Do you expect union activity to increase or decrease globally? Please explain.
I think union activity will decrease globally for the foreseeable future. I am basing this on the decline of union activity in the top 3 countries ranked by GDP. They are the United States, China and Japan. These countries are all experiencing a decrease in union membership. In the United States both federal and state governments have been working to reduce the bargaining power and influence of unions. China has a huge working population but, has workers demand better pay and working conditions, local and international companies threaten to move their businesses elsewhere (Griswold, 11 Jul 2010). These threats will force the Chinese government to step in to ensure production does not stop. Also, the economy in China has slowed in the past few years causing huge economic and political problems. The Chinese government will discourage unions from negatively affecting the economic situation and therefor discouraging union activity. Japan is facing a workforce shortage; especially in the next 10 years. This you would think would encourage union activity to increase but, this will not happen for 2 reasons. Union activity is more active in manufacturing and production jobs and less in more technical fields. With Japan leading the way in modernizing and automating production jobs, union activity will decrease. The other reason union activity will decrease in Japan is that the newest generation to join the workforce does not see the benefits union representation can provide when working with senior management.

In a recent court case, a judge threw out a lawsuit that aimed to prevent teacher unions from using union dues to engage in political activities. In LA, four teachers (backed by an organization called StudentsFirst) sued to prevent the union dues they paid into from being used to support political activities that they disagreed with. The suit was thrown out because the judge decided, despite agreeing with many of the arguments, that the plaintiffs had not shown that the state and unions worked together in an unconstitutional manner.
Do unions engage in ethical behavior? Please explain.
I believe unions ultimately engage ethically, but not totally. I say ultimately because it was through their hard work that certain measures were adopted, such as banning child labor, minimum wages, increased safety measures, limits on working hou.

Your company recently reviewed the results of a penetration test.docxhyacinthshackley2629
Your company recently reviewed the results of a penetration test on your network. Several vulnerabilities were identified, and the IT security management team has recommended mitigation. The manager has asked you to construct a plan of action and milestones (POA&M) given that the following vulnerabilities and mitigations were identified:
The penetration test showed that not all systems had malware protection software in place. The mitigation was to write a malware defense process to include all employees and retest the system after the process was implemented.
The penetration test indicated that the data server that houses employee payroll records had an admin password of “admin.” The mitigation was to perform extensive hardening of the data server.
The penetration test also identified many laptop computers that employees brought to work and connected to the internal network, some of which were easily compromised. The mitigation was to write a bring your own device (BYOD) policy for all employees and train the employees how to use their devices at work.

Your company You are a new Supply Chain Analyst with the ACME.docxhyacinthshackley2629
Your company: You are a new Supply Chain Analyst with the ACME Corporation. We design specialty electronics that are components in larger finished goods such as major appliances, automobiles and industrial equipment. Manufacturing is outsourced to low-cost suppliers due to the significant labor contribution and closeness to electronic component suppliers.
Your product: ACME Corp. designs a leading-edge family of devices branded as “Voice Assistants.” These are add-on boxes that many OEMs are using as plug-and-play devices in a wide variety of Internet-of-Things products. They are also sold directly to consumers as after-market items, but only for IoT devices that were built with our proprietary data-port.
Figure 1: Product line of ACME Corp Voice Assistant IoT Add-on Boxes
Your task: Your Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) is requesting a review of supplier-to-customer processes as related to recent growth in our company and increasing demand for faster responsiveness to customers. One alternative is to decentralize our inventory into regional Distribution Centers; however, our ERP system is currently limited in the data available to make some of these decisions – and the output reports are very antiquated. Starting off the process, the CSCO directed that your Analysis Team use population data to pro-rate our national sales data as a starting point. For this analysis, you are asked to focus only on the flagship product, Voice Assistant IoT Add-on Box, 4GB, SKU #123-456789. The challenge is now yours to complete some computations and interpret the results!
Your data: A detailed report from your ERP system along with secondary data from the U.S. Census Bureau (reference: https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/popest/data/data-sets.html) is provided. (Note: Sales to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are handled by a 3PL provider and therefore are NOT part of this analysis.) The consolidated EXCEL® file has incorporated several tasks already performed by the Analysis Team --- sort, cleanse, inventory optimization, etc. Other tasks remain for your team.
Detailed Requirements: Prepare a formal report summarizing your results and providing recommendations that are supported by facts. The required layout follows:
A. Supply Chain Management:
a. Identify a single key supplier and a single key customer for your product, including a brief description of their product.
b. Identify the proper type of business relationship that your company should have with the supplier and customer from Part A, above, then briefly describe the data that you would share with them.
c. When implementing Supply Chain Management with your #1 key supplier for the first time, create a timeline that lists each of the six SCOR processes in the order that you recommend implementation; include process leader (by job title), primary contact at supplier/customer (by job title), and duration to implement.
d. Briefly describe each of the four enablers of supply chain .

