The historic Pinkerton Rail Tunnel in southwestern Pennsylvania had been closed since 1999 when a nearby bike trail opened. In 2014, Armtec worked with engineering consultants to rehabilitate the 270 meter concrete tunnel using a corrugated steel liner matching the existing tunnel dimensions. Over 1000 steel plates were assembled into rings and installed over 2015. By mid-August, nearly three football fields of arched liner had been bolted into place. The project was completed in September 2015, reopening the tunnel and eliminating a 2.5 kilometer detour for bike trail users after 16 years.

Filipino Thanksgiving - Photo Social Interactionrafaelmalapitan
My family celebrates Thanksgiving every year since migrating from the Philippines. While we did not celebrate it in our home country, Thanksgiving has become an important tradition that brings our family together. For our Thanksgiving celebration, my aunt prepares a large feast that includes a turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and other traditional American dishes. We enjoy participating in American traditions like Thanksgiving dinner, while also sharing Filipino desserts. The holiday allows our multicultural family to embrace both Filipino and American cultures through food and celebration.
Sampuso, which means "One Heart" in English, is a Filipino culture club open to all students at Pierce College. The club aims to educate members about Filipino culture while also helping them succeed in college. At a recent meeting, club officers handed out an agenda and started an icebreaker game to get members interacting. Students then shared advice and tips to help each other be successful in their college careers. The president reminded everyone about upcoming club events before the meeting concluded and members socialized further.
Mercer West: Open House (Sept. 21, 2010)Eric O'Brien
This document provides an overview of the Mercer West Project which aims to convert Mercer Street to two-way traffic from I-5 to Elliott Avenue West. The project would add options for freight traffic from I-5 to Interbay, connect the Uptown and South Lake Union urban centers, and enhance transit access. It evaluates feasibility of expanding sidewalks and intersections along West Mercer Place. It also discusses converting Fifth Avenue N to Fifth Avenue W and Roy Street to two lanes in each direction with bike lanes on Roy Street. The existing Aurora Avenue underpass would be widened to add lanes, a median, bike path, and wider sidewalks. Straight and curved designs for Sixth Avenue N are presented.

1) The document discusses the opportunity for technology to improve organizational efficiency and transition economies into a "smart and clean world."
2) It argues that aggregate efficiency has stalled at around 22% for 30 years due to limitations of the Second Industrial Revolution, but that digitizing transport, energy, and communication through technologies like blockchain can help manage resources and increase efficiency.
3) Technologies like precision agriculture, cloud computing, robotics, and autonomous vehicles may allow for "dematerialization" and do more with fewer physical resources through effects like reduced waste and need for transportation/logistics infrastructure.

I-670, North Fourth Street Exit RedesignSean Deken
This document presents and evaluates four alternatives for improving the exit from Interstate 670 to Fourth Street in Italian Village, Columbus, Ohio. The goal is to reduce high vehicle speeds on Fourth Street that are incompatible with the growing pedestrian population in the area. Alternative 1 reconstructs the ramp in its current location with a new alignment and traffic signal. Alternative 2 relocates the ramp to the existing Third Street exit. Alternative 3 adds a traffic signal at the end of the existing ramp with ramp widening. Alternative 4 modifies the existing ramp with traffic calming measures but no signal. Each alternative is evaluated based on right-of-way impacts, construction costs, traffic impacts, anticipated speed reductions, and maintenance of traffic during construction. Alternative
The document discusses transportation issues related to a proposed redevelopment plan in Aspen Hill, Maryland. It finds that redevelopment with maximum allowed office, retail, or residential uses would generate the most vehicle trips during peak hours. A traffic analysis was conducted for several development scenarios and found that a 218,000 square foot maximum retail development would exceed traffic thresholds at nearby intersections, while a 170,000 square foot retail development would meet traffic standards. The document recommends that primary access for any redevelopment be from Connecticut Avenue rather than Aspen Hill Road to minimize neighborhood traffic impacts.
