Israelites Rebellion Against God
In the midst of the Israelites forty year journey towards the Promise Land of Canaan, Moses records
the Israelites persistent complaining and rebellion against God. Numbers 21:4 9 first mentions the
complaint of the Israelites against God and Moses, questioning God s plan for them, as they travel in
the desert without food and water. We are disgusted with this wretched food, they say. This wretched
food refers to the manna or the bread from heaven, as mentioned in Exodus 16:4, that God
miraculously provided for the Israelites when food supplies ran out during their forty years of desert
wandering. In spite of God s abundant goodness, they grumbled at Him about their circumstances. In
punishment for the Israelites doing, the Lord sent

The Stonewall Riots And The Lgbt Rights Movement Into Motion
The history of LGBTQ+ Rights is, as any other civil rights movement, is a complex one. For decades
these marginalized people have fought for their basic human rights not only to get married, but also to
be protected in the workplace and use the restrooms in which they feel comfortable. Throughout much
of history, they have been dehumanized and referred to as sexual deviants. The Stonewall Riots put the
LGBTQ+ Rights Movement into motion. The photo being analyzed today was taken one year later on
June 28, 1970, at what is now known as the first ever Gay Pride Parade. The photo is owned by
gettyimages, though the watermark suggests that it belongs to a man named Fred W. McDarrah. The
photo depicts an unnamed lesbian holding a sign which says ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Stereotypes place people in boxes. These boxes tend to harm others, especially marginalized groups.
Those who adhere to a preconceived standard are often ridiculed, and those who do not face a certain
degree of hostility from both those within the group and those outside of it. The way this woman is
dressed is important, because her femininity defies stereotypes about gay women. In a time where
LGBTQ+ people were finally proclaiming their identities, this would have been very important.
Let us return to the photo itself for a moment. Figures stand on either side of and behind the woman.
Those behind her are interestingly blocked off by a barricade. One begins to wonder if they are
onlookers or fellow protesters. The barricade in and of itself is symbolic. Barricades hold people back.
Societal values hold people back. The woman, though, is on the opposite side of the barricade. She
holds the sign which boldly testifies to her sexuality and her beauty, no longer letting the barricade
hold her back. In a time when homosexuality was seen as a mental illness, this could have been argued
as the woman not letting the police holding her back.
It is imperative to remember how LGBTQ+ people have been seen in society, in this case.
Unfortunately, many people see it as being dirty and unnatural. By stepping over the barricade, the
photographed woman loudly proclaims that she does not care about what society believes about her
sexuality. She is a woman

First Impressions Of African Americans
First Impressions It is amazing how a first impression can affect something. It can determine how an
entire culture is perceived. The first impression is the birthplace of a stereotype. A reference point
based on a minority giving off the impression that the entirety is the same. These ideas are a plague to
the human race that goes uninterrupted, and here is no greater victim of succumbing to impressionable
stereotypes than the youth. The first impression of the African people resulted in their image suffering.
Africa has been given the stereotype that everyone is primitive and living in poverty. This is only a
very small population but this idea of them being less fortunate has more traction to the human mind.
People enjoy pitying the less fortunate and let s them feel like they are a good person. This seems
childish and self centered, but it is a major drive in the human psyche to be this way. The idea that
Africa is full of mostly poverty is simply not true. That s only a very minute amount of the population.
There is much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the age of learning and growing into society is the prime time for stereotypes to be set into
motion. When a parent is raising their child, they are not raising a child. They are raising the adult that
they are going to become. Unfortunately this includes raising an adult whose mind is full of
preconceived notions and stereotypes. If humans as a species want to get past stereotyping then they
need to start by training the youth, because the youth is the future of the human race. Unfortunately,
big business and government officials use stereotypes as propaganda to push a product or idea to the
people. It is frightening how well it works, however. People rely on government for the truth because
they are the major figures that are looked up to for answers. Government and big business know this
and use it to their advantage for profit or otherwise suit their

Why Is Sugar Shack Johnny Novak
SUGAR SHACK JOHNNY NOVAK JACK by Craig Fleming Joe Novak, aka Sugar Shack Johnny,
aka Jack, was a complicated man, who lived a life that was in many ways, larger than life. He was a
tough, intelligent, compassionate, and inarguably fearless man who was incredibly comfortable in his
own skin. He is missed and remembered with a lot of love. Joe Novak had bigger balls than anyone I
have ever known, and those big balls were securely connected to his big heart. I am still intrigued, to
this day, by the harmony, and conflict, between his passion for knowledge, empathy, and brawn it was
a very rare combination of qualities, with the all the raw emotion and complexity of a classical music
composition. Joe essentially conducted pool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of his tactics paralleled famed martial artist, Bruce Lee philosophies Be unpredictable, and, Be
like water. However, I think his heydays preceded Lee s popularity. Joe was, by any and all
definitions, a One of a Kind human being. I am proud to have known him and to have been his friend.
I can still hear his grizzly bear voice, and his laughter, in my heart, and in the unsettled corners of my
mind. Sugar Shack Johnny, as he was known in the pool halls of days gone by, had a rare combination
of heart, muscle, and mind. He knew about hard roads and hard rides, and he loved life. Novak was a
fearless tush hog. Even more impressively, Sugar Shack would not carry a gun, although many of his
enemies did carry guns. It is impossible for me to perceive him as his adversaries did, way back then.
He may have been unfairly stereotyped in the darkness of the countless pool halls he undoubtedly
knew inside and out, because he had a fearless confidence about him, borne of circumstance and an
irrepressible will to succeed. But most remarkably, there was a timeless light that emanated from his
charisma. He was not a man who went looking for trouble, but if trouble came looking for him or
someone he loved, I would always put my money on Joe, even when he was 75 years old. Recently, in
spite of his reputation, I sensed that Joe

Marathe s Identity In Jeu De Train Prochain
Given the choice the members of the AFR have made to participate in the Jeu de Train Prochain, these
men are trying to metaphorically counter American fate. They seek to slow what they think of as the
destructive but indefatigable course of capitalist politics, specifically that of dangerous waste policies
that disable Canadians involuntarily. They are both the test subject and footswitch of the trolley
thought problem. Marathe s identity is first and foremost displayed throughout his loyalty to his
separatist organization and his wife, whose costly health issues motivate him in the AFR (Wallace 88).
Born without a skull as a result of pollution from the toxicities in association of our country s invasion
on paper, she has lived a struggle filled life presumably at American fault (Wallace 779). He assumes
Americans act on the selfishness he possesses, one insatiable by compromise, and vocally fixates on
renouncing utilitarianism. Pages 420 to 430 follow a conversation between Marathe and ... Show more

Incandenza is one of the only characters who arguably embraces predeterminism. In one of only
several passages to use first person tense, Jim s interior monologue consists entirely of his father
lecturing him. At the age of six (?) he is imprisoned by his parent s use of future tense, having been
told, you are going to be a great tennis player, you will be truly great, and you will be poetry in motion

Marlon Brando, and his love of tennis from his father. At no time does he stray from either of these

chemical influence of depression and alcohol are overall instrumental in his final product. Addicted to
the lure of death by depression and alcoholism, Jim creates Infinite Jest consisting of two of the things

The Theme Of Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is a poem about love. In the text Shakespeare refers to love as everlasting
and describes love as an instrumental part of being human. Shakespeare further describes love as an
ever fixed mark and never bending. He even goes as far as to say, love s not time s fool which clearly
embodies the point of the text that love never changes and endures through all trials of life and does it
in a concise manner.
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is one of his many sonnets. A sonnet is a fourteen lined single stanza piece
of text, it uses an iambic pentameter which means there are two syllable phrases in each line: the first
shorter and unstressed, and the second longer and stressed . A clear example of this is the eighth line
of the text which states Whose worth s unknown, although his height be taken.
This piece of text is a traditional fourteen lined sonnets and stays true to the limits of such.
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 uses very clear tone throughout the text. This is demonstrated through the
composer s use of language when he states, Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit
impediments. This is one of many examples that makes Shakespeare s great respect for marriage clear.
The various examples from the text show that Shakespeare wrote from a place of respect and love
rather than from contempt and hate, as he suggests that he would not admit independence from those
whose love he takes to be thought out with discretion and time. The composer

