SMS acquired Computer Synergy in 1985 but struggled to integrate its competing ACTion and Synergy systems, initially merging them into the convoluted "Spirit Choice" product. After poor sales, SMS returned to the integrated Computer Synergy system, renaming it Allegra. In the late 1990s, facing high costs to update its many aging products for Y2K, SMS sunset Allegra, but former user Rick Opry started IntraNexus to provide ongoing support for Allegra clients. In 2011, Quality Systems acquired IntraNexus for $4.9 million, absorbing its Sapphire software and small hospital clients.
