This document compares and contrasts the characters of Igwezu and Awuchike from a Yoruba myth. Igwezu represents tradition and lives in the village, trying to bring life back to it after failing. He appears in the story. Awuchike represents modernization, lives in the city where he is successful, but does not care about his village and never returns or appears in the story, only being discussed. Igwezu is idealized as wanting to help his family and village, while Awuchike created his own world and is considered dead to his ancestral home.