Myanmar is trying to exterminate the Rohingya Muslims and innocent people are being punished. The
government/militaries are raping women, slaughtering men and children, and burning down homes.
The government is murdering children who don t even know what their crime is. This is all happening
because the Muslims are staying loyal to their faith and not giving it up. Myanmar is going through
genocide which is when a small group of people are being killed by a larger group of people for their

Was Rockefeller A Robber Baron Or A Captain Of Industry
John D. Rockefeller: Robber Baron or Captain of Industry? John D. Rockefeller could be thought of
as both a robber baron and a captain of industry because he did many things throughout his career that
would make you believe this. In my opinion, Rockefeller was more of a captain of industry because he
did a lot of philanthropic work after his retirement from the oil business. Although, he did use illegal
and very unethical tactics in order to gain his wealth, and he completely ran his competitors out of
business. He would do anything to gain more fortune for himself. When people think of John D.
Rockefeller, only one question comes to mind. Was he a robber baron or a captain of industry? In a

Rockefeller was a captain of industry because, unlike a robber baron who is ruthless in their business
practices, he was extremely generous when it came to money. He gave half a billion dollars, which is
more than ⅓ of his total net worth, to multiple different charities. Rockefeller did create an oil
monopoly, which is when a single company or group owns most of a market for a certain product they
are trying to sell, or a company that completely dominates a particular industry. There are some
advantages to creating a monopoly, like the avoidance of duplicated products being sold. They are also
able to avoid competition and be more efficient with the products they are selling because they can
afford to have the latest machinery and technology to help them. There are also some disadvantages.
Consumers can be charged higher prices for lower quality goods, and the lack of competition could
also lead to lower quality goods. Some would say that this is very greedy because monopolies are
usually associated with robber barons, but I think Rockefeller was an exception to this. As a captain of
industry, Rockefeller was in no way greedy with the money he made from his oil

My First Day Of School
Do you remember your first day of school? I think we all had mized emotions that first day. For some
of us we were scared, not really knowing what it was going to be like. For others, it was exciting, they
wanted to start this new chapter in their lives. So how are you feeling now? For some of you, you may
be feeling happy. Others here probably feel relieved. Still, others here may feel sad that this chapter of
their life has come to a close. Well, no matter how you felt the first day and no matter how you felt the
last day, you have been through a lot these last few years. You have made it through troubling math
problems, long essays, and piles of homework. Yet, you all made it here. You never gave up, you
never wanted to take the easy way out. For some of us, it could ve been just as easy to go get another
form of a high school degree or even quit school all together. You didn t do that! You were strong, you
made it through it all. Still, it wasn t always hard. We have experienced good times these last few
years as well. No doubt you have made good friends, aced hard exams, and hopefully now have a new
perspective on life. Truly, there is not much different from school life, and life in general. In life there
will be times to knock us down. We enjoy the good times but we also prepare for the bad times. How
can we take what we learned from school to help us in life? We made it to the end of school and what
a happy day this is! So how do we make it to the end of life with that same smile on our face? How
will we make it through the hard times we are sure to face? We are going to answer these questions
through this speech.
When you look at the many things technology has done, it truly is amazing, isn t it? Technology can
allow us to talk to someone all the way across the globe, maybe even video chat with them.
Technology has allowed us to watch live major events due to sattelite. Also, technology has made it
possible for us to have a small device in our pocket that can answer almost any question we may ask,
thanks to the internet. So we all agree that technology has done some pretty remarkable stuff. Yet, let
me ask you something....Has there ever been an invention known to man that stop you from locking

The little ones will need to rest, especially after a trip by plane . Real emotional sponges, they cash all
the changes made around them, and it exhausts them. And then, at home, we take a nap in the
afternoon! Do not try to break the rhythm, give them the rest time they need. Take the time to relax,
after all, it s the holidays ! But nothing prevents you to arrange differently these rest periods,
depending on the planned activities. It s all about dosing.
Lighten the schedule family trip 8 go trips
During a family trip, we must accept that we can not all do not all see a destination. No more obstacle
course, endless list of activities or ministerial planning . Remember that everyone is on vacation and
that holidays are done above all to rest, relax and have a good time with the family. Running right on
the left will eventually annoy everyone , and no one will benefit. So, select the activities, and if your
children are old enough to choose, let them tell you what they would like to

Lena Haloway is a 17 year old girl who was lied to her entire life; now she s going to get revenge.
Pandemonium, by Lauren Oliver, is a fiction book. It s a relatable story about a young girl trying to
get through her life. Pandemonium is a good book, but it is considered a young adult (Keller 3) book.
It doesn t stretch your mind as much as some teachers would like a summer book to do. Even though
this is a book for younger people, it is still a terrific choice for a summer read. Hatred is a high tower,
(Oliver 166). This quote from Pandemonium describes how this novel is relatable. Everyone feels
some type of hatred towards something in their lives. This book being relatable helps people today;
they may not be going through the exact same thing as Lena Haloway, mainly because this was a
futuristic book, and there is no such thing as the Wilds (Oliver 9) or a resistance (Oliver 196), but they
can see how she handled the hate. Thus, this book is relatable to many young girls because it is an
adolescent book. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

International Economics And The Field Of International...
I would like to mention some courses that I have taken at Knox College that not only have encouraged
me to take up the particular field of study as a major, but have also fortified me to volunteer and intern
in the field of international development. These courses are: International Economics (Manisha
Pradhananga, Professor), Business Society (John Spittell, Professor) Environmental Natural Resource
Economics (Steve Cohn, Professor) and Environmental Ethics (Bill Young, Professor). These
particular courses had a great impact on my decision to pursue a major in Economics and a double

In International Economics, I had written a research paper on low income nations and their
dependence on primary commodities for exports and its vulnerability to price shocks. I had carried out
my research only keeping applied economics in perspective, therefore, I could not really understand as
to why these low income countries, although having a wide variety of natural resources readily
available for production and consumption, still struggling to alleviate themselves from poverty and
poor health. The reality and the real life scenario of such situations was explained to me in the
Environmental Economics class by Professor Steve Cohn. Toward the end of the term, I was assigned
to write another research paper on greenhouse gas abatement options for third world nations. The ideal

Theme Of Manipulation In Medea
Once he began manipulating Medea, this made him realize, that he can manipulate anyone he chooses
to. After he had captured the Golden Fleece, he abandoned Medea and married the princess of Corinth
hoping to stable his wealth and gain more power. He, in turn, manipulated the royal family only to
have the consistent power he needed and desired. This had then begun to escalate. Jason is now
displaying a pattern of his manipulation. As Jason begins to free himself from his evil ex wife, Jason
manipulates the past into a lie and much bigger problem from his side of the story. His dishonesty
makes his side of the story more believable and by doing so, his manipulation skills had become more
deceivable. Jason is in denial of the many things Medea had done for him and when he told his story,
he used omission in order to deceive his listeners. Jason then says, Dark threats cast out against the
majesties/ of Corinth, count as veriest gain thy path of exile. (27). He then blames Medea and having
Creon ban her from Corinth.
The power of manipulation can easily be misused to aid the person who uses it. Overusing it can harm
the people who are targets to its belongings. If it is left in the hands of the villain, a large group of
people can be restrained by a solitary person. Manipulation in this play is used very dangerously and
ones actions can lead to another. Some characters take their actions too far to the point where they
begin manipulating themselves during the process. Observant and manipulative describes the kind of
woman Medea had depicted. Medea set her mind on getting revenge on a man whom she gave up
everything to be with. She fled her own country and killed her brother just to be with a man she fell in
love with. Only to find out that the one she had loved betrayed her, used her for greed, and left her to
be with a princess. The main reason for her manipulation was only to justify her revenge on her
husband, Jason. However, people stand in the way of her revenge plan, and the only way she can do
what she needs to do is by manipulating others to be on her side. She does this in a way where she
connects with others on a more personal level so they can feel just as bad as her. In Vicarious

