Dennis Gabor invented the hologram in 1947 and was awarded the Nobel Prize for it. A hologram records light scattered from an object to present it three-dimensionally. Digital holography uses a CCD array to record an interference pattern and transmit it to a computer to create a 3D model. 3D holographic projection has applications in marketing, education, medical diagnostics, entertainment, conferences, home use, VR/AR, the military, and engineering. It is a growing technology that will change how information is viewed.
