pride of lions

is not a script of a National

but an apt metaphorical de-
scription of how India de-

World Cup encounter on
Saturday. In front of a mass
of blue at the Narendra
Modi Stadium in
Ahmedabad, Team India
continued their supremacy
over their arch rivals, ex-
tending their record to 8-0.
India looks a formidable
outlook, one that will be
certainly dejected if it falls
short of the World Cup!
On a good batting track
India invited the Pakistanis
to bat. Shubman Gill was
back on his IPLground and
Ishan Kishan was dropped
to accommodate him. The
start by the Pakistani open-
ers reminded one of the
2011 World Cup semifinal
when Virender Sehwag hit
Umar Gul for 5 fours in an
over. While the destruction
wasn’t that strong, they did
hit4boundariesin5ballsin
the first 2 overs. It was then
that Bumrah showcased his
skills that make him the
leadingfastbowlerinacross
formats. In his next 2 overs,
Bumrah gave away just 1
run though Siraj was leak-
ing runs galore.
This control from one
end didn’t allow Pakistan to
get off to a galloping start
and kept India in the hunt
since the first wicket came
in the 8th over when Siraj
castled Abdullah Shafique
leg before. In a few more
overs, Imam-Ul Haq was
also dismissed, caught be-
hind off Hardik Pandya.
Even after a brisk start, Pa-
kistan averaged just 5 runs
an over till Indian spinners
took charge. Both Jadeja
and Kuldeep too bowled
with guile and discipline,
keeping the duo of Babar
Azam and Mohammad Ri-
zwan at bay.
Although the star Paki-
stani batsmen stitched a 98-
run stand, they had a buck-
et of dot balls as Indian
spinners didn’t allow easy
rotation of strike. While
they bowled to a plan, as
later revealed in post-
match interviews, Rohit’s
captaincy too is to be ap-
preciated for field placings
and bowling changes.
Bringing back Siraj for a
second spell led to the
wicket of Babar Azam!
The breakthrough made
Rohit tighten his field
placements for the new
batsman, thus helping Kul-
deepscalpthenext2batters
in just one over. Sensing the
moment, Rohit went for the
kill and introduced Bumrah
as there was a hint of re-
verse swing as well. Bum-
rah’s slower one bowled
Rizwan and in the next
over, he hit the top of Shad-
ab Khan’s off stump with a
beauty. Pitched on middle
stump it straightened into a
delivery that would have
accounted for most batters
around the world!
With Pakistan in tatters,
India never took the foot of
the pedal and dismissed
them for a paltry 191. With
a small total, Pakistan
needed early wickets along
with a check on the scoring
rate but Rohit’s first ball
hit to the boundary was a
statement that the Indian
side wasn’t to be subdued
chasing a low score. Shub-
man too hit 4 boundaries
for his 16 but got out cut-
ting to point.
Unlike the Pakistani
batsmen, Indian batters did
not allow the fall of wick-
ets to dent their attacking
intent. Rohit and Virat put
on 56 runs together in the
next 7 overs, putting India
well in command. Rohit
eventually got out at 86 but
not before he had almost
sealed the win. It was a
brutal display of six hitting
from him once again. He
hit 6 sixes on the night to
go with 6 fours. His aggres-
sion rubbed on to Shreyas
Iyer also who took India
home with an unbeaten 53
that included 2 mammoth
sixes as well.

CHINESE-CHECKERS
IN INDIA’S BACKYARD
ndia’s dream of hosting the 2036 Summer
Olympics could be realized after Prime Min-
ister Narendra Modi confirmed that India
would bid for the Games. If India’s request comes
through, it would further boost the country’s image.
It is fair to say that there has been a drastic improve-
ment in India’s infrastructure, including in sporting
venues. Roads, airports and hotels in different cities
are all well equipped to host the mega sporting event
and there is no better proof of India’s capability than
the successful G-20 summit. Expansion of accom-
modation capacity, effective coordination of different
venues will still be needed. Geo-political factors, like
the ones witnessed before the Qatar Olympics, will
require diplomatic handling and then will come the
need to mobilize public support.
The improvement in infrastructure in different cit-
ies is taking place almost at a competitive pace.
Choosing one city to host the Games may not be easy
but Ahmedabad seems to have already emerged as
the front-runner.

