Chinoiserie s Influence On American Architecture
Chinoiserie arose as a movement in response to the strict restraints of the Baroque style. More
broadly, this public reaction is characterized as the Rococo style, which Louis introduced in his court
in France around 1750. The Rococo style played with the imagination; whimsy, asymmetry and high
contrast in both scale and color exemplify the art and architecture of the style. Chinoiserie grew out of
the Rococo style as European became fascinated with the Far East, specifically intrigued by Chinese
ceramics. The blue and white luster glaze pottery depicting imaginative accounts of Chinese life
became incredibly popular in the late 18th century. And, while Chinoiserie s influence on architecture
was present at Versailles as early as 1670, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientific exploration continues: modern plant houses have been added and improved upon every few

state of the art technology. The conservatory has 10 computer controlled climactic zones under one
roof, improving upon the first glass house, yet paying homage to the original form and purpose. In
2006, a third version of an alpine house was developed, the Davis Alpine House (fig.), with an
advanced system to control temperature, ventilation, and moisture to simulate the environment of

in 2008, Marks Barfield architects, the masterminds behind the London Eye (fig), built the Treetop

constructed the Treetop Walkway over the Arboretum to be level with the treetops. The rusted steel

Roles of Gladiators in Roman Society
Gladiators were mostly unfree individuals either condemned criminals, prisoners of wars who had lost
their citizenship rights, although, some of them were volunteers who were mostly freedmen or very
low classes of freeborn men who chose to be a slave for monetary rewards or for the fame. Gladiators
were brought for the purpose of gladiatorial combat and would endure branding, chains, flogging or
death by the sword and subjected to a rigorous training, fed on a high energy diet, and given expert
medical attention. Gladiators were famously popular in ancient from for seven centuries, from the 3rd

They wore tunics, bronze helmets, round shields and a long sword. Another class was the

helmet with crest and long greaves over both legs to protect them since he carried only a small shield,

who wore a pectoral covering; the extent of the armour hindered the gladiator s ability to dodge

Battles generally took place on the Roman Forum, until the mid 1st century BC since there was no
permanent amphitheatre. In the imperial period, gladiatorial games were traditionally held twice a year
in December and March to mark the end of the year and beginning of spring. Gladiatorial combat
involved beast hunting where the Romans had passion for hunting. For fighting beast, Romans
preferred big and dangerous animals bears, bulls, elephants and lions from the far reaches of the
Roman Empire. Rarely did the animals survive these hunts though occasionally very few animals
survived these hunts and defeat the hunter. Many of wild animals would be slaughter in a day. Usually
criminals would battle the animals without weapons or armour and were

Examples Of Secular Humanism
Secular Humanism
What is Secular Humanism? Well I will be describing it to you throughout this essay. Secular
Humanism is basically a humanist way of thinking. This idea revolves around people believing in a
naturalist type world where people don t believe in a higher power to solve problems. It is mostly
about human reasoning, social justice, and naturalism where you make calls and judgments based on
what you think is right and wrong and not what someone else said in a book.
Now for the definitions gathered from multiple books. The first definition, Any set of moral principles
or school of moral philosophy whose values do not derive from religion or believe in the supernatural,
from the resource book titled, Ethics Revised Edition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, we have the different labels that are tagged with Secular humanism. There are many
different names for this particular idea simply because there are so many versions all over the world,
but here are a few that I have noticed while reading through book after book. There are names like,
Naturalist [which I have used above a few times], Anti Religion, Non Theism, Atheism, Agnosticism,
Theism, Freethought, and many others from different countries. Depending on how people live their
life as a Secular Humanist they have either more intense or less intense names for those whom are
willing to give themselves that title.
Lastly, we get to the examples of Secular Humanism. There are actually a lot more people who were
Secular Humanists then I thought, but I don t know them all without looking it up on the internet so I
ll just list the ones that are mentioned in Paul Kurtz book What is Secular Humanism? Here are the
people Kurtz listed in his book from history, Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Galileo, Giordano Bruno,
David Hume, Voltaire, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Michel de Montaigne, Gianozzo, Manetti,
Marsilio Ficino, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, Bertand Russell, John Dewey, Simone de Beauvoir,
Jean Paul Sartre, and many others. All of these people were either scientists or philosophers in some
shape or form. So, throughout history we have had a lot

Emily Dickinson Syntax
Poetry is a mirror which makes beautiful that which is distorted. Percy Shelley, an English poet
(brainyquote.org). If anyone can make the distorted subject of death beautiful, it is Emily Dickinson.
One of America s greatest poets of all time, Dickinson makes depressing topics into works of art. Her
poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died is one of Dickinson s many poems that embraces the topic of
death. This poem describes the stillness of the atmosphere at the moment someone dies, but with an
interesting twist; a fly interrupts the solemn scene of people standing around the dying person. Just
when the moment seems calm and peaceful, the fly intrudes in the room as the speaker slips away.
Throughout the poem, Dickinson includes many details ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dickinson uses similes and onomatopoeia to present the two opposing subjects in the poem. For
example, lines two, three, and four of the first stanza contain a simile comparing the stillness of the
room to the stillness between a storm. Within the first stanza, it says The Stillness in the Room Was
like the Stillness in the Air Between the Heaves of Storm (Dickinson). By comparing the room to the
breaks between a storm, it creates in the poem a heavy and thick atmosphere, building tension as if
something was about to happen. In contrast, the use of onomatopoeia in the poem interrupts the
stillness of the room with a buzzing fly. In the first line of the fourth stanza it says, With Blue
uncertain stumbling Buzz (Dickinson), the word Buzz acting as onomatopoeia. Throughout the poem,
Dickinson uses similes and onomatopoeia to contrast two important parts of her

