Kohlberg s Theory Of The Development Of Moral Judgement
Critically Evaluate Kohlberg s Theory of the Development of Moral Judgement
Lawrence Kohlberg (1927 1987) further developed the works of Piaget (1896 1980) on moral
development. This essay will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Kohlberg s theory in a critical
manner, looking at the positive aspects of his research and the disadvantages of the types of situations
he gave in his experiments, the universal accuracy of his results and the controversial findings of sex
differences in regards to morality. Kohlberg advanced Piaget s theory of moral development by
interviewing 10 13 year old boys to find out how they would attempt to resolve moral issues. These
issues varied between situations that involved obeying the law, authority ... Show more content on

Although the universal support for Kohlberg s theory is impressive, it does not actually prove that
people went through all the stages in the same order that Kohlberg predicted they would. As these
participants were not monitored throughout every stage of their life we cannot be certain that they all
went through the same stages in the same order, all we can defer from this is that people seem to be at
the stages that Kohlberg predicted they would be at. However Ann Colby and Colleagues (1983) did
do a longitudinal study where they interviewed Kohlberg s original participants five times over three
to four year intervals, lasting for twenty years in total. The results of the study showed that all the
participants went through the stages in the same order, never skipping a stage. These findings offer
strong evidence to support Kohlberg s theory of moral development as, unlike the previous study
mentioned, there is now longitudinal evidence to support that these stages happen in the same order in
many people, and not just assuming that it happened like in Kohlberg s original study (Shaffer Kipp,
2007).
However, there are limits to how far Kohlberg s theory of morality can be taken. When doing the
research to develop his theory Kohlberg only interviewed male participants, completely ignoring the
possibility that females could have a different outlook on morality to males. Carol Gilligan (1982,
1993) recognised that this was an issue with

Edward Gein Research Paper
Edward Theodore Gein was born on August 27th in 1906 in the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Even at
the beginning, it seems as though he had a troubled home life. Upon moving to a small farm outside
Plainfield, his father was always working whether it was as a carpenter and tanner, or at the farm.
When he isn t working however, he is drinking. As such, he is not around for the major family
decisions, leaving them to Ed s mother Augusta, whom was very religious. Ed s father died in 1940.
Four years later, his brother Henry died whilst battling fires. That left Ed and his mother. But sadly,
that was shortly lived as his mother died from a stroke that same year. This caused doubts for Ed. He
has considered multiple times to get transsexual surgery, but turned against it because he thought there
were better ways of turning female . For this, among other odd personality traits, he became secluded,
never talking to those in the community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He developed a very unhealthy interest in the anatomy of the female body, looking through medical
encyclopedias and pornographic magazines. During World War 2, he was fascinated by the medical
experiments performed in the concentration camps. After all this, he still wanted to know more about
the female body. So, he went to multiple cemeteries and dug up female bodies, dissecting the body. He
would take the skin from the body and wear them as suits to dance in, use different organs to make
furniture, or would fondle the victim s genitalia, wearing the underwear that they have worn or he has
put on the body. But this isn t all, he would save specific parts for fancier days wearing the face, scalp,
or vest of the bodies torso and breasts. Gein felt that this would help him achieve contentment by
putting on a different gender and also made him feel closer to his

Kate Chopin s “The Storm” Essay
The short story, The Storm by Kate Chopin is about a love that could never be until it briefly was. The
point that Chopin was trying to get across was that Calixta and Alcee had a strong passion for one
another, and perhaps loved each other, but they could never have been married because of their social
differences. It is a passionate, but brief affair between two married people from different social classes
that takes place during a cyclone in Louisiana around 1898. The story symbolizes the freedom that a
woman felt inside after the rain during a time when women had no freedom. (Firtha lesson 2 page 1)

She was a revelation in that dim, mysterious chamber; as white as the couch she lay upon.
(Chopin807) Chopin goes on to say; The generous abundance of her passion, without guile or trickery,
was like a white flame which penetrated and found response in depths of his own sensuous nature that
had never yet had been reached. (807) She stated that text because Calixta had never felt that way with
her own husband. Also, Chopin refers to her mouth being a fountain of delight. (807) She adds, And
when he possessed her, they seemed swoon together at the very borderline of life s mystery. (807)This
must have been when they reached their climax. They were over whelmed by ecstatic joy.

Shakespeare In Love Combination of Romantic Comedy and Shakespearean Tragedy
William Shakespeare once told us, All the World s a Stage and now his quote can be applied to his
own life as it is portrayed in the recent film, Shakespeare In Love. This 1998 motion picture prospered
with the creative scripting of Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman and direction of John Madden. The
combined effort of these men, on top of many other elements, produced a film that can equally be
enjoyed by the Shakespeare lover for its literary brilliance, or for the romantic viewer who wants to
experience a passionate love story.

shows up to the auditions, dressed as a man named Thomas Kent. Following the audition, Viola
becomes afraid of being found out and runs away. Shakespeare runs after her up to her mansion where
there is currently a party being held, and he asks to speak with Thomas Kent. At this party,
Shakespeare becomes captivated by the beautiful Viola at the same time that her father is promising
her to Lord Wessex. After seeing him dance with Viola, Lord Wessex chases Shakespeare away, but
not before asking his name. Shakespeare is quick to tell him that his name is Christopher Marlowe, the
name of the current playwright for The Curtain Theatre. Having found his muse, Shakespeare soon
hands a complete script of Act I to his actors, now calling the play Romeo and Juliet . He is in a
blissful state until he receives a letter from Viola, telling that she must marry Lord Wessex. After a
man to man conversation about this with Thomas Kent, Shakespeare realizes that Thomas Kent is
Viola. After this, the passionate couple spends as much time embracing as possible, whether in
rehearsal or in bed, except of course for the times that Will is busy writing down the numerous
inspired lines running through his mind. They spend so much time together that Lord