Freezing Point Depression Lab Report
Introduction
Molar mass is a fundamental quantity of chemistry. There are multiple ways to find the molar mass of
a substance experimentally; one way is to use Freezing Point Depression by using the following
equation: ΔT= kf*m (Robinson, 2018). The purpose of this lab was to do just that; measure the
freezing point depression of a solution when a solute is added to a solvent, and from that, determine
the molar mass of an unknown substance, along with learning about the influence that solutes have on
liquid properties. A concept of importance to this experiment is freezing point. According to
LibreTexts, Freezing point depression is a colligative property observed in solutions that results from
the introduction of solute molecules to a solvent...and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colligative properties, such as boiling point and freezing point, are dependent on the amount of
solutes added, not necessarily their identities (LibreTexts, 2018). A fascinating concept related to
freezing points is Supercooling. Supercooling is a state where liquids do not form ice even when they
reach temperatures below their normal freezing point; they are trapped in a metastable state (Esrf.eu,
2018). The best example of this is clouds at high altitudes: they contain tiny droplets of water that do
not have seed crystals, and therefore do not form ice despite the low temperatures (Esrf.eu, 2018). The
concept of freezing point depression is applicable in many parts of everyday life. The most common
example of freezing point depression is in the salting of roads when it snows (Kimbrough, 2006). As
the melting of the first flakes on the warm road occurs, a solution of salty water is created which has a
lower freezing point than pure snow (Kimbrough, 2006). Now, the temperature will not get cold
enough to freeze the salty solution the way it can freeze water, keeping ice and snow from bonding to
the pavement (Kimbrough, 2006). In this lab, the freezing point depression was calculated

Bob Taasco Ford Mustang
Bob Tasca knows his stuff and time and again he has proved just how much he does. His work has
been noticed and has earned him praise and appreciation from his peers as well as car enthusiasts all
over the world. His exemplary work on the Thunderbolt drag racers put him on the forefront when it
comes to designers and when the time came; he was called in to put in some work for the Ford
Mustang. Plans to redesign the Mustang for the 1967 and 1968 model years brought about a powerful
machine with the 335 horsepower FE Thunderbird engine fitted under the hood. The thing with Tasca
is that he goes all the way and holds nothing back. He felt that more could be done and more he did, in
fact lightening the package with the installation of the 428 cubic inch FE big block thanks to John
Healey under the hood. The accomplishment of the lightweight design of the Mustang drew attention
to Tasca from Ford who then invited him out to build 50 of the same kind using the 428 cubic engines
effectively being named the Cobra Jet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kindness And Generosity In The Film Cinderella
On September 11, 2001 several men associated with the Islamic extremist group al Qaeda hijacked
four American planes and navigated them into the world trade center, the pentagon and a field in
Pennsylvania. The attack immediately impacted the entire United States as virtually everyone in the
world mourned the deaths of the thousands killed from this act of pure malice. However, a small tribe
in South Kenya, isolated from modern technologies, was informed about this attack around seven or
eight months after they actually occurred. After this tribe heard about the news, not only did they

The theme of the Little Golden Book Cinderella is very similar to the theme represented in the film,
Cinderella. The central theme in the film is that courage and kindness can help overcome the evils and
struggles faced in life. The kindness element in both of these stories is similar as explained before.
The kindness of Cinderella is displayed specifically in the Little Golden Book version because
Cinderella was described as the author as being kind to everyone even Lucifer (4). Lucifer was the
dark black cat who was very selfish and would exploit Cinderella because of her graciousness. The
careful illustration and depiction of Lucifer was also very significant. The illustrator decided to make
the cat a dark black color because it is an archetype that represents evil. The representation expressed
through the illustration directly overlaps with the description of the character which means that it is
very powerful for Cinderella to have the power to show kindness to the cat. Cinderella also displays
hospitality and generosity towards her Stepmother and Stepsisters in both of these versions. The
Stepmother is depicted in both of these stories as torturing and severely lacerating Cinderella.
However, Cinderella still finds a way to remain kind and overcome the anguish and hardships that she
faces. She also portrays these traits in the Grimm Brother s version of Cinderella . However, the

Why Did The Spanish American War Happen
Spanish American War
There were many reasons why the Spanish American War happened. But here are a few big reasons
that helped cause the Spanish American War. Something that caused The Spanish American War was
the explosion of the USS Maine. The US blamed Spain for blowing up the US ship. I think it was
miscommunication because the Americans didn t know what happened. Another reason I think caused
the war is the US wanted Cuba and the Philippines and Spain controlled. The Americans wanted but
Spain didn t want America to have them. A third reason is the US needed Cuba so nobody could sneak
attack them. I think this cause was fear because they didn t want Spain or anybody else to attack them.
The conflict between the United States and Spain over the Spanish American war was caused by
Jealousy, fear and, most importantly, miscommunication.
Jealousy was a big reason why the Spanish American War happened because the US wanted a bunch
of countries that Spain had. The Americans decided to declare war against Spain. As stated from
Theodore Roosevelt, This country needs a war. (Roosevelt). I think this was jealousy because jealousy
means you envy or want something that someone else has. This is what was happening with the US
because they saw what Spain had and envied it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the Spanish American War because the US decided to start a war with Spain to draw Spain away from
the mainland. Last, Miscommunication was the biggest reason why the Spanish American War

Yoga meditation is an exercise program that includes stretching and exercises that use deep breathing
to bring peace and tranquility. While it s true that you can meditate without performing yoga, yoga on

Yoga and Meditation Styles
There are many different styles, forms and intensities of yoga that one can practice. Yoga is not a one
size fits all type of exercise. The beauty of yoga is that anyone at any age, including the elderly, can
practice this ancient art. Many gyms are now offering yoga classes to their members as well as yoga
specific studios which are popping up all across the country. Keep in mind that one style is not better
than another but rather a personal preference. If taking a class, it s important that the student is
comfortable with the teacher, notably; liking one s teacher is also true of learning and practicing
meditation.
Following is a list and short description of yoga styles that have been or are becoming quite popular
all over the world. All yoga styles incorporate meditation into them. * Ashtanga This yoga is for those
who want a serious and physically demanding workout. It involves synchronizing breathing with
progressive and continuous series of postures a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse,

Description of Three Homosexual Potential Veterinarian...
Veterinarians have one of the most diverse roles to play in society. Not only do they participate in
improving the health of animals and ensuring their welfare, they also play an important role in the
lives of humans especially that pertaining to public health and safety. Choosing the optimal candidate
for a veterinary position is therefore a difficult decision. The person must be able to handle all the
differing roles of a veterinarian, not just one or two. When given the choice of three candidates, it may
be a difficult decision for an employer to ethically choose the best candidate to fill the position in the
practice, but it must be done. Ethical considerations for these candidates will be based mostly on
American law with Grenadian law used as well when possible. Before proceeding further with the
discussion, it is necessary to describe the candidates who applied. The first applicant is a veterinarian
who has recently graduated and is well known to the employer as he has spent a lot of time at the
practice. His family is also familiar to the employer. The second candidate is a veterinary specialist
who has possibly participated in self harm activities and is returning from a career break that he took
because he was severely stressed. The last candidate appears to be the perfect choice but his
appearance and attire go against the policy of the practice. All of the candidates are also homosexual.
Before considering the choices an employer must make in order to