Analyzing The Root Causes Of Risk Mismanagement
Analyzing the Root Causes of Risk Mismanagement
Introduction
According to Kendrick (2009, p. 17), roughly 75 percent of projects fail when project teams refuse to
adopt some form of risk monitoring and control. Ken Black (1996), an associate professor of decision
sciences, published an article listing twelve factors that contribute to the failure of projects. The article
highlighted risks, as one of the factors that can negatively affect project constraints (Black, 1996). A
risk, as defined by Kendrick (2009, p. 1), is an event or series of events that occur due to the level of
uncertainty associated with the project outcome. If a risk occurs, it threatens the success of a project
because it can halt or prolong the project s constraints. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Novice team members mistakenly assume that risks will not occur (Jutte, n.d.). Likewise, novice team
members also associate the implementation of risk management with adding extra work to an already
time poor schedule without any added benefits (Kendrick, 2009, p. 21). Too, novice team members
have no frame of reference for estimating the probability of impact of risk occurrences and may adopt
ineffective risk response strategies thereby increasing the impacts of risk occurrences.
Unlike novice team members, veteran team members understand the benefits of risk management and
draw upon their experience with past projects to mitigate risks (Awati, 2011). However, veteran team
members assert their individual perception when proposing approaches to risk management based on
their personal experiences (Awati, 2011). According to Awati (2009), subjective judgments such as of
illusion of control give veteran team members a false sense of security with the respect to the degree
of control they have over minimizing or avoiding a risk. Likewise, groupthink is an example of
veteran team members intimidating less experienced colleagues into agreeing with an approach
because they present evidence that contradicts their resolution (Awati, 2009). Thus, all cognitive
biases contain some degree of error in perception and can lead to project failure.

Analysis Of After Apple Picking By Robert Frost
After Apple Picking is an early work by Robert Frost. The poem portrays the hypnagogia of sleep by
describing the fleeting moments before the speaker falls into deep slumber. The poem is written in the
first person point of view and is most likely a depiction of Frost himself. Frost wrote this poem when
he was around forty to fifty years old. In the twentieth century, he would have been considered to be
close to the end of his life and this could have been his initial inspiration for the poem. Allusions to
winter and frost also lead to the idea that Robert Frost may have been referring to himself throughout
the poem. Whether or not the speaker is Frost is of little importance, what does matter is that the
speaker is someone who has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mid level diction, that dominates most of the poem, is highlighted in these first couple of lines.
This level of diction creates a happy tone that celebrates heaven and the afterlife while contemplating
the reality of life here on earth. Phrases such as I was well and I could tell create a sense of rhyme and
repetition that assures us that the speaker is still in control and doing fine, this initial portrayal of the
speaker conflicts with the rest of the poem which takes on a more melancholy mood after line
eighteen. Visual and olfactory imagery are also portrayed through specific word choice. Words such as
essence and scent introduce the element of smell in the poem, while words such as glass, skimmed,
and hoary convey the visual element. The vivid pastoral sensory imagery in the poem emphasizes the
image of an apple, this motif alludes to the fall in Genesis and becomes an allegory for the Garden of
Eden. Likewise, the speaker s thoughts of falling ice allude to Freud s iceberg personality theory.
These allusions suggest both worldly corruption and a loss of innocence. This is emphasized through
the repetition of the word fall, which in this case has the connotation of sin associated with it. The
imagery used here also draws biblical allusions to Jacob s ladder. The allusions draw attention to the
corruption and downfall of mankind. Through the use of figurative language, the extended metaphor
of apple

How Does Harry Potter Affected Pop Culture
For as long a literature has been around, books have been written that define the culture of a
generation, though some leave lasting changes in pop culture. When the first Harry Potter was
accepted to be published many years ago nobody was prepared for the enormous success the series
would have. The series captured a massive following from the beginning, turning a simple seven book
series into a franchise. Though I may not be an expert on literature, I have read the entire Harry Potter
series multiple times and am a big fan of the book. I have also researched the effect of the books on
pop culture and have come to the conclusion that Harry Potter has embedded itself into pop culture
and changed it in the process.

the books (How Has the Harry Potter). Due to the fantasy elements and likable characters, the Harry
Potter books have captured the attention of young readers and got them to continue reading beyond
just those books. A study done by Scholastic and Yankelovich in 2006 found that the series has not
only had a positive impact on children s views towards reading but it has also improved the quality of
their school work (Garlick). Reading ability and the ability to satisfactorily complete schoolwork are
dependent upon each other and the impact of the Harry Potter series on the number of kids who have

The Controversy Behind Shakespeare s Work
Shakespeare or Bacon For many centuries, there has been a controversy over whether or not
Shakespeare wrote his plays himself or whether another author wrote the works and gave him the
credit. Shakespeare (1564 1616) is recorded to have written 37 plays and 154 sonnets, but the
authorship of Shakespeare s work has been disputed. There is valid reason to believe that Francis
Bacon is the genuine author behind Shakespeare s name. Bacon s similar high status, numerous
travels, and the Baconian theory are valuable reasons that give evidence to Bacon possibly being the
author. Francis Bacon lived a short extraordinary life from places he was able to travel to, to the things
he wrote, and to people he experienced along the way. Bacon was a highly intelligent child, not only
was he homeschool throughout his early years, he then enrolled in the Cambridge s Trinity College at
age 12. This schools constricted curriculum started to bore Bacon to the point that he decided to

