This document summarizes pilot projects using innovative methods to deliver HIV self-tests, including vending machines, vouchers, and mail delivery in the US. Over 732 HIV self-tests were delivered through these methods between 2012-2014, including 51 via vending machines, 210 by vouchers, and 471 via mail. Of the 159 people surveyed after receiving a test, 6 (3.8%) screened positive for HIV and all 6 were successfully linked to medical care. The projects demonstrated these alternative delivery methods can help expand HIV screening, including reaching some who had never previously tested.
