How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect European Society
The industrial revolution was when changes in agriculture, manufacturing, work ethics,
transportation and technology became more advanced. The revolution made social economics and
culture prosper. This spread during the 18th and 19th century in Europe. Europe was the first place
to start this revolution because it had the resources to advance technology and it was politically
stable. Most people made a living in small towns and were farmers. A large amount of people at the
time were poor, and malnourished, disease was also a common issue to encounter. The European
industrial revolutionchanged this and nearly every aspect of daily life was impacted in some way.
The revolution was so successful that it influenced another one.
For the first time in history, the living standards of the masses of ordinary people have begun to
undergo sustained growth. ... Nothing remotely like this economic behavior has happened before.
This means that the european industrial revolution brought on this change of population in many
areas. Most places grew and expanded with the amount of people that prospered in it. The part
about Nothing remotely like this economic behavior has happened before , means that the european
industrial revolution was the start and the cause of waves of migration.
Population grew because death rates decreased and birth rates increased. Town s rural industries
grew along with trade. The economy called for more people to fill in jobs such as harvesters.

The Rises Of Hitler s Rise To The Rise Of Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler began his rise to power at the end of World War One. He rose on the wave of
brokenness that enveloped the German population after the demoralizing loss of the Great War.
He was charismatic and knew how to woo people to his side. He also read the German culture and
knew how to inflame their national pride. But even with all of his great leadership gifts, the man
did not rise to power alone. With him, he gathered malcontents and people who hated their
circumstances and formed them into formidable forces. Two of the groups that catapulted him into
unassailability were the SA and the SS. These groups guaranteed that Hitler would gain and hold
power for a very long time.
The SA, or otherwise known as Sturmabteilung, began as the National Socialist German Workers
Partys (NSDAP) security branch. The SA was mainly made up of street fighters and ex soldiers,
The men of the SA protected Nazi meetings. They also broke up a lot of rival political group
meetings and harassed the Nazi s opponents. By September the 1921, Hitler had successfully
made the SA into a private army just for him. He then chose the name Sturmabteilung or (
Stormtroops ) and had them clothed in uniforms styled after the military uniforms. So the party
organizers got a large shipment of very cheap army brown shirts, which would eventually become
distinctive uniforms of the SA. The SA became a very important tool for Hitler s rise to power.
Until the summer of 1934, the SA was the most feared and the

The Reduction Of Weight Of Heavy Vehicles
Introduction
The need for reduction in weight of heavy vehicles is increasing day after day. Reduction of weight
results in reduced fuel consumption which results in a decrease in the emission of greenhouse gas.
For reducing the weight, higher strength to weight ratio steels would be required. Not only is a
high strength, but the steel also requires to be adequately formable and greater energy absorption
capacity. Good formability is essential for designing vehicle components with complex shapes.
Dual phase (DP) steels are quite promising material for these purposes. DP steels can already
achieve strength in the range of 500 1200 MPa with a total elongation of 15 25 %. Dual phase
steels contain more than 1% alloying element among which major alloying elements are C, Si, Mn,
and there are some other alloying elements also.
Among different grades of Dual phase steels, the primary concern here is DP600 steels. A general
chemical composition of DP 600 steel is tabulated in Table 1 below.

The Forbidden City Essay
The Hall of Supreme Harmony in The Forbidden City
Wood has been widely used in numerous applications from early ages to present. Wood is an very
important material for constructions.
Talking about wood, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Forbidden City.
The Forbidden City is a great masterpiece in the world, representing Chinese people s wisdom and
hard work. It s also the largest and the most complete existing wooden building in the world. The
Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace where include 980 buildings located in the center
of Beijing, China. In order to incarnate the supremacy of imperial power, Chinese imperial
architecture often adopt the layout of an axial symmetry, with the buildings on the central axis tall

thoroughly mixed together, quality brown sugar, whisked egg white and the strained liquid from
sticky rice soup are added and a new turn of mixing begins. The resultant material is then used for
the earthen buildings. In southeast China s Fujian Province, Hakkas use this metnod to build large

What Role Did The Art Of Sculpture Play In Romanesque Church
The name Hagia Sophia actually means Holy Wisdom . Hagia Sophia was built in Istanbul
which was formerly known as Constantinople. Hagia Sophia was built over 1400 years ago in
537 BC by Emperor Justinian I. Hagia Sophia was built to replace the old church that was torched
and burned down. Hagia Sophia was a Greek Orthodox Church. The church incorporates Christian
beliefs with murals of Jesus Christs but also hanging from the ceiling are Islamic writings. The
way the structural lighting of church was designed, it creates a halo type effect giving a heavenly
feel. The sunlight reflects off of glass and gold which lightens the famous Hagia Sophia dome.
Hagia Sophia remained a church until 1453 when the Turks converted the church into a mosque. 2.

In the sense that Romanesque churches lacked light, the gothic style churches required much more
lighting where it would feel as if the lighting was coming from the heavens above. In addition to,
the gothic style incorporated less heavy walls but instead, the use of lighter fly buttresses used to
support church or cathedral walls. The flying buttresses were of double use. They provided
structural support but incorporated another form art found amongst a lot of gothic style cathedrals.
Gothic style also replaced the hefty walls of the Romanesque art by using columns that were much
thinner. Gothic style also introduced the Rose Windows as seen on many gothic cathedrals. Rose
windows were just stain classes that form massive, colorful windows seen in the front of many
gothic cathedrals and churches. The gothic style often had many more naturalistic sculptures in
comparison to the Romanesque art style. The sculptures decorated the walls of cathedrals in
massive numbers. The idea of the gothic style was to create a less heavy atmosphere in the sense of

Factors That Led To The Collapse Of The Mayan Civilization
The Maya civilization was one of the most successful civilizations of its time. The Mayans were
one of the most dominant civilizations in Mesoamerica, located in tropic lowlands in what is now
known as Guatemala. The Mayans were very religious, as they worshipped gods that were related
to nature, such as a rain god and a sun god. They were an agricultural society that mostly relied on
trade in order to get their resources. Mayans were often seen as advanced compared to other
European civilizations with their arts, writing, agricultural techniques, and their architecture. Even
though the Maya civilizationwas very successful, it eventually collapsed. Historians often debate
about how such an advanced civilization could have collapsed. Although there were many factors
that contributed to the collapse of the Mayan, the three that contributed the most were the
collapsing social structure, a decrease in resources, and as well as drought.
One factor that contributed to the Maya Collapse was the fact that their once strong social class
was beginning to fall. The Maya social class was made up of nobles, farmers and slaves. Over
time, this system started to become unorganized. In his article, Maya Collapse: Recent Insight on
the Classic Maya Collapse, Joel Palka describes that Mayan cities either fell or thrived due to the
way their politics and religion were handled. The cities that thrived either negotiated their power or
had it distributed equally through calendar cycles. The

Analysis Of The Windhover By Gerard Manley Hopkins
There is no doubt many metaphorical meanings that critics can take from the The Windhover by
Gerard Manley Hopkins. With that in mind, I will focus on finding the correct linguistic
interpretation of the poem. In the past, authors of scholarly articles of the poem have seemed to
downplay the self reflective portion of the poem where Hopkins refers to his own hidden heart.
There has also been much disagreement over the sequence dapple dawn drawn, and multitudes
of debates on the interpretation of here/ Buckle! The intention of this explication is to clarify
and hopefully provide a conclusion of these disparities. To begin, the breaking of the word
kingdom between line 1 and 2 is significant. The falcon is both morning s minion and king. If the
break was following the complete word kingdom there would have been less exaltation of the
falcon. Hopkins set the glory of the bird up by using the dynamic verb caught, implying
spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane verb like view or see. The division of
the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous interpretations of the first two lines. The first
interpretation is that the falcon is the kingdom, and the other being that the falcon is the
dauphin of the dom(e) of daylight, the sky (Rudanko 176). The double interpretation of lines 1
through 2 created a more complete characterization of the falcon and effectively uses
compression to contain as much meaning as possible. For the dapple dawn drawn sequence,
Rudanko proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and his
own, which, are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2) The falcon is
sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is attracted by the dawn. (4) The
dappled falcon is sketched in silhouette against the dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately
following this sequence the falcon is riding. Therefore, it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate
interpretations of the sequence since the dappling of the bird would be imperceptible if he were to
appear as a silhouette and that if the dawn is dappled there would be enough light in the rest of the
sky to illuminate the bird enough for it to not just