An Example Of Small Business In The Walt Disney Company
People wonder all the time how companies started out and how they got so successful? An example of
a person who has helped successful people get off their feet. James Dill, the founder of CT, allegedly
is the person that laid down the foundation for the incorporation law ( CT Sponsors 2015 Small
Business Week. ). They are associated with the SBA, also known as the Small Business Association.
CT Corporation offered a convention like event about recognizing small business and their
contributions to America. These conventions date back to 1963 ( CT Sponsors 2015 Small Business
Week. ). Certain traits help small businesses become successful, such as, persistence, confidence,
fearlessness, and passion.
This skill is something everybody needs if success is wanted; that skill would be persistence.
Persistence is a good skill to have because it means having a will to continue an action even when
obstacles get in the way. Henry Ford tried making a 4 wheel vehicle mainly running on ethanol. After
failing his attempted on the car, Henry invented the model T as part of his Ford Motor Company
(Kaufman). Even when Henry failed, he kept trying new idea until he got what he wanted. Another
person who had persistence was Walt Disney. He was told at a young age that he had no good ideas
and lacked imagination (Kaufman). Those thing did not get in his head and he ended up making
movies part of the Walt Disney Company. According to Biz Stone, co founder of Twitter, Timing,

Ancient Egypt And Ancient Egyptian Civilization
known for its great pieces of art and architecture, advanced engineering skills, and even its use of
medicine. One of the most interesting parts of this culture was its belief in the afterlife. This belief was
so widely accepted and important to the people of Egypt that it influenced many aspects of their
everyday lives. The version of the afterlife that the Egyptians believed in was very different from
other religions and cultures. The immortality ideology is something that many cultures grappled with.
The ancient Egyptian belief was the epitome of immortality ideology. Everything that the Egyptians
did was influenced by the idea of an afterlife. This unique belief in the afterlife can be seen in Egypt s
many pieces of art and architecture including the Great Pyramids at Giza, the temple of Karnak, and
the Book of the Dead. These examples give a glimpse into the culture and religion of Egypt.
The timeline of ancient Egyptian civilization spanned from about 3000 BCE, when Egypt was united
under a single ruler, until about 30 BCE, when Queen Cleopatra died and Egypt was annexed by
Rome. This is the longest lasting civilization in history. Their way of life, advanced architecture, and
astute use of natural resources gave them the ability to last as long as they did. The Egyptians believed
that everything they did and produced was influenced by the Gods and thus affected their afterlife.
They believed that when a human died, they would continue to live on in the afterlife. This

Michael Pollan Food Chain Analysis
All across america, cows are confined to crowded, almost prison like cells, with little to no regard to
their health. They are forced to eat food that includes such ingredients like manure, cement, or even
cow brains. This is one side of farming, but there is another. This farming has cows and other animals
living how they would in nature, across rolling hills and bright green grasses. This is the essence of
Local Sustainable farming. As defined in Michael Pollan s award winning commentary about the food
we eat, The Omnivore s Dilemma, the Local Sustainable Food Chain, one of four possible food
chains, is characterized by not using pesticides, treating animals humanely, and sustainably creating
healthier organic food. Out of Michael Pollan s food chains, the Local Sustainable Food Chain is the
best for America as it is much less harmful to the environment and lets animals live in their natural
states.
The Local Sustainable Food Chain creates a healthier environment because the farmers work with the
land and animals in more natural ways and help the environment thrive. As shown by Polyface Farms,
a prime example of Local Sustainable farming, regular farming practices had created soil that was
either no longer fertile or had washed away. (Pollan 161) As Joel salatin, the owner of Polyface,

Moving To Springfield Analysis
Assuming that hundreds of former city dwellers do indeed move to Springfield every year, then it is
plausible that the author is correct in that these city dwellers do appreciate Springfield because it has a
rural setting an small town atmosphere . However, the author presents no proof concerning that this is
truly the rationale behind city dwellers move to Springfield. As such, their suggestion that aggressive
planning regulations should be implemented is hogwash because it is based upon a potentially untrue
premise. Additionally, the majority of residents in Springfield may not even want more newcomers to
move in, which further suggests that the author lacks sufficient data to make any sort of suggestion.
The main flaw in the author s argument is the failure to include any sort of evidence or proof
indicating the new Springfield residents reasons for moving to Springfield. The rationale indicated by
the author is plausible, but plenty of other reasons abound concerning why city dwellers would move
to the more rural Springfield. For instance, the cost of living could be cheaper in Springfield and the
new residents may actually think Springfield is a worse location to live in than the city. In addition,
Springfield may have more pristine schools, libraries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, because the author has no idea why new residents actually move to Springfield, these
residents could actually be moving to Springfield in spite of its rural setting and small town
atmosphere , perhaps due to cheaper rents or better public amenities as discussed earlier. If this is the
case, then removing the establishments enumerated by the author could actually have the opposite
effect the author intended: less new residents would move to

Power and Politics Paper
Power and Politics Paper
Power and Politics are necessary influences in most organizations today. Power is not a necessary evil
and is most often contained within the position of authority. Politics is a little harder to describe.
People often see it when an individual is attempting to influence a decision or position within an
organization without a formal role or authority. In this paper I will analyze an organizational
management and leadership practices that impact organizations. I will also provide a couple real world
examples of the relationships between power and politics and how this relates to management and
leadership practices.