pattinam in Tamil Nadu and Kankesanthurai in Sri
Lanka to restart the sea link after a gap of 40 years.
PM Narendra Modi said the connectivity will bring
the two countries and its people closer. External
Affairs Minister S Jaishankar described the re-
sumption of ferry service as a strategic initiative
and “a truly big step for boosting people-to-people
contact”. In the backdrop of this historic step, how-
ever, looms the ominous shadow of China which is
bent on pouring cold
water on the warm
ties between India
and Sri Lanka by
sending a Chinese
survey/spy ship
dock in its southern
port of Hambantota.
The first docking
took place in Au-
gust 2022 despite
concerns by India
and the United
States. India had ex-
plicitly asked Co-
lombo not to allow
the Chinese vessel
as it posed threat to
India’s security in-
terests but Yuan
Wang 5 was permit-
ted to enter the deep
sea port on the pre-
text that it was refueling and taking supplies.
Fourteen months later China is back to its suspi-
cious ways in the Indian Ocean. Its research vessel
Shi Yan 6 is expected to moor in Hambantota this
month despite objections by India.Another ship Hai
Yang 24 Hao is already docked at the port.
President Wickremesinghe has assured India that
it will safeguard India’s security and strategic inter-
ests. For India the regular dockings of Chinese sur-
vey ships in its backyard pose a major security
threat which cannot be ignored even after President
Wickremesinghe’s assurance to Modi.

The Grand Old Party releases first list for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana assembly polls to be held next month

First India Bureau
New Delhi
The Congress on Sunday
released its first lists of
candidates for Telangana,
Chhattisgarh and Madhya
Pradesh polls, fielding all
three of its Lok Sabha
MPs from Telangana.
For the 230-member
Madhya Pradesh Assem-
bly, the Congress re-
leased a list of 144 candi-
dates, including 69 of its
96 sitting legislators.
Former Chief Minister
Kamal Nath will contest
from his Chhindwara
seat. The party has field-
ed television actor
Vikram Mastal against
CM Shivraj Singh Chou-
han from Budhni. Mastal
portrayed Hanuman in
the reboot of the Rama-
yan serial produced by
Sagar Arts in 2008.
Amid speculation that
the BJPcould field Union
Civil Aviation Minister
Jyotiraditya Scindia from
the Shivpuri Assembly
seat after his aunt, four-
term sitting legislator and
State Minister Yashod-
hara Raje Scindia, de-
clined to contest, the
Congress has fielded KP
Singh. Singh is a six-time
legislator from the neigh-
bouring Pichhore seat.
Shivpuri and Pichhore
are part of the Guna Lok
Sabha constituency,
which Jyotiraditya repre-
sented from 2002 as a
Congress MPuntil losing
in 2019 to the BJP and
crossed over to that party
a year later. From
Kolaras, another seat in
the Guna Lok Sabha con-
stituency, the Congress
has fielded Baijnath Ya-
dav, who had joined the
BJPalong with Jyotiradi-
tya but later returned.
The Congress’s Madhya Pradesh list has 39 candidates belonging to
Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 22 from Scheduled Castes (SCs) and
30 Scheduled Tribes (STs). It also has 19 women candidates, and 65
are below 50 years of age. The party has fielded Awadhesh Nayak, who
crossed over from the BJP, against State Home Minister Narottam
Mishra from Datia. In the list of 144, the party has fielded 47 new
candidates from the last time.

