Dr. Rajeev Kumar discusses concepts of health and well-being from different perspectives. Health can be viewed biologically as a state of complete physical and mental well-being, or ecologically as a dynamic equilibrium between humans and their environment. The WHO defines health more holistically as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. Biopsychosocial models also consider the interplay of biological, psychological and social factors. Dr. Kumar questions whether current models fully capture health and well-being, and proposes that spiritual factors may also influence public health from a community perspective.