Romans were heavily influenced by Etruscan and Greek culture. Economics and Politics The economy
and politics of Greece were extremely complex. Most importantly Greek commercial expansion
through new trade markets around the Mediterranean with the non Greek world made it possible for
more men to purchase land and power. At the same time the concept of a polis (city) and demos
(common people) and the idea of discussion of public choices and possible outcomes with collective
concern were born in the city state. Two of the most well known to us today are Athens and Sparta, but
there were many more. The mountainous terrain as well as a deeply entrenched sense of independence
probably allowed the system to remain more of a loose confederation than a central republic, like that
of Rome. The early Roman republic probably began around the year 509 BCE and lasted for more
than 450 years before the gradual decay of its republican institutions. The Senate, which concentrated
political leadership, had come in place by 300 BCE or so to represent the ruling class of patricians and
wealthier members of the plebs. The typical Roman citizen lived in the country and the bulk of the
Roman economy was based on agriculture and land ownership. But as the empire grew

Markets and Society Essay
Markets and Society
In his famous book, The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith descried the free market system as a self
regulating mechanism, which maximizes society s wealth and well being. Indeed, since the time of
Adam Smith, the free market has been an incredibly successful system for improving society. This can
be attributed to an increase in overall wealth, innovation, and efficient resource allocation.
Unfortunately, the market system also suffered numerous drawbacks, the most important being the
inequality and the inequality of opportunity which the system created. These inequalities are best
observed in the credit, education, and labor markets. The question of whether the use of free markets
is truly preferable method for improving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People all over the world have experienced higher living standards. Most people in the US today live
better than the monarchs of the 19th century. The abundance of consumer goods, availability of
medical services, and better public utilities area a testament to how markets have improved society.
Equally important, society has experienced a great wave of technological innovation ever since Smith
s free market ideas became widely recognized. From the Industrial Revolution, to the recent Internet
and Information Revolution, the markets have consistently encouraged sellers to innovate because
innovation is a way of getting an edge in the market and to reap its rewards. Societies with a free
market have been much more innovative than those with traditional or command type economies. The
fact that the inventors like Henry Ford and Bill Gates earned substantial profits from their ideas
encouraged other to follow their example. Most of the new technologies improve society by making
their lives more convenient.
Another aspect of the benefits of the markets on society is its resource allocating ability. Unlike a
common economy, in a market system, the prices of goods reflect the demand for them. As a result,
the prices of goods decrease when there is a surplus and increase when there is a deficit. This system
has allowed market economies to deal with crises such as aggregate supply shocks or economic
downturns. For example, during the 1970 s OPEC

Twelve Traditions Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is an international mutual aid fellowship founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and
Dr. Bob Smith in Akron, Ohio. AA states that its primary purpose is to help alcoholics to stay sober
and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety . With other early members Bill Wilson and Bob Smith
developed AA s Twelve Step program of spiritual and character development. AA s initial Twelve
Traditions were introduced in 1946 to help the fellowship be stable and unified while disengaged from
outside issues and influences. The Traditions recommend that members and groups remain anonymous
in public media, altruistically helping other alcoholics and avoiding affiliations with any other
organization. Subsequent fellowships such as Narcotics Anonymous have adopted and adapted the
Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions to their respective primary purposes. The 2006 Cochrane
Review of eight studies measuring the effectiveness of AA found no significant difference between the
results of AA and twelve step participation compared to other treatments, stating that experimental
studies have on the whole failed to demonstrate their effectiveness in reducing alcohol dependence or
drinking problems when compared to other interventions. and the first non Protestant member, a

Neoclassical architectural style building is located on the eastern edge of Central Park in New York
City, New York. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986. It was founded in 1870 with
a mission to collect, preserve, and display works of art. In 1866 a group of Americans gathered at a
restaurant to celebrate the Fourth of July. After dinner, John Jay, a prominent lawyer gave a speech
proposing that he and his compatriots decided to create a national institution and gallery of art. In the
next four years, they convinced American civic leaders, art collectors, and philanthropists to support
the project, and finally in 1870 the Metropolitan Museum of Art was incorporated. During the 1870s
the museum was housed in two different locations in New York City, first in a building at 681 Fifth
Avenue and later at 128 West 14th Street. In 1880 the museum moved to its present location in Central

Why Phenotypic Plasticity Is Present
Introduction
The plants used in this experiment were the Arabidopsis thaliana. The Arabidopsis species is
characterized as a weed , a plant with no benefit when it comes to food, shelter, or medicine (Meinke
Koornneef, 2010). Yet, it is considered the model research plant by many scientists across the world
because they are small and can grow very fast. Meinke and Koornneef (2010) explain that scientists
want to be able to collect as much data as quickly as possible, so a small, fast growing plant is going
to help make discoveries much more rapidly than a longer growing crop plant. The Arabidopsis plant
is also very convenient to study its genes because of its small genome. A small genome makes it
efficient to see how a plant s genes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lutz et al. (2015) state that plants integrate seasonal cues such as temperature and day length to
optimally adjust their flowering time to the environment. The knowledge about the adaptation of
plants to changing temperatures at present is limited, but becoming increasingly important due to the
temperature changes associated with global warming (Lutz et al. 2015). This leads to a hypothesis that
as temperature increases, rosette size and height of plant will decrease.
Methods
24 plants of the species Arabidopsis thaliana were grown at two temperatures (20°C and 24°C) in
Percival growth chambers, half at 20°C and half 24°C. The plants were randomized into a design that
consisted of 12 flats in two growth chambers. The seedlings were then transferred to three inch pots
on standard ProMix potting soil and bottom watered in their trays, two times per week to assure that
the potting mix remained moist. Each group will have two different accessions; Natural Population A
and Natural Population B. Natural Population A represents species extracted from Market Baden,
Germany. Natural Population B represents species extracted from Merzhausen, Germany. Each
accession will have six plants growing under 20°C and 24°C. All 24 plants were then looked at to
measure the rosette size, the distance from the center stalk to the edge of the leaves. All measurements
were reported in centimeters using a ruler. The plants were measured in two spans that were