The Bhupesh Baghel

eight MLAs have been

state BJP chief Arun

The Congress is pre-

Chhattisgarh will see
two phase Assembly

counted on December 3.
The Congress on Sun-

Marrakesh (Morocco)
Finance Minister Nirma-
la Sitharaman on Satur-
day urged the private sec-
tor to come forward and
support the Sustainable
Development Goals
(SDGs) saying it is the
collective responsibility
of all stakeholders to par-
ticipate and contribute in
this endeavour.
Speaking at an event
organised on the side-
lines of the IMF-World
BankAnnual meetings at
Marrakesh in Morocco,
the minister exuded con-
fidence that MDB reform
process emanating from
the G20 deliberations
will prompt multilateral
development banks
(MDBs) to maximise in-
vestments into develop-
ing nations.
The 17 SDGs adopted
by United Nations mem-
ber states in 2015 were
aimed at addressing a
wide range of social, eco-
nomic, and environmen-
tal challenges by 2030,
she said.
“India under its Presi-
dency has called upon all
G20 members to collec-
tively resolve to fully and
effectively implement the
2030 Agenda and accel-
erate progress toward the
SDGs, in a timely man-
ner,” Sitharaman said.
Observing that the
SDGs provide a shared
blueprint for peace and
prosperity for people and
the planet, the Finance
Minister said, “It is the
collective responsibility
of all stakeholders to par-
ticipate in and contribute
to this endeavour. I invite
the private sector to come
forward and join the pur-
suit of this global vision.
The global progress on
SDGs is off-track with
only close to 12 per cent
of the targets on track, she
said, adding India under
its Presidency has called
upon all G20 members to
collectively resolve to
fully and effectively im-
plement the 2030Agenda
and accelerate progress
toward the SDGs, in a
timely manner.
It may be noted that
the 17 Sustainable De-
velopment Goals (SDGs)
adopted by United Na-
tions member states in
2015 were aimed at ad-
dressing a wide range of
social, economic, and
environmental challeng-
es by 2030, she said.
With only seven years
remaining to achieve the
shared goals set out in the
Agenda 2030, she said, it
is essential to work to-
wards closing the financ-
ing gap by fostering glob-
al cooperation and align-
ing financial resources
towards these goals.
For the first time, dur-
ing India’s G20 Presi-
dency, the agenda of Sus-
tainable Finance has
been extended to cover
financing for SDGs, in
addition to Climate Fi-
nance, she said.
To bridge the SDGs
financing gap, she said,
especially for Emerging
Markets and Developing
Economies (EMDEs),
there is a need to enhance
innovative financing ap-
proaches such as blended
finance and risk-sharing
tools which could be
used to leverage private
finance for scaling up
sustainable finance.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om
Birla on Sunday said he
has conveyed to his coun-
terparts from G20 nations
that India does not sup-
port terrorism or terror
activities in any form.
Birla was responding
to questions on the bilat-
eral meetings he had with
Speakers of G20 nations
during the Parliament 20
Summit that concluded
here on Saturday.
“The position of the
government is very clear
in this regard. The Prime
Minister has also said it
in his statement. The
government has made it
clear that terrorism and
terror activities have no
place in India,” the Lok
Sabha speaker said while
briefing reporters on the
P20 Summit.
He was responding to
a question on whether
any Speaker from the
G20 countries had raised
the issue of presence of
people in India who were
pursuing separatist ac-
tivities abroad.
On the P20 Summit,
Birla said 436 delegates
including presiding offic-
ers of 27 nations and 49
members of parliament
participated in the two-
day summit held at
Yashobhoomi here. He
said this was the maxi-
mum attendance at any
P20 Summit so far a
consensus on joint state-
ment was a key highlight
of deliberations. India
had hosted the 9th edition
of the P20 Summit.

