This document discusses old and new approaches to psychology. Old psychology focused on intellect, memory, emotions, and will, treating a person as a mechanical subsystem. However, the author argues this is a bad approach. A better approach, exemplified by Pavlov and Lorenz's work, treats a person as an ecological subsystem, considering their environment. The author proposes a new psychology should follow this ecological approach and classify problems into 12 classes based on the number of people involved and whether choice can be freely made.
