Launch Get out the following four assignments for your homework packet -Review Sheet from Monday -Enzyme Letter from Tuesday -Enzyme Worksheet from Tuesday -Cell cycle worksheet from Thursday If time answer the following question: What are the three main stages of the cell cycle and what happens in each?

MITOSIS The process a cell uses to copy its DNA and create two identical daughter cells
Pre-Mitosis: INTERPHASE This is where the cell spends most of its time Cell grows, gain nutrients, copies DNA DNA is “just chillin” in the nucleus
Interphase = In-between
Step 1: PROPHASE DNA condenses into chromosomes Chromosomes pair up with their exact copy Nucleus breaks down
Prophase = Pairs
Step 2: METAPHASE Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell Chromosomes are attached to fibers that stretch from the poles to the middle of the cell
Metaphase = Middle
Step 3: ANAPHASE The stage when chromosomes separate Each singular chromosome pulled to opposite sides of the cell by fibers in the cell
Anaphase = Apart
Step 4: TELOPHASE Cell membrane pinches off to form two cells Nuclear envelope reforms around DNA Chromosomes uncondense
Telophase = Two Cells