Do Disney s Animated Movies Offer A Reflection Into The...
Final Research Question:
Do Disney s animated movies offer a reflection into the development and strengthening of Human
Rights throughout the 20th Century?
Provisional answer to question:
Human Rights can be defined simply as being fundamental rights which all human beings are
inherently entitled to regardless of their nation, location, language, religion, ethnic origin or any other
status. Although today basic Human Rights are mostly internationally recognized, this was not always
the case. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was only formally adopted in 1948 by the
United Nations General Assembly after the destruction of World War 2. Disney was founded in 1923
and since then has been active in releasing animated movies throughout the years. Always being
conscious of its younger audience, Disney accepted less graphic versions of fairytales told in hundreds
of different formats from as early as Ancient Greece and China. An example of this is the story of
Cinderella which was first noted by Greek Historian Strabo. Beautiful Sleeping Beauty in the first
known story told in the 12th Century as a Norse Saga was not awoken by a sweet kiss from a Prince
but alas was awoken by having her arm cut off. When this story was later adapted in 1528 through a
French Romance story called Peace forest and again retold in 1636 where poor Sleeping Beauty was
awoken by a married Prince who then raped her. In my opinion the fact that Disney acknowledged and
accepted the less vicious

Aggregate Demand And Supply Essay examples
AGGREGATE DEMAND AND SUPPLY
AGGREGATE DEMAND:
Aggregate demand is the amount which will be spent at different values of the price level. It is
composed of consumption (C), investment (I), government spending (6) and net exports (X M).
THE AGGREGATE DEMAND CURVE:
The aggregate demand curve shows the quantity of goods and services which households, firms,
overseas buyers and government are prepared to buy at different values of the general price level. It is
drawn on the assumption that other things (e.g. the money supply, rates of taxation, the marginal
propensity to consume) remain unchanged. Figure 28. I shows an aggregate demand curve.
WHY THE ADCURVE SLOPES DOWN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:
There are three main reasons why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 28.2 shows an extension in aggregate demand. If the general price level falls people s
purchasing power will increase, the transactions demand for money will fall causing a reduction in
interest rates and domestic goods and services will become more price competitive.
____________________________________________
THE SHAPE OF THE AGGREGATE DEMAND CURVE:
One group of economists, Keynesians, believe the aggregate demand curve is steep. This is because
they think that a rise in the general price level will have only a small impact on the rate of interest and
this in turn will have only a small impact on consumption and investment. They argue that the demand
for money is dominated by the speculative rnotive. This is interest elastic so that an increase in
demand for money will cause only a small rise in the rate of interest. In their view the main influence
on both consumption and investment is income and not the rate of interest. The implication of the
aggregate demand curve being steep is that a change in the general price level will not significantly
alter aggregate demand.
In contrast new classical economists believe the aggregate demand curve is shallow, they think the
main component of the demand for money is the transactions demand. This is interest inelastic so if a
rise in the general price level leads to an increase in demand for money there may be a large rise in the
rate of interest.

place that He would choose for His people . The place that he spoke of was Jerusalem also known as
Zion. Two Temples were built and both of them were destroyed, which caused major devastation to
the Jews. They continue to pray for those Temples and have a holiday in honor of the destroyed

Medicine and Doctors in Final Cut by Atul Gawande
The main theme of Final Cut by Atul Gawande is that medicine is an inexact science and doctors are
not always sure of themselves, even if they appear confident. Gawande s main argument is simply
stated: there has been a decline in the amount of autopsies performed in the medical field as a result of
medical arrogance; over confident doctors believe they know the cause of death and do not want to
perform autopsies. Gawande illustrates his argument by outlining the history of autopsy use in
medicine, incorporating medical cases that he has experienced as a surgeon, and including statistics on
autopsy usage. Final Cut is an outstanding profile on the decline of autopsy use in medicine. What
makes Final Cut an enjoyable and informative article for all readers is its use of strategies associated
with fiction such as the establishment of characters, balance between medical information and
personal experience, and its use of active voice. It is evident throughout Final Cut that Gawande is an
author who draws on and adapts elements of fiction such as the establishment of characters and the
creation of tension and suspense within his journalism. By incorporating medical cases he has
experienced as a surgeon, Gawande is able to establish many characters that the reader develops an
emotional connection with. This emotional connection develops because readers are provided with

