A linear relationship exists between the input voltage Xt, output voltage Xi and the distance BC.
ANGULAR POTENTIOMETER Rotary or angular potentiometers measure angular displacement .

Abstract: The Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) process requires simultaneous application of high electrical current and appropriate pressure over short periods in order to keep the molten material inside the weld zone. Values of these parameters vary in function of the characteristics of the materials to be welded. The application of the electrical current is by means of two copper electrodes brought in contact with the welded parts while the required pressure is applied by means of pneumatic or hydraulic systems. This paper presents the simulation, design, and control of resistance welding system which is used for performing a welding process. The paper is discussed about two aspects. First, simulation of the concept of ICC used for the specific application of RSW. Secondly, the critical factor and method employed for the implementation of the controller. This paper also discuss about the implementation methodology of the RSW. The simulation for the RSW is carried out in PROTEUS software.

Fault analysis in power system using power systems computer aided designIJAAS Team
This work presents a fault analysis simulation model of an IEEE 30 bus system in a distribution network. This work annalysed the effect of fault current and fault voltage in a distribution system. A circuit breaker was introduced into the system to neutralize the effect of the fault. The system was run on a PSCAD software and results were obtained. The system was monitored based on the start time and the end time of the fault and how well the circuit breaker reacts with those times. Fault occurred from 0.100 to 0.300 seconds before it was removed. At the time fault was not applied (i.e. from 0.00 to 0.100 and from 0.300 to 0.72), the circuit breaker was close and became open when fault was applied so as to cut off current flow through the line.The result obtained gave the disruption caused by the fault and the quick response of the circuit breaker in neutralizing it. Results gotten are based on when the circuit breaker is close and no fault is applied and when the circuit breaker is open due to fault. From this work, it was obtained that circuit breakers are very essential in system protection and reliability.
Enhanced Torque Control and Reduced Switching Frequency in Direct Torque Cont...IJPEDS-IAES
Direct Torque Control (DTC) of induction machine has received wide
acceptance in many adjustable speed drive applications due to its simplicity
and high performance torque control. However, the DTC using a common
two-level inverter poses two major problems such as higher switching
frequency (or power loss) and larger torque ripple. These problems are due to
inappropriate voltage vectors which are selected among a limited number of
voltage vectors available in two-level inverter. The proposed research aims to
formulate an optimal switching strategy using Dual-Inverter Supplied Drive
for high performances of DTC. By using dual-inverter supplied, it provides
greater number of voltage vectors which can offer more options to select the
most appropriate voltage vectors. The most appropriate voltage vectors
should able to produce minimum torque slope but sufficient to satisfy torque
demands. The identification is accomplished by using an equation of rate of
change of torque which is derived from the induction machine equations. The
proposed strategy also introduces a block of modification of torque error
status which is responsible to modify the status such that it can determine the
most optimal voltage vectors from a look-up table, according to motor
operating conditions. The improvements obtained are as follows; 1)
minimization of switching frequency (reduce power loss), and 2) reduction of
torque ripple. Some improvements obtained in the proposed strategy were
verified via experimentations.

Abstract Boilers are used industrially both for electric power generation and for supplying process stream in thermal power plants and its control is very important in many field applications. In some situation conventional PID control technique is being used for control purpose. These conventional controllers are not well suitable for some unusual conditions like load disturbances. Fuzzy logic control technique is being used to overcome these problems. A closed loop control system incorporating fuzzy logic has been developed for a class of industrial control systems. A unique fuzzy logic controller (FLC) structured with an efficient realization and a small rule base that can be easily implemented in existing industrial controllers. Fuzzy logic control system is much closer to human thinking and natural language than traditional control systems. This paper describes a fuzzy control technique and its implementation in boiler controls. Here a PIC microcontroller is being used where fuzzy control algorithm is implemented. The TRIAC is similar in operation to two thyristors connected in reverse
parallel but using a common gate connection. This gives the TRIAC the
ability to be triggered into conduction while having a voltage of either
polarity across it. In fact it acts rather like a "full wave" thyristor. Either
positive or negative gate pulses may be used.
TRIACS are mainly used in power control to give full wave control. This
enables the voltage to be controlled between zero and full power. With
simple "half wave" thyristor circuits the controlled voltage may only be
varied between zero and half power as the thyristor only conducts
during one half cycle. The TRIAC provides a wider range of control in
AC circuits without the need for additional components.
The DIAC is a bi-directional trigger diode used mainly in firing Triacs
and Thyristors in AC control circuits. Its circuit symbol is similar to that
of a Triac, but without the gate terminal, in fact it is a simpler device
and consists of a PNP structure. (like a transistor without a base)
The DIAC is designed to have a particular break over voltage, typically
about 30 volts, and when a voltage less than this is applied in either
polarity, the device remains in a high resistance state with only a small
leakage current flowing.
