This proposal is for a documentary about the impact of music in daily life, targeted towards 16-24 year olds. The rationale explains that the student has improved their skills in editing software like Photoshop and Premier Pro through previous projects. The project concept is to create an animated documentary explaining different types of music and their impact in an understandable way for teenagers. Research will include learning about animation styles and compiling information about music. The evaluation will compare the final project to early work and online examples, and identify strengths and areas for future improvement through written reflection.

The impact music has in our daily life
Audience:
My product would appeal to 16-24 years old both males and females. This is because I think that a
lot of teenagers or young adults enjoy listening to music or going to parties when there will be
music a lot more that the middle aged people so I think that it would be a lot more interesting for
them to know a bit more about something they are familiar with everyday.
In our generation some teenagers feel like they have to listen to some type of music to appear like
an achiever just to make themselves feel good or look some type of way or they would want to live
the same lifestyle as their favourite artist. This is why I would class most of my audience as
Emulators/Wanna be’s and socially conscious type B.
Furthermore, my project is free as it will be available on Youtube so people can use the majority of
their wages on living expenses which is why the social grade would be working class.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout this year I think that I’ve made good improvements. In the beginning of last year I
didn’t really know how to go about these projects and I wasn’t very good at using Photoshop,
Premier Pro or even a camera but now that I was able to practise those skills in my previous
projects I was able to get a good understanding in all those editing softwares.
Studying Creative Media has really helped and informed me about a lot of things including my
choice for this project. Thanks to all these projects I was able to realise that I’m really into
producing video’s and editing them. With the knowledge that I have now I am able to differentiate
different shot types and angles and I also know how to use Adobe Software quite well which is
something I’ll need in for my factual project.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
For my project I’m going to produce a documentary about music.
I chose the topic music because in general I always listen to music like whenever I go somewhere
or at home I would have music on, so I thought it would be interesting to try and find out something
more about it than just listening to songs.
In my documentary I’m thinking of producing it in an animated version because personally that’s
one of the ways that generally helps me understand something alot better or in more detail and I
think that it would make it easier to get my point across and it would be fun to watch.
For my research I will try and get as much information as possible. If anything that I researched
seems to be difficult to understand I will try and rephrase it in a way that I personally as a teenager
myself would understand. I will also have to research different types of animated videos or
animation websites to already get an idea of what I will be going for.
This research will help me because when I have a wide range of animated characters ,information
and animation websites so production process won’t be too overwhelming as I will already know
what I will be talking about and how I’m thinking of producing it
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
For my evaluation I will be comparing my work with one of the videos I looked up to on Youtube
and my first ever music video project so that I will be able to look at my improvements but also my
weaknesses to be able to improve in the future. I am also planning on writing down everything that
I though was good in my project and also everything that didn’t go as planned and could be
improved. Personally I think that his process is very important and useful as it will be able to help
me in the future when I will be looking back and reflecting on it.