Side Effects Of American Imperialism
Imperialism is described in the American history as a the quest for colonial empires . This was
something new for the newly developed country, the request for more natural resources was at its
peak, with countries like Britain, Germany who have practised imperialism and has succeeded in
expanding its power and influence the United State was more than eager to get into this river that
seems to cough out silver and gold. At first, most American viewed this as a positive expansion
because it will help spread American way of life such as democracy. However this idea was not fully
explored by the Americans, they headed into a battlefield with weapons and crafty strategy but
without knowledge of what the war is about and a possible side effect on not just the U.S. Do
Americans in today s worldview imperialism as a positive idea or negative?. Imperialism is viewed by
many an immoral act even if its initial reason was thoughtful, suppression of the American way of life
and the after effect is a stain on the nation that way never be wiped out.
American must begin to look outward. the growing production of the country demands it.... U.S Navy
Officer Alfred T. Mahan perfectly describes the main reason why the American decided to tryout
imperialism. with the booming economy of the second industrial age, U.S was running out of almost
everything except the increment of a worker from the immigrating groups. Rev Strong called it
survival to the fittest now this claim is beyond unnecessary and thoughtless survival to the fittest is
something occurs only in the lower animal kingdom, and survival to the fittest mostly is over food not
recourse like oil. Americans in today s world that understand the definition of democracy will view
this act of expansion an immoral under the declaration of independence you cannot govern a foreign
territory, a foreign people, other people than your own...you can not govern them U.S Senator George
F. Hoar. Now, let s ask us why the revolutionary war was fought, the British former colony now
known as the United States of America was against the imperialism, they did not want to be ruled by
people who can not attend to the needs, they didn t wish to follow the constitution of parliament

Allegory, Symbolism, and Madness – Comparing the Demons...
Allegory, Symbolism, and Madness Comparing the Demons of Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel
Hawthorne
As contemporaries of each other, Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne endeavored to write
about man s dark side, the supernatural influence, and moral truths. Each writer saw man as the center
point in his stories; Poe sees man s internal struggle as madness, while Hawthorne sees man as having
a secret sin. Each had their reasons for writing in the Gothic format. Poe was not a religious man; he
was well educated and favored reading the German Gothic literature, which would become the basis
for his own writing. Hawthorne on the other hand, called on his Puritan Calvinistic background to
influence his writing style. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An allegory for Hawthorne is a moral tale [...] (77). Hawthorne saw his writing in allegorical terms to
bring to the reader s attention concrete realities by way of abstract ideas; he was able to imagine the
natural world into an imaginary supernatural one.
Hawthorne s natural world influence on his imaginary world began within his home; Donald A. Ringe
quotes a passage from Hawthorne s introduction to The Scarlet Letter:
A coal fire diffuses a scarcely visible but mild, heart warm influence throughout the room, while
moonlight from the window produces a very beautiful effect. [...] all the familiar objects of the room
are invested with something like strangeness and remoteness, as if one were viewing them after the
passage of years. [...] such a medium is created that the room seems just fit for the ghosts of persons
very dear, who have lived in the room with us [...] It would be like a matter of course, to look round,
and find some familiar form in one of the chairs (156).
Hawthorne is absorbed into the natural environment around him and in combination with his concerns
for man s moral behavior, he brings to his tales a picturesque quality suited to the allegorical motif.
His motifs would consist of demons, witches, and natural settings as symbols of man s conflicts with
evil and struggle to suppress the sins that plague all men. Hawthorne was comfortable writing about

Giorgio De Chirico s Art
Giorgio De Chirico s art can be viewed one that evolved tremendously over time. However, his
artwork portrayed a number of characteristics and traits that differentiated them from the works of
other artists in his time. This is probably why his art remains a puzzling factor to many from the 20th
Century to date. A wide use themes and concepts can be seen in a number of his works. He has played
a huge role in shaping the surrealist works of art.
As mentioned, Giorgio De Chirico s art differed immensely from those of artists at the time. As a
result of this difference, he appeared to be left out and his work segregated especially by the French
arts men and fellow surrealists. His art was characterized by symbolic objects. His manikins, for
example were spotted without upper body parts or faces. They appeared bizarre. Mostly, his paintings
comprised of natural inspirations. Even if he painted a building, the aspect of nature was seen in the
outcome. Additionally, he used color so as to put emphasis of particular objects. He would use
contrasting colors in his mannequins and would place them in odd sizes and relationships so as to
create juxtaposition. An example of this can be seen in The Disquieting Muses, one of his works of
art.
Enigma is one of his most widely used themes. It can be seen his use of ordinary life objects and
figures. These figures have been used in a context that does not appear ordinarily familiar. They all
appear in a position or element that has been

Government Control In The Government Of 1984 By George Orwell
In the book 1984, George Orwell describes the life of a man named Winston who works for the Ever

inner party, the outer party, and the proles. INGSOC is omnipotent and all controlling of every aspect
of people s lives. This dictatorial society is horrifying to the minds of americans who have nearly total
freedom in their actions and thought. However, with recent changes in government policy on
surveillance, war, education, and the increase of fear of outsiders, it begs the question. Is America
becoming 1984? In the book 1984 by George Orwell, the citizens of Oceania are so fearful and hateful
of the other countries being Eurasia and Eastasia, that they have a daily Two minutes hate which the
government uses to enforce the hate of foreign people upon the population. Included in this
government produced distaste, they have created a Hate Week . A whole week dedicated to hating and
watching propaganda against the party s current enemy. While America does not have nearly as much
propaganda and active government allocated hate for other peoples, American racism and distaste of
foreign peoples, mainly those being of mexican, muslim, and middle eastern races, has grown. In
america, few peoples face more prejudice and hate than muslim americans. So much hate crime and

same pace as the sinoatrial node. The SA node generates action potentials approximately 100 times per

Rhetorical Devices In Advertising
Advertisements are everywhere and are prominent throughout our daily lives, and they affect our
thinking in several ways without us even knowing. Advertisements and the act of advertising, whether
it be a cleaning product, a dog leash, a new invention, a service, etc., employ rhetorical devices and
strategies in order to effectively win over the customer, making them interested in their product. The
strategies that advertisements use are pretty shady and sneaky, and, although may seem illegal, are
actually perfectly fine it s up to the consumer to ensure that the product they are purchasing is what
they are looking for, and advertisers and the manufacturers know this. The rhetorical devices
advertisements use are pretty similar and work in similar ways, the most effect they take is deception.

Lutz explains that help is the number one and most common weasel word (208). This word works in a
simple way; an advertisement says that a product will help with something, which may convince the
customer to buy it, but, again, if the customer has issues with it and attempts to press charges or get
their money back, the company will not be liable, as the word help excuses their product from not
working for them, as the word basically says that it may or may not work. These types of words and
the acts of exercising them within advertisements give rhetoric a bad name especially ethos, which
represents credibility. These advertisements exercise something that is called false ethos as they
establish credibility for the product, but in the instance of that product that isn t working the way the
customer thought, the product and the advertiser/manufacturer are not

Gas Masks During World War I
On October 1914, Germany gassed Britain at Neuve Chapelle, but this did not have much impact.
Later, on 31 January 1915 the first biggest known gas attack was made by Germany to Russia. The
generals had calculated over 18,000 shells fired that had contained liquid xylyl bromide tear gas.
Because of the cold weather the liquid, instead of vaporizing, froze and did not get the best results for
Germany. Ever since then, countries are trying to make better poison gasses and to counter this,
countries have to make better, much more efficient gas masks. By 22 April 1915, Germany struck
again with poison gas but this time with chlorine. The wind helped get the chlorine to the French
territories. The Triple Entente, which is Great Britain, France, Russia claimed that what Germany did
was a violation of international law. Germany disagreed saying that the Hague treaty had only banned
chemical shells, not the use of gas projectors. On The Second Battle of Ypres , it was reported that 90
men died from gas poisoning in the trenches, out of the 207 near the dressing stations forty six out of

Market Entry Modes
International market entry modes allow firms to enter foreign markets and can choose the most
appropriate entry mode for their industry. After analysing market drivers, demand and consumer
behaviour, Pharmaceutical firms may choose the most strategic mode of entry to enter a market. The
market entry mode is strategic and is regarded as a major factor in the Internationalisation process

Pharmaceutical firms may enter foreign markets through Exports/Imports, Subsidiaries,

doubtful. PwC had been collecting large rebates on airline tickets and other travel expenses being
charged as expenses to clients of the firm. These rebates were not being returned to the firm s clients
in the form of savings, but the firm was keeping these rebates for it. This was working, because the

COMANCHE INDIANS
The Comanches, exceptional horsemen who dominated the Southern Plains, played a prominent role
in Texas frontier history throughout much of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Anthropological
evidence indicates that they were originally a mountain tribe, a branch of the Northern Shoshones,
who roamed the Great Basin region of the western United States as crudely equipped hunters and

Their clothing, made of Bison hide or Buckskin, consisted of breechcloth, leggings, and moccasins for

However, it was the horse that most clearly defined the Comanche way of life. It gave them mobility

Horses also became a measure of Comanche wealth and a valuable trade commodity. In
horsemanship, the Comanches had no equal. Children learned to ride at an early age, and both men
and women developed exceptional equestrian skills.