Baran: Cong all set for
Kharge’s rally today
Nirmal Tiwari and

Baran
Mines Minister Pramod
Jain Bhaya on Sunday
reviewed the arrange-
ments for Congress pres-
ident Mallikarjun
Kharge’s public meeting
in Baran to be held today.
Kharge will launch the
party’s awareness cam-
paign for ERCP from
Baran in the presence of
in charge for Rajasthan
Sukhjinder Randhawa,
CM Ashok Gehlot, PCC
President GS Dotasra
and others. Bhaya took
stock of preparations. He
also criticised PM Modi
 BJP govt at the Centre
for not fulfilling their
promises over ERCP due
to political animosity
with Congress-led Ra-
jasthan government.
He recalled a similar
event in 2008 when ex-
National President of
Congress, Sonia Gandhi
had launched poll cam-
paign from Baran, lead-
ing to formation of a
Cong govt in Rajasthan.
ABOUT THE PRESTIGIOUS ERCP IN STATE
 The ERCP is a prestigious project, originally proposed
by the previous BJP dispensation, for a permanent
solution to irrigation and drinking water problems of
residents in 13 Raj districts.
 The project, which is estimated to cost more than Rs
40,000 cr, will help boost irrigation facilities on 2 lakh
hectares in the 13 districts.
 The Congress has claimed that PM Narendra Modi had
promised to grant national status to the ERCP during
election rallies in 2018.
Ashok Gehlot wanted to do politics on ERCP. This was
his failure. Despite repeated talks, no positive
cooperation was received from Raj. The project
couldn’t progress due to not getting an NOC from MP,
Raj govt’s stubbornness Gehlot’s insistence on
executing it contrary to rules. GS SHEKHAWAT, UNION MIN
Congress workers at the Block level of 13 ERCP affected districts, under the directions given by PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra in Jaipur on Sunday, protest against the
BJP government at the Centre for not declaring Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project as National Project by breaking empty earthen pots.
Pramod Jain Bhaya in Baran on Sunday, inspects venue of Cong’s rally
to be held today. PC Meghwal, Kailash Meena others were present.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla
addresses a press conference
in New Delhi on Sunday.
It is a clear government policy terrorism, be it of
caste or religion terrorism is terrorism, and no form
of terror will find any support in India. This is the
clear government policy.

This discussion is con-

It is being said that

It was Rajasthan from
where the trend of keep-
ing flock together in
‘Badabandi’ began in In-
dian politics.
In 1967 Assembly
polls, the Congress se-
cured 89 out of 184 seats.
Mohanlal Sukhadia
had been serving as CM-
for 12 years. In the Op-
position, 48 seats went to
Swatantra Party and 22 to
the Bharatiya Jana
Sangh. Socialist Party se-
cured 8 seats and the
Communist Party won 1
seat, with an additional
14 independent candi-
dates being elected.
That time, Opposition
resorted to ‘Badabandi’,
keeping its MLAs to-
gether at a place out of
Jaipur. In Delhi, the then
Congress President K.
Kamaraj advocated for
largest party in Raj to be
given the opportunity to
form the govt. Eventual-
ly, Guv Dr Sampoor-

to form the government.

