The prestigious Y-Combinator accelerator program is known for being the launchpad for countless billion-dollar "unicorn" startups over the last decade, such as Airbnb, Dropbox, Instacart, Twitch, & many more.
A few years ago, the YC team released an (extremely) simple pitch deck template to help guide founders, based on what worked for decades of YC startups.
While not every founder can present their pitch deck in as simple terms as the likes of Airbnb & other YC stand-outs, their template is nevertheless a fantastic starting point for framing a winning investor presentation.
This adapted version of the YC Pitch Deck template was crafted for founders seeking to win funding &/or investment for their early-stage startups. Our team of experts added a professional design touch to the YC pitch deck formula, while preserving their focus on simplicity — something we have first-hand experience with, having consulted for several YC alums over the last 5+ years.

Can Nio Stock Reach $1,000 or Not? NIO Stock ForecastLinda William
Â
Theoretically, it’s possible that Nio stock can reach $1,000. Still, this scenario is not too likely, as the Nio stock price would have to increase by more than 91.5x from this current price to reach $1,000.
Nio impressed investors in 2020 in 2021, when the stock displayed an incredibly rally, which ultimately peaked at an all-time high price of just under $62. Since then, Nio stock has undergone a steep price correction, which reached as low as $7.56 in June of 2023. With the stock still at a deep discount compared to its all-time high, Nio is certainly worth a closer look.
We’ll explore what would need to happen for the Can Nio Stock Reach $1,000, and analyze the company’s key growth drivers for the future. Of course, we’ll also consider what could go wrong for Nio investors and provide a Nio stock forecast for 2023 and 2024.

The Local On Demand Economy. Who's making money in local? Where's the money...Simon Greenman
Â
I have been around local, a long long time, and there is a fundamental question that has been bothering me – who’ s making money in local? It used to be easy to answer this question - consumers used the newspapers and yellow pages to find local businesses. Margins were monopoly like and the newspapers and yellow pages were printing cash in the billions. Today consumers have a plethora of choices from Google to Yelp and increasingly verticalised mobile first on demand local services. Investors are pouring in. Thumbtack and Porch have raised $100M+; Handy $60M; Washio $17M; DogVacay $47M. And now Amazon, Google and newbies such as Curbside are trying to figure out the last mile of same day home delivery and pickup. Integrated local marketing agencies such as ReachLocal, Yodle, Web and Godaddy are fighting for the small local SMB marketing wallets. So who is really making the money today and who will make it tomorrow?

The 2013 Halo Report finds angel investment activity on the rise with more high-valuation deals closed in 2013 than in 2012. While median round sizes held steady at $600K per deal, they were at a three year high when angels co-invested with non-angels. The share of angel investment in Internet, healthcare and mobile startups continued to increase. Golden Seeds, Tech Coast Angels, and Houston Angel Network, which is new to the list, were the three most active angel groups in 2013. With a continued progression toward more even distribution of investments nationally, entrepreneurs throughout the country are likely to find it easier to access angel investors for critical early stage funding. The Halo Report, put together by the Angel Resource Institute, Silicon Valley Bank and CB Insights, includes aggregate analysis of investment activity by angel investors and angel investment groups, highlighting trends in round sizes, pre-money valuations, and industry investment preferences.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Â
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Â
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
Â
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
Â
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

3. A global snapshot
This report looks at over a dozen of the
top real estate portals from around the
globe.
This work requires data, so the analysis
naturally focuses on portals where data is
available (typically public companies).
Looking at the best in the world gives us
a clear window into best practices,
emerging trends, growth strategies, and
common insights and challenges.
I am the former head of strategy at a top
portal, and have spent the past two years
independently focused on the world of
real estate portals.

A portal’s homepage is a reflection
of its strategy.
Reviewing the designs of each—
what they include, exclude, and
where the focus lies—gives us
insight into what each portal
deems important.
These interfaces are the result of
years of research, learning, and
iteration around creating the ideal
visitor experience.

113. Exec team structures
A lot can be said for how a
company is organized, especially at
the top.
The composition of the exec team
gives us a window inside a
company’s strategy, and is where
the rubber hits the road when it
comes to execution and
responsibility.
