Festivals.
While there are several mango festivals that take place throughout the world,
the International Mango Festival in India is one of the largest. A mango is the
juicy fruit of a tropical tree. There are more than five hundred different
varieties of mangoes in India. They have different colours and taste. People
traditionally eat mangoes raw in India but during the festival visitors can learn
various recipes from famous Indian chefs. The festival has a lot of
competitions such as a mango eating competition, a mango slogan writing
competition, a mango carving competition, and mango quizzes. If you visit the
International Mango Festival you, will taste mango jams, fruit juices, and many
other things.

The Battle of the Oranges is a festival in the Northern Italian city of Ivrea,
Italy in February. The traditional festival days are Sunday, Monday and
Tuesday. The festival has a tradition of throwing oranges between organized
groups. It is the largest food fight in Italy. During the Battle of the Oranges
thousands of townspeople, divided into nine teams throw oranges at each other.
Oranges for the event are from the island of Sicily. The oranges are of low
quality, not good for people. Fighters use about 270,000 kilograms of oranges
each year. Three best foot teams, three carriages with two horses and three
carriages with four horses get prizes.
The Food and Fun Festival is in winter in Iceland. This food festival is an
interesting event. For the first four days of the festival chefs from other
countries cook in local restaurants and prepare special dishes. On the final day
chefs compete for the title of "Chef of the Year". The chefs have one hour to
buy products in the local markets. They can buy only fresh Icelandic
ingredients. Then the chefs have three hours to prepare a three-course Icelandic
meal. The best meal becomes the final meal of the festival.
Visitors can meet cooks from many counties.
