3. research
• The strengths of my research: The strengths of my research would be that
I studied a wide range of different animation styles. These range of
different animations styles showed me what type of animation is good to
use as a beginner and how to do all the types as well. I also researched
drawing skills and photoshop techniques for animation.
• How the researched helped my product: This helped my product because I
could learn 2d animation and get tips on how to animate on photoshop as
well. It also explained to me the different types of 2d animation like how
some are used in adverts and how others can be used in animations and
videos etc. Another thing is how researching different drawing styles and
how to animate drawings helped my product as it gave me different ideas
to use in my animation.
4. • The weaknesses of my research: One weakness of my research would be that I
didn’t research enough drawing techniques to the standard that I wanted. It
would have been a lot easier if I researched more about human body sketches
in different angles and poses because then if I had it would have helped with
animating more movement in my production.
• What I could’ve done better/improved: I wish I could have improved upon
researching the human body so In my production I would have been able to
bring my characters to life a bit more, I probably would have re drawn my first
bedroom scene and re done my character because I wasn’t as happy with it as
I thought, I could have added movement to when I was sat watching tv like
flicking through channels etc.
• What effect would this have had on my product: If I had done this in my
animation I feel like it would be a lot easier to get my story across because
things like facial expressions and body language can go real far to tell someone
how they feel just by looking at them.
5. Planning
• The strengths of my planning: I used different products of animations and compared the
differences and qualities then experimented in photoshop. I worked on things like symmetry
and different angles of the face and even different eye styles and animating from the eyes.
• How my planning helped my product: the planning helped my products because I learned
different techniques to use in my animation and I also learned more about photoshop as a
whole which made things a lot easier to work on.
• The weaknesses of my planning: One weakness of my planning would be the fact that I
didn’t explore different techniques based on movement of the body. It would have made
things a lot easier if I had experimented with different movements.
• What I could’ve done better/improved: I could have improved on the different face angles
that I experimented with because it was a lot harder than I thought to put it into my
production, that also goes for the movement as well.
• What effect would this have had on my product: the proportions of my characters would
have been a lot better and it would have looked better as an animation if the proportions
were more correct.
6. Time Management
• Did I manage my time well? I think this project I did a lot better in time management
because I pretty much completed my fmp on time and it came out better than I expected, I
did have work to improve on but that’s mainly because I got my pc late in the project so all
my work had to be done at college but in the end it all came together.
• Did I complete my project on time or would my products have improved with additional
time? Even though I completed my work on time I wish I had more time because I think it
would have been even better.
• What I would’ve done if I had more time to produce my work: I could have added the
background music I wanted and maybe would have added some colour in more areas. One
main area I wanted to work on for things in term of colour would have been the bedroom
scene at the end. It was detailed and animated nicely, it would have been the perfect scene
to add some colour to and even the walking scene would have been nice for colour.
7. Technical Qualities
One similarity to this would be that both
products don’t always use smooth animation
and both were produced on the same
software as well
Both products also
used layers to create
a choppy moving
background
Animation short: All your pain in sky c.o.t.l
My animation: The little things
Another similarity would be how both
animations are short snappy and straight
to the point
One difference
about the
animations would be
the general theme of
the animations and
how it gives out
different messages
Another small difference
would be the use of
drawing style and detail
8. Aesthetic Qualities
I like the look of my project because I feel that it is unique compared to other
products as well and because it brings back a lot of memories too. I feel that my
work was creative but it could have been even more creative if I had more
experience in animation and drawing. One of the visuals I particularly liked was
the transitions between scenes because the flowers are the representation of
time passing by.
If I was to improve on my work as a whole I would touch up on the detail and
add more frames so all my animation could have been smooth rather than
choppy.
One strength in my work is that you can see the improvement of my animation
skills and drawing skills and the way I put detail in more at the end.
One weakness of my work would be the beginning of my work, although the
animations shows progress, I would have redone the work completely and made
everything look better in the beginning overall.
9. Audience Appeal
• I feel that I appealed to my target audience in the way that they feel satisfied with the
theme of love/ romance that surrounds my animation. It may also have appealed to them
because of the art and animation it’s self as well. My animation was based around love
and memories with the target age range being 16+.
• One specific scene I feel that would have appealed to my audience would have been the
walking scene outside. It represented how lovely one person can feel to then be reunited
with someone you love and all the colour in your life comes back to you. People who love
romance can feel how colourful life can be when you are with someone special.
• Another scene that would have appealed to the audience would be the ring scene.
Keeping apart from someone you love can be very hard and it can make a negative
impact on the environment around you, you can see things start to change in most cases
a bad way. This can be highly relatable to people who are in relationships who have to
spend time apart.
11. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I think your ways of showing time passage were really cool, as were your
unique transition pieces. Also I think the style of the shifting animation
slides to make stationary things move really suits the style. I do think the
the bit where you were walking in college then to the scene where you
and your boyfriend hug did confuse me a bit but overall I just really love
how well done the project is and the scene where you were laughing in
your chair.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I would say that it might be a little hard to understand
the plot without more context than is provided
(although that might not be a problem as some
people like others to take their own interpretation)
12. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The storyline was easy to follow and it was a very cute story that
represented sometimes that love was hard when spending all that
time away from a loved one and I was able to see that withing this. It
was very good and I enjoyed watching, it gave me a little eye into what
your life was like a bit during covid with your boyfriend.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Would have been nice to have maybe some
background noise like birds chirping or some
white noise.
13. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
I think its really pretty. The flow of the whole thing was very good. The story
told here is easy to understand, and its very sweet. I really liked the gradual
improvement of the art itself as the animation went on too, which really
added to it. I really like the idea of the flower shows the time, and how they
both lived during the covid pandemic, what they did to spend time with each
other and other little things.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• -For a better animation, more slides between each movement for smoother
transitions.
• -Music would’ve fitted really nicely, as song choice could help with
understanding the story being shown.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree that I definitely should have put more
context and made a longer animation to give them
more content and I really wish I had the time to
put background music in because it would have
made the animation so much easier to follow.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I don’t have anything to disagree with at all.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
What changes I would make to my product based upon my peer feedback and why: I
would definitely had made my animation longer and given people more of my story
because then it is there for people to understand and relate to on a more personal
level. I would also make it easier for people to understand the plot as well as in some
cases it does jump a lot but that’s why I put transitions in between, for time passage.
I would have put music in and background noise as well if I had the time because
music is a good way to interpret emotions in things like animation and music in general
is something nice to listen to while watching something. Background noise would have
been a really good idea as well because it brings the scenes to life more so I would
definitely add that to my product.
Another thing is that if I had more experience I would have created a full smooth
animation for all my transitions so then it brings out more context to the use of time
passage.
Id make all these changes because there is always something to improve on in any
work piece and it doesn't hurt to try out different things because it’s all part of the
learning experience.
