This document describes experiments creating animated characters for a production. The author made a walking character and running character based on course materials, and an original ghost character that appears to move by shifting points from right to left. Each character was composed of many layers, with 8 layers for each limb, to enable smooth movement as the layers are adjusted. The experiments resulted in characters that realistically appear to be in motion.

2. These are the characters I made for my production experiments and I used the ideas on the course
content PowerPoint to make the first and third characters to make them look like they are walking
and running. For the character in the middle (the ghost) I made myself from my own ideas and
made it look like the ghost was moving by moving its points at the bottom move from right to left.
For each of these characters I made many layers, for example for the first and third characters I
made eight separate layers for each limb, as there are many movements that I had to include to
make them move smoothly. And for the ghost in the middle picture I made eight separate layers as
well, moving the points at the bottom of the character move an equal but short amount each time
to make them flow smoothly and they all turned out very well, as it looks as if they are moving.
