Part of the challenge with this is of course structuring the unstructured data out there. This is why the Data Science team at Meltwater has the mission to ingest, categorize, label, classify, and a whole range of other enrichments on the content that we crawl in order to index it properly in our big data architecture and make it available for our insights dashboard. We do these enrichments in +17 languages.
Babak Rasolzadeh is the Director of Data Science & NLP at Meltwater and has a team of 24 engineers on this team. Prior to Meltwater, Babak was the co-founder of OculusAI, a computer vision start-up in Sweden, that was sold to Meltwater in 2013. He holds a PhD in Computer Vision, from KTH in Sweden, and has worked on things ranging from self-driving cars to humanoid robots and mobile object recognition. He is an advisor for several startups here in US and Sweden.

Mr. Noppadaon Kaewsim submitted his weekly report as part of the KID-WA engineering team. He explained that he wrote an Arduino program to control the wattage of a microwave using buttons, turning the relays on for a few seconds and off for a few seconds. For example, when the start button is pressed, LED 2 will show for 13 seconds while LED 1 will show for 7 seconds on the microcontroller board. He also helped design a PCB board with a friend by viewing the circuit on a protoboard.

Chutipong Kankamnanta submitted a weekly report for their group called Instinct. This week, they programmed a microcontroller connected to a sound chip and tested it until it was working properly. They then created a PCB board and installed it into the product body, checking that the circuit was complete and functioning as intended. The team received an LCD monitor this week and began learning how to connect it. Using AVR Studio 5 and Khazama programming, the team programmed an Atmega 8 microcontroller to connect to and control the LCD monitor and other devices, but were not yet successful. Their goal for next week is to successfully program the microcontroller.

For example, when the start button is pressed, LED 2 will show for 13 seconds while LED 1 will show for 7 seconds on the microcontroller board. He also helped design a PCB board with a friend by viewing the circuit on a protoboard.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
