4. TYPES OF HOLOGRAM-
Reflection Hologram- In Reflection holograms The image
is stored in a thick emulsion and can be viewed in white light. In
this only selected wavelengths are reconstructed.
Transmission Hologram- Transmission holograms
are those that are illuminated from the back side of the film. In
transmission hologram it diffracts all the wavelength of light. It can
be seen in rainbows.
Hybrid Hologram: The holograms which made using the
diffractive structures or grating of a Holographic object.
5. What is photography?
The science which relates to the action of light on sensitive bodies in
the production of pictures, the fixation of images.
10. IMP PROPERTIES OF HOLOGRAM:
Information holding capacity of hologram is extremely high.
On a hologram information is recorded in the form of
interference pattern, which depends on the type of reference
beam used to produce hologram.
The reconstruction of the image of the hologram can be done
with reference beam of any wave length if it is coherent and
identical to the original reference beam.
One of the key features of holographic image is parallax.
11. • We know that when any real object is observed at different angles, it
appears differently that is, the perspective changes when observed at
different angles. This is called parallax.
• Another interesting and useful feature of the hologram is that, even if it
is broken into pieces, each piece contains the same amount of
information, as possessed by the original hologram. The entire image can
be reconstructed from the broken piece also.
• Holography is very sensitive to vibrations, it is to be recorded only
in the vibration-free environments.
12. Working
A laser beam is made to fall on a
mirror. Another part of the same laser
beam is incident on the object. The
mirror reflects the beam towards a
photographic plate. This beam is
called as reference beam. The beam
scattered from the object is called as
object beam. The object beam
contains information about amplitude
and phase of the object. The object
beam has amplitude and phase
variation according to the structure of
the object.
13. The object beam is also directed towards the photographic plate.
Both object beam and reference beam are coherent as they are
derived from the same laser beam. On, photographic plate, there
occurs an interference of the reference beam and object beam. As
interference is a phase dependent phenomenon, the intensity at
any point depends upon the phases difference between the
object beam and reference beam.
The interference pattern on the photographic plate is a complex
pattern of the maxima and minima. It serves as a complex
diffraction grating. This complex interference pattern, if viewed
directly, does not look like the object. It is not the direct image of
the object. Such photographic plate is also called as hologram.
For visualizing the object in its true form, we have to see in the
direction of maximum intensity .
14. USES:
COMMUNICATION-
Holographic Communication provides a
real-time, detailed capture of human
emotions and expressions, transmitted on
today’s network.
Even in real-time capturing, encoding,
transporting and rendering of 3D
representations.
ARMY AND SPACE-
Military requires holograms for battlefield
intelligence, military planning and explosives
disposal purposes.
High-quality holographic recording, a scientist
can examine the object of interest by putting it
under a microscope at different levels of
magnification, or change angular perspective on it,
all without the object actually being present.
15. MEDICAL PURPOSES-
By using a holographic image, doctors can
improve the quality of medical education
and research. It used to reconstruct the
image of tissue samples which helps to
perform tissue surgeries.
This technology is used for making the
digital 3D prototype for neuroscience.
ENTERTAINMENT-
Holograms are also used in the
entertainment sector. For instance, media
companies use holograms in concerts to
give fans the experience of seeing their
favorite artists perform.
In 2014, hologram technology was used to
promote Michael Jackson's Xscape album.
16. EDUCATION-
Using this technology allows teachers and
students to be part of the future alike.
Classrooms will not have human teachers,
as holographic virtual entities will deliver
lessons. This is a mixed reality, where the
physical and virtual identities merge to
create a digital experience.
Brands use holographic display advertising to
exhibit their products in a 3D view through
LED light shows. Light diffraction creates a
virtual three-dimensional image on a
holographic ads display. Users of this
advertising technique can show 3D animated
and interactive images and objects.