Conquest Of Australia
Since the age of long established kingdoms, the strong communities would conquer weaker nations
and rule over them with an iron fist. The conquerors would often suppress the original inhabitants
of the land, by forcing them into slavery, harsh treatment and even, taking of children and young
girls for pleasure. The conquered residents would live in fear, oppression, and ill treatment in their
ancestral land. The modern era, brought about a different mode of the conquering of kingdoms,
with the same devastating effects of inhumane treatment and suffering of the indigenous persons.
Accordingly, over 90% of the global nations are victims of the colonization, and likewise, Australia
did not escape the domination. The conquest of Australia brought... Show more content on

The role of engineers is to improve the quality of the lives of the people, by the formulation of
technical solutions to issues facing the society. Although the prevalence of the engineering works
with physical artifacts, the majority of the work lies within the intellectual domain. Further,
engineers offer technical possibilities, which work to optimize the social, environmental
consequences and opportunities to the society. The hallmark of a professional engineer is to apply
and make informed, sustainable and responsible decisions. Engineers ought to uphold and own the
impositions and the consequences within considerable ethical limits of the possibilities produced.
Therefore, prerequisite understanding of what the community has encountered in the past and
continued to endure formulates the basics within which an individual should approach particular
instances. The history of the treatment of aboriginals in Australia expresses the rationale and the
manner in which an engineer should interact and make decisions about the indigenous people.
Engineers should have the ability to discern the particular setting of the people, before the
imposition of ideas and proposals to the local communities, and principally, the aboriginals.
Engineers ought to understand the implications of their actions and impactions, as well as aim to
rectify the problems and issues. Engineers should build on their critical competencies of
comprehension, conceptually based understanding, and discernment as well as knowledge. The
vital skills of engineers often allude to the theoretical knowledge on how engineers ought to
conduct the affairs. However, engineers should have the ability to understand the social settings
about the issues which people have faced, and may continue to impact in the

Essay on Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany, in 1770. He came from a family of
musicians. His father and grandfather worked for the Electors of Cologne. The grandfather,
Lodewyk van Beethoven came from Mechelen, Belgium and joined the court orchestra in Bonn
as a bass player. He eventually became the conductor. His son Johann was a professional tenor at
the court in Bonn and also played piano and violin. As Beethoven began to exhibited his
outstanding musical talent at a young age, his father pushed for him to become a child prodigy.
Johann gradually gave up when Beethoven s recitals were only marginally successful. Beethoven s
mother then died when he was in his late teens. His mother s death drove his father to become an

By this time Beethoven was ready for the almightiest risk of his life ( Simpson 55). He was at the
stage in his life where he knew what risks he could and could not take. For years Beethoven had

movement to his ninth symphony he was very uncertain as to how to introduce the voice. ... there
are reports of him striding up and down his room trying to solve this problem ( Pike 70).
Although some of the ideas used in the Ninth Symphony appear in sketches of 1817 18,
Beethoven only began concentrated work on the score in 1822. It occupied him throughout 1823,
and he completed it in February 1824. The first performance took place at the Karntnerthor
Theater in Vienna on May 7, 1824. Beethoven stood there completely deaf beating time and
turning pages of his score, but the real conduction was done by Michael Umlauf. The orchestra
leader was Schuppanigh. The dedication was to King Frederick William III of Prussia.( Steinberg

The Lost City Radio By Daniel Alarcon
Lost City Radio Essay The book I am reading is titled The Lost City Radio by Daniel AlarcГіn. He
is a Peruvian American writer from Lima, Peru, but he was raised in the United States. This author
s book was published in 2007 and was his debut book. The central idea of this book reveals the
effects of war on its characters and ultimately the effects of war on communities and countries on
the whole. As the author sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the main characters
encounters, via flashbacks, their war induced flaws are unmasked; the people around them are
affected as well, infected with fear, memory loss, and indifference to one another s plight. There is
something very complicated about the effects of war and AlarcГіn exposes the problems to help
readers think about the questions and solutions, if they choose. I was able to pinpoint two
characters flaws categorically; Norma and Victor both exhibit issues with identity and dislocation
because of the war. Norma is a withdrawn character, and as her name suggests, normal. She is not
enthusiastic or emotionless on any particular issue, nor does she have any individual interests in
daily life, she stays middle ground. She is a loner with no friends, no children, no pets, but most of
all no husband, which is the crust of her dissociative existence. Norma lost her husband, Rey, in the
unnamed war, of the unnamed country, in the unnamed city, and she is lost without him. Even after
ten years has passed, she is still

Why Do Paper Towel Absorb The Most Water
AIM: To determine which brand of 3 ply paper towel will absorb the most water
HYPOTHESIS: Brands with thicker paper towels will absorb more water as there are more
molecules present that are the key to absorbency in paper towels
INTRODUCTION:
The key to absorbency in paper towels are the fibers called cellulose molecules which are big
molecules that consist of lots of tiny sugar molecules chained together. When a paper towel
becomes wet, the water molecules rush in and cling onto the cellulose fibers which is why it is
able to absorb the water. Therefore most of the time, thicker the paper towels means there will be
more fibers resulting in more water absorbed.

The results in the table show that the paper towels from the brand Kleenex was able to absorb the
most water as it was the thickess, therefere proving my hypothesis, thicker paper towels will
absorb more water, correct. The results also showed that different paper towels absorb different
amounts of water, some more and some less.
The fibers that make up the paper towel are what enables the towel itself to absorb water. The
more fibers, the more water is absorbed which is why Kleenex was the most successful paper
towel brand in this experiment as it was more thick and held more fibers.
There weren t many weaknesses identified in the experiment design but there were a few
disadvantages of doing this experiment, the main one being that whlist the paper towel was
removed from the beaker using our fingers. This may of slightly affected the results as some of
the water may of fell back into the beaker or were stuck to our fingers. To avoid this, tongs should
be used instead.
An unforeseen problem that arouse during the experiment was that we could not measure anything
beneath 100ml with the 500ml beaker so we had to improvise and use a measuring cynliner which
solved the problem but also affected the results as some of the water could ve remained

Othello Figurative Language
The use of figurative language ensures a text is dynamic To be honest and truthful are traits
many aspire to have, yet often our reality is clouded by the appearances put up around us.
William Shakespeare aptly displays this in his words: we know what we are, but know not what
we may be . In his play Othello, Shakespeare uses figurative language to ensure his play is
dynamic. Shakespeare skilfully employs the use of imagery, through the stark contrast between
light and dark to construct a dynamic text that deals with the idea of good and evil though the
appearance and reality of his characters. Light and dark imagery is first seen in the play through the
main character of Othello. Shakespeare utilizes bold metaphors such as the strong allusions... Show

As his course of action is decided, Othello s verdict to murder Desdemona is deemed as hell and
night must bring this monstrous birth to the world s light while the act of the murder is
described as to put out the light . The two parallels that Shakespeare draws from these two
contradictory lines is evident in their irony to the audience. We are able to see the irony in the
way Othello wishes to bring Desdemona s alleged infidelity to light and to the truth by putting it
(her) out. This ironic use of opposing light and dark imagery allows us as the audience to see the
truth of Othello and Desdemona s situation, how Othello has created his own reality and is
adamant in bringing to life. Shakespeare also continues with his figurative language in the
monstrous birth , we are able to once again see the sardonic use of irony as we know that Othello
is the true monster in his violent and unforgiving decision to kill Desdemona, the woman he
loves. Shakespeare once again conveys the idea of reality and appearance when Othello commits
to the deed and murders Desdemona. Methinks it should be now a huge eclipse of sun and moon
Othello says as he watches his beloved die beneath him. A huge eclipse is a period of complete
darkness that envelops all light and this reflects the way that Othello now feels after bringing the
truth to light,

Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all . Alfred Lord Tennyson s quote from
his poem In Memoriam A.H.H. perfectly encapsulates A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled

Afghanistan, the intense character development of Mariam, and compelling themes of love and loss.
When reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, one would feel a sort of culture shock due to the

There was enthusiastic nodding at this. It did not escape Mariam that no mention was made of
her half sisters Saideh or Naheed both her age, both students in the Mehri School in Heart, both

for them (44 Hosseini). After Mariam s mother s death, her father, Jalil, immediately gives away
Mariam to a popular shoemaker of Kabul, Rasheed. She is extremely angry with her father s
decision because her half sisters are getting a quality education and better lives while she is
forced to commit to a man she barely knows at the age of 15. Secondly, a man having multiple
wives was extremely common. Both Jalil and Rasheed both had at least two wives. Laila marrying
Rasheed affected Mariam quite a lot and turned her extraordinarily hostile towards Laila.