Democratic principle was strongly implanted in Comanche political organization. Each tribal division
had both civil or peace chiefs and war chiefs, but traditionally the head civil chief was most

Truck Accident Statistics Research Paper
So what are the contributing factors to these frightening truck accident statistics?
o Driver fatigue. Truck drivers are pushing their limits to deliver their goods, driving with little sleep
and an extra load of stress. They re driving faster and pushing the envelope of safety. They keep less
and less distance between themselves and the passenger cars nearby.
o Inexperienced truck drivers who lack training.
o Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
o Driving too fast. Did you know that a mere 10 mph over the speed limit can nearly double the
distance a truck needs to brake safely from 315 feet to 400 feet. In wet weather, those figures
practically double to 720 feet for a full stop.
o Following too closely. The DMV recommends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Collisions involving trucks constitute 1 out of every 9 fatal motor vehicle accidents.
While fatalities and injuries of the truckers themselves are concerning, they represent a
proportionately small group of victims. Typically, in fatal truck accidents, only fifteen percent are the
truckers themselves. Who suffers the most from truck accidents? People like you. Innocent people.
Loved ones who did nothing more than get on the freeway to drive home.

Strategic Management of Human Resources
Training models assignment
The modern day work place is undergoing a wide array of changes, all resulted from the numerous
challenges impacting the internal and external environment of business enterprises. Some examples in
this sense include the growing forces of globalization and market liberalization, the increasing cultural
diversity in workplaces, the shift from a manufacturing economy to a service economy, or the
advancement of technology.
In such a setting, the role of the staff members is also suffering modifications as the employees are not
just the individuals operating the machines, they have become the most valuable organizational assets
(Hickman, 2005). The employees are now in charge of creating organizational value and sustaining
the company in attaining its overall objectives. Given this scenario, economic agents come to place an
increased emphasis on the relationship with the staffs and focus on the strategic management of their
human resource (Noe, 2002).
The strategic management of the human resource is revealed at virtually all levels of the relationship
between the employer and the employee, since the need for a new hire is identified, up to the point
where the employee leaves the firm. Some focal points of this strategic HRM include the motivation
of the employees, their training, their reward or the offering of adjacent incentives, such as flexible
working schedules. Overall, it is the scope of strategic human resource management to ensure that

Techniques With Language, The Cut Up Method And Permutation
Brion Gysin created two techniques with language, the cut up method and permutation. The cut up
method involves cutting up a page into four sections, rearrange said sections and then read the
product. The rearrangement of the sections in opposing places extracts new meaning to the text, an
outlook that could not be generated from a logical standpoint. A new found sense of surrealism is
discovered in something already familiar to us.
Surrealist artists of the era were advocating for an art of the unconscious mind. It is by my affirmation
that Brion Gysin s intention behind creating The Cut Up Method was to show language could be used
like a tool to extract new meaning, depending on an individual s subconscious.

A dialogue often breaks out. It speaks.
The means are our machines. These prime agents of the ex plosive force, Nova, are factors of

Cut Ups are Machine Age knife magic, revealing Pandora s box to be the downright nasty Stone Age

Analysis Of The Glass Jar Gwen Harwood
Through the juxtaposition between past and present, organic imagery and a pronounced tone of both
wonder and tranquility marking the language, Gwen Harwood s poetry delineates the nature of grief,
fear, and memory as they personify human experience. The events described in Father and Child , is
an exploration of the existential and moral concerns of the poet. Both poems exemplify the ideals of
maturity as compared to immaturity. The Violets on the other hand explores the reconciliation of past
memories. How one who cannot be comforted in the moment, can be comforted by memories instead.
Fear is the main focus on Harwood s most psychological poem The Glass Jar .
The violets:
In the Glass jar the boy views his father as his rival , concerning the intimacy he shares with his
mother. In describing the mother, Harwood uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His feelings of betrayal are translated to his sleep, as he dreams of his dad playing fiddle and bow to a

Harwood introduces the idea of maturity, responsibility and grief in her poems Father and Child . The
Barn Owl poem is situated around her childhood whereas Nightfall is situated around her adulthood,
through different settings comes different themes, focuses and lessons. Within the first stanza of Barn
Owl , authority is challenged with the child wanting to prove to her sleeping father that she is not an
obedient gentle angel. The child is obviously bitter towards her father, regarding him as old no sayer
which alludes to the controlling, vengeful God of the Old Testament. She thinks that her father is now
robbed of his power because he is asleep and is unaware of her plans. With Harwood contesting

Comparing Standard of Living and Quality of Life Between...
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the market value of all final goods and services produced by factors
of production within a country in a given period of time. It can be calculated using either the income,
output, or expenditure method as illustrated on the circular flow of income diagram below.
Standard of Living, in a purely material dimension is the average amount of GDP per person in a
country (therefore determining access to goods and services). However the term has a much broader,
non material dimension involving issues of quality of life and are therefore much more difficult to
quantify. There is no single measure of SoL, but a range of indicators, which can be used together to

This is because they do not reflect a contribution to the economy, however they do have a bearing on a
population s SoL. GDP measurements also do not include illegal or undeclared transactions, which
may increase material SoL referred to as the shadow economy. Examples include housework and DIY
as well as goods that are swapped in a barter economy. The graph below shows the size of the shadow
economy in different country groups as a percentage of Official GDP, 1988 2000. It illustrates how
much of a nations output is reliant on the shadow economy. This is especially true of developing
countries.

Real GDP per capita also ignores a countries distribution of income, as although average real GDP per
person may be high, there could be a few extremely rich people while the majority of the population
are in poverty. Income distribution in an economy can be illustrated using a Lorenz Curve. In the

The Gini coefficient is an indicator of income equality by measuring the area between the line of
absolute equality and the line of actual income distribution (shaded area above). The larger this area,

Medieval Medicine Research Paper
Middle Ages to Modern
Medieval medicine and procedures have transformed drastically over time from the middle ages to
modern day. During the medieval era, medicine was multi faced, relying on the skills of several
practitioners. Leonardo da Vinci stated, ?Medicine is the restoration of discordant element; sickness is
the discord of the elements infused into the living body.? Educational requirements, procedures, and
diseases have evolved since the medieval era to present day, due to major breakthroughs.
In the middle ages, doctors had limited knowledge (BBC). Doctors were developed through
practicing, not schooling. Beginning in the 15th century, doctors were required to have a minimum
amount of schooling to even be considered a doctor. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pneumonia was present during the winter months because of the cold drafty dwellings. Skin diseases
were common due to the rough worn that peasants wore, and the lack of nutrition (Diseases). The
major disease concern in the middle era was the Black Death. It was spread by rats that were present
on the long journeys of the trading ships (Black).
As I refer back to the ninth paragraph, the Black Death killed over twenty million people in the
Middle Ages. Girolama Fracstora, however, was the first to discover that plaques and epidemics were
not caused by the body. He was also the first person to say that there was an outside source
(Wikipedia). Scientists are led to believe that the spread of the plaque could have been prevented by
the simple use of soap and water. Not all diseases have cures today. Cancer is the leading cause of
death internationally, and is predicted to keep on rising. The second leading cause of death is
cardiovascular disease or CVD. Physicians have proven that patients who lack of exercise and have
poor dietary habits are more at risk to be diagnosed with this disease. For decades they have tried to
discover a cure for diabetes, but have been unsuccessful. Type 1 is thought to be caused by genetics.
Food processing is blamed for type 2 diabetes (Torres). Diseases are evolving every

Medical Malpractice
Medical Malpractice
The doctor patient relationship has been defined differently through the years. In the beginning it
developed into a common calling which meant doctors practiced medicine as a duty to their patients.
Laws were developed to protect patients, therefore doctors used proper care and expert skill. In the
past six centuries, medical malpractice has increased, which lead to revision and addition to the law.
Liability was introduced along with the GIANT of all torts , negligence. Now in today s society, a
doctor s duty is to use reasonable care, skill and judgment in the practice of his/her profession and
when negligent, take full responsibility. What is malpractice? Malpractice is negligence. Negligence ...