My Application For South Africa
My Application for South Africa 2016 The first time I was introduced to South Africa was last year
during choir. For choir we sang a South African ritual. This enticed me to look into the culture of
South Africa to find out more things about my new found interest. During this investigation I found
out that South Africa is prominent for their unique wild life, it is the only country which has hosted the
world cup for cricket, rugby, and soccer, the vast history due to the colonialization of Africa by
Europe, and the luxurious bodies of water found in South Africa. Also during my research, I found out
that Woodberry offers an exchange program in South Africa. I became extremely interested in this
program. I would love to do this program so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These include Nelson Mandela s house, Robben Island, Groot Constantia, The Company s Garden,

Another major part of South Africa is the sports seen there. South Africa s main sports are rugby,
cricket, and soccer. I am a huge sports fanatic, however I am not as interested in South African sports
as I would like to be. South Africa has such a dedication to its sports that it is the only country which
has hosted the world cup in rugby, soccer, and cricket. South Africa hosted the rugby world cup in
1995, the cricket world cup in 2003, and the soccer world cup in 2010. I would love to see the
locations of where these important games were played, which brings me to my next point, South
Africa s unique sights. South Africa is also known for its breathtaking sights which include the Kruger
National Park, Table Mountain, Blyde River Canyon, and the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve just
to name a few. At these sights you can either see the unique animals of South Africa in their natural
habitat, or look over all of South Africa from the mountain and the canyon. The culture of South
Africa is one of the major reasons why I would love to be able to participate in this unique
opportunity. I also think I would be the right choice for this program due to the person that I am. If I

Essay On Birth Defect
It is hard for family to be informed that a child is born with some kind of birth defect. Parents are
under tremendous stress once they are informed about a defect and then have to decided what they
should do to help fix their child s defect. The day a parent finds out they are pregnant, most people are
very excited. No one ever wants their baby to be born with a birth defect. A special group of parents
must be chosen to have a child with a defect. There are only a few options to choose from when a
parent has to pick what they should do to care their baby. Most parents are willing for their child to
have surgery if the surgery will help, but there is always some who fear for their baby to undergo
surgery. For the parents who are against the options of their baby having surgery they choose
abortions or getting their child prescribed medicine. Parents wanting their child to have surgery trust
surgeons to operate on their child and are okay that their child may be a little different than other
children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today the world is blessed to have many intelligent doctors and surgeons to help fix an infant s defect.
The most common birth defects are a cleft lip or palate and a heart defect. To fix these common
defects surgery is usually an option. To let a child undergo surgery is a very scary thing to do. When
any parent makes the choice of surgery to help fix their child s defect they have to also think about the
risks the child can have during surgery. To be put to sleep is always dangerous there is always a
chance the patient may not wake up, although the chance is slim. Anyone who makes the choice of
surgery has to be strong and believe in the doctors and surgeons to operate on their child. Depending
on how bad a child s birth defect is determines the level of help a child needs to mend the defect.. The

Queenship In Robin s Essay On Hatshepsut
While Egyptian monuments did not record individualities of ancient Egyptian queens, in the article,
Robins discussed four queens in detail to speculate their characters and to demonstrate that kingship
was complemented by queenship. I will focus on her argument on Hatshepsut and respond to it.
In her research on Hatshepsut, Robins argued that Hatshepsut identified herself as a king during her
queenship to build up power. She stated that Hatshepsut used god s wife as her title, reminiscent of
Ahmose Nefertari. Further, Robins talked about Hatshepsut s kingship and argued that Hatshepsut
could become a king due to her strong personality and the coruler political system in ancient Egypt.
Moreover, Robins talked about Hatshepsut s daughter s important role. Then she discussed Hatshepsut
s unusualness and argued that she was a fusion of female and male. Finally, Robins argued that
Thutmose III was willing to rule with Hatshepsut and didn t hate her. ... Show more content on

First, Hatshepsut had a forceful character so that she knew how to choose male officials. The fortunes
of these people were tied to her, so they were willingly controlled by a female king. Second, two kings
could rule simultaneously according to the Egyptian political system, allowing Hatshepsut to continue
her kingship without expel Thutmose III. Last but not least, Hatshepsut was not a pacifist, but rather,
she had a fighting character. The first and second hypotheses were persuasive, because they were
based on solid supportive sources. The third argument, nevertheless, lacked adequate and convincing

Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman Essay
Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman
In the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, the central thesis that he tries to point out is
that emotional intelligence may be more important than I.Q. in determining a person s well being and
success in life. At first I didn t know what Goleman was talking about when he said emotional
intelligence, but after reading the book I have to say that I agree completely with Goleman. One
reason for my acceptance of Goleman s theory is that academic intelligence has little to do with
emotional life. To me, emotions can be just as intelligent as your I.Q. In this essay I hope to provide
sufficient evidence to show why I agree with Goleman s thesis on emotional intelligence.
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goleman states, Emotional aptitude is a meta ability, determining how well we can use whatever other
skills we have, including raw intellect. People that have high emotional intelligence are more likely to
be satisfied and effective in their lives. Others who have trouble with this cannot manage themselves
so their ability for successful work and clear thought are altered.
In contrast to this, you can say that I.Q. is better than emotional intelligence. Having a high I.Q. does
offer a lot of benefits. Goleman states that people with a high I.Q. are ambitious, productive, and
uneasy with sexual and sensual experience. That high I.Q. people are the caricature of the intellectual,
adept in the realm of mind but inept in the personal world. And all of this is just for the men. Goleman
states, The profiles differ slightly for men and women. High I.Q. women have intellectual confidence,
are fluent in expressing their thoughts and have a wide range of intellectual and aesthetic interests.
Goleman also does point out that these are extremes and that everyone mixes I.Q. and emotional
intelligence in varying degrees. But this does give us an instructive look at what each of these
dimensions adds to a person s qualities.
In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Goleman talks about two psychologists (Sternberg and Salovey)
who have taken a wider view on intelligence and give terms of what they think it takes to lead a
successful life. They mention five