What elements of the transactional communication model did you see as you were observing their behavior? What about your 'decoding' of the scene? Do you think you had any personal 'noise' or bias that may have affected how you saw or interpreted the scene?
Post your report to the Discussion Board and then read all of the posts
Post your replies to two classmates and using your skills in perception take a position of empathy
.
Explain how you perceive the scene your classmate reports and take a perspective demonstrating empathy as defined in our textbook in chapter 2 (page 52) putting yourself in the place of either or both persons your classmate observed. What you can learn from the description of the scene reported by your classmate and you considering Empathy, Perception, and observed Communication. More through reports and replies will receive higher scores.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

1Do you expect union activity to increase or decrease globally .docx
1. 1
Do you expect union activity to increase or decrease globally?
Please explain.
I think union activity will decrease globally for the foreseeable
future. I am basing this on the decline of union activity in the
top 3 countries ranked by GDP. They are the United States,
China and Japan. These countries are all experiencing a
decrease in union membership. In the United States both federal
and state governments have been working to reduce the
bargaining power and influence of unions. China has a huge
working population but, has workers demand better pay and
working conditions, local and international companies threaten
to move their businesses elsewhere (Griswold, 11 Jul 2010).
These threats will force the Chinese government to step in to
ensure production does not stop. Also, the economy in China
has slowed in the past few years causing huge economic and
political problems. The Chinese government will discourage
unions from negatively affecting the economic situation and
therefor discouraging union activity. Japan is facing a
workforce shortage; especially in the next 10 years. This you
would think would encourage union activity to increase but, this
will not happen for 2 reasons. Union activity is more active in
manufacturing and production jobs and less in more technical
fields. With Japan leading the way in modernizing and
automating production jobs, union activity will decrease. The
other reason union activity will decrease in Japan is that the
newest generation to join the workforce does not see the
benefits union representation can provide when working with
senior management.

In a recent court case, a judge threw out a lawsuit that aimed to
prevent teacher unions from using union dues to engage in
political activities. In LA, four teachers (backed by an
organization called StudentsFirst) sued to prevent the union
dues they paid into from being used to support political
activities that they disagreed with. The suit was thrown out
because the judge decided, despite agreeing with many of the
arguments, that the plaintiffs had not shown that the state and
unions worked together in an unconstitutional manner.
Do unions engage in ethical behavior? Please explain.
I believe unions ultimately engage ethically, but not totally. I
say ultimately because it was through their hard work that
certain measures were adopted, such as banning child labor,
minimum wages, increased safety measures, limits on working
hours, and increases in rest time for employees. That said, there
are times where the belief that "ends justify the means" where
unions have used force or intimidation to achieve their means,
which I completely disagree with. Additionally, I think that
many of the reasons why unions were originally created are no
longer as huge a factor, so some unions keep pushing for more
things to keep relevant (although many keep pushing b/c
conditions require updating).
I do find it ironic that many of the conditions unions fought for
are probably the reason why so many manufacturing jobs were
sent overseas. As in, jobs were sent overseas where workers are
3. treated horribly because unions made firms treat their workers
humanely over here.
Finally, I'm not sure that gauging someone's ethical behavior is
something an economist would really be concerned with. :)

Both computer viruses and biological viruses cause infection
and damage to their host. Although they share what would seem
like characteristic features they are not the same (Difference
between Biological and Computer virus, n.d.). Viruses are
simple structures composed of proteins and nucleic acids. They
lack the components of a classic cell and cannot make new viral
particles without the aid of a host cell. Viruses depend on a host
cell for replication. Through this process they invade the host
cell and hijack its machinery (Boundless, n.d.). Computer
viruses are programmed to attack certain parts of a computer
whether it is operating systems or other software. They can also
spread to other uninfected computers like biological viruses by
high jacking the computers machinery too (Difference between
Biological and Computer virus, n.d.). The fact that computer
virus “live” in a nonorganic environment and are only able to do
what they are programmed to do in my opinion would count
them out as being alive. They are unable to evolve to their
environment and cannot adapt to outside changes without being
told or programmed to do so. No they are not living.

Scientists have been researching for cures to diseases known to
be devastating to the human population for centuries. We are
nearing the elimination of seven such diseases due to decades of
dedicated research of scientists. These seven diseases are
mostly found today in third world countries due to advances in
research and our understanding of viruses. These seven diseases
are: measles, rubella, polio, guinea worm, Lymphatic filariasis
(aka. elephantiasis), Onchocerciasis (river blindness) and
mumps. (Brodwin, 2015) Scientists are eliminating these
diseases through the use of vaccines developed to prevent the
virus from hiding in healthy cells and then destroying the host
cells. It seems to me we have already chosen the next virus to
eradicate or develop a vaccine; and that is HIV.