How Is Jerry Alike
I think Jerry, the main character, needs friends but is adventurous because he wants respect, he
is lonely, and above all he is awkward. In this realistic fiction book by Doris Lessing, the main
character Jerry, goes to a beach and he meets some boys that go through an underwater tunnel,
and he wants to go too. In the book, it says that Jerry s mom is a widow so he has no dad. This
could make him want friends even more than other people because he doesn t have a dad to play
catch with or something. I think that s why that Jerry wants to make friends with the big boys,
who were the other kids on the beach. The first piece of evidence is To be with them, of them,
was a craving that filled his whole body. This supports my claim that Jerry is lonely because this
piece of evidence means that Jerry doesn t just need friends, he also wants friends. This is
important because in order to have friends, you need to want friends (although exceptions exist
(me)). Another piece of evidence shows that Jerry is awkward on page 5, where it says and now, in
a panic of failure, he yelled up, in English, Look at me! Look! and he began splashing and kicking

. Seems strange to me to think of any one part of the brain functioning independently of any of the
other parts of the brain. I was also interested in the statement about rational decisions taking longer

Emotional Intelligence And Leadership Development
Emotional Intelligence
A leader s success hinges on the degree of emotional intelligence (EI) the individual possesses.
The ability to manage one s emotions and correctly identify another s emotions is a critical skill all
leaders must have. Leaders of teams must have the capacity to control their emotions during times
of stress; and, have the ability to listen to and empathize with others to ensure employee
satisfaction and engagement. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate this writer s degree of EI,
identify opportunities and strategies for improvement; and, to demonstrate skill when collaborating
with other leaders who exhibit varying levels of EI.
Results and Strategies
According to Mindtools Ltd. (1996 2016), this writer has a high degree of emotional intelligence.
The level of EI relates to many years of learning and gathering of skills required to be an effective
leader. This writer has had the opportunity to work with mentors who provided feedback to assist
with the development of leadership skills and EI. According to Sadri (2012), an important aspect
of leadership development is cultivating the strategies required to improve one s degree of EI.
Age is a factor in the level of EI due to life experiences (Sliter, Chen, Withrow, Sliter, 2013).
Ultimately, the leader must have the self awareness and motivation to give and receive the
feedback required, to hone continually one s ability to express oneself in a positive manner. Other
aspects of EI are

scientists to focus on the ecological implication of El Nino on different organisms and how El
Nino is effecting these organisms. This was a reason why many studies were done to have a full
understanding of what really El Nino is? Also, few of these studies were focused on how to
measure the impact of these processes on genetic diversity in an ecosystem. there was one study
that mainly focused on the genetic impacts of El Nino on the marine Iguanain the Galapagos
islands. Here in this review, the first portion was to have a full understanding of El Nino and how

Then the second part was to know the history, major facts, and a background about Marine
Iguanas. The last and the main part was the impacts of El Nino on the marine Iguanas in the
Galapagos Islands. Marine Iguanas are ectothermic animals that means they depend mainly on
outside temperature to regulate their body temperature. Since Marine Iguana are Ectothermic
made it a very special species to test on how El Nino effect other organisms. Marine Iguanas are
dramatically effected by El Nino due to the severity of the event. The body size of the marine
Iguana was a main factor because the bigger the body the better the survival rate. The body size
is effected by the change of temperature, the higher the temperature the bigger the body size and it
can increase Marine Iguanas Population, and this was another prove that El Nino effects Marine
Iguana genetically. After all is that El Nino events have a big impact of other organisms and it was
proven by the marine Iguanas because their bodies are very sensitive to

Corruption In Tammany Hall Scandal, By Joe Mockler
My fellow Americans, America is falling apart right in front of our eyes. The American way of
life is deteriorating and we may never recover. The working class of America is being treated
poorly, and it continues to become worse. Massive businesses dominate every aspect of the
economy, from light bulbs to tobacco. To add to that, politicians have become corrupt and are
working for themselves, not for the greater good of society. As a populist member, I, Joe
Mockler, will combat these monstrosities and bring back the jocular American way of life. The
backbone of America, the workers, are being treated appallingly. The working class of America
creates the foundation for our nation. It is key to treat the working people of this nation with... Show

Political corruption causes instability in the government, damages the economy, depletes the nation
s wealth, and a multitude of other horrid implements. Even the president, Ulysses S. Grant, became
corrupt during his presidency. In 1872, the Pacific Union Railroad went bankrupt, after being
supplied money by the federal government. So, to try and escape bankruptcy, they offered
politicians and even the president, Ulysses S. Grant, shares of their stock in exchange for more
funding. Furthermore, many politicians that were offered accepted the bribe, continuing corruption
in the United States. Another famous example is the Tammany Hall Scandal. William Tweed
turned Tammany Hall, in New York City, into a political machine. Then, he used it to facilitate
widespread corruption, and most importantly, to rob New York of almost $100 million. One
particular example of corruption occurred during election day when the Republican party hired
Armed U.S Marshals to stand outside of the polls to improve their prospects. The guards would
stop Democrats from voting for their own party, denying their fifteenth amendment rights. The
Populist strives to end political corruption and create a more stable political environment for
future generations. America has entered a dark, depressing age where workers are mistreated,
massive businesses drown other businesses, and widespread corruption runs rampant on the local,
state, and federal level. But there is hope for our broken, fragmented nation. The populist party
fights to restore America to its former greatness and will fight for what is right and what is
needed. I implore you to vote for the Populist party to help create a prosperous future and a better

Gilded Age Dbq
The time period largely known as the Gilded Age was centered around big business which caused
sharp economic and social class divisions as well as political corruption that led Americans to
progressive reform. From the ashes of the Civil War, a second industrial revolution was born which
ushered in new innovations and technological advances that drastically changed American life. As a
result, business became powerful and controlling on the economy, created difficult working
conditions, and influenced politics through manipulation and corruption. Americans poured into the
country at a outstanding rate during the Gilded Age, creating a supply of workers for the various
jobs opportunities all over the country. The railroad was one of the biggest innovations in the late
19th century. This allowed for goods to be transported cheaply and efficiently across the country on

The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven
In the book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight In Heaven written by Sherman Alexie, the
reader follows a short story of an Indian man who finds himself in fiery fights with his girlfriend.

relationships in the past between White people and Native Americans has damaged how he lives
his everyday life. At the very beginning of the story, the girlfriend tells the Narrator I don t trust

Foot odor is a disease which is scientifically known as bromhidrosis sweaty and smelly feet.
While neither painful nor contagious, foot odor causes unmitigated social suffering to those
who are burdened with it. Under normal conditions each of your feet produces half a pint of
sweat by means by means of some 20,000 sweat glands. In most people, this perspiration
evaporates. In people with bromhidrosis, however , more sweat is produced, and it doesn t
evaporate as easily, which will result to odoriferous feet. In the presence of bacteria, these sweaty
secretions break down, generating a foul smell . Obviously washing away the bacteria and drying

Our main purpose is to understand the Security challenges faced in using DNS and better practices
to reduce those.
I.INTRODUCTION
DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. The
process is to turn a website like google.com into an machine readable address like 8.8.8.8 and
8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use for identification on the network. In fact Google Public DNS
is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the
computers or hosts on the internet use IP Address to establish a connection with site they are
need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at
each decimal point. We just use a DNS server and appropriate name servers and access the sites
with specific names. And this DNS server manages a massive database which maps the domain
names to those IP Addresses.
On a short note, DNS server search for the domain name as per the User Request. This process is
named as DNS name Resolution and this means DNS servers converts the domain name to IP
address. As mentioned earlier, google.com has IP address of 8.8.8.8 which you enter directly into
browser will give you the Google s page. Web site s IP addresses are dynamic and some sites use
many IP s with only one Domain name.Without DNS servers, Internet access would be a lot tougher.
II.DETAILED WORKING OF DNS:

Flannery O Conner s Analysis: A Good Man is Hard To Find A Displaced Person
Through her assortment of unpalatable characters and violent actions,
O Connor tries to show grace at work in the world. According to her beliefs Christ, the Incarnate
Son of God, has shown that God so loved the world that He became man Himself. Yet this God is
not accepted by men, so they have to be shocked into a recognition of their need for Him and the
salvation He offers. (MAYER, 1976) In this analysis I will explain how O conner uses the two
stories A Good Man is Hard To FindA Displaced Person to open the eyes of her readers about God
and his salvation as Mayer said above. The body of works of Ms. Flannery O Conner is absolutely