Speaking from a liberal point of understanding, the development of international institutions is very
vital. Most powerful states have relied on international institutions and economic interdependence. I
believe this because international institutions are one of the most important efforts for the achievement
of world peace and possibly stop North Koreans leader from making terrorist threats. International
institutions can set standards of behavior and verify compliance and resolve disputes. Also, the
economic interdependence has been a huge key factor in the cooperation and peace of those States.
Many of the states that are considered speaking upon the North Koreas dangerous efforts against them
are States that have been trading goods for decades. They are all relying on each other for something
because each cannot produce efficiently for themselves. We are worried. If anything can go wrong, it
will go wrong, A nuclear war is totally unacceptable to everybody (Duterte). Creating a stronger
international institution to set standards of behavior, disputes and verify compliance would be virtuous
in halting a war. In the long run, I hope we can expect some type of cooperation soon between North
Korea because the United States is not the only State that is

The Influences and Strategies of Female Abolitionists
Slavery was a growing problem in America in the 19th century and anti slavery supporters as well as
pro slavery supporters were fighting to gain as much support as possible. There were many strategies
used, but one that was exceedingly effective was the involvement of women. Female anti slavery
abolitionist societies were created all over the North. Beginning in 1833 Philadelphia, Boston, and
New York in 1836, spreading to other cities like Providence, Rhode Island, Portland, Maine, and
quickly spreading through the countryside. By the late 1830s there were female societies in
communities as small as Boylston, Massachusetts, with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. These local
societies were in most ways like the many thousands of other women s voluntary organizations that
were emerging in Northern communities in the early nineteenth century. Female abolitionists were
determined to have their opinions heard in a controversial political society dominated by men. One
strategy used by female abolitionists was the use powerful oratory to spread the word of the abolition
cause. Angelina Grimke was a female abolitionist who toured the North speaking. She had a very large
impact on society and shed light on a perspective of slavery that had never been seen before. Grimke
was a daughter of a wealthy southern judge and was raised in a prominent family. She used her own
experiences to illustrate the evils of slavery. She spoke to crowds of sympathetic listeners, hostile pro

The Research Into Leisure Constraints
As more models of analysis are being made around the research of leisure there has been a shift in
terminology. There has been a movement away from the term barrier to the more inclusive term
constraint. In addition, we do not mean to imply that the existence of barriers automatically leads to
non participation in leisure activities. Individuals are not passive; instead, they often successfully or
unsuccessfully negotiate through constraints (Jackson, 1995; Crawford et al, 1991).
There have been many models developed to analyze the literature on constraints/ barriers. Many of
these models have been criticized for their lack of insight into an individual s decision making process
and their static approach. What is evident is that there is no consensus on what is the best model or
approach to take. The research into leisure constraints continues to grow. As far as leisure participation
or nonparticipation are concerned...constraints are encountered hierarchically, first at the interpersonal
level. Leisure preferences are formed when interpersonal constraints (eg. stress, socialization,
perceived self skill) are absent or their effects have been confronted through some combination of
privilege and exercise of human will. Next, depending on the type of activity, the individual may
encounter constraints at the interpersonal level (eg. interpersonal interactions); this could happen in
activities requiring at least one partner or co participant but would be less relevant in the

My Family And The United States
My life was split over two distinct culture as my family moved back and forth between Syria and the
United States. My family immigrated to the U.S. in the early eighties and moved back to Syria two
years after I was born. I completed my first and second grades in Syrian public schools before
immigrating to the United States in 2001. I was first placed in english second language classes, which
I completed in 9 months. I then continued my fourth grade in regular classrooms. These two years
exposed me to various cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I interacted with people from all around
the world, which cultivated my cultural awareness and shaped my identity. However, I was harassed
several times because of my ethnic and religious background. A student once told me go back to your
country, we don t want you here . It had never occurred to me that I was perceived as foreign even
though I am a U.S. citizen.
In late 2003, when I was ten years old, my family and I moved back to Damascus, Syria. I postponed
my education in public elementary schools where everything was taught in Arabic. This rough
transition presented me with numerous cultural and educational challenges. I had to adapt to the
educational system in Syria and improve my Arabic skills to master its dense curriculum. I struggled
during my first year but managed to catch up, topping my class. My earlier experience in the United

Essay On T. E. Lawrence The Battle Of Aqaba
T.E. Lawrence demonstrated his innovative leadership by subverting the Ottomans through depleting
the Turkish defenses at Aqaba, therefore bolstering the Allied Powers. Lawrence condemned the
continuing practice, used by both his British superiors and the Arabs, of attacking the railroads leading
to Medina. Specifically, with Medina heavily fortified, there was no purpose for continually
blockading and disrupting the Hejaz Railway. Instead, he suggested, [the Arabs] needed to spread the
Turks thin by expanding the warfront as much as possible (Anderson 306). Furthermore, Lawrence
expounded his incredible plan to cross the treacherous and barren Nefud Desert and attack the

Lawrence with sufficient manpower to initiate a proper siege at Aqaba. Consequently, Lawrence
forged an alliance with Auda to plan for the Battle of Aqaba (Wilson 396 397). Lawrence s partnership
with Auda brought about a bloody attack at Aba el Lissan, where after a squadron of Turks killed only
a few Arabs, the Arabs responded by killing 300 men and captured the remaining 300 as prisoners.
Lawrence, who at the time was at Wejh, subsequently interrogated six Syrian Arabs who offered

Moving-Average Temperature Equations
It is difficult to apply any meaning to this variability from the moving average temperature but
someone could make reasonable assumptions about why this difference in variability exists. One such
assumption could be because you cannot give the entire globe a single temperature. It is, naturally, an
aggregation of many localized temperatures, which must be averaged or at least used to calculate a
median to negate the effect of outliers. The aggregated global calculation inherently smooths out the
impacts of localized variances on the variability of the overall global value. Observation summary:

certain that the regression model represented by the trend line better fits the global temperature data
than the model for the Seattle temperature data. This matches the observation we can see in the graph
of greater dips and rises in the line representing the data set. It is reasonable to assume that, with more
data, we may be more likely to see a change in the direction of the trend line for Seattle (at only 68%

