and Amazon Kinesi...Amazon Web Services
Organizations processing mission critical high-volume data must be able to achieve high levels of throughput and durability in data processing workflows. In this session, we will learn how DataXu is using Amazon Kinesis, Amazon S3, and Amazon EMR for its patented approach to programmatic marketing. Every second, the DataXu Marketing Cloud processes over 1 Million ad requests and makes more than 40 billion decisions to select and bid on ad impressions that are most likely to convert. In addition to addressing the scalability and availability of the platform, we will explore Amazon Kinesis producer and consumer applications that support high levels of scalability and durability in mission-critical record processing.
Enterprises, mid-market, and SMBs all have one thing in common: their business applications are critical. Companies of all sizes are running SAP, Oracle, Exchange, and many other business applications in the cloud to simplify infrastructure management, deploy more quickly, and lower cost. AWS offers a reliable and flexible cloud infrastructure platform that enables customers to run any type of Windows or Linux based business application, from small departmental solutions to world-wide mission-critical production ERP (remove) systems in a secure, scalable and robust environment. Come along to this session to learn how large scale systems like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft and others are being used by enterprise customers of all shapes and sizes. In this session you will discover some of the challenges and approaches that will make you successful in deploying and operating these systems on AWS. This is a must session for enterprise customers that are looking at moving material workloads into the cloud.

Big Data Day LA 2015 - Event Driven Architecture for Web Analytics by Peyman ...Data Con LA
As integrated web analytics evolves to both a service oriented and event based model, there will be higher emphasis on moving toward event based analytics. Business analytics is moving from purely counts of analytics to time-series, relationship and usage analytics. Examples of web analytics that can take advantage of this architecture are conversions analytics or cross channel marketing.
The advantage of storing raw event data is that you have maximum flexibility for analysis. For example, you can trace the sequence of pages that one person visited over the course of their session. You can’t do that if you’ve squashed all the events into e.g. counters. That sort of analysis is really important for some offline processing tasks, such as training a recommender system (“people who bought X also bought Y”, that sort of thing). For such use cases, it’s best to simply keep all the raw events, so that you can later feed them all into your shiny new machine learning system.
In this session we are going to elaborate on using Kafka, an Event Processing framework (e.g. Storm or Spark Streaming) and either Hadoop or EDW for building an Event Driven Architecture.

14. Discovery using structured data
• A typical discovery uses statistical tools to identify pattern in data.
• Discovery may contribute new derived attributes for further analysis or reporting.

Quiet Weekday people

Almost no Homebodies any time
15. Mobility Lifestyles (developed by IBM)
* from the Television show, “Cheers”. Norm was an accountant who went to the same
pub every night
16. Mobility Lifestyles
• How do the lifestyles of subscribers vary by location and time
of day
• Why do lifestyles matter for Retailers?
§ Certain lifestyles tend follow habits much more than others: Daily
Grinders and Homebodies go to the same locations often and
are predictable. The other lifestyles tend to be less predictable
17. Mobility and Usage Lifestyles
Very distinct patterns, this level of differential is high

26. Integration with Discovery
1. Data Collection and Pattern identification.
2. The offline modeling step- using the SPSS Modeler- creates analytic models based on labeled
training data. The data can be hosted on any platform example: data warehouse, Pure Data Systems
for Analytics, Hadoop.
3. The intermediate integration step - There are two alternatives to deploy SPSS models in streams.
One is to generate the PMML model. There is a limited set of models that generate the PMML
format. The PMML model is then deployed in the Streams mining toolkit. The other approach is to
publish the model to generate the .pim, .par and .xml files which are supported by the SPSS Analtyics
Toolkit for Streams. These files are then configured on the SPSS Modeler Solution Publisher.
4. The on-line phase– Using Sreams SPL (Streams Processing Language), streams developer further
uses appropriate operators and input output definitions of the models. This enables realtime
analytics.
5. The action is triggered for instance executing a mobile campaign when a defined threshold is
interpreted in real time.

During the offline phase, SPSS Modeler accesses the training data residing in the Pure
Data System for Analytics and creates the Model Nugget. The Modeler ODBC node can
access the database table’s definitions as well as the data, and retrieves the relevant
training data according to the selection criteria. Once trained, the Modeler creates a
Model Nugget which can be published to Streams.