ou can learn a
lot about a place
by tasting its
wines. Whether
it’s a chilled
glass of white or
a rich red or a
glass of bubbly to celebrate, a wine
lounge is the best place to taste the
region’s terroir.
As if the iconic Taj Mahal New
Delhi which is a home to multiple
restaurants weren’t perfect
enough, it’s now also home to the
picturesque wine lounge Captain‘s
Cellar . This beautifully designed
space is as warm and welcoming
as the General Manager of the ho-
tel Mr. Satyajeet Krishnan.
Captain‘s Cellar has been dis-
tinguishably designed with a
theme from every region where
wine is produced . Engineered tim-
ber flooring, vaulted brick ceilings
and cast iron details, thoughtfully
paired with a variety of furniture,
eclectic art, a patio and an informal
seating.
There is never a shortage of va-
riety to taste and the energetic
Manager Mr. Mukesh makes sure
to pick interesting producers with
a good back story for each.
A contemporary wine lounge,
inspired by traditional wine cel-
lars, Captain’s Cellar takes you on
a journey through the vivid land-
scape of flavours, wine rituals and
beyond.
As you enter through the majes-
tic contemporary glass door , on
your left is a cozy area designed in
the theme of the Mosel wine re-
gion which is named after the Mo-
sel River and is one of the 13 wine-
growing regions in southwest Ger-
many. Mosel vineyards are planted
along the Mosel river, which
boasts one of the most breathtak-
ing landscapes of steep, hillside
vineyards.
Their second seating area show-
cases Napa Valley’s Central Cali-
fornian old wine culture and ambi-
ence through the paintings and
traditional barrels depicting the
Napa life .
The heart of captain's cellar’s
theme is Rhone valley, a beautiful
and one of the largest red wine
producing region in Southeast of
France . Their third section of seat-
ing is based on that .
Then comes our own Indian
Wine RegionAkluj standing tall in
the wine world as an outstanding
performer. Their two hundred and
forty acre vineyard, nestled in the
region of Akluj is simply mind
blowing .
Captain‘s Cellar offers two wine
tasting rooms . The spotlight is on
the perfect pour integrating the art
and science of wine, small-plates,
cheese and meat platters, an exqui-
site experience in the Tasting
Rooms.
All of this, and more, in an invit-
ing ambience that feels relaxed,
homely and elegant.
They’ve named one of their tast-
ing room as the “New World Wine
“ where they have their own beau-
tiful tradition , taste and techniques
which can entice you into their
vast world of wine and they can
make sure you get the best tasting
experience there.
The other one is the “Old World
Wine “ to pay homage to the an-
cient times where producing wine
dated back to the 6th century BC.
At Captain’s Cellar they’ve
got handpicked wines at Enom-
atic and Coravin, in total 44 varie-
ties of wine are available to enjoy
by the glass. This is indeed an im-
pressive list, in terms of both qual-
ity and quantity in Delhi.
Enomatic wine dispensing ma-
chines ( finest ones from Italy
) are popular in bars, restaurants,
and wine tasting rooms because
they allow for the preservation of
wine for extended periods. The
machines use argon gas, which is
heavier than oxygen, to create a
protective layer on top of the wine
in the bottle. This prevents the
wine from coming into contact
with oxygen, which can cause
oxidation and spoilage.
In the Heritage wines segment
you’ll be able to taste from a col-
lection of more than hundred wine
labels from all over the world un-
der one roof.
At Captain‘s Cellar you’ll expe-
rience a rich wine tasting experi-
ence with detailed briefing which
shall enhance your knowledge
about wine .
While it's true that some wines
can have a creamy or buttery tex-
ture, it's not actually due to the
presence of dairy substances. In-
stead, it's often a result of certain
winemaking techniques and the
interaction between the wine and
oak barrels.
For example, wines that under-
go malolactic fermentation can
develop a creamy texture. During
this process, bacteria convert
harsher malic acid to softer lactic
acid, which can give the wine a
buttery character.Additionally, ag-
ing wines in oak barrels can impart
flavors and textures that contribute
to a creamy mouthfeel.
So, while wine can have simi-
larities to dairy in terms of texture
and aroma, it's important to note
that these characteristics are
achieved through winemaking
techniques rather than the presence
of actual dairy substances.
At Captain Cellar, the cuisine
comprises of small-plates, modern
style tapas, with a selection of
cheese meat platters, to compli-
ment their selection of wine.
Just four days old Captain‘s Cel-
lar is the coolest and the newest
wine lounge to unwind in the cap-
ital of India .