The Golden Legend By Nadeem Aslam
The novel The Golden Legend by Nadeem Aslam is one filled with many thought provoking scenes.
The novel follows the misfortune that surrounds Nargis and her friends and family. From these events
I found that religious intolerance was one of the main driving forces behind why the events occurred.
Religious intolerance is when a religious group refuses to tolerate practices or beliefs based on
religious grounds. Throughout the novel there are many references to both Christian and Islamic
prejudices and intolerance towards the other religion. In Pakistan, 97% of the population are Muslim
with the remaining 3% being comprised of other religions including Christianity and Judaism;
contrastingly in the United States, 1% of the population is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aslam uses the characters in The Golden Legend to depict a Muslim society where there is peace,
while still displaying the underlying current of religious domination which controls the Islamic
society. Lily and Helen are targeted and receive little respect simply for being Christian. Nargis is
treated to the same hostility, although not to the same extent, because she has befriended and supports
them. This hostility is a catalyst to Nargis, Helen and Imran s
Lisa Curtis (2016) writes about Pakistan s history with regard to religious minorities. She mentions the
drive behind creating a true Islamic state and how this has affected the treatment of religious
minorities. Curtis describes the 1980s as a key period in the establishment of the discord between
Pakistan s Muslims and the country s religious minorities, such as Christians. With the tightening of
blasphemy laws in this period by Zia ul Haq more in a push towards having a single religion country,
resulted in an imbalance of rights between Pakistan s religions. Curtis states that blasphemy
allegations were often fabricated, and still are today, in an attempt to intimidate minorities. Blasphemy
laws are very vague with little detail about what a violation entails. But the part of the laws that is
most related to intolerance is that there is no requirement of evidence for the charge of blasphemy.
This results in many innocent people being accused of blasphemy simply for their religion. In The

Possibility Of ADHD
More and more parents pay attention to the problems of child mental illness as the rate of mental
disorder increased in children. But studies have shown that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD), one of the most common mental disorder in children and adolescents, might be
overdiagnosed in younger children compared to others in the same grade. The health news article Why
a child s birth date predicts whether they ll be medicated for ADHD that is published in The Sydney
Morning Herald discusses the ADHD diagnoses process and argues that the probability for the
youngest children in the class to get ADHD medication is significantly higher. The study shows that
children s immature behaviors may be misdiagnosed as symptoms of ADHD. The ... Show more

Although there is some systematic uncertainty of the research study, the article reveals the fact that
children s immature behavior can be detected as signals rather than noises, which in fact cause bias in
the diagnosis judgment. As a result, misdiagnosis or overdiagnosis in younger children may lead to
errors such as false positive and false negative. Detecting and distinguishing signal and noise may be
the most important when making an accurate diagnosis. Since the whole diagnosis is mostly based on
subjective factor, which is the behavior of the child, the accurate detection by the pediatrician and a
precise criteria of the diagnosis is required. In order to decrease the misdiagnosis of ADHD on
younger children, the recommendation is that before making a diagnosis judgement, try to make a
long time observation on not just the children s behavior, but also other influential factors such as
family background as the child grow up. As the accuracy of the diagnosis result improve, more
children, whether they have ADHD or not, will have a much better childhood experience and

Romeo And Juliet Comparative Essay
Baz Luhrman s filmed adaptation of William Shakespeare s play, Romeo + Juliet was released in 1996
and starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes as the leading roles. The film brought the ancient
script to a modern time based in Verona, Italy. The Montagues and Capulets are represented as enemy
mafia empires and swords are replaced with guns. This analytical essay will examine the various
dramatic elements featured in the film, such as, roles and relationships, tension and the mood and
atmosphere displayed throughout the film. Similar to the original script, the film focuses heavily on
the roles and relationships between characters, especially Romeo and Juliet s love arc. Viewers
experience Romeo and Juliet s tragic love story progress over the weekend, from their first meeting at
the party to their double suicide at the tomb. The films shows viewers that their relationship with one
another is the key relationship in the film. The majority of the film revolves about their love for each

Benjamin Franklin s Plan For Self Improvement
Benjamin Franklin s plan for self improvement was quite a complex one. He knew that he had certain
areas of work in his life that he wanted to better. Among these areas were temperance, silence, order,
resolution, frugality, industry, sincerity, justice, moderation, cleanliness, tranquility, chastity, and
humility. His take on silence was to, Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling
conversation. For tranquility; it was, Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or
unavoidable. Lastly, he looked at helping his efficiency with frugality, which he saw as, Make no
expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing. Benjamin Franklin s plans for self

Franklin defined this as, Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable. This went
along great with silence. Franklin was basically adopting the idea of cutting all unnecessary things out
of his life, in order to make it more effective in general. His virtue of tranquility also benefited society
greatly. Like silence, this gave less of a chance of uproar when things happened. If Franklin acted as if
small things were such a big deal, then it would lead everyone else in society to overreact as well. If
he acted as if nothing was wrong when small accidents happened, then it would take stress from the
communities as well. Because he decided that tranquility was a virtue to impose upon himself, it
affected society positively, because they no longer needed to be worried about every tiny thing that

Symbolism In Everything That Rises Must Converge By OConnor
In Everything that Rises Must Converge , it appears to be what is a simple story. It seems that O

with abstract religion symbolism. Mrs. Chestny holds a different opinion about it she thinks that all
blacks should rise, but on their own side of the fence. Because she offers a penny to a small black
child, in the point of view of her son she is. With all the humiliation that Julian gets by a child s

Spider Man and Spider Woman
In comic books, certain archetypes exist; the strong man, the detective, the magician, the hero, the anti

The Management Of The Leisure And Hospitality Sector
The management of the leisure and hospitality sector needs to understand the perception of young
students towards adopting a career in the industry. This is important because a shortage of skilled
workers in the sector can lead to great difficulties. According to Marchante, Ortega, and Pagan,
(2003), skills shortage can adversely affect the productivity of the firm due to not meeting the quality
requirements and delays in the introduction of new services for the customers. Moreover, poor
retention rates can lead to additional problems including increased cost because of training and
recruiting the employees (Kusluvan and Kusluvan, 2000).