In cases like these the doctor is incredibly egotistical and is playing God.
Physicians
who ignore patient requests or fail to ask for consent only build communication barriers and ruin the
profession s reputation. Many people believe doctors are the real victims. They feel doctors are
confined from performing and medical students limit career options in fear of being sued. There are
some illegitimate and ungrateful citizens who insist on filing suits when doctors are not at fault. When
a family member dies, the loss may cause anger and looking for a doctor to sue seems like the right
thing to do. It is human nature to always look for a party at fault in any tragedy. Doctors fears of
malpractice awards also result in bad medical care. New procedures carry a higher risk of harm and
second guessing later, so doctors stick to conventional treatments, even in terminal cases, for fear the
treatment may hasten the patient s death. The opposite is also true, both overtesting and overtreating
are standard methods of beating malpractice suits. Thousands of unneeded surgeries are performed
each year. Expensive technology is regularly misused – CAT scans to diagnose simple headaches, for
example. Also, the few plaintiff s who win unrealistically high awards raise insurance costs for all
doctors. (Nolo Press editors, # 32) In fact, the Canadian Medical Protective
Association has announced a 20 % increase in premiums for

Psoriasis Challenges
Patients who suffer from Psoriasis face many challenges. This skin disease that has no cure is very
difficult to treat and has many physical, emotional and financial problems associated with it. We, as
medical assistants need to be made more aware of this disease. We also need to educate ourselves so
we can help educate our suffering patients. Through education and counsel, as well as emotional and
medical support, we can make a difference in these people s lives. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory
disease of the skin that results in proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes and the infiltration
of immune cells (1). The keratinized layers of dead skin do not slough off as normal skin does; instead
it builds up on the epidermis. The normal regulation of cell generation is hindered by the body. This
disease affects over 1 2% of the general population and does not discriminate against any gender.

cause difficulty wearing shoes and walking without discomfort in them, the psychological effects can
be huge. That being said, treatment options can become difficult because there are many insurance
companies that will not cover or reimburse patients for Psoriasis treatment if the condition doesn t

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fly Ash
India is a fast developing nation and is considered to be the leader of Developing Economies. Our
presence is globally felt in all spheres. We are marching ahead with industrialization and exploring on
foreign markets as well.
We are also quite aware that our emphasis now is on infrastructural development as this is the
fundamental thing for economic growth.
We have been seeing a thrust on construction activities, which started feeling the revival after
demonetization.
Bank rates are now coming down and it is proving to be an impetus to accelerate housing loans in the
very near future. It is strongly hoped that the diminished interest rates coupled to price reduction of

The weight loss happens due to carbon combustion and moisture evaporation and this is called loss on
ignition (LOI) . This is expressed as a percentage. The lower the LOI, the better will be the fly ash. As
per BIS, it should not be more than 5%.
Advantages of Fly Ash
It reduces dead load on structures due to its light weight.
Due to high strength, practically no breakages during transportation.
These bricks do not require soaking in water for 24 hours. Just sprinkling of water before use is
enough. [4]
Points in favour of Fly Ash Bricks Usage
Fly Ash Bricks are environment friendly.
They have higher compression strength compared to the conventional Clay Bricks.
Though presently it is marginally costlier, with the passage of time, cost will come down.
Fly Ash Bricks have lesser decay rate compared to the clay bricks.
Clay Bricks are made by top soil erosion, which is considered as a threat to environment safety. Also,
Clay has all nutrients for good agriculture and non use of clay means a support to good agriculture.
It is a known fact that clay brick is not nature friendly. [5]

Magical Realism In The Film Big Fish
Magical realism is the idea of unordinary events happening throughout a novel or film. The events are
bizarre, yet occur in a realistic setting with normal people. Magical realism is similar, yet is not to be
confused with, fantasy. In fantasy the author creates their own world, whereas magical realism is
based in the real world. Fantasy can include many unrealistic concepts, such as dragons, the land of
make believe and evil witches. All these things would fit in an elaborate fantasy story just fine.
However, with magical realism the illogical events are subtle and the story s plot doesn t necessarily
revolve around the magic. In a way it s like mixing reality with fiction, sort of like a dream. Many
parts of a dream are realistic yet there s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story begins with a raging storm that has been ongoing for three days, the setting of the story is
gloomy and grey. Marquez states, The world has been sad since Tuesday. Sea and sky were a single
ashgray thing and the sands.. had become a stew of mud and rotten shellfish (par 1). This foreshadows
darkness and the possible renewal with the connection to the third day. Amongst all this havoc an
angel arrives and the qualities of human evil begin to show through Pelayo and his wife Elisenda.
When they re told that he is infact an angel, they decide to keep him captive in their house. Pelayo is
very aggressive in his demeanor towards the angel, Pelayo watched over him all afternoon from the
kitchen, armed with a bailiff s club, and before going to bed he dragged him out of the mud and
locked him up with the hens in the wire coop ( par 3). From the moment the couple discovered this
being whom was different then they are, they ostracized him. Marquez highlights the negative
response humans reflect on those who are weak and or odd. Once Pelayo and Elisenda s child
recovered it is stated, they felt magnanimous and decided to put the angel on a raft with fresh water
and provisions for three days and leave him to his fate on the high seas (par 3). Although that would
be better than captivity, it isn t necessarily kind to leave something weak to fend for itself.

Dry Filters During WWII
During the Second World War a multitude of dry filters containing wood wool, sisal fibre, glass wool,
wood chips soaked in oil, and other types of fibrous or granular material were used for removal of the
fine dust (average particle size below 60 micron), but success was very limited.
Wet purifiers such as water and oil scrubbers and bubblers are also effective but only within certain
limits.
The best cleaning effect is obtained by employing cloth filters. However, normal cloth filters are very
sensitive to the gas temperature. In the case of wood or agricultural waste gasification, the dew point
of the gas will be around 70 C. Below this temperature water will condense in the filters, causing
obstruction of the gas flow and an unacceptable