The Two Main Hormone Drugs
What are the two main hormone drugs?
The two mainstream hormone drugs are progesterone and norgestrel. Progesterone and norgestrel are
drugs used to control the female hormones to aid in preventing pregnancy. Progesterone is a steroid
hormone released by the corpus luteum, which is a hormone secreting structure that develops in an
ovary after an ovum has been discharged but degenerates after a few days unless pregnancy has
begun, that stimulates the uterus to prepare for pregnancy. Hormones are chemical messengers that are
secreted directly into the blood, which carries them to organs and tissues of the body to exert their
functions. Progesterone works by traveling in the blood to tissues where there are progesterone
receptors. Progesterone molecules attach to the receptors and commence their actions in the ... Show

There are many types of birth control including condoms, IUDs, birth control pills, vasectomy, etc.
Condoms are one of the most popular forms of birth control. They come in many shapes and sizes,
with and without lube. They slip over the penis to prevent pregnancy and lower the risk of STIs by
keeping sperm inside of the condom and not in your vagina. An IUD (intrauterine device) is a small t
shaped device that is inserted in your uterus by your doctor. It is plastic and wrapped in copper or
contains hormones. There is a plastic string tied to the of the IUD that hangs down from the cervix
into the vagina. You can check that the IUD is in place by feeling for this string. The string is also
used by your doctor to remove the IUD. There are two types of IUDs, hormonal and copper IUD. The
hormonal IUD prevents fertilization by damaging or killing the sperm and making the mucus in the
cervix big and gooey. It keeps the lining of the uterus from growing very thick. That makes the lining
a very poor place for a fertilized egg to implant and grown. The hormones in this IUD stops the

Abstract:
The actin myosin interaction is most commonly known for its role in sliding filament theory, where
myosin II bundles interact with actin filaments to shorten muscle sarcomeres and ultimately contract

encompassing many different roles. The interaction of myosin and actin in non muscle cells is thus a
huge topic, but in understanding the structure, function and regulation of this part of the cytoskeleton,
it is possible to find new drug targets and design new treatments to a huge number of diseases. One
such target is the Rho associated protein kinases (ROCKs), which are responsible for the regulation of
the actin myosin cytoskeleton. This report aims to briefly cover the basic role of the actin myosin
cytoskeleton in non muscle cells, how it is regulated by the ROCK family of serine/threonine kinases,
and how ROCK inhibitors have could have huge therapeutic potential.
Introduction:
The cell cytoskeleton in an immensely complex system of protein filaments and motors, which is
responsible for maintaining the rigidity and architecture of the eukaryotic cell, while transporting
vesicles and organelles throughout the cell and assisting in cell movement. There are 3 types of
protein filaments in the cytoskeleton actin filaments, intermediate filaments, and microtubules and 3
associated motor proteins myosin, dynein, and kinesin. Of particular interest, and the focus of

