This document discusses the demand for and supply of construction management skills in South Africa. It notes that a survey found the construction industry employs around 6,400 people in construction management roles but that graduate output of only 158 per year from universities is insufficient to meet annual replacement needs of around 640 due to attrition. It also highlights that construction management plays an important role in integrating other construction professions but remains an "invisible" profession. Intervention is needed to increase the number of youth choosing construction management careers.
