Aaliyah Hutchinson kept a production diary for her animation project. Over the course of several weeks, she documented what went well, what could be improved, and her goals. While her research and planning went well, time management and backing up her work proved challenging when she lost 2 weeks of production work. Her goals were to complete the project on time by cutting it down to 5 questions and learn from the experience by backing up her work in the future.

2. Research week
• One thing I did well: I feel like I did quite a lot of relevant research for my
project especially researching about the different types of animation, I feel
like it’s important to establish which ones there are and what one I’m going
to use. I also feel like researching about 2d animation was very interesting
because its now becoming less used over the new way of 2d animation.
• One thing I could have improved on: I wish I had researched about different
software I could have used to animate with because my whole project
would have probably been a lot easier to make and a lot better for that
matter.
• My goal for next week: my goal is to get at least more than 2 pages of
research done and to research about either different animators or some
research on gaming and the gaming industry.

3. Planning week
• One thing I did well: I feel like I did well with my idea generation. I felt like
there was a lot to say about different types of interviews and the amount
of people who use animation over their interviews and the different styles
of animation techniques used. I also felt like found out a lot about how
people conduct interviews when experimenting and also learning about
different brush techniques while doing my drawing experiments.
• One thing I could improve on: I think I could probably improve on my
schedule work and maybe give it more depth and organise it better. I also
think that I could have maybe planned a bit more on how I’m going to
execute my product
• My goal for next week: I’m going to try get a better idea of how I’m going
to Construct my product and how im going to interview

4. Production 1
• One thing I’ve done well: I think creating the outro and intro was a
good idea to settle on first because I normally don’t get time to do
either in my projects a lot of the time. I think I’m going to add more
frames and try make it smoother
• One thing I could improve on: I feel like I could be working at a faster
pace and maybe I could try add more detail to the outro and intro. I
could also be doing the first question at the same time then it
narrows it down to 19 left
• My goal for next week: my goal is to try get 5-10 questions done and
to go back and improve on them once I create the basics of each one.

5. Production 2
• One thing I’ve done well: I’ve completed the outro and intro and I’ve
started more questions, not as many as I had hoped but it is still progress. I
also think that I’ve improved on my drawing a lot and I feel like it will be
very beneficial and easier to work with my own character. I also think I did
well on the first question and I believe that it actually seems rather funny
while also keeping a form of professionalism
• One thing I could improve on: definitely time management, I should be
quicker at making the questions and also trying to create more of the main
sections before adding more frames. I think I could probably get more done
if I pre draw things and maybe re use certain back ground items.
• My goal for next week: I’m going to aim for 15 questions before coming
back from Christmas and I’m hopefully going to start adding some colour to
my work. I feel like working in black and white might make things more
dull.

6. Production 3
• One think that went well: I managed to recover a little of what I had
done from the last two weeks but most of it was gone so I’m basically
restarting and I’ve only got a little bit to work with
• One thing to improve on: backing up my work more would help. Now
thay I’ve lost 2 weeks worth of work it’s harder to get the project
completed so I’m going to make sure to back up everything so I don’t
lose more work. I could also probably get better at organising work
too encase.
• My goal for next week: cut down the project and make it simpler so it
is completed on time.

7. Production 4
• One thing that went well: I’ve managed to do at least 2 questions
after the loss at least and I’m trying to crack through as much as I
possibly can before evaluation. I think this is a bit of progress and
hopefully this turns out okay
• One thing to improve: I’m going to have to make another intro and
outro for my work and I’m not even sure if I will have the time but I’m
going to try make it better than the first version at least
• My goal for next week: I’m going to complete as much as the project
as possible even if it runs into evaluation.

8. Eval week plus extra
• One thing that went well: I managed to complete my evaluation,
update my website a bit and I’ve gotten closer to completing the
project although it’s not how I wanted it to turn out. I’ve had to cut
the project to 5 questions to save time and hope for the best really.
• One thing to improve on: backing up work on a thumbstick for future
use so I don’t lose work anymore. It has been hard trying to sort
everything out after the wipe and i wish I had more time to improve
my work.
• I ended up using a different software which helped me get the project
finished and for future use I’m going to use that software over
Photoshop.
