The Ak-Chin Indian Community relies on surface water from four perennial washes as well as groundwater sources for its water supply. The Community has a water system that serves over 300 homes and an industrial park water system. Wastewater is treated at the Ak-Chin Wastewater Treatment Plant which has undergone two expansion phases to increase its capacity. The Community also has plans for water reuse projects to use treated wastewater for irrigation. An environmental project removed salt cedar trees and replanted native cottonwood trees to improve habitat and water quality.
