Mobile Banking for the Unbanked
In many developing countries it s common for a person to have a mobile phone but not a bank
account. In fact, more than 1 billion people fit this description, and the number is only likely to
increase. To that end, many companies are considering how to give residents access to banking
services via their handsets. The GSM Association predicts that by 2012, nearly 300 million of the
previously unbanked will be using some form of mobile banking. The mistake a lot of us make is to
look at the folks at the base of the pyramid and assume that they must need the same types of services
we need. The Harvard Business School case study Mobile Banking for the Unbanked explores two
very different examples of mobile financial service models: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A subscription model doesn t appeal to the poor at all, Rangan says. They don t want to pay a fee for
something they might not use. Moreover, more than half of South Africa s population had no access to
a bank account. This was largely because half of the population lived below the poverty line, and
banks, understandably, were not eager to serve a moneyless customer base. Banks find it an
unprofitable proposition to serve people who make less than three dollars per day, Rangan says. Still,
WIZZIT s founders thought there was a noble and viable business model in bringing banking to the
poor, via a mobile banking platform that could be used on even the most primitive cell phone. They
succeeded in finding an engineer to develop the platform, but quickly ran into a major regulatory
roadblock. Per the South African government, only licensed banks were allowed to take deposits. The
cost of a license was the equivalent of $34 million a hefty fee for a startup and the South African
Reserve Bank was wary of issuing new permits. Hence, the WIZZIT execs began searching for an
established banking partner. Time and again the top tier banks turned

Short Summary Of Araby
James Joyce tells a story of a young boy around the age of eleven, who lives with his uncle and aunt in
an uninhabited house at the end of a blind corner. He likes to play with his friends till late night. Araby
also known as the bazaar was the place he wishes to visit. This story is mainly based on the type of
place where they live, his fondness toward his friend s sister, and the Araby(bazaar) where he wanted
to go. According to the story the place they live sounds awful because as he mentioned The former
tenant of our house, a priest, had died in the back drawing room (Joyce 86). This place doesn t sounds
adequate enough for a child to live in because it can cause unnecessary fear for the child. Also he was
playing in the contaminating place till late night in freezing cold, which can be proven harmful for a
child s physical health. Once his aunt send him to market to pick up some of the parcels, on his way he
saw drunken men, druggies, and some bad people were cursing on each other. Those were the worst
things for a child to see, and a child was not supposed to send to those kind of market as well. Living
in this type of environment is dangerous for the child s future because a child learn faster by observing
an adult . His uncle and aunt were careless about him. They never paid attention to the things he had
been doing during their absence. On the other hand, they should have used all the bad things to give
him an example that, if he started doing those things he will never able to be a successful man. He will
be stuck there as those people were, and never will able to see a good lifestyle. But his uncle and aunt
had never bother themselves to teach him anything. As he likes to play with Mangan everyday. Most
of the time Mangan s sister come out to call him for tea, and he (Joyce as a child) likes to watch his
sister, every time she come out of her house. A little by little he started liking her, but he was scared to
talk to her. Except some casual talks. He was in love with her because everyday he uses different
techniques to take a glance at her. Once he murmured: O love! O love! many times for her. He
promised her that he will bring something for her whenever he goes to Araby. For a eleven year

How Did Thomas Jefferson Influence Neoclassical Architecture
Neoclassical architecture began in the mid eighteenth century by the neoclassical movement. It is a
style principally derived from the work of the Italian architect Andrea Palladio, the architecture of
classical age, and the Marcus Vitruvius Pollio principles. Neoclassical architecture was the answer to
simplifying the excesses of the Rocco style with its simpler symmetrical forms, intense use of
columns, and a fondness for blank walls. Neoclassicism could be found flourishing in every major city
in Europe and the United States. Within this movement, two people stand out for their architectural
prominence. Thomas Jefferson from the United States and Robert Adams from Europe.
Thomas Jefferson (April 13, 1743 July 4, 1826) was the author of the Declaration of Independence,
Governor of the State of Virginia, Ambassador to France, and the third President of the United States
of America. With these accomplishments, he was also one of the best architects of the late 18th and
early 19th century. Although a well educated man, Jefferson was a self taught architect greatly
influenced by the Italian revivalist architect Andrea Palladio (1508 1580). Jefferson was introduced to
neoclassical architecture during his tenure as an Ambassador to France. His enthusiasm for
neoclassical art had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

buildings as well as private residences such as the Virginia State Capital, the United States Capital
Building, and his own houses Monticello and Polar Forest