Most of the existing literature on the perception of students about a career in the leisure and hospitality
industry states that the students have mostly negative perception about a career in the leisure and
hospitality industry (Teng, 2008). The interest of students in the industry has decreased over time
(Fraser, 2003).
The attitude towards the leisure and hospitality sector of the Generation Y is influenced by different
factors such as incentive systems, salary, career opportunities, and the opportunity to travel (Getz,
1994). However, according to Gustafason (2002, p12) the industry operates at only about 4 percent
profit margins and so cannot offer high wages to the employees.
The studies have revealed other factors besides pay that result in lack the motivation and
determination of pursuing a career in the hospitality sector. According to Ross (1997), students
indicated that they the demand of direct customer interaction, and acting courteously and friendly with
the customers at all times is a major stressor for them. In addition, Fraser (2003) found that most of
the students did not like the prospect of being pleasant with everyone all the time. About 68 percent of

The safety of geological disposal of highly radioactive waste depends highly on the characteristics of
the rock formations around it from which a repository would be hollowed out. Many geological
formations are believed to have remained undisturbed for millions and millions of years, it appeared
technically possible to isolate radioactive materials from the environment until they decayed high
enough so that the level of the radioactive material is not harmful.
Scientific confidence about the subject on the deep geologic disposal has been more difficult to apply

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Gettysburg Address
In a time in which the United States was facing one of its greatest crises, the President at the time,
Abraham Lincoln, delivered a speech that became one of his most famous addresses of all time. His
speech carried two primary purposes; reunification and remembrance. The structure of the address was
to remind people of the past, get them to reflect on present events, and get them thinking about the
future. He filled his words with emotion, asking the people to take the sacrifices of brave men to heart.
Abraham Lincoln s desire for the reunification of the country could not have been expressed more
clearly, and emotionally than during his Gettysburg Address. The Gettysburg Address was a short
piece of work that carried powerful words throughout its entire structure. In the beginning, President
Lincoln started his address with those ever famous words, Four score and seven years ago... While
these words are famous, it is the rest of the opening ...our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a
new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal
(Lincoln) that carries the powerful message. He uses this opening to remind those in attendance about
the beginnings of their nation and their government. He then moves on to speak about the present,
speaking to the fact that the nation is currently at war with itself. Doing this stacks on the first point,
moving his audience to focus on the present issues. Finally Abraham Lincoln goes

scene in which Neal had to shoot his gun and break a window in a barn. He made the shooting motion,
but the sound of the shot had not appeared until about one minute had passed. He and the Mayor, the

Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel published in 1950. The novel takes place in the
futuristic American society where technology dominates in people s lives. This is an era of prosperous
technological advances, but people s life quality is bad. The people live their life without knowledge,
wisdom, and self awareness. People are not critical because all books are banned, and illegal. The

Commentary on The Poem of the Cid Essay
Commentary on The Poem of the Cid Poetry played a vital role in the dissemination of information
during the Crusade period. It provided a compact, easily memorized way of spreading news in a time
bereft of the benefit of mass printing. According to Michael Routledge, who penned a chapter on
Crusade songs and poetry in The Oxford Illustrated History of the Crusades, poetry was not only a
way of recording and spreading news of current events, but also served to record and extoll the virtues
and values of the ruling Medieval aristocracy. These values included commitment to one s lord, and an

As a free agent, so to speak, the Cid would have been able to claim authority over whatever territory
he conquered, and could even wage war against his former lord (Nelson 1). Instead, the Cid continues
to carry out his duties as a vassal in absentia. The Cid s adventures take him deep into the interior of
Moorish Spain and yield a multitude of spoils. Throughout the poem, the Cid sends Alfonso a share of
these riches, as a token of his loyalty. On three separate occasions, the Cid sends his loyal vassal, the
knight Minaya, to deliver horses taken in battle to Alfonso. The horses, eventually totaling 330, serve
as a catalyst for the Cid regaining his lord s favor. The first attempt fails, but the second gains the Cid
the right to be reunited with his wife and two daughters. The third equine gift, after his conquest of
Valencia and subsequent defeat of a Muslim army sent to relieve the city, gains him back his former
status. In addition to portraying the Cid as a an exemplar of what a loyal vassal should be, the Poem of
the Cid also serves as a guide on how to be a excellent lord. He is generous to his followers and is
respectful of their ideas and advice. He trusts the loyal Minaya to act as his intermediary to Alfonso.
During the trial to end the Poem, the Cid s vassals offer up a challenge to arms in order to protect his
honor (Nelson 1) The University of Kansas s Lynn Nelson sees the Cid s reconciliation gifts as a test
of Alfonso s honor. She says the gifts

Politics And Economic Development Of Angola
Politics play a crucial role in the success of any economy. The field of political economy is, thus,
crucial in demonstrating the manner politics, law and institutions alter the course a country s economic
development. Politics is an integral part of an economy since it is used to allocate scarce resources
within a state. Ideally, political economy refers to a mixture of sociology, politics, economics, history
and philosophy, which integrates adequate evidence to examine how individuals exist within societies.
Although the partnership between China and Angola dates back to 1960s and 1970s, over the recent

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Literary Analysis
Romanticized stories are those that show an idyllic yet unrealistic view of reality. It s the picturesque
quality of romance that draws the reader in. One example of this is in An Occurence at Owl Creek
Bridge by Ambrose Bierce. In An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge, Bierce increases the impact of the
story s ending by romantically depicting Farquhar s escape and following the romantic portrayal with
a sudden snap back to reality. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge follows a man named Peyton
Farquhar before, during, and after his execution. The ending of the story is told to seem like Farquhar
heroically escapes the execution and makes it back to his loving wife, however, in the last paragraph it
is made clear that the romantically described escape was just what flashed before his eyes during his
death. The romantic depiction of his imagined escape is what makes the ending so powerful. It brings
the reader on a happy journey before harshly turning back to reality. ... Show more content on

Quality Tech Gaps The luxury segment may be off limits, but some Chinese companies have been able
to move somewhat up market. SAIC successfully entered the high end market in the last few years

has also won market share by gathering its high end products together under one nameplate, Emgrand.
Overall, however, few Chinese carmakers have been able to establish a reputation for quality and
comfort. Sometimes this is merely a matter of lagging consumer perception, but often there are still
quality and technology gaps between foreign and Chinese brands. Analysts said many Chinese
companies also tend to face operational challenges. Even if a company has mastered advanced

society, because they are the ones who grow up to be the next generation.