The Grandmother displays the proper image of a southern Christian woman in the presence of
other people. Her clothing, her perfection, and her attitude are perceived as truly religious. In
reality, the grandmother is exceedingly selfish and corrupt morally. She preaches and gives
sermons throughout the story yet in the face of danger she thinks only of herself. O Conner
writes ...the grandmother had on a navy blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on
the brim and a navy blue dress with a small white dot in the print. Her collar and cuffs were white
organdy trimmed with lace, and at her neckline, she pinned a purple spray of cloth violets
containing a sachet. In case of an accident, anyone seeing her dead on the highway would know
at once that she was a lady (O Conner, 2007). She is obviously over dressed for a road trip, again
it pin points the grandmother s obsession with materials. Grandmother uses gender roles, you
wouldn t shoot a lady would you, (O Conner, 2007) and religious images to try to save herself.
She preaches and prays to the Misfit as if he is Jesus, Jesus...you ve got good blood, Jesus you
ought not to shoot a lady (O Conner, 2007). She radiates an aura of holiness at the same time
sounding self serving. Towards the end of the story the characters seemed to realize their upcoming
fate. This realization for their upcoming fate made the characters, especially the grandma; renounce

when he set Bridget s body afire, he did not think that he was actually burning his wife s body but
rather that of a changeling of a fairy that had taken possession of her. Using the resources and
methodologies of cultural anthropology, cultural history, and folklore studies, Angela Bourke

Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc
Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in
regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines
alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem,
Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature
and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can
truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance
with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc
seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont
Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful
but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and
then asks how that influences the creative human mind.
Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and
bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also
receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by
memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one
of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. Wordsworth

The Basic Pistol Qualification Course
1. The basic pistol qualification course is not an accurate indication of firearms proficiency for the
experienced shooter. The basic pistol qualification course has to be repeated if members allow their
qualification to lapse. Qualifying on the basic pistol course repeatedly is a time consuming and
costly evolution. The basic pistol qualification should be removed from the firearms re qualification
standard.
2. Coast Guard policy currently requires that any pistol qualified members who have allowed
their qualification to lapse, or failed to re qualify on Practical Pistol Course (PPC), must re
qualify on the basic pistol course before attempting to qualify on the PPC course. A lapse of
qualification is identified as not qualifying on the PPC course within 365 days of previous
qualification. Failure to qualify on the Sig Saur P226DAK service pistol may be attributed to
many factors. Members can fail to qualify for a number of reasons: Lack of familiarization with the
weapon system due to limited opportunities to practice with the P226DAK is the leading factor.
Many members will only fire with this weapons system during biannual weapons qualification.
Weapon costs and rental availability at gunshops and shooting ranges in the members area make
more practice and familiarity difficult at best, and nonexistent at worst. Members may also fail to
qualify on the PPC course due to the many steps of the PPC course, and again, lack of practice in
the various steps of the

Immigrants In The Philippines
Today, Filipinos represent the 4th largest immigrant group in the United States by country of origin,
after Mexico, India and China (Alchin, 2017). The Filipinos started immigrating to the United
States for various reasons such as political and poverty. They were able to through trading ships and
after the Spanish American War. Once here, they faced prejudice and discrimination, including in
our own state, Washington.
The first wave of immigrants from the Philippines to America was during the period when the
country was under Spanish rule and formed part of the Spanish East Indies. People were
migrating through the Spanish trading ships that were called Manila Galleons , these ran across
the Pacific Ocean from Manila to the port of Acapulco. The ships carried things like silk, perfume,
spices, and other goods from China to Mexico and California. In California seamen who had been
forced to work for the Spanish, would migrate to North America. In 1763, Filipinos made their first
permanent settlement in Louisiana, these Filipinos were called Manila Men (Alchin, 2017).
Another wave was impacted by the Spanish American War. The Philippines came under the control
of the United States of America in 1898 following the Spanish American War which lasted three
and a half months on April 25, 1898 to August 12, 1898. The 1899 Treaty of Paris ended this war
where Spain sold the Philippine Islands to the United States for $20,000,000 (Alchin, 2017). After

Criticism Of Piecemeal Social Engineering
the state from the ground up. It is radical. Piecemeal social engineering, however, does not have
the same idealized society as the end point, or at least, sees it as something in the far distance.
Piecemeal is far less risky, for several reasons that Popper points out in his critique. Firstly,
because piecemeal social engineering looks at solving the most urgent evils of society, and not
just trying to get rid of all of them, with the goal of creating a heaven on earth, it is a method that
can be applied to at any moment (Popper 148). Small changes that improve happiness is much
easier to do than trying to fully eliminate suffering. An example of this type of improvement
would be call centers for parents with sick children. This would allow the parents to call and get
support from a registered nurse or doctor, without having to wait in long lines at the hospital, or
adding to those long lines. Piecemeal is about solving issues that are occurring right now, and by
doing that, is bettering society. This also makes this method faster that utopian, which takes
generations for the blueprint to be seen though, instead of smaller aspects being fixed right away.
There are many other issues that are connected to the long timeframe of utopian social engineering
takes. Popper points out that making a heaven on earth is not something that can be done in one or
more generations. The leader who starts the plan, will not be the same one there when the state
finally reaches the final

Bluffing by Gail Helgason and The Prospector s Trail by...
Relationships can have positive and negative outcomes, one has to overcome and improve and
change to succeed in a positive relationship. As Richard M. Devos once said Money cannot buy
peace of mind. It cannot heal ruptured relationships, or build meaning into a life that has none. In
the short story Bluffing by Gail Helgason money and communication show the importance of a
successful relationship in Liam s and Gabriella s life. On the other hand in the short storyThe
Prospectors Trail by Cathy Jewison money and communication were one of the conflicts
throughout. The thesis of this essay is one should put their own opinions and views before others.
In The short story Bluffing one of the problems is that Jennifer is fairly demanding of her own
wants and needs about starting a new life in Yellowknife which can be shown by when she is in
the tent talking to Norman as she says I give it six weeks to labour day (Jewison 24). This
quotation emphasis Jennifer s own wants as she is very demanding of her wants. The other
problem Norman on the other hand, is not as self conceited as his partner when his own ideas
are to find work. Whereas Jennifer stated she was only going to give it 6 weeks. But Norman still
wants to find a job and give living a life outside the city a try this can be apparent by when he is
talking to Roy around the fire about work as Norman says I want to start a tourist operation

Internal Financial Statements For Business Performance And...
Introduction
The details of even the smallest business or commercial enterprise can be extremely complicated.
Global enterprises are significantly more complex. Internal financial statements provide business
leaders a method to evaluate business performance and support the decision making process. The
income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows are important financial statements
used by a firm s managers, owners, and lenders. Ratio Analysis provides a method to analyze these
statements.
Income Statement The income statement is an important tool for tracking cash flow in and out of

359). This snapshot provides a clear understanding of where the company stands financially.
Similar to the income statement, the balance sheet can be compared to previous balance sheets to
understand key financial trends of the organization. The balance sheet, by definition, is associated
with balancing assets, liabilities, and owner equity. Company assets should equal liabilities plus
owner equity (Melicher Norton, 2014, p. 359). This relationship, a balanced equation between
assets, liabilities, and equity, provides the balance sheet its name. Some of the major assets
claimed by a corporation include cash, accounts receivable, inventory, and fixed assets (Melicher
Norton, 2014, pp. 359 360) while major liabilities include accounts payable and various types of
debt (Melicher Norton, 2014, p. 360 361). Equity can include preferred stock, common stock, or
retained earnings (Melicher Norton, 2014, p. 361). Like the income statement, the balance sheet
provides consistency on how financial information is organized and categorized. It provides a
consistent method to view the information of a corporation over time and also allows for the
comparison of financial information between companies.

Alfred Hitchcock s 1954 Rear Window is full of characterization, narratives and symbolism. The
film focuses around the main character of the story, Jefferies, who is a photographer but

Jeff has to spend time alone, so he spends his time watching his neighbors through his camera.
Due to the warmth of summer most people had to open their window so now Jefferies can see

We spent the whole time in the main protagonist s apartment. His apartment is in Greenwich
Village, New York City. The camera never leaves his apartment because Jeff can t leave his own
apartment. Which limits it to one room and the view out of his rear window. Alfred Hitchcock
really wants to put us in Jefferies s shoes, that s why the camera never leaves his apartment and
we are bound to see outside from his point of view. The camera man uses shots zooming, which
make the film look more realistic and makes it seem like we are viewing this through Jeff s
perspective. As the camera moves around some characters might go to the other side of their room
which has no window. This shows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strange Fruit Meaning
Strange Fruit The song Strange Fruit was first recorded by the famous jazz singer Billie Holiday
and release in 1939. The genre of the song was blues and jazz. Strange Fruit was an early cry for
the Civil Rights Movement, exposed racism, and performed the practice o hanging. The song has
simple lyrics, that carry a huge strength, and haunt you even when the song is over. The
juxtaposition of the beautiful landscape, the scent of flowers, with the blood of human beings
brutally beaten, gives a powerful and poignant felling to the song. The song exposes the brutality
of racism in America, and doesn t leave any room for more words. When the meaning of the song
is fully grasped, one remains shocked, angry and disguste by the imagery portrayed.... Show more

