Things that can be done this week…
 Remember the earlier start time to morning staff meetings (now will be 8:25am).
 Getting some congratulations letters written for students in your classes. With winter coming these add to renewing
students motivation.
 FYI the school hall is being used on the weekend of Sat 28th and Sun 29th by the Labour Party (their shadow cabinet
will be here including leader Andrew Little). They are hiring the hall, staffroom and library.
 FYI the house moving contractors are planning to remove the first five prefabs in the week starting 23rd May (weather
permitting).
 Teach NZ has opened applications for teachers for their annual awards of sabbaticals (there are 50 one term paid
sabbaticals available) and study awards (there are 75 one year paid study awards available). Look up
www.teachnz/govt.nz/studyawards page to find more information.
 NCEA Assessments. Please stick to a two week timeframe for marking/moderation/entry onto kamar after completed
assessment. Letters will need to be sent home to the parents of students who have not completed their assessments.
Leon has created a template letter in kamar which can be used (this will mean this job will be quick and easy).
“The best place to start thinking about changing education is exactly where you
are in it.” (p. 66)
― Ken Robinson Creative Schools.