  • 2. Israelites Rebellion Against God In the midst of the Israelites forty year journey towards the Promise Land of Canaan, Moses records the Israelites persistent complaining and rebellion against God. Numbers 21:4 9 first mentions the complaint of the Israelites against God and Moses, questioning God s plan for them, as they travel in the desert without food and water. We are disgusted with this wretched food, they say. This wretched food refers to the manna or the bread from heaven, as mentioned in Exodus 16:4, that God miraculously provided for the Israelites when food supplies ran out during their forty years of desert wandering. In spite of God s abundant goodness, they grumbled at Him about their circumstances. In punishment for the Israelites doing, the Lord sent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Stonewall Riots And The Lgbt Rights Movement Into Motion The history of LGBTQ+ Rights is, as any other civil rights movement, is a complex one. For decades these marginalized people have fought for their basic human rights not only to get married, but also to be protected in the workplace and use the restrooms in which they feel comfortable. Throughout much of history, they have been dehumanized and referred to as sexual deviants. The Stonewall Riots put the LGBTQ+ Rights Movement into motion. The photo being analyzed today was taken one year later on June 28, 1970, at what is now known as the first ever Gay Pride Parade. The photo is owned by gettyimages, though the watermark suggests that it belongs to a man named Fred W. McDarrah. The photo depicts an unnamed lesbian holding a sign which says ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stereotypes place people in boxes. These boxes tend to harm others, especially marginalized groups. Those who adhere to a preconceived standard are often ridiculed, and those who do not face a certain degree of hostility from both those within the group and those outside of it. The way this woman is dressed is important, because her femininity defies stereotypes about gay women. In a time where LGBTQ+ people were finally proclaiming their identities, this would have been very important. Let us return to the photo itself for a moment. Figures stand on either side of and behind the woman. Those behind her are interestingly blocked off by a barricade. One begins to wonder if they are onlookers or fellow protesters. The barricade in and of itself is symbolic. Barricades hold people back. Societal values hold people back. The woman, though, is on the opposite side of the barricade. She holds the sign which boldly testifies to her sexuality and her beauty, no longer letting the barricade hold her back. In a time when homosexuality was seen as a mental illness, this could have been argued as the woman not letting the police holding her back. It is imperative to remember how LGBTQ+ people have been seen in society, in this case. Unfortunately, many people see it as being dirty and unnatural. By stepping over the barricade, the photographed woman loudly proclaims that she does not care about what society believes about her sexuality. She is a woman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. First Impressions Of African Americans First Impressions It is amazing how a first impression can affect something. It can determine how an entire culture is perceived. The first impression is the birthplace of a stereotype. A reference point based on a minority giving off the impression that the entirety is the same. These ideas are a plague to the human race that goes uninterrupted, and here is no greater victim of succumbing to impressionable stereotypes than the youth. The first impression of the African people resulted in their image suffering. Africa has been given the stereotype that everyone is primitive and living in poverty. This is only a very small population but this idea of them being less fortunate has more traction to the human mind. People enjoy pitying the less fortunate and let s them feel like they are a good person. This seems childish and self centered, but it is a major drive in the human psyche to be this way. The idea that Africa is full of mostly poverty is simply not true. That s only a very minute amount of the population. There is much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the age of learning and growing into society is the prime time for stereotypes to be set into motion. When a parent is raising their child, they are not raising a child. They are raising the adult that they are going to become. Unfortunately this includes raising an adult whose mind is full of preconceived notions and stereotypes. If humans as a species want to get past stereotyping then they need to start by training the youth, because the youth is the future of the human race. Unfortunately, big business and government officials use stereotypes as propaganda to push a product or idea to the people. It is frightening how well it works, however. People rely on government for the truth because they are the major figures that are looked up to for answers. • 5. Why Is Sugar Shack Johnny Novak SUGAR SHACK JOHNNY NOVAK JACK by Craig Fleming Joe Novak, aka Sugar Shack Johnny, aka Jack, was a complicated man, who lived a life that was in many ways, larger than life. He was a tough, intelligent, compassionate, and inarguably fearless man who was incredibly comfortable in his own skin. He is missed and remembered with a lot of love. Joe Novak had bigger balls than anyone I have ever known, and those big balls were securely connected to his big heart. I am still intrigued, to this day, by the harmony, and conflict, between his passion for knowledge, empathy, and brawn it was a very rare combination of qualities, with the all the raw emotion and complexity of a classical music composition. Joe essentially conducted pool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of his tactics paralleled famed martial artist, Bruce Lee philosophies Be unpredictable, and, Be like water. However, I think his heydays preceded Lee s popularity. Joe was, by any and all definitions, a One of a Kind human being. I am proud to have known him and to have been his friend. I can still hear his grizzly bear voice, and his laughter, in my heart, and in the unsettled corners of my mind. Sugar Shack Johnny, as he was known in the pool halls of days gone by, had a rare combination of heart, muscle, and mind. He knew about hard roads and hard rides, and he loved life. Novak was a fearless tush hog. Even more impressively, Sugar Shack would not carry a gun, although many of his enemies did carry guns. It is impossible for me to perceive him as his adversaries did, way back then. He may have been unfairly stereotyped in the darkness of the countless pool halls he undoubtedly knew inside and out, because he had a fearless confidence about him, borne of circumstance and an irrepressible will to succeed. But most remarkably, there was a timeless light that emanated from his charisma. He was not a man who went looking for trouble, but if trouble came looking for him or someone he loved, I would always put my money on Joe, even when he was 75 years old. Recently, in spite of his reputation, I sensed that Joe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Marathe s Identity In Jeu De Train Prochain Given the choice the members of the AFR have made to participate in the Jeu de Train Prochain, these men are trying to metaphorically counter American fate. They seek to slow what they think of as the destructive but indefatigable course of capitalist politics, specifically that of dangerous waste policies that disable Canadians involuntarily. They are both the test subject and footswitch of the trolley thought problem. Marathe s identity is first and foremost displayed throughout his loyalty to his separatist organization and his wife, whose costly health issues motivate him in the AFR (Wallace 88). Born without a skull as a result of pollution from the toxicities in association of our country s invasion on paper, she has lived a struggle filled life presumably at American fault (Wallace 779). • 7. The Theme Of Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is a poem about love. In the text Shakespeare refers to love as everlasting and describes love as an instrumental part of being human. Shakespeare further describes love as an ever fixed mark and never bending. He even goes as far as to say, love s not time s fool which clearly embodies the point of the text that love never changes and endures through all trials of life and does it in a concise manner. Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is one of his many sonnets. A sonnet is a fourteen lined single stanza piece of text, it uses an iambic pentameter which means there are two syllable phrases in each line: the first shorter and unstressed, and the second longer and stressed . A clear example of this is the eighth line of the text which states Whose worth s unknown, although his height be taken. This piece of text is a traditional fourteen lined sonnets and stays true to the limits of such. Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 uses very clear tone throughout the text. This is demonstrated through the composer s use of language when he states, Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments. This is one of many examples that makes Shakespeare s great respect for marriage clear. The various examples from the text show that Shakespeare wrote from a place of respect and love rather than from contempt and hate, as he suggests that he would not admit independence from those whose love he takes to be thought out with discretion and time. Rockefeller could be thought of as both a robber baron and a captain of industry because he did many things throughout his career that would make you believe this. In my opinion, Rockefeller was more of a captain of industry because he did a lot of philanthropic work after his retirement from the oil business. Although, he did use illegal and very unethical tactics in order to gain his wealth, and he completely ran his competitors out of business. He would do anything to gain more fortune for himself. Rockefeller was a captain of industry because, unlike a robber baron who is ruthless in their business practices, he was extremely generous when it came to money. He gave half a billion dollars, which is more than ⅓ of his total net worth, to multiple different charities. Rockefeller did create an oil monopoly, which is when a single company or group owns most of a market for a certain product they are trying to sell, or a company that completely dominates a particular industry. There are some advantages to creating a monopoly, like the avoidance of duplicated products being sold. They are also able to avoid competition and be more efficient with the products they are selling because they can afford to have the latest machinery and technology to help them. There are also some disadvantages. Consumers can be charged higher prices for lower quality goods, and the lack of competition could also lead to lower quality goods. Some would say that this is very greedy because monopolies are usually associated with robber barons, but I think Rockefeller was an exception to this. • 13. My First Day Of School Do you remember your first day of school? I think we all had mized emotions that