I think teenagers should volunteer more often, he said. The definition of civic duty is literally the
activities that one does to serve their community. Teens don t often think about how big their role is in
society... said Bailey. When I was younger, I was in all sorts community projects. Bailey would like to
see more teens signing up to volunteer, but he is very strong about his opinion that it should be a
choice. He thinks adults should steer teenagers in the right direction, and then let them make the
decisions. Being a teenager is a good time to learn how to make responsible decisions. It should be
voluntary, says Bailey. You can lead a horse to water, but you can t make them drink.
My Civic Duties I find myself very lucky to live in the United States of America. Sadly, in many other
countries teenagers like me are much less fortunate and have fewer rights. What is even more sad to
me is that many teenagers take for granted the rights they inherit as U.S. citizens. One example is that
some teens actually take up the opportunity to drop out of high school whenever they get the chance.
It upsets me that they don t continue with their education and become a better educated citizen,
especially considering it is free.
As an American, I share the right of free speech with all other citizens. I also reserve the right to drive.
As of age fourteen, I am legally

Compare And Contrast Hovanness Toumanian Genocide And...
For centuries throughout their cultural history, the Armenian people have been maltreated; however in
this essay, I ll focus solely on the period from 1850 1915, which is just before the occurrence of the
Armenian genocide. The historic Armenian homelands were controlled by two empires called the
Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire. The Ottoman Empire which controlled Western Armenia,
was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled Eastern Armenia was
ruled by the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was divided into six vilayets called
Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert, Sivas, and Erzurum, while the remnants of Eastern Armenia was
divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led to this disheartening division of the
Armenians fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be personified through Armenian works of art
such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness Toumanian s writings. In this essay, I will compare
Eastern Armenia versus Western Armenia through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Hovanness Toumanian s In the Armenian Mountains he writes, But frequently have the black
hordes of the scorching desert come and struck hard, repeatedly, at our noble caravan, in the Armenian
Mountains, those blood stained mountains. Yet our caravan confused, terrified, plundered, massacred,
and torn asunder, ever bears its innumerable wounds, in the Armenian Mountains, those mourning
mountains (Kudian 3). In this quote, Toumanian applies the phrase black hordes to symbolize the
Soviet Union and Russian Empire who came to battle the Armenians and conquer the remaining
Eastern division of their native land. The author educates the audience by using symbolism to portray
how the Armenians were caught off guard, left for dead, and as a result their people were being forced
to comply with the newly enforced Russian

Influence Of The Modern Sports Industry
Different societies have different standards dictating how people should dress, eat, and how their
bodies should look. Recently, in developed countries, societies promote enhancement supplements and
medications in their standards for what its members should aspire to use. Because of this, men face
increasingly more pressure to take these products so they can comply with social norms. The modern
sports industry shows this increasing trend in male consumption of supplements. In 2013, 45% of
collegiate male athletes in a study reported using some sort of nutritional supplement during their
training (Darvishi). This supports the idea that in modern American advertisements, advisors place
increasingly more pressure on men to take synthesized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advertisers intentionally include a bland background so viewers focus on the only other figure
present in the photograph: a lone man wearing gym clothes. The advertisement does not show the man
s face, but does display his physique clearly. The man is large and muscular, and he appears to flex his
muscles to show their outlines clearly. The absence of the man s face in the image shows how the
advertisers portray the man s physique as the primary focus of the image by stripping the man of a
unique identity, therefore mystifying him. By making his identity irrelevant, the advertisement seeks
to present the man as the standard for physical perfection that all men should seek to achieve. The
words used in the advertisement also aim to present the man as a dominant figure. The advertisers
intend for two words to stand out. They bold, underline, and completely capitalize the words BOSS IT
in the upper right hand dominant corner of the advertisement. By telling men to boss their workout,
the advertisers appeal to the traditional image of the dominant male figure. The advertisement tells
men to Walk in. Tear it up. Walk away. These words further imply that men should dominate their
work out, however, by also telling them to simply walk away, the advertisers imply that the
supplement will allow men to tear up their workout in a casual and effortless manner. This will allow
men to walk away in the same way the man shown in the advertisement walks away, without even

The Epidemic Of Disease On The Continent Of Africa
The topic of disease on the continent of Africa has been discussed in increasing frequency over the
past three decades. Ideas regarding disease tend to center around the idea that disease can be
eliminated by a one step cure. This viewpoint is flawed because it excludes other factors influencing
disease. In this paper, I will argue that there are many factors that influence the presence of disease on
a continent. More specifically, I will be focusing on Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) in the
countries of Kenya, Uganda, and the Congo. To do this, I will explore publications focused on how the
history of disease, colonialism, the environment, social environment, and influence of organizations
from countries outside the continent have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The symptoms of HAT in the beginning tend to be milder, consisting of nausea and fever. The disease
is commonly referred to as sleeping sickness . It obtained this name from people observing individuals
in a certain stage of the disease. There are two main stages of HAT caused by two different geniuses of
tsetse flies. These two stages both have hemolymphatic and acute disease stages. However, one of the
two forms an acute stage that is drastically more severe than the other. In this drastically different
acute stage, the infected individual becomes almost zombie like and can experience psychotic
episodes that occasionally involve violence. These episodes of an individual experiencing the acute
stage gave the disease the nickname of sleeping sickness . Some cultures have deemed the disease as a
result of demonic spirits and thus those infected can often be ignored because people are afraid of
interacting with a bad spirit.
Human African Trypanosomiasis was first discovered on the continent of Africa in the late 19th and
early 20th centuries. The initial outbreak of HAT killed approximately half of a million people in the
countries of Congo, Uganda, and Kenya. Shortly after this initial outbreak, a treatment for HAT was
developed. The drug was penned Suramin and is still used for treatment of the disease today. Shortly
after this drug was developed, a second drug known today as Pentamidine was

