  • 10. How does this impact my 5th Grader?  Students will be better prepared to meet the demands of college and/or the work place in the 21st century.  Students will be expected to read more difficult texts sooner and discuss what they read at a more complex level.  Students will be required to read and write critically in all subject areas.  Students will use reading and writing as tools for learning in science, social studies, and math.

  • 15. Remains the same this year-4 main units of study: Landforms and Oceans Properties of Matter (Mixtures & Solutions) Forces & Motion Ecosystems (Class set of textbooks instead of individual student copies) Increased focus on constructed responses with evidence.
  • 16. Language Arts Increased focus on:  Reading of nonfiction Vocabulary Constructed written responses with evidence.
  • 17. Social Studies Reconstruction through current day Same textbook and workbooks Access to textbooks online (coming soon!)
