3. 1. SEIRI – Cleaning up/Sorting
- Distinguish between those things that are needed and not
needed
- Keep needed item at job site and remove unnecessary items
2. SEITON – Set in order
- Arrange all necessary items in right order in designated area
- Make it easy to find and pick up necessary items
3. SEISO – Shine
- Clean your workplace completely
- Problems are more visible when everything is neat and clean
4. 4. SEIKETSU – Standardize
- Maintain high standards of workplace organization at all times
- Maintain everything according to its standards
5. SHITSUKE – Sustain
- Use and follow standard procedures
- Follow company rules and regulation
- Follow safety procedure at all times

6. Before SEIRI
An almirah was storing
files and stationary,
But it was not sorted
After SEIRI
All files were checked for
relevance on following

7. Seiton- (Set in order)
All the files as well as racks were labelled
Unnecessary files were send to the archives section
A list was sticked outside almirah to make search easy and
quick
More frequently files were kept in specific rack
Seiso- Cleaning
Rules were set to clean up the almirah every weekend in the
order prescribed

9. SEIKETSU- ( Standardization)
Standards were set for regular practice of 5s to be implied
among employees
For eg. Labeling new file , putting them in sequence of months
and in the appropriate rack
SHITSUKE- (Making it a habit)
It was required to be followed strictly, regularly and by
everyone right from top to bottom…
Everyone was oriented towards the consecutive benefits and
how important is everyone role in its implementation

5 S in services helps to how to organize a work space for
efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items
used, maintaining the area and items, and sustaining the new
order build understanding among employees of how they should
work.
