ABSTRACT
An effective and efficient learning process requires appropriate learning strategies.
A teacher, must be able to design and implement good learning so as to achieve the goals
set. To be able to design and implement learning requires an understanding of teaching
strategies and mastery of teaching media. Effective learning can be seen from how this
learning can answer the needs of students, as well as the demands of the times. Training
on the use of technology in teaching is the right thing considering that education in
Indonesia must be able to adapt to technological advances. The use of technology in
teaching will encourage teachers to create a technology-based learning process. This
training was conducted for teachers at Wulungsari Public Elementary School with a focus
on the use of technology in online learning.
Keywords: learning media, learning technology
INTRODUCTION
With the development of the era of globalization, technology plays an important
role in all areas of human life, including economics, politics, arts and culture, as well as in
education. It is impossible to think of technology as "territory".which can help solve
human life efficiently and effectively from time to time Educational technology consists
of two words, namely technology and education. Engineering comes from the Greek word
"technology".
According to Webster's Dictionary, it means systematic or systematic treatment,
while "techne" as a technology base means art, skill, science or expertise, ability,
knowledge. At the same time, education is a systematic transmission of
knowledge.Another definition of educational technology (Commission on Educational
Technology in Norman Beswick, Research-based learning, 1997) in English is
educational technology and media tools that emerged from the communications
revolution and can be used for educational purposes for teachers, books and blackboards.
2. Basically educational technology in this sense is very fast communication that is used in
the classroom, whereas in communication the means of communication in the form of
technical aids or so-called "hardware" are in the foreground.
On the other hand, we believe that educational technology is the development,
application and evaluation of technical systems and tools to improve and enhance human
learning. Another definition of educational technology is the development (research,
design, production, evaluation, support use) learning system components (messages,
people, materials, equipment, techniques and environment) and the systematic
management of development work (organization and personnel).solve learning problems.
In the world of education, technology is very important to support the teaching
process in educational institutions. Many students encounter various technologies and
products in their daily lives, discover, use, experience and enjoy.
RESEARCH METHOD
This study design was journal library research. The purpose of this study design was
to give knowledge about the importance of learning technology. The research method was
descriptive comparative study that support to make the research reported as solved as
well. Online library was the main sources of supported data.
DISCUSSION
2.1 Affirmation of Terms
A. Education technology
Originally the term teaching technology was synonymous with teaching
technology, namely facilities that support teaching and learning, such as
computers, overhead projectors, televisions, video recorders, etc. Then, over time,
several opinions emerged about what teaching technology is. way According to
the Commission on Definitions and Terminology of the Association for
Educational Communication and Technology (AECT), educational technology is a
complex and integrated process that involves people, processes, ideas, devices,
and organizations to analyze problems, find solutions, implement, evaluate, and
manage problem solving which concerns all aspects of human learning.
On the other hand, there are those who argue that educational technology is
the development, application and evaluation of systems, techniques and tools to
enhance human learning. The focus is on the learning process itself, in addition to
the tools that support the learning process. So, educational technology is about
software and hardware.
The recognition that learning technology is part of educational technology,
3. as defined in 1977, has become a serious study among educational experts,
resulting in two groups with their respective arguments. Groups that use the term
learning technology are based on two reasons, namely: First, learning words better
fit the function of technology; Second, the word education is more appropriate for
matters relating to schools or the educational environment. This group believes
that the word education is used in school settings, whereas learning is broad,
including educational situations.
2.2 Types of Technology
A. Audio technology
One of the educational techniques in Indonesia that you must know is the
listening technique. Technology is the way to trust sound. Some examples of sound
technology are cassettes, tape recorders, LPs, radio, etc.
The disadvantage of this technology is that it cannot be used for deaf people.
Therefore, before using this technique, make sure the audience has good hearing, is
healthy, and is not deaf.
If audio technology uses sound, then audiovisual technology uses image and
sound elements. This technology is one of the best technologies as educational
technology because it makes it easier for audiences to understand and understand
the content of information.
Some examples of audiovisual technology are projectors, LCD screens,
laptops, etc. Deaf people can still use this technology because they can read facial
expressions and lip movements.
B. visual technique
If audiovisual technology combines images and sound, then visual
technology only relies on visual elements. Some examples of visual technology in
everyday life are slides, prints, paintings, drawings, photographs, etc.
Visual technology relies on visual acuity, so make sure your audience is not
blind or color blind. Visual education technology is suitable for people who are deaf
or hard of hearing because it deals with clearer images
4. 2.3 The advantages and disadvantages of educational technology
The advantages of educational technology
1. Effective Learning Methods
The existence of technology can make it easier for humans to do "something".
In this case, education has many advantages or benefits from technology, one of
which is creating a more effective way of learning.
Students have a better platform to study and understand different materials
with the help of technology. This technology allows them to use a more
interactive platform. Such platforms can easily show you the essence of
research and information that you want to study. After all, they can learn much
faster than traditional methods.
2. Easy and Unlimited Information
Technology connects students with so many sources of information through
internet media. In the past, without modern technology, you would need to
spend hours finding the topic you wanted to study. Plus, you spend most of
your energy finding topics that make the learning process slower.
With modern technology, especially digital technology and the internet, you
can find everything you need in seconds. Thus, you save more energy and time
to do additional things. You can focus your time and energy on learning and
understanding topics.
Apart from that, you can also access various sources easily. We could even
say, with technology, you never run out of information and resources.
Unlimited information is now at your fingertips. This helps us to grow and be
better and faster than before.
5. The Disadvantages of Technology in the Field of Education
1. Distractions
When you have access to many sources on the internet to find the information
you want to study, you can sometimes find yourself accessing other unnecessary
sources as well. Curiosity is human nature. So, it's not surprising, if you want to know
what you can find on unnecessary sources. The result is that you spend more time
figuring out something you don't really need, instead of focusing on what you want to
learn.
2. Lazy Mindset
Ease of access to all kinds of information that technology has brought to the
education system has the risk of creating a lazy mindset in students. An easy example
is when students need to research a particular topic, they do all the data collection
with technology, in this case, it's the internet. They don't go out of their class and are
busy with their gadgets. While the real subject of their research lies out there, in the
real world.
If a student continues to use this method, they will have the mindset that they
don't need to experience it first hand to find what they need. They just need to use the
internet to find the information they need. Whereas the truth experienced directly will
give you much more information than using text as your source.
3. Expensive Cost
If educational institutions want to keep updating their technology systems with
the latest and better systems, the costs they need to spend are not small. This can also
affect the cost of education. You can easily find many schools or colleges with high
fees or even additional fees, to provide them with the latest technology for learning.
Costs are getting higher because of the rapid growth of technology. You can
easily discover new technologies every year and even every month. To keep
technology in education going with rapid growth, more costs are needed.
6. CONCLUSION
The current era of globalization cannot prevent the rapid development of
technology. Its influence on the world of education cannot be avoided. Global
demands demand that the world of education always and continuously adapts
technological developments with efforts to improve the quality of education,
especially adjusting its use for the world of education, especially in the learning
process. That's where teachers and students must master technology and apply it in the
learning process