NOT PRIDE BUT FREEDOM: Rhetorical Analysis of John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address Tanner
A. Woody Anderson University On January 20, 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy delivered a speech
with a backdrop of snow and a twenty degree wind blowing in his face in Washington D.C. In his
speech, he starts off with saying that his victory is not for a party but it is for freedom. At the climax
of his speech, JFK delivers a call to action which is also the most well known line from his speech:
...ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country. Following that
extraordinary remark, he extends that call to the world by asking what they can all do together for the
freedom of the world. Type, Purpose, and Audience This speech was not just a ceremonial speech, it
also played the praise and blame game with Russia and also casted a vision for America and the role
that it would play in the world. After the majority of the speech was finished, Kennedy stated that all
this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand
days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us
begin, to see a world where peace is prominent (Line 21). Kennedy placed special emphasis on his
role as the voice of a new generation, a group with exceptional values and qualities, confirming that
this speech would set the pace and the tone for his Presidency

Inca Empire Research Paper
The Inca were once one of the most advanced societies and largest empires in the early 16th century
Americas. They had an expansive empire that spread throughout South America, including what is
present day Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and northern Chile. With a successful monarchical government
and large military system, the Incas also had complex irrigation systems and technologies that were
ahead of their time. The Spanish first arrived in 1527 while the Incas were still a thriving society led
by Huayna Capac who had kept the country unified. However, by the early 1530s, there was a schism
in the Inca Empire between the two sons of Huayna Capac, Huáscar and Atahualpa, who were fighting
for kingship, dividing the empire in two. The Spanish, led ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spanish Jurisdiction was implemented, striping the Incas economic, social, and political power. The
Spaniards attempted to convert the Incas to Christianity but most Incas were confused by the nature of
the religion and did not want to participate. Hernando Pizarro observed how religion and traditions
were a large part of Inca life meaning they were unlikely to give it up. When Atahualpa was presented
with a Bible, he threw it on the ground and stated, I will not leave this place until you have restored all
that you have taken in my land. I know well who you are and what you have come for. Atahualpa did
not want to give up his religion and accept Spanish beliefs like the Spaniards wanted him to. After the
disbandment of the Inca people, the Peruvian government was created by the Spanish, and the Inca
were forcibly incorporated into the Spanish colonial society. The Spaniards also erased Inca culture
through replacement of Incan architecture and traditions. The Inca had a distinct architecture that
showed not only their innovations like stone work and single rooms, but also their power in South
America. Once the Spaniards arrived though, the architecture of the Incas was lost and replaced with
work of the Spanish showing their power and wealth that they brought to South America. The Incas
fancy and elaborate cities were also looted by the Spaniards. Graves were raided and gold was stolen.
Atahualpa s palace was stripped of its silver plaques that decorated its entrance. With the creation of
Peru, Incas were marginalized and made to accept Spanish culture and government at the loss of their

time in his life where is receiving an important object. There are lots of ways that the Apache girl and
Medicine Bag are similar as well as, different. Likewise, there are many disadvantages and advantages
of text versus video.
There are many similarities and differences between The Apache Girl Rite of Passage and The
Medicine Bag. To begin, one similarity between these rites of passage are that both of the main
characters are going through an important time in their life. For example, Martin is getting ready to
receive the medicine bag, an important rite of passage for him and his lakota heritage. In contrast,
Dachina is going through a event where she becomes a women. In addition, to both characters going
through an important time in their life. There is another similarity, both of the events taking place are
traditions. For instance, in the Medicine Bag, the person who has the medicine bag at the time is
supposed to give it to the the next son in line. Another example, is that every girl in Dachina s Apache
tribe has to go through this rite of passage to become a women, so it s like a tradition.

The Encoding of Contextual Fear Conditioning
The formation of new memories requires protein synthesis dependent changes in synaptic structure
and plasticity in the hippocampus. Studies in humans and animals suggest that these memories are
initially stored in hippocampus but later transferred to cortex for permanent storage. This phenomenon
is described as systems consolidation of memories. While the specific role for new protein synthesis in
hippocampus in early encoding of memories is established, whether protein synthesis in medial
prefrontal cortex play a major role in encoding of memories is unclear. To address this question, we
used contextual fear conditioning (CFC) of mouse, a behavior training that induce long lasting
memories. A single training session produces robust lifelong memory (8) that can be measured using
automated procedures (9). Several studies have used CFC training as a model to study hippocampal
cortical communications and mechanisms underlying systems consolidation of memories. Contextual
fear memories are initially stored in hippocampus and then moved to medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC)
for long term storage.
We assume that if encoding of contextual fear memories require protein synthesis at both
hippocampus and PFC, we will be able to identify translationally active mRNAs in hippocampus and
PFC. Because RNAs associated with polyribosomes indicate translational activation, we first isolated
polyribosomes from mPFC and hippocampus at two time points (one hour and six hours, hereafter T1
and T2