  • 4. pride of lions stalks its prey, then waits for it to become a lit- tle less vigilant and pounc- es for the final kill at the most opportune time! This is not a script of a National Geographic documentary but an apt metaphorical de- scription of how India de- featedPakistanintheirODI World Cup encounter on Saturday. In front of a mass of blue at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Team India continued their supremacy over their arch rivals, ex- tending their record to 8-0. India looks a formidable outlook, one that will be certainly dejected if it falls short of the World Cup! On a good batting track India invited the Pakistanis to bat. Shubman Gill was back on his IPLground and Ishan Kishan was dropped to accommodate him. The start by the Pakistani open- ers reminded one of the 2011 World Cup semifinal when Virender Sehwag hit Umar Gul for 5 fours in an over. While the destruction wasn’t that strong, they did hit4boundariesin5ballsin the first 2 overs. It was then that Bumrah showcased his skills that make him the leadingfastbowlerinacross formats. In his next 2 overs, Bumrah gave away just 1 run though Siraj was leak- ing runs galore. This control from one end didn’t allow Pakistan to get off to a galloping start and kept India in the hunt since the first wicket came in the 8th over when Siraj castled Abdullah Shafique leg before. In a few more overs, Imam-Ul Haq was also dismissed, caught be- hind off Hardik Pandya. Even after a brisk start, Pa- kistan averaged just 5 runs an over till Indian spinners took charge. Both Jadeja and Kuldeep too bowled with guile and discipline, keeping the duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Ri- zwan at bay. Although the star Paki- stani batsmen stitched a 98- run stand, they had a buck- et of dot balls as Indian spinners didn’t allow easy rotation of strike. While they bowled to a plan, as later revealed in post- match interviews, Rohit’s captaincy too is to be ap- preciated for field placings and bowling changes. Bringing back Siraj for a second spell led to the wicket of Babar Azam! The breakthrough made Rohit tighten his field placements for the new batsman, thus helping Kul- deepscalpthenext2batters in just one over. Sensing the moment, Rohit went for the kill and introduced Bumrah as there was a hint of re- verse swing as well. Bum- rah’s slower one bowled Rizwan and in the next over, he hit the top of Shad- ab Khan’s off stump with a beauty. Pitched on middle stump it straightened into a delivery that would have accounted for most batters around the world! With Pakistan in tatters, India never took the foot of the pedal and dismissed them for a paltry 191. With a small total, Pakistan needed early wickets along with a check on the scoring rate but Rohit’s first ball hit to the boundary was a statement that the Indian side wasn’t to be subdued chasing a low score. Shub- man too hit 4 boundaries for his 16 but got out cut- ting to point. Unlike the Pakistani batsmen, Indian batters did not allow the fall of wick- ets to dent their attacking intent. Rohit and Virat put on 56 runs together in the next 7 overs, putting India well in command. Rohit eventually got out at 86 but not before he had almost sealed the win. It was a brutal display of six hitting from him once again. He hit 6 sixes on the night to go with 6 fours. His aggres- sion rubbed on to Shreyas Iyer also who took India home with an unbeaten 53 that included 2 mammoth sixes as well. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL TOP TWEETS SPIRITUAL SPEAK Purity or impurity depends on oneself, no one can purify another. BUDDHA MUCH-HYPED RIVALRY With the much-hyped rivalry now out of the way, the Indian juggernaut now moves to Pune to take on Bangladesh after a 5-day rest. The comprehensive win against Pakistan has put India at the top of the points table since it has the best run rate of all teams. However, Team India will be well aware that it cannot slacken in the coming games and the intensity has to grow from strength to strength. Adage suggests “when it comes to luck, you make your own” and things do look rosy at the moment in the way Indian lions are roaring. While it does seem it won’t be an easy task to beat them, caution and due diligence are a necessity if they wish to lift the World Cup! If India’s request comes through, it would further boost the country’s image. It is fair to say that there has been a drastic improve- ment in India’s infrastructure, including in sporting venues. Roads, airports and hotels in different cities are all well equipped to host the mega sporting event and there is no better proof of India’s capability than the successful G-20 summit. Expansion of accom- modation capacity, effective coordination of different venues will still be needed. Geo-political factors, like the ones witnessed before the Qatar Olympics, will require diplomatic handling and then will come the need to mobilize public support. The improvement in infrastructure in different cit- ies is taking place almost at a competitive pace. Choosing one city to host the Games may not be easy but Ahmedabad seems to have already emerged as the front-runner. I rime Minister Narendra Modi and Presi- dent and President Ranil Wickremesinghe inaugurated a ferry service between Naga- pattinam in Tamil Nadu and Kankesanthurai in Sri Lanka to restart the sea link after a gap of 40 years. PM Narendra Modi said the connectivity will bring the two countries and its people closer. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar described the re- sumption of ferry service as a strategic initiative and “a truly big step for boosting people-to-people contact”. In the backdrop of this historic step, how- ever, looms the ominous shadow of China which is bent on pouring cold water on the warm ties between India and Sri Lanka by sending a Chinese survey/spy ship dock in its southern port of Hambantota. The first docking took place in Au- gust 2022 despite concerns by India and the United States. India had ex- plicitly asked Co- lombo not to allow the Chinese vessel as it posed threat to India’s security in- terests but Yuan Wang 5 was permit- ted to enter the deep sea port on the pre- text that it was refueling and taking supplies. Fourteen months later China is back to its suspi- cious ways in the Indian Ocean. Its research vessel Shi Yan 6 is expected to moor in Hambantota this month despite objections by India.Another ship Hai Yang 24 Hao is already docked at the port. President Wickremesinghe has assured India that it will safeguard India’s security and strategic inter- ests. For India the regular dockings of Chinese sur- vey ships in its backyard pose a major security threat which cannot be ignored even after President Wickremesinghe’s assurance to Modi. Whether it’s a chilled glass of white or a rich red or a glass of bubbly to celebrate, a wine lounge is the best place to taste the region’s terroir. As if the iconic Taj Mahal New Delhi which is a home to multiple restaurants weren’t perfect enough, it’s now also home to the picturesque wine lounge Captain‘s Cellar . This beautifully designed space is as warm and welcoming as the General Manager of the ho- tel Mr. Satyajeet Krishnan. Captain‘s Cellar has been dis- tinguishably designed with a theme from every region where wine is produced . Engineered tim- ber flooring, vaulted brick ceilings and cast iron details, thoughtfully paired with a variety of furniture, eclectic art, a patio and an informal seating. There is never a shortage of va- riety to taste and the energetic Manager Mr. Mukesh makes sure to pick interesting producers with a good back story for each. A contemporary wine lounge, inspired by traditional wine cel- lars, Captain’s Cellar takes you on a journey through the vivid land- scape of flavours, wine rituals and beyond. As you enter through the majes- tic contemporary glass door , on your left is a cozy area designed in the theme of the Mosel wine re- gion which is named after the Mo- sel River and is one of the 13 wine- growing regions in southwest Ger- many. Mosel vineyards are planted along the Mosel river, which boasts one of the most breathtak- ing landscapes of steep, hillside vineyards. Their second seating area show- cases Napa Valley’s Central Cali- fornian old wine culture and ambi- ence through the paintings and traditional barrels depicting the Napa life . The heart of captain's cellar’s theme is Rhone valley, a beautiful and one of the largest red wine producing region in Southeast of France . Their third section of seat- ing is based on that . Then comes our own Indian Wine RegionAkluj standing tall in the wine world as an outstanding performer. Their two hundred and forty acre vineyard, nestled in the region of Akluj is simply mind blowing . Captain‘s Cellar offers two wine tasting rooms . The spotlight is on the perfect pour integrating the art and science of wine, small-plates, cheese and meat platters, an exqui- site experience in the Tasting Rooms. All of this, and more, in an invit- ing ambience that feels relaxed, homely and elegant. They’ve named one of their tast- ing room as the “New World Wine “ where they have their own beau- tiful tradition , taste and techniques which can entice you into their vast world of wine and they can make sure you get the best tasting experience there. The other one is the “Old World Wine “ to pay homage to the an- cient times where producing wine dated back to the 6th century BC. At Captain’s Cellar they’ve got handpicked wines at Enom- atic and Coravin, in total 44 varie- ties of wine are available to enjoy by the glass. This is indeed an im- pressive list, in terms of both qual- ity and quantity in Delhi. Enomatic wine dispensing ma- chines ( finest ones from Italy ) are popular in bars, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms because they allow for the preservation of wine for extended periods. The machines use argon gas, which is heavier than oxygen, to create a protective layer on top of the wine in the bottle. This prevents the wine from coming into contact with oxygen, which can cause oxidation and spoilage. In the Heritage wines segment you’ll be able to taste from a col- lection of more than hundred wine labels from all over the world un- der one roof. At Captain‘s Cellar you’ll expe- rience a rich wine tasting experi- ence with detailed briefing which shall enhance your knowledge about wine . While it's true that some wines can have a creamy or buttery tex- ture, it's not actually due to the presence of dairy substances. In- stead, it's often a result of certain winemaking techniques and the interaction between the wine and oak barrels. For example, wines that under- go malolactic fermentation can develop a creamy texture. During this process, bacteria convert harsher malic acid to softer lactic acid, which can give the wine a buttery character.Additionally, ag- ing wines in oak barrels can impart flavors and textures that contribute to a creamy mouthfeel. So, while wine can have simi- larities to dairy in terms of texture and aroma, it's important to note that these characteristics are achieved through winemaking techniques rather than the presence of actual dairy substances. At Captain Cellar, the cuisine comprises of small-plates, modern style tapas, with a selection of cheese meat platters, to compli- ment their selection of wine.