Billie Holiday, perhaps the greates singer in the jazz history, delivers a soul emptying vocal lament
over a groove as deep and dark as the history of lynching itself. In Holiday s unforgettable singing
we can hear all the rage and resignation, the sorrow and determination, the bitterness and hope, as
if her voice could carry the full emotional burden of the long and conflicted history of race in
America. The song is heartbraking. The song is simple in its structure, having only three stanzas
and 12 lines. The lines follow a rhyme pattern, where in each consecutive pair of lines has their
ending thyming with each other. Stange Fruit describes the scene of a lynching of a Black
American and its resemblance to a fruit hanging from a tree. The bodies were described as
strange fruits . There are a few methafors in the song; trees are symbol of life. Meeropol s tree has
blood on the leaves and blood at the root , showing that both recent and older generations of
African Americans have experienced the same sort of violent persecution. This portest song was
praised for its concise yet strong description of the butal treatment given to Black Americans.
Holiday s rendition decorated it with such beauty and power that caught the attention of White
Americas. This ignited the Black s desire to fight for their

After The War Of 1812 Reduced Sectionalism Essay
Essay Topic #1 An increase in nationalism after the War of 1812 reduced sectionalism and helped to
further unite the nation. However, divisions over slavery, culture and lifestyles and economic
structures caused a dramatic increase in sectionalism. These regional difference primarily formed
between the northern and southern regions of the country. Therefore, regional differences
significantly increased in the United Statesbetween 1800 and 1848. One of the biggest divisions
between the north and south was slavery. The south needed slaves to tend to crops such as cotton,
which became a major part of the south s economy after the invention of the cotton gin. The north,
meanwhile, gained an increasingly large number of abolitionists opposing slavery. The
abolitionists believed that slavery was immoral and were influenced by former slaves like
Frederick Douglass, as well as through literature, including Uncle Tom s Cabin. Although the
divisions over slavery would not end until later on agreements like the Missouri Compromise of
1820 reduced tensions by preventing any new states above the 36 30 parallel from joining the
union as a slave state. Another major... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the south s economy was centered around agriculture most southerners were used to living in
rural farming areas. This led to southerners, including Thomas Jefferson, to encourage the formation
of an agrarian society in which everyone can be an independent, self sustaining farmer. Jefferson
believed that the Louisiana Purchase would provide enough land for an agrarian society to exist,
despite such a purchase being unconstitutional. The north, however, did not a favorable climate or
soil to grow crops and tended to live in more urban areas where manufacturing flourished. These
differences increased as westward expansion continued and the north wanted to create industrialized
cities while the south wanted to expand their agrarian

The Davis Trial-Accused of Murder by Abortion Essay example
The Queen vs. Davis case concerns the murder trial of Arthur Paul Davis and Alice Davis that
occurred in 1875. In it, they were tried and convicted of murder for conducting an abortion; the
killing of a fetus and subsequently causing death of the victims, Catherine Laing and Jane Vaughn
Gilmour. This essay will examine the historical context of the case, what the trial reveals about the
nature of women s lives in Toronto during the 1870s as subordinate women who are deemed as
caretakers and how women managed to end unwanted pregnancies. During the late 19th century
ending an unwanted pregnancywas an illegal offence because it was considered unethical to kill a
fetus. Women were not able to access safer alternatives such as... Show more content on

After her death George Laing s suspicions led him to believe that she did not die of Typhoid
fever as the man who buried her stated. Dr. Davis had hired Jacob Amour to build a coffin the
size big enough to fit a body, and told him that it was case of Typhoid and presented him with the
death certificate. She was put in a coffin and taken out of Toronto to Hamilton. Dr. Davis
received the certificate of death from Dr. Isaac Ryall by stating that it was the case of typhoid.
No one knew at the time that Catherine was pregnant or that she was had a family of her own.
Suspicions grew about the cause of death as the body did not seem like a case of typhoid when
examined; instead seemed like an induced abortion by means of violence. It was clearly noted
during the investigation and newspaper reports by the Globe and Mail that Dr. Davis was not a
licensed doctor. Investigations took place because witnesses saw a box on the side of the ditch
and later discovered that it had a body of a young woman. Constables were informed and
coroners began an inquest. The next body discovered along a ditch was of Jane Vaughn Gilmour.
Gilmour was a single woman who had emigrated from Scotland with her family, and was living in
Canada for 3 years. She lived with a middle class family, the Clements and worked as their servant.
It was suspected that she was seduced and impregnated

Tam Lin Relationship Analysis
From Blackstock to Nowhere: Relationships and Power Dynamics in Two Retellings of the Ballad
of Tam Lin The Scottish folk ballad Tam Lin is a very popular ballad which has inspired many
contemporary writers and artists to create their own retellings and reinterpretations. Fire and
Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones and Tam Linby Pamela Dean are two of these retellings. In these
novels, Jones and Dean have masterfully brought the events and characters of the traditional ballad
into the modern world. Although both novels have drawn from the same source there are a number
of distinct differences between the two, especially when it comes to the relationship between their
Janet and Tam Lin characters (Polly Whittacker and Tom Lynn in Fire and Hemlock
, and Janet
Carter and Thomas Lane in Tam Lin), and the balance of power between them throughout the
narrative. While Jones novel is very much centered around the idea of Tam Lin being one of the
rare few folk ballads or tales with a female hero and is structured as such to give Polly a position
of power and equality in the relationship by the end, Dean seems to approach her retelling of the
ballad from a different direction, questioning whether Janet really is as empowered by her role as
the hero as it may seem at first. In both novels, the first meeting between the Janet and Tam Lin
characters sets a strong base for their initial relationship, especially regarding the power dynamics
within that relationship. In the ballad of Tam

Group Communication Analysis Paper
Analysis Paper
In my opinion, group work is a type of cooperative learning that helps people to accomplish a
certain task in a faster and more effective manner. Team working also helps to achieve the tasks
that are impossible to finish by one individual. However, if people in a group have a lot of
conflicts, group work will not be able to achieve as much as we expected. There are many reasons
which lead to dissatisfaction in group work such as individualism as well as conflicts in opinion
and time.
Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was
in high school, my five other friends and I used to work together in a music competition. Although
we were supposed to get together to practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, I want to mention our group climate. In my opinion, our group has a supportive climate.
Each member is willing to help other members in the group to complete their tasks. Our group
favors description compared to evaluation. Instead of criticizing others behaviors and ideas, we
often tell our feelings about problems. All the group members always encourage each other to share
their opinions and feelings with the group. Even though some opinions are too conflicting, the main
purpose is trying to give all the members equal opportunities to talk about their ideas. Thus, the
success of the group is the consequence from the equal contributions of all the members.
Besides, in most of the discussions of our group, we are oriented toward problem solving;
therefore, we look for the consensus of the ideas in order to solve the problems effectively and
quickly. Because our group has many members who have senses of humor, we always maintain
an interesting and comfortable atmosphere to gain assertiveness in the group. Sometimes, Ngoc
and Phong share their experiences of how they solve their families problems. Through perceiving
more deeply about each member s own life, we have gradually gotten closer together; therefore,
we are always honest and open to each other. Also, we do not criticize when a group member
cannot finish his or her task as expected because there are always personal issues out of the class.

Tens of thousands of Egyptian demonstrators took to the streets on 25 January, young and old,
Muslim and Christian, rich and poor, educated and not so educated. They all chanted Long live
Egypt , Life, liberty and human dignity and Down with the Mubarak regime .
The day marked for the celebration of Police Day was dubbed the Day of Rage. The protests,
which continued through a second day in almost every part of the country, are showing no signs of
abating on the third day, with a million strong march scheduled for Friday. These demonstrations

As it cracked down on demonstrators, it issued statements, banning any further protests and
repeating the same old excuses. It blamed the Muslim Brotherhood for what it called riots on the
streets and blamed their members for infiltrating the crowds in order to wreak havoc. This is
supposed to do the trick of scaring the world about the propsect of an imminent Islamist takeover of
Egypt a fear that the regime has painstakingly been fostering. The interior ministry also blamed the
ill defined but frequently invoked foreign hands that are always bent on fomenting trouble and
inciting people against their loving and God fearing rulers.
State controlled newspapers have also shown that their reports are approved, if not written, by the
security apparatus. People were shocked to see the headlines of the state run Al Ahram newspaper
on 26 January, after a day of massive protests in different Egyptian cities: Widespread protests and
disturbances in Lebanon . Egyptian state television was no better. While the streets were teeming
with protests, it offered its usual mix of cookery programmes and soap operas. The demonstrations
were, no doubt, happening in another country.
The reaction of Arab and international media has also been disappointing. Throughout the first day,
there was a near total disregard of the events happening on Egypt s streets. Al Jazeera, which always
follows important events as they happen, covered the demonstrations rather mutedly at the

Love and Desire in Twelfth Night Essay
According to Merriam Webster s Collegiate Dictionary, love is defined as strong affection for
another arising out of kinship or personal ties; attraction based on sexual desire; affection and
tenderness felt by lovers; affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interest; or an
assurance of love. In William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, three different types of love are
experienced: friendship love, true love, and self love. Each character experiences a different type
of love, and in some cases it is not what they originally expected. The twisted, yet intriguing love
story allows the reader to get lost in each characters emotions and development throughout the play.