first day. For some of us we were scared, not really knowing what it was going to be like. For others, it was exciting, they wanted to start this new chapter in their lives. So how are you feeling now? For some of you, you may be feeling happy. Others here probably feel relieved. Still, others here may feel sad that this chapter of their life has come to a close. Well, no matter how you felt the first day and no matter how you felt the last day, you have been through a lot these last few years. You have made it through troubling math problems, long essays, and piles of homework. Yet, you all made it here. You never gave up, you never wanted to take the easy way out. For some of us, it could ve been just as easy to go get another form of a high school degree or even quit school all together. You didn t do that! You were strong, you made it through it all. Still, it wasn t always hard. We have experienced good times these last few years as well. No doubt you have made good friends, aced hard exams, and hopefully now have a new perspective on life. Truly, there is not much different from school life, and life in general. In life there will be times to knock us down. We enjoy the good times but we also prepare for the bad times. How can we take what we learned from school to help us in life? We made it to the end of school and what a happy day this is! So how do we make it to the end of life with that same smile on our face? How will we make it through the hard times we are sure to face? We are going to answer these questions through this speech. When you look at the many things technology has done, it truly is amazing, isn t it? Technology can allow us to talk to someone all the way across the globe, maybe even video chat with them. Technology has allowed us to watch live major events due to sattelite. Also, technology has made it possible for us to have a small device in our pocket that can answer almost any question we may ask, thanks to the internet. So we all agree that technology has done some pretty remarkable stuff. Yet, let me ask you something....Has there ever been an invention known to man that stop you from locking ... It s a relatable story about a young girl trying to get through her life. Pandemonium is a good book, but it is considered a young adult (Keller 3) book. It doesn t stretch your mind as much as some teachers would like a summer book to do. Even though this is a book for younger people, it is still a terrific choice for a summer read. Hatred is a high tower, (Oliver 166). This quote from Pandemonium describes how this novel is relatable. Everyone feels some type of hatred towards something in their lives. This book being relatable helps people today; they may not be going through the exact same thing as Lena Haloway, mainly because this was a futuristic book, and there is no such thing as the Wilds (Oliver 9) or a resistance (Oliver 196), but they can see how she handled the hate. I would like to mention some courses that I have taken at Knox College that not only have encouraged me to take up the particular field of study as a major, but have also fortified me to volunteer and intern in the field of international development. These courses are: International Economics (Manisha Pradhananga, Professor), Business Society (John Spittell, Professor) Environmental Natural Resource Economics (Steve Cohn, Professor) and Environmental Ethics (Bill Young, Professor). These particular courses had a great impact on my decision to pursue a major in Economics and a double minor in International Relations Business. In International Economics, I had written a research paper on low income nations and their dependence on primary commodities for exports and its vulnerability to price shocks. I had carried out my research only keeping applied economics in perspective, therefore, I could not really understand as to why these low income countries, although having a wide variety of natural resources readily available for production and consumption, still struggling to alleviate themselves from poverty and poor health. The reality and the real life scenario of such situations was explained to me in the Environmental Economics class by Professor Steve Cohn. Toward the end of the term, I was assigned to write another research paper on greenhouse gas abatement options for third world nations. • 18. Theme Of Manipulation In Medea Once he began manipulating Medea, this made him realize, that he can manipulate anyone he chooses to. After he had captured the Golden Fleece, he abandoned Medea and married the princess of Corinth hoping to stable his wealth and gain more power. He, in turn, manipulated the royal family only to have the consistent power he needed and desired. This had then begun to escalate. Jason is now displaying a pattern of his manipulation. As Jason begins to free himself from his evil ex wife, Jason manipulates the past into a lie and much bigger problem from his side of the story. His dishonesty makes his side of the story more believable and by doing so, his manipulation skills had become more deceivable. Jason is in denial of the many things Medea had done for him and when he told his story, he used omission in order to deceive his listeners. Jason then says, Dark threats cast out against the majesties/ of Corinth, count as veriest gain thy path of exile. (27). He then blames Medea and having Creon ban her from Corinth. The power of manipulation can easily be misused to aid the person who uses it. Overusing it can harm the people who are targets to its belongings. If it is left in the hands of the villain, a large group of people can be restrained by a solitary person. Manipulation in this play is used very dangerously and ones actions can lead to another. Some characters take their actions too far to the point where they begin manipulating themselves during the process. Observant and manipulative describes the kind of woman Medea had depicted. Medea set her mind on getting revenge on a man whom she gave up everything to be with. She fled her own country and killed her brother just to be with a man she fell in love with. Only to find out that the one she had loved betrayed her, used her for greed, and left her to be with a princess. The main reason for her manipulation was only to justify her revenge on her husband, Jason. However, people stand in the way of her revenge plan, and the only way she can do what she needs to do is by manipulating others to be on her side. She does this in a way where she connects with others on a more personal level so they can feel just as bad as her. In Vicarious Dishonesty: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Freezing Point Depression Lab Report Introduction Molar mass is a fundamental quantity of chemistry. There are multiple ways to find the molar mass of a substance experimentally; one way is to use Freezing Point Depression by using the following equation: ΔT= kf*m (Robinson, 2018). The purpose of this lab was to do just that; measure the freezing point depression of a solution when a solute is added to a solvent, and from that, determine the molar mass of an unknown substance, along with learning about the influence that solutes have on liquid properties. A concept of importance to this experiment is freezing point. According to LibreTexts, Freezing point depression is a colligative property observed in solutions that results from the introduction of solute molecules to a solvent...and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Colligative properties, such as boiling point and freezing point, are dependent on the amount of solutes added, not necessarily their identities (LibreTexts, 2018). A fascinating concept related to freezing points is Supercooling. Supercooling is a state where liquids do not form ice even when they reach temperatures below their normal freezing point; they are trapped in a metastable state (Esrf.eu, 2018). The best example of this is clouds at high altitudes: they contain tiny droplets of water that do not have seed crystals, and therefore do not form ice despite the low temperatures (Esrf.eu, 2018). The concept of freezing point depression is applicable in many parts of everyday life. The most common example of freezing point depression is in the salting of roads when it snows (Kimbrough, 2006). As the melting of the first flakes on the warm road occurs, a solution of salty water is created which has a lower freezing point than pure snow (Kimbrough, 2006). Now, the temperature will not get cold enough to freeze the salty solution the way it can freeze water, keeping ice and snow from bonding to the pavement (Kimbrough, 2006). In this lab, the freezing point depression was calculated experimentally by adding an unknown solute to Lauric Acid, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The central theme in the film is that courage and kindness can help overcome the evils and struggles faced in life. The kindness element in both of these stories is similar as explained before. The kindness of Cinderella is displayed specifically in the Little Golden Book version because Cinderella was described as the author as being kind to everyone even Lucifer (4). Lucifer was the dark black cat who was very selfish and would exploit Cinderella because of her graciousness. The careful illustration and depiction of Lucifer was also very significant. The illustrator decided to make the cat a dark black color because it is an archetype that represents evil. The representation expressed through the illustration directly overlaps with the description of the character which means that it is very powerful for Cinderella to have the power to show kindness to the cat. Cinderella also displays hospitality and generosity towards her Stepmother and Stepsisters in both of these versions. Roberts, an employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found out that his employer was earning millions of dollars a year by way of a billing method that he thought was doubtful. • 41. Strategic Management of Human Resources Training models assignment The modern day work place is undergoing a wide array of changes, all resulted from the numerous challenges impacting the internal and external environment of business enterprises. Some examples in this sense include the growing forces of globalization and market liberalization, the increasing cultural diversity in workplaces, the shift from a manufacturing economy to a service economy, or the advancement of technology. In such a setting, the role of the staff members is also suffering modifications as the employees are not just the individuals operating the machines, they have become the most valuable organizational assets (Hickman, 2005). The employees are now in charge of creating organizational value and sustaining the company in attaining its overall objectives. Given this scenario, economic agents come to place an increased emphasis on the relationship with the staffs and focus on the strategic management of their human resource (Noe, 2002). The strategic management of the human resource is revealed at virtually all levels of the relationship between the employer and the employee, since the need for a new hire is identified, up to the point where the employee leaves the firm. The cut up method involves cutting up a page into four sections, rearrange said sections and then read the product.