Why Is Ice Hockey Important To Me
Although my life to date has been focused mainly on my academics, I have done the best I can to keep
myself well rounded. Growing up I was fortunate to partake in team sports, learning to play a musical
instrument, and learn the martial arts of Taekwondo.
One of my greatest pastimes is ice hockey. I was particularly fond of the goal tending position. I was a
goaltender for 10 years until I started college, then my goals and priorities seemed to change. Overall
my experience playing a team sport has helped me learn about trust and camaraderie. These are just a
few qualities that I expect would help me become a better healthcare professional.
Like most during grade school, I was exposed to a number of different musical instruments. My older

Walter Mitlter s Character Analysis
Walter Mitty is an average, middle aged man living a dull life, and is married to a bossy wife. He does
just about everything that Mrs. Mitty tells him to do, except see Dr. Renshaw; and because of all this,
Walter often daydreams about the more exciting lives that he could have possibly lived. These
daydreams become so elaborate that Walter is very easily distracted and does not communicate with
other people very well.
Walter s boring life leads him to become highly imaginative, though he grows more anti social at the
same time. All of this does not help him create bonds with anyone or feel as needed as he wants to be.
Walter s mundane life starts off with his wife telling him what he needs to do and go get. Mrs. Mitty
tells him to: slow down when he drives faster than forty kilometers per hour, to buy overshoes and
puppy biscuits, and asks why he s not wearing his driving gloves that she got for him (implying that
Walter should put them on). Knowing his wife would only be so long at the hair dresser and that she

highly skilled doctor, Dr. Prichard Mitford. Even Dr. Renshaw is there and asks Walter ot perform a
surgery after he temporarily fixes the anesthetizer with a piece of a fountain pen. The last daydream
that Walter has, he is a captain in the war against Germany, taking on a suicide mission to pick up
heavily needed ammo. All of this must certainly prove, if anything, that Walter has the urge to be
wanted and finds that in his daydreams. This then further distances himself from society and those

Secrets In The Cellar
Secrets in the Cellar written by John Glatt is part of the true crime series, explaining details of
unthinkable crimes and what goes on behind them, exploiting the nature of criminals and their thought
process. John Glatt is a famous author among this genre, writing a total of 16 books over the course of
more than thirty years. He wrote this piece to expose a crime that shocked the world in order to inform
people about it, as he does with his other books. The book is simply here to enlighten readers who are
interested in the details of this specific crime. This book was a very interesting read, but it takes a
certain kind of reader to appreciate it, because of the fact that it does go into major details of a
disturbing crime. However, it was still a fascinating book overall. Secrets in the Cellar tells the true
story of how Austrian Josef Fritzl lured and trapped his young daughter Elisabeth into his man made

aspects that stemmed from his childhood growing up with his abusive mother and the Nazi regime.
Not only did Glatt show Fritzl s psychological journey, but he also showed Elisabeths. Being trapped
by ones father for 24 years undoubtedly puts a toll on someone s mental state, but this book also
described how she developed Stockholm syndrome, in which the victim sympathizes with their
torturer to survive. It was definitely a great addition to the book to include the psychological processes
involved in these crimes, as it makes the reader understand the act and the motives

Slinky Investigation
The reason for the experiment was to determine whether or not adding mass to a slinky changed how
fast it traveled down the stairs. It was hypothesized that changing mass at either end of the slinky
would cause it to travel down the stairs slower. An explanation for this is, when adding mass to either
end it would actually cause the required force to pull the slinky over. The first process of this
experiment was to collect materials. Finding a suitable location for stairs that were uniform in height
and width. A stopwatch was used to time the duration of falling down the steps. When pushed the
stopwatch was started. As the slinky reached the bottom step, the stopwatch was stopped. The
experiment was repeated three times with a medium slinky, and three times with a large slinky. The
results from the experiment revealed that the slinky traveled down the stairs slower when mass ...

After observing the slinky falling down the stairs, it was found that as one end of a slinky fell down it
pulled the other end along with it. Since there is now enough force, the slinky contracts and hurls the
back end down the stairs. This is repeated until the slinky makes it way to the bottom of the stairs.
Also, it was observed that a slinky resembles an extension spring. There are three different types of
springs. An extension spring, when pulled apart tries to contract to keep its original shape. When the
slinky fell down the stairs the same thing was observed.
There were two different types of slinky, medium and large. The medium slinky had a mass of
213.65g and could stretch 46.1m. The large slinky had a mass of 287.95g and could stretch 6.5m. The
main objective was to understand the physics of a slinky/spring. It was found through research that the
slinky was actually invented by a naval engineer working on suspension for a navy ship