And because Viola is disguised as a man, she cannot show her true feelings for Orsino. After Orsino
asks Viola to speak with Olivia and professes his love to her, Viola lets the reader know what she is
truly feeling by saying Yet a barful strife! Whoe er I woo, myself would be his wife (Act 1,
Scene 4, Line 40). This shows that even though she is willing to help Orsino pursue Olivia,
Viola ultimately wants to marry Orsino. Viola s love for Orsino is revealed again at the end of
Act 2, Scene 4. Orsino is asking Viola to try harder in the quest for Olivia and he basically says
that there is no love more noble or great as his, so she must love him. Viola then proceeds to say
that maybe Olivia doesn t love him; however, there is someone out there that does. She says:
Sooth, but you must.
Say that some lady, as perhaps there is,
Hath for your love as great a pang of heart
As you have for Olivia. You cannot love her;
You tell her so; Must she not then be answered? (Act 2, scene 4, Lines 86 90)
This is Viola confessing her true feelings for Orsino. She is telling him that she is the one who
loves him the way he loves Olivia. Viola s love for Orsino is so deep and she has so much desire
that it literally hurts her heart. She then continues to say that her father had a daughter who loved a

Zora Neal Hurston s Sweat
In Zora Neal Hurston s short story Sweat, Delia Jones is a dedicated wash woman who is
cemented into an unfortunate relationship with her husband, Skyes. Skyes not only treats Delia
inhumanely, but he also commits adultery with his mistress, Bertha. Delia will not divorce
Skyes because of her religious beliefs. Delia is deathly afraid of snakes, and Skyes uses this to
his advantage when he tries to kill Delia, so he can marry his mistress; ironically, the snake kills
Skyes. Delia transforms into a new person throughout the story by fighting for her life in a
sophisticated manner. In Sweat , Zora Neal Hurston uses the symbolism of the clothes, iron
skillet, snake, and bed to signify Delia Jones s perpetual suffering in her relationship with her
husband. Delia rides into town on her horse every Saturday to retrieve soiled clothes and return
clean clothes to her white patrons. Delia always sorted the clothes into precise piles. Looking to
start a fight, Skyes shambles the clothes into one pile once again. The symbolism of the clothes
represents Delia s purity. Hurston writes, He [Skyes] stepped upon the whitest pile of things,
kicking them helter skelter as he crossed the room. His wife gave a little scream of dismay, and
quickly gathered them together (74). Skyes treats the clothes like he treats his wife, with no... Show

