Nuclear energy is produced through nuclear fission, which involves splitting the nuclei of heavy atoms like uranium in nuclear power plants. This fission reaction releases a large amount of energy. There are two main nuclear reactions - fission, which is used in power stations and marine propulsion, and fusion, which involves fusing the nuclei of light elements. Nuclear energy has advantages of being clean energy and producing a lot of energy from one power plant, but also has disadvantages like public safety concerns, high costs, and challenges with nuclear waste disposal.