X By Lois Gould Summary
Society has exaggerated that the way a man or woman acts is the way they have to be or else they are
not normal. The general stereotypes for women include they don t play sports, supposed to cook and
do housework, not as strong as men. The general stereotypes for men include work in the science and
engineering field, must be obeyed because they are always in charge, always on top. In the short story
X by Lois Gould, the author shows us that gender is not so important when a child chooses to express
him/herself in whichever way they want to. Although society wants an individual to act a specific way,
it shouldn t define their way of life, whatever makes the individual happy they should continue to do it
without having others judging them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children s choices/attitudes towards a subject are developed by their parents teachings in that area.
Parents influence their kids opinion in what field they choose to go into, if they have a boy they most
likely would tell him to go into some engineering or medical field (doctor), and if it s a girl they would
tell her to go into a teaching or nursing field, because this is apparently based on society expectations
and it s really bad if they don t follow what their genders are good at. If his/her parents tell them what
to become or how to behave, they will most likely listen because their parents are more experienced
and know what s best for them. Unless the boy or girl don t try new things in life, as in don t try
different sports, jobs, activities they won t know what they are most strongest in. Most boys and girls
are limited to specific fields because of what they re parents opinions about them are. The way their
parents raised their sons/daughters is also a factor when they choose their jobs. In the story, X s

The Innovator s Dilemma By Clayton Christensen
Companies stumble for many reasons: arrogance, poor planning, inadequate skills and resources, and
bad luck. The Innovator s Dilemma describes how companies can stumble if they are not prepared to
confront certain types of market disruptions. The author, Clayton Christensen, illustrates this message
by using insights from the hard disk drive industry and explaining nine specific failures of strong
companies. Companies known for innovations and execution that most managers have admired and
strive to emulate. Specifically, Christensen discusses how the logical, experienced decisions of
management that are critical to the success of their companies are also the reasons why they lose their
position of leadership. (Christensen, 1997.) Christensen s message is quite prevalent in almost all
industries. In fact, I work within the restaurant industry and we are currently facing an upcoming
disruptive innovation called the fast casual segment. The fast casual segment is positioned somewhere
between fast food restaurants and casual dining restaurants. Technically, being the hybrid of the two
concepts, providing counter service and offering more customized, freshly prepared food. The fast
casual segment has already disrupted the fast food industry. At the same time, consumer demand for
healthier, real food and increased convenience are further driving a need for disruption in the
restaurant industry. To keep pace, my employer is testing elements of the fast casual model, like

The Pros And Cons Of Biblical Predestination
Throughout time biblical scriptures have been interpreted differently by different religions, scholar s,
and languages. Many theologians have provided different interpretations based off their mentors and
time they lived. Using works from the Sacra Pagina Series, Norton Bible scriptures, and excerpts from
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and teaching of John Calvin this essay will show the vast differences of
interpretations in just one biblical scripture let alone throughout the entire bible and its many
interpretations. Luke 13:23 24 reads Someone asked him, Lord, are only a few people going to be
saved? He said to them, strive to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to
enter and will not be able to. (The King James Bible). Very early in our Christian experiences we are
taught that God is a saving and merciful God, however, some theologians such as John Calvin
believed that God predestined all mankind. They are either predestined to heaven or hell. One of
theologians John Calvin benchmark verses was Luke 13:23. He used this verse to show that our God
is not a saving God, but indeed a selective God. According to John Calvin predestination theory; all
men are predestined for either heaven or hell regardless of their life choices and acceptance of Jesus
Christ as their savior. To examine the Bible verse Luke 13:23, you see that St. Luke recounts that
everyone will be brought to lift through Jesus. However, how does one know that only a few of

How Does Lucy Pevensie Discover Narnia
C.S. Lewis s portrayal of the land Narnia as the character Lucy Pevensie discovers another world in
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe serve as an example of J.R.R
Tolkien s claim of the greatest desire: escape from reality. Any primordial desire a human has that they
cannot achieve is the starting point of a journey. The first view of Narnia suggests a winter
wonderland; however, the reason for why it is winter will be later explained in the story. C.S. Lewis
formulates the order at which each of the Pevensie children discovers Narnia. Lucy is the first to come
across the other world simply by wondering around the house. She is the youngest and her curiosity
leads her into discovering another world. However, after her venturing in Narnia and informing her

two elder children s disbelief of their sister s explanation suggests another connection between
children and fairy tales from Tolkien s point of view. The claim from Tolkien s The Tolkien Reader