  • 2. How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect European Society The industrial revolution was when changes in agriculture, manufacturing, work ethics, transportation and technology became more advanced. The revolution made social economics and culture prosper. This spread during the 18th and 19th century in Europe. Europe was the first place to start this revolution because it had the resources to advance technology and it was politically stable. Most people made a living in small towns and were farmers. A large amount of people at the time were poor, and malnourished, disease was also a common issue to encounter. The European industrial revolutionchanged this and nearly every aspect of daily life was impacted in some way. The revolution was so successful that it influenced another one. For the first time in history, the living standards of the masses of ordinary people have begun to undergo sustained growth. ... Nothing remotely like this economic behavior has happened before. This means that the european industrial revolution brought on this change of population in many areas. Most places grew and expanded with the amount of people that prospered in it. The part about Nothing remotely like this economic behavior has happened before , means that the european industrial revolution was the start and the cause of waves of migration. Population grew because death rates decreased and birth rates increased. Town s rural industries grew along with trade. The economy called for more people to fill in jobs such as harvesters. ... • 3. The Rises Of Hitler s Rise To The Rise Of Adolf Hitler Adolf Hitler began his rise to power at the end of World War One. He rose on the wave of brokenness that enveloped the German population after the demoralizing loss of the Great War. He was charismatic and knew how to woo people to his side. He also read the German culture and knew how to inflame their national pride. But even with all of his great leadership gifts, the man did not rise to power alone. With him, he gathered malcontents and people who hated their circumstances and formed them into formidable forces. Two of the groups that catapulted him into unassailability were the SA and the SS. These groups guaranteed that Hitler would gain and hold power for a very long time. The SA, or otherwise known as Sturmabteilung, began as the National Socialist German Workers Partys (NSDAP) security branch. The SA was mainly made up of street fighters and ex soldiers, The men of the SA protected Nazi meetings. They also broke up a lot of rival political group meetings and harassed the Nazi s opponents. By September the 1921, Hitler had successfully made the SA into a private army just for him. He then chose the name Sturmabteilung or ( Stormtroops ) and had them clothed in uniforms styled after the military uniforms. So the party organizers got a large shipment of very cheap army brown shirts, which would eventually become distinctive uniforms of the SA. The SA became a very important tool for Hitler s rise to power. Until the summer of 1934, the SA was the most feared and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Reduction Of Weight Of Heavy Vehicles Introduction The need for reduction in weight of heavy vehicles is increasing day after day. Reduction of weight results in reduced fuel consumption which results in a decrease in the emission of greenhouse gas. For reducing the weight, higher strength to weight ratio steels would be required. Not only is a high strength, but the steel also requires to be adequately formable and greater energy absorption capacity. Good formability is essential for designing vehicle components with complex shapes. Dual phase (DP) steels are quite promising material for these purposes. DP steels can already achieve strength in the range of 500 1200 MPa with a total elongation of 15 25 %. Dual phase steels contain more than 1% alloying element among which major alloying elements are C, Si, Mn, and there are some other alloying elements also. Among different grades of Dual phase steels, the primary concern here is DP600 steels. A general chemical composition of DP 600 steel is tabulated in Table 1 below. Table 1. • 6. What Role Did The Art Of Sculpture Play In Romanesque Church The name Hagia Sophia actually means Holy Wisdom . Hagia Sophia was built in Istanbul which was formerly known as Constantinople. Hagia Sophia was built over 1400 years ago in 537 BC by Emperor Justinian I. Hagia Sophia was built to replace the old church that was torched and burned down. Hagia Sophia was a Greek Orthodox Church. The church incorporates Christian beliefs with murals of Jesus Christs but also hanging from the ceiling are Islamic writings. The way the structural lighting of church was designed, it creates a halo type effect giving a heavenly feel. The sunlight reflects off of glass and gold which lightens the famous Hagia Sophia dome. Hagia Sophia remained a church until 1453 when the Turks converted the church into a mosque. 2. What role did the art of sculpture play in Romanesque church? Sculpture... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the sense that Romanesque churches lacked light, the gothic style churches required much more lighting where it would feel as if the lighting was coming from the heavens above. In addition to, the gothic style incorporated less heavy walls but instead, the use of lighter fly buttresses used to support church or cathedral walls. The flying buttresses were of double use. They provided structural support but incorporated another form art found amongst a lot of gothic style cathedrals. Gothic style also replaced the hefty walls of the Romanesque art by using columns that were much thinner. Gothic style also introduced the Rose Windows as seen on many gothic cathedrals. Rose windows were just stain classes that form massive, colorful windows seen in the front of many gothic cathedrals and churches. • 7. Factors That Led To The Collapse Of The Mayan Civilization The Maya civilization was one of the most successful civilizations of its time. The Mayans were one of the most dominant civilizations in Mesoamerica, located in tropic lowlands in what is now known as Guatemala. The Mayans were very religious, as they worshipped gods that were related to nature, such as a rain god and a sun god. They were an agricultural society that mostly relied on trade in order to get their resources. Mayans were often seen as advanced compared to other European civilizations with their arts, writing, agricultural techniques, and their architecture. Even though the Maya civilizationwas very successful, it eventually collapsed. Historians often debate about how such an advanced civilization could have collapsed. Although there were many factors that contributed to the collapse of the Mayan, the three that contributed the most were the collapsing social structure, a decrease in resources, and as well as drought. One factor that contributed to the Maya Collapse was the fact that their once strong social class was beginning to fall. The Maya social class was made up of nobles, farmers and slaves. Over time, this system started to become unorganized. In his article, Maya Collapse: Recent Insight on the Classic Maya Collapse, Joel Palka describes that Mayan cities either fell or thrived due to the way their politics and religion were handled. The cities that thrived either negotiated their power or had it distributed equally through calendar cycles. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of The Windhover By Gerard Manley Hopkins There is no doubt many metaphorical meanings that critics can take from the The Windhover by Gerard Manley Hopkins. With that in mind, I will focus on finding the correct linguistic interpretation of the poem. In the past, authors of scholarly articles of the poem have seemed to downplay the self reflective portion of the poem where Hopkins refers to his own hidden heart. There has also been much disagreement over the sequence dapple dawn drawn, and multitudes of debates on the interpretation of here/ Buckle! The intention of this explication is to clarify and hopefully provide a conclusion of these disparities. To begin, the breaking of the word kingdom between line 1 and 2 is significant. The falcon is both morning s minion and king. If the break was following the complete word kingdom there would have been less exaltation of the falcon. Hopkins set the glory of the bird up by using the dynamic verb caught, implying spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane verb like view or see. The division of the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous interpretations of the first two lines. The first interpretation is that the falcon is the kingdom, and the other being that the falcon is the dauphin of the dom(e) of daylight, the sky (Rudanko 176). The double interpretation of lines 1 through 2 created a more complete characterization of the falcon and effectively uses compression to contain as much meaning as possible. For the dapple dawn drawn sequence, Rudanko proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and his own, which, are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2) The falcon is sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is attracted by the dawn. (4) The dappled falcon is sketched in silhouette against the dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately following this sequence the falcon is riding. Therefore, it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate interpretations of the sequence since the dappling of the bird would be imperceptible if he were to appear as a silhouette and that if the dawn is dappled there would be enough light in the rest of the sky to illuminate the bird enough for it to not just ... The conquerors would often suppress the original inhabitants of the land, by forcing them into slavery, harsh treatment and even, taking of children and young girls for pleasure. The conquered residents would live in fear, oppression, and ill treatment in their ancestral land. The modern era, brought about a different mode of the conquering of kingdoms, with the same devastating effects of inhumane treatment and suffering of the indigenous persons. Although the prevalence of the engineering works with physical artifacts, the majority of the work lies within the intellectual domain. Further, engineers offer technical possibilities, which work to optimize the social, environmental consequences and opportunities to the society. The hallmark of a professional engineer is to apply and make informed, sustainable and responsible decisions. Engineers ought to uphold and own the impositions and the consequences within considerable ethical limits of the possibilities produced. Therefore, prerequisite understanding of what the community has encountered in the past and continued to endure formulates the basics within which an individual should approach particular instances. The history of the treatment of aboriginals in Australia expresses the rationale and the manner in which an engineer should interact and make decisions about the indigenous people. Engineers should have the ability to discern the particular setting of the people, before the imposition of ideas and proposals to the local communities, and principally, the aboriginals. Engineers ought to understand the implications of their actions and impactions, as well as aim to rectify the problems and issues. Engineers should build on their critical competencies of comprehension, conceptually based understanding, and discernment as well as knowledge. The grandfather, Lodewyk van Beethoven came from Mechelen, Belgium and joined the court orchestra in Bonn as a bass player. He eventually became the conductor. His son Johann was a professional tenor at the court in Bonn and also played piano and violin. Although some of the ideas used in the Ninth Symphony appear in sketches of 1817 18, Beethoven only began concentrated work on the score in 1822. It occupied him throughout 1823, and he completed it in February 1824. The first performance took place at the Karntnerthor Theater in Vienna on May 7, 1824. • 11. The Lost City Radio By Daniel Alarcon Lost City Radio Essay The book I am reading is titled The Lost City Radio by Daniel AlarcГіn. He is a Peruvian American writer from Lima, Peru, but he was raised in the United States. This author s book was published in 2007 and was his debut book. The central idea of this book reveals the effects of war on its characters and ultimately the effects of war on communities and countries on the whole. As the author sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the main characters encounters, via flashbacks, their war induced flaws are unmasked; the people around them are affected as well, infected with fear, memory loss, and indifference to one another s plight. There is something very complicated about the effects of war and AlarcГіn exposes the problems to help readers think about the questions and solutions, if they choose. I was able to pinpoint two characters flaws categorically; Norma and Victor both exhibit issues with identity and dislocation because of the war. Norma is a withdrawn character, and as her name suggests, normal. She is not enthusiastic or emotionless on any particular issue, nor does she have any individual interests in daily life, she stays middle ground. She is a loner with no friends, no children, no pets, but most of all no husband, which is the crust of her dissociative existence. Norma lost her husband, Rey, in the unnamed war, of the unnamed country, in the unnamed city, and she is lost without him. Even after ten years has passed, she is still ... Why Do Paper Towel Absorb The Most Water AIM: To determine which brand of 3 ply paper towel will absorb the most water HYPOTHESIS: Brands with thicker paper towels will absorb more water as there are more molecules present that are the key to absorbency in paper towels INTRODUCTION: The key to absorbency in paper towels are the fibers called cellulose molecules which are big molecules that consist of lots of tiny sugar molecules chained together. When a paper towel becomes wet, the water molecules rush in and cling onto the cellulose fibers which is why it is able to absorb the water. The results also showed that different paper towels absorb different amounts of water, some more and some less. The fibers that make up the paper towel are what enables the towel itself to absorb water. The more fibers, the more water is absorbed which is why Kleenex was the most successful paper towel brand in this experiment as it was more thick and held more fibers. There weren t many weaknesses identified in the experiment design but there were a few disadvantages of doing this experiment, the main one being that whlist the paper towel was removed from the beaker using our fingers. This may of slightly affected the results as some of the water may of fell back into the beaker or were stuck to our fingers. To avoid this, tongs should be used instead. Othello Figurative Language The use of figurative language ensures a text is dynamic To be honest and truthful are traits many aspire to have, yet often our reality is clouded by the appearances put up around us. William Shakespeare