10 insights to foster enterprise social adoption, that you already knowLetsConnect
We often tackle the well-known problem of social software adoption with complicated solutions, like revising or creating new adoption strategies. But in essence there are very simple initiatives, which you can take up, which will go a long way in improving adoption.
In this session we discuss insights on 10 such initiatives, which can foster adoption of social software. Things that you may already know, but you may not have implemented. The intent of this session is, to allow each participant, to take away, at least one actionable insight, that will help improve their organizations’ social software adoption. These insights are based on personal experiences and key observations during several customer engagements.
An overview from what Digital Workplace Group has done for members and non-members in 2017, and a flavour of things to come in 2018.
We have created Podcasts, research reports, blogs, organized online and face-fo-face meetings and of course co-hosted the first Digital Workplace Experience gathering, organized with Simpler Media/CMSwire.

The ideal Agile world describes dedicated Teams that implement a negotiable scope in fixed iterations to meet a moving target. The real world is usually more complex, and often requires interaction with projects and processes that have very different and “non-Agile” characteristics. This webinar describes the conduct of Agile governance for hybrid projects that contain very different types of processes. We will review the very real drivers that lead to these hybrid environments, and look at practical techniques for making hybrid projects successful.

The fork in the road - the Application Modernization Roadmap for Notes/Domin...John Head
For the past five years, PSC has presented at conferences all over the world sharing our vision of how applying a modernization methodology to Notes & Domino can lead to major improvements in user adoption and accessibility. The impact is felt by the user, the developer, and the ROI of the application. During this time, we have been successfully applying the same proven processes to other technologies outside of the ICS realm. It is now time to bring those worlds together. There are a lot of questions in the community about what to do with our applications given the change in Notes/Domino application development roadmap. This session will give you the PSC perspective on your options. It will include our vision for IBM XPages, including IBM Bluemix and will highlight our integration work with IBM Digital Experience. We will showcase our work with other technologies, including Microsoft (Office365, Azure, Addins, and more), Nintex, OutSystems, QuickBase, to name a few. This session is for Notes/Domino/XPages customers who want robust options to modernize their existing applications. We will show you other platforms as well as announce an exciting partnership that will allow IBM XPages apps to have life on other platforms as well. Come and see real world demos of how our strategy is working for our existing customers and will work for you. We can help you navigate the road ahead.

One of the biggest issues with moving to the cloud is the concern for security. How do we protect our information when it leaves the control of our servers and networks? The good news is that Microsoft has been working hard to provide us with tools that allow us to secure our information no matter where it travels, even outside of our network. Find out Microsoft’s approach to security and what tools we have to ensure our information is safe and secure in a cloud first, mobile first world.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. 30. What does the journey look like?
www.sharepointsummit.org
1. Define the Vision
2. Map To Value
3. Work the Solution
4. Evaluate, Adapt, & Iterate
30
32. Oil and Gas Services Company
www.sharepointsummit.org
32
Scenario:
• 3,000 users across many locations, 700 Information Workers
• No “owner” for intranet
• Currently on SharePoint 2003 with unstable farm
• Own Office 365 E1 Plan for 700 users
Need:
• Promote culture of Safety throughout company
• Provide reports to decision makers throughout the company
• Must get off unstable farm
• Build momentum with quick wins to gain traction across the company
33. Define the Vision
www.sharepointsummit.org
• Work with the business to identify the
strategic drivers for the Intranet
• Meet with end users to find out how they
work, what their goals and needs are
• Create a vision for the project that the client
agrees on
“We will create an information workplace for our users allowing
them to share knowledge and work efficiently”
33
34. Map to Value
www.sharepointsummit.org
• From the user interviews we will build User
Stories that define their normal tasks and
activities
• These stories will be ranked for importance to
the company and project
• Each User Story will get a work estimate
34
35. Work the Solution
www.sharepointsummit.org
• Identify the Top ranked User stories that fit
into the first iteration
• Team will work the list items daily
• If an obstacle can’t be cleared, put item on
hold and move to the next one
• Goal is to deliver early and get feedback from
the end users
• How big or small can a unit of work be?
35
36. Evaluate, Adapt, & Iterate
www.sharepointsummit.org
• As each iteration draws to a close two things
must happen
1. Each item worked on must be deployed
2. Next Iteration must be planned
• User Stories can be added or removed
• Priorities can be changed
• Delivered work is monitored for adoption and
potential improvements
• Overall solution is re-aligned with goals
36
38. Pros and Cons
www.sharepointsummit.org
Pros:
• Delivers value faster
• Allows for changing priorities
Cons:
• More difficult to manage process
• Easy to lose sight of the “big picture”
38
39. Thank you for your attention!
This presentation will be available on the
Vancouver SharePoint Summit website a few days after the event.
This organizational model has worked well to an extent. But it imposes costs. A highly structured organization is oftentimes a rigid, inflexible organization that cannot adapt quickly to a changing marketplace.
What does the pyramid mean?
One interpretation (original) was that it showed the increasing number of instances at each level (1 landing page, a few DFDs, 1 Dept for each dept, many ad hoc collab, 1 MySite/OneDrive for each employee)
I used to show this in the reverse (to show the importance of the top and decreasing amount of work as you go down
But, this also shows the value proposition…especially when you look at value against development cost
By combining lots of personalized widgets, we can craft a page that is specific for a particular use…with specific content for them
Let me know how that works for you…
Still, the landing page is hard to build, and take a long time. We have to get it just right
