T.: Today we shall see some mail strategies in training students for the EIT (External Independent Training =
ЗНО). As you know our school leavers must have B1 level of knowledge of English. EIT checks their skills in
reading, use of English and writing.
Typical test consists of 4 tasks with texts, 2 tests in grammar and vocabulary and 1 task in writing. Total time
for doing it – 120 minutes. To cope with it we need constant practice through learning and studying the
language together with using it with the help of motivation.
As for me motivation is basic, because not every student is going to pass this test. On my lessons while teaching
I let my students know that studying English may not be very difficult. It’s a rather interesting process and even
sometimes funny. Everyone should understand why we do all this!
As you see our todays theme is Eating Out and topic: At the Table. What’s the difference between these two
words: theme and topic? (theme means more general meaning, nearly the same as studying and learning).
1. Organizing the class for work.
Well. Let’s begin from a little warming up.
- Can you name 3 places for eating out? (можливі варіанти відповіді: café, restaurant, bar)
What’s your favourite place? Why do you like it? When did you visit it last?
- Can you name 3 things we need on our dinner table? (можливі варіанти відповіді: a fork, a knife, a
plate, a glass)
Can you use these things properly?
- Can you name 3 verbs for cooking? ( to fry, to roast, to boil etc.)
What’s the difference between frying and roasting?
- Can you name 3 foods in your fridge? ( milk, vegetables, soup)
Is it correct to say foods? (yes, it means different kinds = fruits or fishes)
2. Checking the homework.
Your home tasks for today was to prepare short essays on the topic “Live to eat or eat to live?” let’s
listen to some of them.
Зачитують свої повідомлення, проводиться коротке обговорення)
3. Practicing.
Great amount of time must be given to work with different kind of tests. Let’s see what is tested.

VEGETABLES WHICH MAKE PEOPLE HEALTHY
1. Tomatoes have high levels of beta carotene, an antioxidant that supports the immune system. They have
high dietary fibre and taste delicious raw or cooked.

Garlic is a natural antiseptic; it prevents cancer, fights infection, and prevents colds.
3. Onions are rich in quercetin, a powerful antioxidant that may reduce the risk of cancer. The quercetin also
makes onions a safe therapy for allergies; it also helps prevent heart disease and reduce high blood pressure.
4. The power of mushrooms comes from their ability to enhance the activity of natural killer T-cells (NKT).
These NKTs attack and remove cells that are damaged or infected by a virus.
5. Beets are an amazing blood purifier. Beets are rich in iron and produce the disease-fighting white blood
cells. They also stimulate red blood cells and improve the supply of oxygen to the cells.