Cholera Is An Infectious Bacterial Disease Of The Small...
Cholera is an infectious bacterial disease of the small intestine. This bacterium has spread through the
world covering about 50 countries that came about through 7 pandemics. This disease is a worldwide
public health concern affecting 3 5 million people each year, killing 120,000. Before, it was thought
that cholera spread through a sort of fog known as a miasma however now we know the whole
mechanism for the cholera toxin. It was discovered that cholera is transmitted through fecal oral
transmission and is thus a waterborne bacterium. Although a very deadly and disturbing disease, even
without medical education, this disease can be managed and usually even treated.
Before science was as far advanced as it is today, people were unsure how cholera was spread or
transmitted from person to person. The Europeans and Americans believed it was spread through a
miasma (like dirty fog) and got breathed in. Many people also believed it was brought from various
immigrant populations or was a disease of the poor. John Snow at the time was one of the few people
skeptic of the popular belief that cholera was spread through Miasma. He was a believer instead in a
theory put forth by Girolamo Fracastoro known as the germ theory. The germ theory of disease states
that some diseases are caused by microorganisms and that reproduction within their hosts can cause a
disease. It wasn t until the work performed by Louis Pasteur came about to validate the germ theory of
disease and disprove

The Pardoner s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer is known as the Father of English literature and is considered the greatest middle
age poet, if wasn t for him we all might not be speaking English. The Pardoner s Tale is one of the best
moral stories in the Canterbury Tales. It is also one of Geoffrey Chaucer s most popular stories. It
reinforces that the love of money is the root of all evil. The character, setting, and plot goes together in
the Pardoner s Tale to show that money is the root of all evil. The characters in the story aren t very
nice to start with, but once their greed is awakened and they turn on each other very quickly. The real
problem starts when the three rioters find a large treasure. Instead of splitting the treasure, two of the
rioters plan to kill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rioters are drunk before the first church bell. They are not the most holy or role model citizens,
they swear like sailors and spend a lot of time in brothels. A servant tells the rioterss That death
stabbed one of his friends last night. So they swear an oath to protect each other and to kill death.
Thus, they go on a drunken rage to find death. They find an old man who said he has been searching
for death quite some time. The rioters get enrage when with the old man saying point us to his way.
They start to bully the old man finally says that he just left death a moment ago sitting under an oak
tree. The rioters rush over there, they look and see large amount of treasure under the tree. One of the
rioters says We cannot just take the treasure back to town. People would call us thieves or murders. So
one rioter said that they draw straws and whichever one gets the short one must go to town to get food
and drinks so they can wait out the day till night. Out of them the youngest one pulls the shortest one.
So off he went to the town. As he left. One of the rioters said you know you could trust me like a
brother. Then the rioter says You see we are two, and two are twice as powerful as one. Then the two
rioters start to plan away to kill the youngest one so they could have more gold to themselves. They
come up with a plan to play fight with him and then kill him. The youngest one couldn t

Dear President of LJB Company,
(1) If the LJB Company should decide to become a publicly traded company, a few internal controls
should be implemented to comply with the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). * Management will need to
provide periodic quarterly reports to evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of LJB s internal
controls over financial reporting procedures. * Management should certify the accuracy and fairness
of presentation of their financial statements. * Independent auditor(s) outside of LJB will need to
attest to management s assessment of said internal controls. Additionally, non audit services between
these two parties (LJB and said independent auditor) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I recommend that these checks remain physically secured at all times (by the accountant, or by
delaying delivery to the accountant until he reaches his office). * Due to the unorthodox honor system
of dealing with petty cash, any single employee can withdraw a substantial amount of petty cash in
relative anonymity. This violates two Internal Control Principles: Physical Control and Establishment
of Responsibility. It violates the Physical Control Principle because the petty cash is easily accessible
with no form of physical protection of theft, and it violates the Establishment of Responsibility
Principle because no single person is in charge of the Petty Cash Fund (rather everyone is). This can
be remedied by assigning a custodian to be responsible for the fund, as well as creating a secure area
to store said funds. * These previous points additionally bring up another weakness, though not
actually part of the Internal Control Principles. Though it seems to be LJB s unofficial policy to trust
long term employees, when a desirable opportunity to commit fraud/theft arises, it becomes at the
discretion of the employee to commit these acts for their personal benefit. * Another weakness is LJB
s lack of individual passwords which allows personnel to anonymously use the company computers
and databases. This lack of individual accountability will prevent most attempts to track suspicious
employee activities on company

Philippine American Imperialism
Imperialism is the policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military
force. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, many countries would invade or enter other countries
and take over. They would take over by force and rule harshly in order to get whatever it is they
needed from the country. Often, imperialistic countries were looking for raw materials and to better
their own economy by spreading it into the country they took over. The imperialistic America and
Belgium, each imperialized countries creating short and long lasting effects on the people.
In the year 1902, the United States of America imperialized the Philippines. They did it for the classic
reasons; money and raw materials. While they Americans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

imperialized, they each granted independence. After being granted independence, both countries
began a time of instability, proving that the imperialistic countries were needed in order for society to

Heroin Epidemic
Hilliard as well as the country, is being ravaged by the growing heroin epidemic. Heroin overdoses
have become the leading cause of death in the United States, killing 43,000 people annually. Heroin
has a devastating effect on the individuals, and families of this community. Leaders are few and far
between in Hilliard, and I believe that with enough leaders, heroin can be overcome through effective
and intentional leadership. Leaders who care will help this community by helping heal the
relationships between the addict and their family and community. I believe if this community stands
up, not only can we rehabilitate addicts but heal this community with practices discovered in the Rat
Park experiment.