aptly displays this in his words: we know what we are, but know not what we may be . In his play Othello, Shakespeare uses figurative language to ensure his play is dynamic. Shakespeare skilfully employs the use of imagery, through the stark contrast between light and dark to construct a dynamic text that deals with the idea of good and evil though the appearance and reality of his characters. Light and dark imagery is first seen in the play through the main character of Othello. Shakespeare utilizes bold metaphors such as the strong allusions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As his course of action is decided, Othello s verdict to murder Desdemona is deemed as hell and night must bring this monstrous birth to the world s light while the act of the murder is described as to put out the light . The two parallels that Shakespeare draws from these two contradictory lines is evident in their irony to the audience. We are able to see the irony in the way Othello wishes to bring Desdemona s alleged infidelity to light and to the truth by putting it (her) out. This ironic use of opposing light and dark imagery allows us as the audience to see the truth of Othello and Desdemona s situation, how Othello has created his own reality and is adamant in bringing to life. Shakespeare also continues with his figurative language in the monstrous birth , we are able to once again see the sardonic use of irony as we know that Othello is the true monster in his violent and unforgiving decision to kill Desdemona, the woman he loves. Shakespeare once again conveys the idea of reality and appearance when Othello commits to the deed and murders Desdemona. Methinks it should be now a huge eclipse of sun and moon Othello says as he watches his beloved die beneath him. Alfred Lord Tennyson s quote from his poem In Memoriam A.H.H. perfectly encapsulates A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. A Thousand Splendid Suns impeccably portrays love and loss through the many deaths and reuniting throughout the novel. The story as shows distinctive cultural concepts of Afghanistan, the intense character development of Mariam, and compelling themes of love and loss. After Mariam s mother s death, her father, Jalil, immediately gives away Mariam to a popular shoemaker of Kabul, Rasheed. She is extremely angry with her father s decision because her half sisters are getting a quality education and better lives while she is forced to commit to a man she barely knows at the age of 15. In this realistic fiction book by Doris Lessing, the main character Jerry, goes to a beach and he meets some boys that go through an underwater tunnel, and he wants to go too. In the book, it says that Jerry s mom is a widow so he has no dad. This could make him want friends even more than other people because he doesn t have a dad to play catch with or something. I think that s why that Jerry wants to make friends with the big boys, who were the other kids on the beach. The first piece of evidence is To be with them, of them, was a craving that filled his whole body. This supports my claim that Jerry is lonely because this piece of evidence means that Jerry doesn t just need friends, he also wants friends. This is important because in order to have friends, you need to want friends (although exceptions exist (me)). Another piece of evidence shows that Jerry is awkward on page 5, where it says and now, in a panic of failure, he yelled up, in English, Look at me! It s interesting to me that the limbic brain is said to have no capacity for language . Seems strange to me to think of any one part of the brain functioning independently of any of the other parts of the brain. I was also interested in the statement about rational decisions taking longer to make, and that they can be of lesser quality. So, to try and escape bankruptcy, they offered politicians and even the president, Ulysses S. Grant, shares of their stock in exchange for more funding. Furthermore, many politicians that were offered accepted the bribe, continuing corruption in the United States. Another famous example is the Tammany Hall Scandal. William Tweed turned Tammany Hall, in New York City, into a political machine. Then, he used it to facilitate widespread corruption, and most importantly, to rob New York of almost $100 million. One particular example of corruption occurred during election day when the Republican party hired Armed U.S Marshals to stand outside of the polls to improve their prospects. The process is to turn a website like google.com into an machine readable address like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use for identification on the network. In fact Google Public DNS is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the computers or hosts on the internet use IP Address to establish a connection with site they are need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at each decimal point. We just use a DNS server and appropriate name servers and access the sites with specific names. And this DNS server manages a massive database which maps the domain names to those IP Addresses. On a short note, DNS server search for the domain name as per the User Request. This process is named as DNS name Resolution and this means DNS servers converts the domain name to IP address. As mentioned earlier, google.com has IP address of 8.8.8.8 which you enter directly into browser will give you the Google s page. • 31. Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem, Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and then asks how that influences the creative human mind. Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. • 33. Immigrants In The Philippines Today, Filipinos represent the 4th largest immigrant group in the United States by country of origin, after Mexico, India and China (Alchin, 2017). The Filipinos started immigrating to the United States for various reasons such as political and poverty. They were able to through trading ships and after the Spanish American War. Once here, they faced prejudice and discrimination, including in our own state, Washington. The first wave of immigrants from the Philippines to America was during the period when the country was under Spanish rule and formed part of the Spanish East Indies. People were migrating through the Spanish trading ships that were called Manila Galleons , these ran across the Pacific Ocean from Manila to the port of Acapulco. The ships carried things like silk, perfume, spices, and other goods from China to Mexico and California. In California seamen who had been forced to work for the Spanish, would migrate to North America. • 34. Criticism Of Piecemeal Social Engineering the state from the ground up. It is radical. Piecemeal social engineering, however, does not have the same idealized society as the end point, or at least, sees it as something in the far distance. Piecemeal is far less risky, for several reasons that Popper points out in his critique. Firstly, because piecemeal social engineering looks at solving the most urgent evils of society, and not just trying to get rid of all of them, with the goal of creating a heaven on earth, it is a method that can be applied to at any moment (Popper 148). Small changes that improve happiness is much easier to do than trying to fully eliminate suffering. An example of this type of improvement would be call centers for parents with sick children. This would allow the parents to call and get support from a registered nurse or doctor, without having to wait in long lines at the hospital, or adding to those long lines. Piecemeal is about solving issues that are occurring right now, and by doing that, is bettering society. This also makes this method faster that utopian, which takes generations for the blueprint to be seen though, instead of smaller aspects being fixed right away. There are many other issues that are connected to the long timeframe of utopian social engineering takes. Popper points out that making a heaven on earth is not something that can be done in one or more generations. Relationships can have positive and negative outcomes, one has to overcome and improve and change to succeed in a positive relationship. As Richard M. Devos once said Money cannot buy peace of mind. It cannot heal ruptured relationships, or build meaning into a life that has none. In the short story Bluffing by Gail Helgason money and communication show the importance of a successful relationship in Liam s and Gabriella s life. On the other hand in the short storyThe Prospectors Trail by Cathy Jewison money and communication were one of the conflicts throughout. The thesis of this essay is one should put their own opinions and views before others. In The short story Bluffing one of the problems is that Jennifer is fairly demanding of her own wants and needs about starting a new life in Yellowknife which can be shown by when she is in the tent talking to Norman as she says I give it six weeks to labour day (Jewison 24). This quotation emphasis Jennifer s own wants as she is very demanding of her wants. The other problem Norman on the other hand, is not as self conceited as his partner when his own ideas are to find work. Whereas Jennifer stated she was only going to give it 6 weeks. But Norman still wants to find a job and give living a life outside the city a try this can be apparent by when he is talking to Roy around the fire about work as Norman says I want to start a tourist operation (Jewison 22). Global enterprises are significantly more complex. Internal financial statements provide business leaders a method to evaluate business performance and support the decision making process. The income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows are important financial statements used by a firm s managers, owners, and lenders. This snapshot provides a clear understanding of where the company stands financially. Similar to the income statement, the balance sheet can be compared to previous balance sheets to understand key financial trends of the organization. The balance sheet, by definition, is associated with balancing assets, liabilities, and owner equity. Company assets should equal liabilities plus owner equity (Melicher Norton, 2014, p. 359). This relationship, a balanced equation between assets, liabilities, and equity, provides the balance sheet its name. Some of the major assets claimed by a corporation include cash, accounts receivable, inventory, and fixed assets (Melicher Norton, 2014, pp. 359 360) while major liabilities include accounts payable and various types of debt (Melicher Norton, 2014, p. 360 361). Equity can include preferred stock, common stock, or retained earnings (Melicher Norton, 2014, p. 361). Like the income statement, the balance sheet provides consistency on how financial information is organized and categorized. It provides a consistent method to view the information of a corporation over time and also allows for the comparison of financial information between companies. • 40. Alfred Hitchcock Rear Window Alfred Hitchcock s 1954 Rear Window is full of characterization, narratives and symbolism. The film focuses around the main character of the story, Jefferies, who is a photographer but unfortunately recently has to use a wheelchair and stay in an apartment because he broke his leg. Jeff has to spend time alone, so he spends his time watching his neighbors through his camera. Due to the warmth of summer most people had to open their window so now Jefferies can see what is happening in their life. It s like he is watching multiple films at the same time. A free cinema for Jefferies. The view of that window and Jefferies s apartment is all the viewers have. We spent the whole time in the main protagonist s apartment. His apartment is in Greenwich Village, New York City. The camera never leaves his apartment because Jeff can t leave his own apartment. Which limits it to one room and the view out of his rear window. Alfred Hitchcock really wants to put us in Jefferies s shoes, that s why the camera never leaves his apartment and we are bound to see outside from his point of view. However, divisions over slavery, culture and lifestyles and economic structures caused a dramatic increase in sectionalism. These regional difference primarily formed between the northern and southern regions of the country. Therefore, regional differences significantly increased in the United Statesbetween 1800 and 1848. One of the biggest divisions between the north and south was slavery. The south needed slaves to tend to crops such as cotton, which became a major part of the south s economy after the invention of the cotton gin. The north, meanwhile, gained an increasingly large number of abolitionists opposing slavery. The abolitionists believed that slavery was immoral and were influenced by former slaves like Frederick Douglass, as well as through literature, including Uncle Tom s Cabin. Although the divisions over slavery would not end until later on agreements like the Missouri Compromise of 1820 reduced tensions by preventing any new states above the 36 30 parallel from joining the union as a slave state. This essay will examine the historical context of the case, what the trial reveals about the nature of women s lives in Toronto during the 1870s as subordinate women who are deemed as caretakers and how women managed to end unwanted pregnancies. Dr. Davis had hired Jacob Amour to build a coffin the size big enough to fit a body, and told him that it was case of Typhoid and presented him with the death certificate. She was put in a coffin and taken out of Toronto to Hamilton. Dr. Davis received the certificate of death from Dr. Isaac Ryall by stating that it was the case of typhoid. • 45. Tam Lin Relationship Analysis From Blackstock to Nowhere: Relationships and Power Dynamics in Two Retellings of the Ballad of Tam Lin The Scottish folk ballad Tam Lin is a very popular ballad which has inspired many contemporary writers and artists to create their own retellings and reinterpretations. Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones and Tam Linby Pamela Dean are two of these retellings. In these novels, Jones and Dean have masterfully brought the events and characters of the traditional ballad into the modern world. Although both novels have drawn from the same source there are a number of distinct differences between the two, especially when it comes to the relationship between their Janet and Tam Lin characters (Polly Whittacker and Tom Lynn in Fire and Hemlock , and Janet Carter and Thomas Lane in Tam Lin), and the balance of power between them throughout the narrative. While Jones novel is very much centered around the idea of Tam Lin being one of the rare few folk ballads or tales with a female hero and is structured as such to give Polly a position of power and equality in the relationship by the end, Dean seems to approach her retelling of the ballad from a different direction, questioning whether Janet really is as empowered by her role as the hero as it may seem at first. In both novels, the first meeting between the Janet and Tam Lin characters sets a strong base for their initial relationship, especially regarding the power dynamics within that relationship.