Health Education Program Analysis
To develop an effective health education program it requires culturally enhanced programs that are
both responsive and relevant. Within my program I would reiterate the importance of self
determination and family accountability. Therefore, this program would be geared toward the
neighborhood and all the citizens within its community. The demographic makeup of minority
families is traditionally hierarchical which means that elders are held in high regard and very
respected. This means in order to receive the community support for the education program, it must be
marketed well to the elders of the community. Regarding mental health it is vital that the elder foster a
community environment where it is not looked down upon to seek professional ... Show more content

Furthermore, health educators and health providers must become more culturally aware and expand
their capacity to understand and empathize with not only the patient but also the patients family
members.
People with mental health issues do not seek proper medical attention and as a result fall into states of
depression or worse consider suicidal or homicidal ideations. They can be too prideful or too afraid to
seek help with dealing with their medical issues. I would promote healthy behavior and
communication amongst the community. This communication between family and friends is essential
to maintain mental and physical health and it will foster a supportive community that enable
accountability.
Negative factors have an adverse influence on health. This is because negative practices limit
responses to illness in children and adults. The field of psychology enables a paradigm change from
negative beliefs to promoting positive practices (National Center for Biotechnology Information,
2013). For example, minorities are not accustomed to social workers and would rather rely on their
families and friends for support when dealing with related issues. Negative cultural customs cause
many individuals and families to perpetuate unhealthy practices. Minorities have been known to shun
others who are mentally ill. As a result, patients with mental health issues attempt to withhold this
information from their relatives and opposed to seeking professional

Introduction
The second piece of coursework for virtualization is to thoroughly examine two types of virtualisation
systems. The chosen virtualised systems will be selected from the ones that were taught by guest
lecturers at the end of semester one. Each virtualised system will be looked at extensively covering
their features; along with their advantages and disadvantages. Nowadays virtualisation systems have
become very popular, meaning there is completion grown in the virtualisation market. Two examples
of popular virtualised systems are Microsoft Hyper V which was introduced as part of Windows
Server 2008, and KVM the kernel based virtual machine that turns Linux into a hypervisor. Within
this report both KVM and Hyper V will be explained and compared; as well as pointing out their good
aspects and their flaws.
Virtualisation
When we use the word virtualisation we are referring to the act of creating a virtual version of
technologies found in the world of computing. Technologies such as, operating systems, servers or a

Feminist Criticism Of The Bloody Chamber
2. Feminist Criticism and Angela Carter
In order to better understand the scope of this theses, this chapter introduces the literary criticism that
is used to explain the position of women in a short story collection The Bloody Chamber by Angela
Carter through the notion of cannibalism. In her short story collection, Carter deals with issues that
concern feminism as the movement, and women as the part of the society. In order to understand
Angela Carters short story collection and the way women are represented and treated in The Bloody
Chamber, this thesis uses feminist literary criticism that is explained in the following paragraphs.
According to Louis Tyson feminist criticism examines the ways in which literature (and other cultural

She is not afraid of telling her audience that women are not fairy tale princesses and that life does not
have a happy ending. She is one of the most appreciated British female writers, well known for her
eccentric writing. She explores themes of incest, sexuality, and femininity in her novels and short
stories. Some of her well known works other than The Bloody Chamber include Shadow Dance
(1966), The Magic Toyshop (1967), The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman (1972), and
many others (Gordon, 2016). Angela Carters writings are a magical twist on fairy tales, novels, and
non fiction works. She tries to give her readers the possibility to become explorers and find a solution
to the problem, or simply come to the conclusion themselves rather than being led by the author.
Carter enjoys playing games with her readers and she admits that in an interview with Anna Katsavos

Wolves the other day, and there are a whole lot of verbal games in that that I really enjoy doing, the

different images she uses so that the reader can always apprehend something

Cameron Modern Family
Question 1:
Who is the character? What role do they play in the family? What relationships do they have in the
episode? How does this character create tension through there relationship?
Cameron in Modern Family is Mitchell s partner and adoptive father of Lily, who is a baby at the time.
Cameron is portrayed as a typical, middle aged gay man with a big, attention seeking personality.
Although he is also shown as a loving, caring father with a big heart who is emotionally sensitive. His
bubbly and outgoing personality contrasts with Mitchell s uptight, more practical approach, often
creating humorous situations and sometimes tension between them. An example of this is shown when

Stonestreet uses many production elements to support his characterisation of Cameron in Modern
Family. The use of space around him, and how much of it he uses has a big affect on Cameron s
movement and interactation with other people and things around. Stonestreet s use of movement
allows us to see the obvious attention seeking personality he has. An example of this is when Cameron
and Mitchell are about to leave the toddler play class but Cameron wants to stay back and do the
parent dance . He runs in with his hands flared outwards, as if he has to conceal his excitement. When
he is dancing he moves around, using all of the space around him and makes a effort to intentionally
bump into people. Stonestreet often also holds a prop, most of the time this is to emphasise the hand
movement that he is doing at that time. This conveys the message to audiences that he is a very people
orientated person who like to go above and beyond and likes to be the centre of attention.
Another obvious production element that Stonestreet has used to create Cameron was his physical
appearance. Cameron s clothing is always very decently assembled, showing that he takes pride in
what he is wearing and is emotionally sensitive when it comes to what other think of

Gross income that you guys make is $45,301. Afterward, we will remove the 6. 27% of your incomes

income, so we divide that by 12 and get $3538. 38. So your monthly income is $3538. 38, and using
the Reed Karaism study, we could only use 25% of your monthly gross income, and so 25% if your

