As a Physical Education and Health Educator I feel that integrating technology
into the curriculum is imperative for students to reach a higher level of thinking. Not only
will it make a difference in their learning, but also integrating technology into the realm
of Kinesiology will reach various learning styles. When technology is incorporated into
the classroom, students will be able to access supplementary materials, quizzes, study
guides and even reflect through a blog online. Blogs would take the place of in class
journals and give teacher feedback. Posting daily assignments online would help
students know when assignments are due. Students who are absent from class would be
able to access the assignment online and not have to worry about picking up assignments
from school—they would already have access to them at their fingertips. In order to
advance students’ knowledge, it would be most beneficial to integrate technology into the
Physical Education and Health setting—making a more rigorous and relevant learning
environment.
To educate young minds is to continually learn. I feel that increasing my use of
technology will not only affect me as a learner but also my students. Passing on
information I learn through this program will take the basic computer skills I have to the
next level. Through this program, I will gain a vast amount of knowledge and integrate it
into the Kinesiology domain. I hope to learn how to create lessons that use technology to
engage student learning. I would like to more effectively use the programs that I am
already familiar as well as learn new programs to facilitate student learning. Also, I
would like to learn how to create a class website in order to reach my students at a
different level. Increasing my skill in technology will better prepare me to engage the
minds of our future.