  • 4. Chinoiserie s Influence On American Architecture Chinoiserie arose as a movement in response to the strict restraints of the Baroque style. More broadly, this public reaction is characterized as the Rococo style, which Louis introduced in his court in France around 1750. The Rococo style played with the imagination; whimsy, asymmetry and high contrast in both scale and color exemplify the art and architecture of the style. Chinoiserie grew out of the Rococo style as European became fascinated with the Far East, specifically intrigued by Chinese ceramics. The blue and white luster glaze pottery depicting imaginative accounts of Chinese life became incredibly popular in the late 18th century. And, while Chinoiserie s influence on architecture was present at Versailles as early as 1670, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientific exploration continues: modern plant houses have been added and improved upon every few years and the herbarium, which contains over 300,000 plany specimens, is one of the largest in the world. The conservatory has 10 computer controlled climactic zones under one roof, improving upon the first glass house, yet paying homage to the original form and purpose. In 2006, a third version of an alpine house was developed, the Davis Alpine House (fig.), with an advanced system to control temperature, ventilation, and moisture to simulate the environment of being 2000 feet in the air. Engagement and education with the general public, particularly children, is another priority of Kew Gardens today. In 2004, Climbers and Creepers , an interactive learning environment encourages children to discover botany, ecology, animals, and the environment. Further, in 2008, Marks Barfield architects, the masterminds behind the London Eye (fig), built the Treetop Walkway (fig). The architectural firm, known for creating innovative forms to maximize visibility, constructed the Treetop Walkway over the Arboretum to be level with the treetops. • 7. Emily Dickinson Syntax Poetry is a mirror which makes beautiful that which is distorted. Percy Shelley, an English poet (brainyquote.org). If anyone can make the distorted subject of death beautiful, it is Emily Dickinson. One of America s greatest poets of all time, Dickinson makes depressing topics into works of art. Her poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died is one of Dickinson s many poems that embraces the topic of death. This poem describes the stillness of the atmosphere at the moment someone dies, but with an interesting twist; a fly interrupts the solemn scene of people standing around the dying person. Just when the moment seems calm and peaceful, the fly intrudes in the room as the speaker slips away. Throughout the poem, Dickinson includes many details ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dickinson uses similes and onomatopoeia to present the two opposing subjects in the poem. For example, lines two, three, and four of the first stanza contain a simile comparing the stillness of the room to the stillness between a storm. Within the first stanza, it says The Stillness in the Room Was like the Stillness in the Air Between the Heaves of Storm (Dickinson). By comparing the room to the breaks between a storm, it creates in the poem a heavy and thick atmosphere, building tension as if something was about to happen. In contrast, the use of onomatopoeia in the poem interrupts the stillness of the room with a buzzing fly. In the first line of the fourth stanza it says, With Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz (Dickinson), the word Buzz acting as onomatopoeia. • 9. Analyzing The Root Causes Of Risk Mismanagement Analyzing the Root Causes of Risk Mismanagement Introduction According to Kendrick (2009, p. 17), roughly 75 percent of projects fail when project teams refuse to adopt some form of risk monitoring and control. Ken Black (1996), an associate professor of decision sciences, published an article listing twelve factors that contribute to the failure of projects. The article highlighted risks, as one of the factors that can negatively affect project constraints (Black, 1996). A risk, as defined by Kendrick (2009, p. 1), is an event or series of events that occur due to the level of uncertainty associated with the project outcome. If a risk occurs, it threatens the success of a project because it can halt or prolong the project s constraints. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Novice team members mistakenly assume that risks will not occur (Jutte, n.d.). Likewise, novice team members also associate the implementation of risk management with adding extra work to an already time poor schedule without any added benefits (Kendrick, 2009, p. 21). Too, novice team members have no frame of reference for estimating the probability of impact of risk occurrences and may adopt ineffective risk response strategies thereby increasing the impacts of risk occurrences. Unlike novice team members, veteran team members understand the benefits of risk management and draw upon their experience with past projects to mitigate risks (Awati, 2011). However, veteran team members assert their individual perception when proposing approaches to risk management based on their personal experiences (Awati, 2011). According to Awati (2009), subjective judgments such as of illusion of control give veteran team members a false sense of security with the respect to the degree of control they have over minimizing or avoiding a risk. Likewise, groupthink is an example of veteran team members intimidating less experienced colleagues into agreeing with an approach because they present evidence that contradicts their resolution (Awati, 2009). Thus, all cognitive biases contain some degree of error in perception and can lead to project failure. Project Changes During the course of a project, change is an inevitable certainty and ... • 10. Analysis Of After Apple Picking By Robert Frost After Apple Picking is an early work by Robert Frost. The poem portrays the hypnagogia of sleep by describing the fleeting moments before the speaker falls into deep slumber. The poem is written in the first person point of view and is most likely a depiction of Frost himself. Frost wrote this poem when he was around forty to fifty years old. In the twentieth century, he would have been considered to be close to the end of his life and this could have been his initial inspiration for the poem. Allusions to winter and frost also lead to the idea that Robert Frost may have been referring to himself throughout the poem. Whether or not the speaker is Frost is of little importance, what does matter is that the speaker is someone who has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mid level diction, that dominates most of the poem, is highlighted in these first couple of lines. This level of diction creates a happy tone that celebrates heaven and the afterlife while contemplating the reality of life here on earth. Phrases such as I was well and I could tell create a sense of rhyme and repetition that assures us that the speaker is still in control and doing fine, this initial portrayal of the speaker conflicts with the rest of the poem which takes on a more melancholy mood after line eighteen. Visual and olfactory imagery are also portrayed through specific word choice. Words such as essence and scent introduce the element of smell in the poem, while words such as glass, skimmed, and hoary convey the visual element. The vivid pastoral sensory imagery in the poem emphasizes the image of an apple, this motif alludes to the fall in Genesis and becomes an allegory for the Garden of Eden. Likewise, the speaker s thoughts of falling ice allude to Freud s iceberg personality theory. These allusions suggest both worldly corruption and a loss of innocence. This is emphasized through the repetition of the word fall, which in this case has the connotation of sin associated with it. The imagery used here also draws biblical allusions to Jacob s ladder. The allusions draw attention to the corruption and downfall of mankind. Through the use of figurative language, the extended metaphor of apple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Harry Potter Affected Pop Culture For as long a literature has been around, books have been written that define the culture of a generation, though some leave lasting changes in pop culture. When the first Harry Potter was accepted to be published many years ago nobody was prepared for the enormous success the series would have. The Controversy Behind Shakespeare s Work Shakespeare or Bacon For many centuries, there has been a controversy over whether or not Shakespeare wrote his plays himself or whether another author wrote the works and gave him the credit. Shakespeare (1564 1616) is recorded to have written 37 plays and 154 sonnets, but the authorship of Shakespeare s work has been disputed. There is valid reason to believe that Francis Bacon is the genuine author behind Shakespeare s name. Bacon s similar high status, numerous travels, and the Baconian theory are valuable reasons that give evidence to Bacon possibly being the author. Francis Bacon lived a short extraordinary life from places he was able to travel to, to the things he wrote, and to people he experienced along the way. Bacon was a highly intelligent child, not only was he homeschool throughout his early years, he then enrolled in the Cambridge s Trinity College at age 12. They are forced to eat food that includes such ingredients like manure, cement, or even cow brains. This is one side of farming, but there is another. This farming has cows and other animals living how they would in nature, across rolling hills and bright green grasses. This is the essence of Local Sustainable farming. As defined in Michael Pollan s award winning commentary about the food we eat, The Omnivore s Dilemma, the Local Sustainable Food Chain, one of four possible food chains, is characterized by not using pesticides, treating animals humanely, and sustainably creating healthier organic food. Out of Michael Pollan s food chains, the Local Sustainable Food Chain is the best for America as it is much less harmful to the environment and lets animals live in their natural states. The Local Sustainable Food Chain creates a healthier environment because the farmers work with the land and animals in more natural ways and help the environment thrive. Moving To Springfield Analysis Assuming that hundreds of former city dwellers do indeed move to Springfield every year, then it is plausible that the author is correct in that these city dwellers do appreciate Springfield because it has a rural setting an small town atmosphere . However, the author presents no proof concerning that this is truly the rationale behind city dwellers move to Springfield. As such, their suggestion that aggressive planning regulations should be implemented is hogwash because it is based upon a potentially untrue premise. The main flaw in the author s argument is the failure to include any sort of evidence or proof indicating the new Springfield residents reasons for moving to Springfield. The rationale indicated by the author is plausible, but plenty of other reasons abound concerning why city dwellers would move to the more rural Springfield. Final Research Question: Do Disney s animated movies offer a reflection into the development and strengthening of Human Rights throughout the 20th Century? Provisional answer to question: Human Rights can be defined simply as being fundamental rights which all human beings are inherently entitled to regardless of their nation, location, language, religion, ethnic origin or any other status. Although today basic Human Rights are mostly internationally recognized, this was not always the case. This is because they think that a rise in the general price level will have only a small impact on the rate of interest and this in turn will have only a small impact on consumption and investment. They argue that the demand for money is dominated by the speculative rnotive. This is interest elastic so that an increase in demand for money will cause only a small rise in the rate of interest. In their view the main influence on both consumption and investment is income and not the rate of interest. The implication of the aggregate demand curve being steep is that a change in the general price level will not significantly alter aggregate demand. In contrast new classical economists believe the aggregate demand curve is shallow, they think the main component of the demand for money is the transactions demand. This is interest inelastic so if a rise in the general price level leads to an increase in demand for money there may be a large rise in the rate of interest. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Medicine and Doctors in Final Cut by Atul Gawande The main theme of Final Cut by Atul Gawande is that medicine is an inexact science and doctors are not always sure of themselves, even if they appear confident. Gawande s main argument is simply stated: there has been a decline in the amount of autopsies performed in the medical field as a result of medical arrogance; over confident doctors believe they know the cause of death and do not want to perform autopsies. Gawande illustrates his argument by outlining the history of autopsy use in medicine, incorporating medical cases that he has experienced as a surgeon, and including statistics on autopsy usage. Final Cut is an outstanding profile on the decline of autopsy use in medicine. What makes Final Cut an enjoyable and informative article for all readers is its use of strategies associated with fiction such as the establishment of characters, balance between medical information and personal experience, and its use of active voice. It is evident throughout Final Cut that Gawande is an author who draws on and adapts elements of fiction such as the establishment of characters and the creation of tension and suspense within his journalism. By incorporating medical cases he has experienced as a surgeon, Gawande is able to establish many characters that the reader develops an emotional connection with. This emotional connection develops because readers are provided with just enough information about the characters to individualize them, allowing readers to care about ... • 37. The Two Main Hormone Drugs What are the two main hormone drugs? The two mainstream hormone drugs are progesterone and norgestrel. Progesterone and norgestrel are drugs used to control the female hormones to aid in preventing pregnancy. Progesterone is a steroid hormone released by the corpus luteum, which is a hormone secreting structure that develops in an ovary after an ovum has been discharged but degenerates after a few days unless pregnancy has begun, that stimulates the uterus to prepare for pregnancy. Hormones are chemical messengers that are secreted directly into the blood, which carries them to organs and tissues of the body to exert their functions. Progesterone works by traveling in the blood to tissues where there are progesterone receptors. Progesterone molecules attach to the receptors and commence their actions in the ... There are many types of birth control including condoms, IUDs, birth control pills, vasectomy, etc. Condoms are one of the most popular forms of birth control. They come in many shapes and sizes, with and without lube. They slip over the penis to prevent pregnancy and lower the risk of STIs by keeping sperm inside of the condom and not in your vagina. An IUD (intrauterine device) is a small t shaped device that is inserted in your uterus by your doctor. It is plastic and wrapped in copper or contains hormones. There is a plastic string tied to the of the IUD that hangs down from the cervix into the vagina. You can check that the IUD is in place by feeling for this string. The string is also used by your doctor to remove the IUD. There are two types of IUDs, hormonal and copper IUD. The hormonal IUD prevents fertilization by damaging or killing the sperm and making the mucus in the cervix big and gooey. It keeps the lining of the uterus from growing very thick. That makes the lining a very poor place for a fertilized egg to implant and grown. The hormones in this IUD stops the cramping and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Myosin And Myosin Function And Its Effect On A Huge Number... Abstract: The actin myosin interaction is most commonly known for its role in sliding filament theory, where myosin II bundles interact with actin filaments to shorten muscle sarcomeres and ultimately contract the muscle. However the myosin superfamily is huge, numbering 17 different proteins to date, and encompassing many different roles. The interaction of myosin and actin in non muscle cells is thus a huge topic, but in understanding the structure, function and regulation of this part of the cytoskeleton, it is possible to find new drug targets and design new treatments to a huge number of diseases. One such target is the Rho associated protein kinases (ROCKs), which are responsible for the regulation of the actin myosin cytoskeleton. This report aims to briefly cover the basic role of the actin myosin cytoskeleton in non muscle cells, how it is regulated by the ROCK family of serine/threonine kinases, and how ROCK inhibitors have could have huge therapeutic potential. Introduction: The cell cytoskeleton in an immensely complex system of protein filaments and motors, which is responsible for maintaining the rigidity and architecture of the eukaryotic cell, while transporting vesicles and organelles throughout the cell and assisting in cell movement. There are 3 types of protein filaments in the cytoskeleton actin filaments, intermediate filaments, and microtubules and 3 associated motor proteins myosin, dynein, and kinesin. Of particular interest, and the focus of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