Satis House Garden
Nowadays, society places a large emphasis on being the best in every way, including being of the
highest wealth or highest social class. Many view this as an overwhelming aspect of society, yet
compared to Victorian England, society today is much less focused on social status than it once was.
Throughout the novel, Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, many different objects had symbolic
meaning of the social classes in Victorian England. The garden at Satis House was one of those
symbols, and in the process, Dickens was able to show society how people were judged based off of
their social status, instead of who they were as a person, which is unnecessary. Dickens uses the
garden in Great Expectations to represent the lower class, and ... Show more content on

Likewise, the lower class in the Victorian society was not taken care of, because many believed that
they didn t deserve the attention, possibly because they weren t good enough . Due to that, the lower
class, and the garden were not taken care of, and as a result were not in good shape, or in the gardens
case, overgrown and sloppy looking. Pip describes it as overgrown with tangled weeds (65)
demonstrating that it lacked attention and overall care. It was unfair to the garden to be denied the
attention that it so greatly needed, which is the same case as the lower class. The only time that the
garden received activity (according to Pip s knowledge) was when he noticed a track upon the green
and yellow paths, as if someone sometimes walked there, and that Estella was walking away from me
even then (65). Since this took place moments after Estella had stomped on Pip s heart, the action of
Estella making a path of footsteps over the desolate garden could be viewed as her walking on top of
the lower class metaphorically, meaning that she is treating them as if they are nothing compared to
her. Her actions towards Pip, a member of the lower class, were similar to how she treated the garden,
exaggerating the mistreatment that each received. However, Estella wasn t the only one who
mistreated the lower class in the garden, the PYG (Pale Young Gentlemen) did as well. When the PYG
says to Pip, Come and fight ... I ought to give you a reason for fighting, too. There it is! In the most
irritating manner he instantly slapped his hands against one another, dainty flung one of his legs up
behind him, pulled my hair, slapped his hands again, and butted it into my stomach (94), Dickens
exemplifies how the lower class was taken advantage of by

The Consequences Of The Falling Of A Parachute
The falling of a parachute represents something much deeper then the written text. The pulling and
slacking of the parachutes strings shows how basic responsibilities may take priority over original
thought and pull actions in different directions. The idea of being an adult comes with many
challenges and commitments that need to be regulated. This includes balancing work, play, and a
family. Being stranded, these young boys do not have the norms of society, changing and molding
them to be adults. This lack of responsibility and actual leadership gives them a false sense of
adulthood, and what they perceive to be the freedom of age. Having responsibilities can give a
perception that adulthood is near because most children are taught that having

  • 2. Kohlberg s Theory Of The Development Of Moral Judgement Critically Evaluate Kohlberg s Theory of the Development of Moral Judgement Lawrence Kohlberg (1927 1987) further developed the works of Piaget (1896 1980) on moral development. This essay will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Kohlberg s theory in a critical manner, looking at the positive aspects of his research and the disadvantages of the types of situations he gave in his experiments, the universal accuracy of his results and the controversial findings of sex differences in regards to morality. Kohlberg advanced Piaget s theory of moral development by interviewing 10 13 year old boys to find out how they would attempt to resolve moral issues. These issues varied between situations that involved obeying the law, authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the universal support for Kohlberg s theory is impressive, it does not actually prove that people went through all the stages in the same order that Kohlberg predicted they would. As these participants were not monitored throughout every stage of their life we cannot be certain that they all went through the same stages in the same order, all we can defer from this is that people seem to be at the stages that Kohlberg predicted they would be at. However Ann Colby and Colleagues (1983) did do a longitudinal study where they interviewed Kohlberg s original participants five times over three to four year intervals, lasting for twenty years in total. The results of the study showed that all the participants went through the stages in the same order, never skipping a stage. These findings offer strong evidence to support Kohlberg s theory of moral development as, unlike the previous study mentioned, there is now longitudinal evidence to support that these stages happen in the same order in many people, and not just assuming that it happened like in Kohlberg s original study (Shaffer Kipp, 2007). However, there are limits to how far Kohlberg s theory of morality can be taken. When doing the research to develop his theory Kohlberg only interviewed male participants, completely ignoring the possibility that females could have a different outlook on morality to males. Carol Gilligan (1982, 1993) recognised that this was an issue with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Edward Gein Research Paper Edward Theodore Gein was born on August 27th in 1906 in the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Even at the beginning, it seems as though he had a troubled home life. Upon moving to a small farm outside Plainfield, his father was always working whether it was as a carpenter and tanner, or at the farm. When he isn t working however, he is drinking. As such, he is not around for the major family decisions, leaving them to Ed s mother Augusta, whom was very religious. Ed s father died in 1940. Four years later, his brother Henry died whilst battling fires. That left Ed and his mother. But sadly, that was shortly lived as his mother died from a stroke that same year. This caused doubts for Ed. He has considered multiple times to get transsexual surgery, but turned against it because he thought there were better ways of turning female . For this, among other odd personality traits, he became secluded, never talking to those in the community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He developed a very unhealthy interest in the anatomy of the female body, looking through medical encyclopedias and pornographic magazines. During World War 2, he was fascinated by the medical experiments performed in the concentration camps. After all this, he still wanted to know more about the female body. So, he went to multiple cemeteries and dug up female bodies, dissecting the body. He would take the skin from the body and wear them as suits to dance in, use different organs to make furniture, or would fondle the victim s genitalia, wearing the underwear that they have worn or he has put on the body. But this isn t all, he would save specific parts for fancier days wearing the face, scalp, or vest of the bodies torso and breasts. Gein felt that this would help him achieve contentment by putting on a different gender and also made him feel closer to his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Kate Chopin s “The Storm” Essay The short story, The Storm by Kate Chopin is about a love that could never be until it briefly was. The point that Chopin was trying to get across was that Calixta and Alcee had a strong passion for one another, and perhaps loved each other, but they could never have been married because of their social differences. It is a passionate, but brief affair between two married people from different social classes that takes place during a cyclone in Louisiana around 1898. The story symbolizes the freedom that a woman felt inside after the rain during a time when women had no freedom. (Firtha lesson 2 page 1) