Working Title:
I chose the name “Crush” because everyone throughout his or her life have
experienced having a crush. The name also gives thought it’s going to be a happy film
about a couple, which at the start is true but towards the end it takes a turn, finishing
with some horror.
Audience:
The age range for my film is 12/12A, films classified 12A and video works classified
12 contains material that is not generally suitable for children aged fewer than 12. No
one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema, unless approved to be
appropriate by a parent. I chose this because my film is appropriate for all ages, but I
will be including something that some younger children may fear. So, I chose this
category so that it’s up to the parent to decide if it’s appropriate for their child or not.
My short film caters to both stereotypical genders (male and female) because it
includes both horror and romantic genres, and it is seen that men like more horror
inflicted film and women like more romantic films. So, my film could be something
that a stereotypical couple could go see since it includes something for both genders.
I chose to cater to both genders because more people would sit down and watch it if
it had something for everybody.
All social classes can see my film but the people in it are shown to be in the average
skilled working class. I chose the characters to be based of skilled working-class
students because that class will be the most relatable to the people that watch my
film. It is going to be filmed in a public college, so it doesn’t show anything expensive
or extravagant.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The idea for my short film is about a girl and a boy, mike and Eva, who have been
friends since they were six years old. Now the sixteen, Mike and Eva are more than
good friends.
Since being in a class with the couple since the start of high school, Chris has started
to have feeling for Eva. Knowing he has no chance of her breaking up with Mike, he
forms his own plan.
Mike and Eva spend a lot of time together, but always lurking around the corner
watching their every move is Chris.
After spending the day together, the couple splits and begins to head home.
Chris sees this as an opportunity and runs after Mike.
Mike realises he’s being chased and started to run, constantly checking behind him to
see if Chris is still there, he does these two or three times, but the last time looks
behind him causes him to trip over. The views don’t see what happens to Mike,

there’s just a 1st person POV where Chris says, “that wasn’t supposed to happen”
shrugging his shoulders and walking off.
Overall my idea is about a girl and a boy, mike and Eva, who have been friends since
they were six years old. Now the sixteen, Mike and Eva are more than good friends.
Classmate Chris notices this and becomes jealous of the couple and wants Eva for
himself. This causes an incident to occur “that wasn’t supposed to happen”. I will
need the research of what types of films my target audience, (teens) likes to watch.
With this research I can specifically cater it to them in the way that it’s filmed.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
With my short film, it only has one line of dialog so I’m going to record the person
saying it before I begin to film so that I can edit it in later. One of the main reasons I
plan on recording it before is because it will come out a lot clearer, since most of the
film is being shot outside.
I plan on filming at college, so I will not need a green screen at any point in my work,
as well as lighting, I won’t need any lights because I will be using natural light
outside.
When I am shooting my film, the camera won’t have to move around a lot so the only
piece of equipment I need is a tripod.
To make sure that I get the right style, I plan on re-shooting the same scene at least
twice so that I can choose parts of each take that I like best.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan on evaluating my work by looking at what I could have done better, whether
this being the visualisation of the shots, the quality of the audio.
I would have wanted more options when creating my short film things such as,
filming locations, casting and crew.
For the final edit of the video I would like the different shots to flow and not look to
jumpy between each take.