Within a few months of searching, my church found a pastor who was previously a youth pastor in

more comfortable he began to change things to make the youth group more like his inner city youth
group. I lead by example and embraced the changes until I realized those changes were hurting the

could do ourselves to solve the emerging problems as well as come up with a list of things we would
like to address with out new pastor. We sent a representative to our pastor to make compromises so
that both parties were working together for the good of our youth group. The situation is beginning to

Comparing Sexuality In Stephanie Meyer And Twilight By...
If there is one thing that has not changed in the past one hundred years it is the populations love for a
thrilling, eerie story; including those about vampires. However, what has changed in the last one
hundred years is cultural appropriation and the idea of vampirism itself. So despite being written in
two entirely different centuries with two entirely different vampire etiquettes, the novels Twilight by
young adult author Stephanie Meyer and Dracula by 19th century gothic author Bram Stoker, both use
of the matter of sexuality through characters actions and to help develop the good vs. evil based plot
throughout the stories. Although there are no actual physical acts of sex done by the characters in
either of the two novels, the lust and idea of sexuality is extremely present in the characters behaviors
throughout both. In Twilight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not to feed on humans this makes it all the more difficult for them to resist. It is the physical attraction
as well as reaction Bella has towards Edward that initially brings them together, and what keeps Bella
around. She knows the risk she is taking by being with Edward and consequently being with him is
what got her involved with the evil vampire, James, which created the main conflict in the book. There
is no exception to the physical beauty of the vampires in Dracula either. It is stated several times
throughout the book that creates a longing feeling towards the monsters even though they know it

Abstract The traditional energy networks to smart grids transformation can help in improving the
reliability, performance and manageability. An efficient and real time scheme to detect FDI(False Data
Injection) attacks in smart grids, by exploiting spatial temporal correlations between grid components.
False data injection attacks have recently been introduced as an important class of cyber attacks
against smart grids wide area measurement and monitoring systems. Once the attack is been detected,
the system can take preventive action and alert the manager to take preventative action to sense the
risk and to limit the risk. Defensive strategies is been presented against such attacks.

Marina Abramovic Body Art
Performance Art transforms art from something a person views, in to something one can be a part of.
One part of Performance Art is Body Art, where the artist uses the body to convey the message of their
work. Marina Abramovic is a Performance artist who makes Body Art where she pushes herself to the
limits, testing her endurance. Abramovic s prolific creations, including Rhythm 0 and The Artist is
Present force people out of their comfort zones and to think critically about the world around them. By
analyzing Rhythm 0 and The Artist is Present it becomes clear that Abramovic can make a big
statement with her work.
Abramovic s work had relatively simple structures of set up, as is typical of Body Art. Rhythm 0 was

The Pain Body often has artists mutilating themselves to parallel the pain around them or inside of
them being manifested on the body. In Performance Art it has become a crucial strategy to imprint the
psychic suffering of individual and collective subjects on to the social screen (Jones, Warr). Rhythm 0
does not have Abramovic explicitly harming herself, however, the audience takes it upon themselves
to bring pain to Abramovic s body. The Authentic Activist Artist s Body had artists searching to be
truthful in their work as a critique on society. The artist is constituted in, but also a productive of,
social space (Jones, Warr). Abramovic is changed by the space in the gallery, there in her performance
of Rhythm 0, she is a prop, without agency. The Authentic Activist Artist s Body leads one to interpret
Abramovic s work in a feminist light. Rhythm 0 was performed in 1974 in the middle of the second
wave of the feminist movement. Rhythm 0 has Abramovic acting as an object in the performance
space, it is almost like a literal way of showing how women have been seen as objects throughout
history, rather than as people. In addition the Vietnam War was still raging on in Indochina. Horrific
acts were being committed on both sides of the conflict. Abramovic s Rhythm 0 acts like a mirror to
society, seeing what people will do when they believe there are no consequences, much like in times

strongly believe that as you write more and more about a character, that they begin to reveal more and
more about themselves, from the standpoint that two unintentionally related traits may organically
foster another by extension of themselves, in this way the characters are revealing parts of themselves
to the author before the author reveals them to the reader.

