Smart Mobility at Eindhoven University of Technology
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) focuses on the societal challenges in Smart Mobility. Good mobility is of great importance for individuals, as well as for businesses and the economy. For this reason around 230 researchers from dozens of TU/e research groups are working in the Smart Mobility areas on clean, efficient and intelligent vehicle technology, and on logistics and traffic systems. The aims include reducing emissions and congestion, and increasing safety. Examples of recent developments at TU/e are intelligent cars that communicate with each other to prevent congestion, lighter batteries for electric cars, cleaner and more economical diesel engines, and optimized planning models for goods transport.

The talk commences with example startling data to seek audience attention & participation. Cities are a fulcrum of ever growing population migration, this presents various issues that must be faced promptly so as to allow the next generation an opportunity to define their own built environment (for living, working, and playing). The ecosystem of groups involved is presenting new opportunities for entrepreneurs and new partnerships. The talk ends with a brief look-back at the technology that has been developed over the last 50 years, before posing a set of new questions and opening for discussion.

In this trial an Edge hosted Wi-Fi solution was evaluated for the purpose of extracting insights into road user behaviour and performance at the intersection within the AIMES testbed in Melbourne, in partnership with University of Melbourne, Department of Transport (DOT), Cohda Wireless, IAG and Cisco.

Auckland! How smart you are! Obviously, this presentation is to talk about Smart City. Even though there are many initiatives to promote smart city, is it really beneficial to us? In this talk, an overview of a smart city and various key technologies, mainly focusing on ICT (information and communication technology), will be introduced.