So much is happening in our world that would make one wonder how to survive in this world,
Johnson says, People need to be good to each other and the animals we share this planet with, devote
your energy to things that bring you joy, skip the newspaper and have a treat that takes you back to
your happiest memory instead, what s the worst that could happen?
With Johnson s life experiences and style of writing, it s no wonder that a good story with a criss cross

12 year old Billy and Detective Petra Connor. But no matter what he reads, he says he will always

As a songwriter, photographer, freelance writer, video editor, lotion creator, and now a writer, it s no
wonder why Johnson would be stimulated by this quote Why sometimes I ve believed as many as six
impossible things before breakfast. Alice in Lewis Carroll s, Through the Looking Glass. And if he

Age Of Discovery Essay
What were the Effects of the Age of Discovery? nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Age of Exploration
was a time of struggle and wealth for many European countries. The pursuit of a trade route to the Far

Marco Polo. These countries knew that whoever found the shortest or best route would become rich,
very quickly. Explorers from many European countries embarked on journeys that not even they had

European countries to conquer new lands and to obtain wealth while conquering. After Columbus

trading posts back to their mother countries. Gold, fur, corn, potatoes, tobacco, chocolate, and many
other products were brought back to Europe. The wealth from these products could only be imagined.
The countries would then trade their imports to other countries and make a huge profit. This influx of

  • 2. Mobile Banking for the Unbanked In many developing countries it s common for a person to have a mobile phone but not a bank account. In fact, more than 1 billion people fit this description, and the number is only likely to increase. To that end, many companies are considering how to give residents access to banking services via their handsets. The GSM Association predicts that by 2012, nearly 300 million of the previously unbanked will be using some form of mobile banking. The mistake a lot of us make is to look at the folks at the base of the pyramid and assume that they must need the same types of services we need. The Harvard Business School case study Mobile Banking for the Unbanked explores two very different examples of mobile financial service models: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A subscription model doesn t appeal to the poor at all, Rangan says. They don t want to pay a fee for something they might not use. Moreover, more than half of South Africa s population had no access to a bank account. This was largely because half of the population lived below the poverty line, and banks, understandably, were not eager to serve a moneyless customer base. Banks find it an unprofitable proposition to serve people who make less than three dollars per day, Rangan says. Still, WIZZIT s founders thought there was a noble and viable business model in bringing banking to the poor, via a mobile banking platform that could be used on even the most primitive cell phone. They succeeded in finding an engineer to develop the platform, but quickly ran into a major regulatory roadblock. Per the South African government, only licensed banks were allowed to take deposits. The cost of a license was the equivalent of $34 million a hefty fee for a startup and the South African Reserve Bank was wary of issuing new permits. Hence, the WIZZIT execs began searching for an established banking partner. Time and again the top tier banks turned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Short Summary Of Araby James Joyce tells a story of a young boy around the age of eleven, who lives with his uncle and aunt in an uninhabited house at the end of a blind corner. He likes to play with his friends till late night. Araby also known as the bazaar was the place he wishes to visit. This story is mainly based on the type of place where they live, his fondness toward his friend s sister, and the Araby(bazaar) where he wanted to go. According to the story the place they live sounds awful because as he mentioned The former tenant of our house, a priest, had died in the back drawing room (Joyce 86). This place doesn t sounds adequate enough for a child to live in because it can cause unnecessary fear for the child. Also he was playing in the contaminating place till late night in freezing cold, which can be proven harmful for a child s physical health. Once his aunt send him to market to pick up some of the parcels, on his way he saw drunken men, druggies, and some bad people were cursing on each other. Those were the worst things for a child to see, and a child was not supposed to send to those kind of market as well. Living in this type of environment is dangerous for the child s future because a child learn faster by observing an adult . His uncle and aunt were careless about him. They never paid attention to the things he had been doing during their absence. On the other hand, they should have used all the bad things to give him an example that, if he started doing those things he will never able to be a successful man. He will be stuck there as those people were, and never will able to see a good lifestyle. But his uncle and aunt had never bother themselves to teach him anything. As he likes to play with Mangan everyday. Most of the time Mangan s sister come out to call him for tea, and he (Joyce as a child) likes to watch his sister, every time she come out of her house. A little by little he started liking her, but he was scared to talk to her. Except some casual talks. He was in love with her because everyday he uses different techniques to take a glance at her. Once he murmured: O love! O love! many times for her. He promised her that he will bring something for her whenever he goes to Araby. For a eleven year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Did Thomas Jefferson Influence Neoclassical Architecture Neoclassical architecture began in the mid eighteenth century by the neoclassical movement. It is a style principally derived from the work of the Italian architect Andrea Palladio, the architecture of classical age, and the Marcus Vitruvius Pollio principles. Neoclassical architecture was the answer to simplifying the excesses of the Rocco style with its simpler symmetrical forms, intense use of columns, and a fondness for blank walls. Neoclassicism could be found flourishing in every major city in Europe and the United States. Within this movement, two people stand out for their architectural prominence. Thomas Jefferson from the United States and Robert Adams from Europe. Thomas Jefferson (April 13, 1743 July 4, 1826) was the author of the Declaration of Independence, Governor of the State of Virginia, Ambassador to France, and the third President of the United States of America. With these accomplishments, he was also one of the best architects of the late 18th and early 19th century. In his speech, he starts off with saying that his victory is not for a party but it is for freedom. At the climax of his speech, JFK delivers a call to action which is also the most well known line from his speech: ...ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country. Following that extraordinary remark, he extends that call to the world by asking what they can all do together for the freedom of the world. Type, Purpose, and Audience This speech was not just a ceremonial speech, it also played the praise and blame game with Russia and also casted a vision for America and the role that it would play in the world. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. The Spaniards also erased Inca culture through replacement of Incan architecture and traditions. The Inca had a distinct architecture that showed not only their innovations like stone work and single rooms, but also their power in South America. Once the Spaniards arrived though, the architecture of the Incas was lost and replaced with work of the Spanish showing their power and wealth that they brought to South America. The Incas fancy and elaborate cities were also looted by the Spaniards. Graves were raided and gold was stolen. Atahualpa s palace was stripped of its silver plaques that decorated its entrance. • 9. The Encoding of Contextual Fear Conditioning The formation of new memories requires protein synthesis dependent changes in synaptic structure and plasticity in the hippocampus. Studies in humans and animals suggest that these memories are initially stored in hippocampus but later transferred to cortex for permanent storage. This phenomenon is described as systems consolidation of memories. While the specific role for new protein synthesis in hippocampus in early encoding of memories is established, whether protein synthesis in medial prefrontal cortex play a major role in encoding of memories is unclear. To address this question, we used contextual fear conditioning (CFC) of mouse, a behavior training that induce long lasting memories. A single training session produces robust lifelong memory (8) that can be measured using automated procedures (9). Several studies have used CFC training as a model to study hippocampal cortical communications and mechanisms underlying systems consolidation of memories. Contextual fear memories are initially stored in hippocampus and then moved to medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) for long term storage. We assume that if encoding of contextual fear memories require protein synthesis at both hippocampus and PFC, we will be able to identify translationally active mRNAs in hippocampus and PFC. Because RNAs associated with polyribosomes indicate translational activation, we first isolated polyribosomes from mPFC and hippocampus at two time points (one hour and six hours, hereafter T1 and T2 ... It was hypothesized that changing mass at either end of the slinky would cause it to travel down the stairs slower. An explanation for this is, when adding mass to either end it would actually cause the required force to pull the slinky over. The first process of this experiment was to collect materials. Finding a suitable location for stairs that were uniform in height and width. A stopwatch was used to time the duration of falling down the steps. When pushed the stopwatch was started. Many theologians have provided different interpretations based off their mentors and time they lived. Using works from the Sacra Pagina Series, Norton Bible scriptures, and excerpts from Matthew, Mark, Luke, and teaching of John Calvin this essay will show the vast differences of interpretations in just one biblical scripture let alone throughout the entire bible and its many interpretations. Luke 13:23 24 reads Someone asked him, Lord, are only a few people going to be saved? He said to them, strive to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. (The King James Bible). Very early in our Christian experiences we are taught that God is a saving and merciful God, however, some theologians such as John Calvin believed that God predestined all mankind. They are either predestined to heaven or hell. One of theologians John Calvin benchmark verses was Luke 13:23. He used this verse to show that our God is not a saving God, but indeed a selective God. According to John Calvin predestination theory; all men are predestined for either heaven or hell regardless of their life choices and acceptance of Jesus Christ as their savior. I recommend that these checks remain physically secured at all times (by the accountant, or by delaying delivery to the accountant until he reaches his office). * Due to the unorthodox honor system of dealing with petty cash, any single employee can withdraw a substantial amount of petty cash in relative anonymity. This violates two Internal Control Principles: Physical Control and Establishment of Responsibility. It violates the Physical Control Principle because the petty cash is easily accessible with no form of physical protection of theft, and it violates the Establishment of Responsibility Principle because no single person is in charge of the Petty Cash Fund (rather everyone is). This can be remedied by assigning a custodian to be responsible for the fund, as well as creating a secure area to store said funds. * These previous points additionally bring up another weakness, though not actually part of the Internal Control Principles. Though it seems to be LJB s unofficial policy to trust long term employees, when a desirable opportunity to commit fraud/theft arises, it becomes at the discretion of the employee to commit these acts for their personal benefit. * Another weakness is LJB s lack of individual passwords which allows personnel to anonymously use the company computers and databases. This lack of individual accountability will prevent most attempts to track suspicious employee activities on company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She knows the risk she is taking by being with Edward and consequently being with him is what got her involved with the evil vampire, James, which created the main conflict in the book.
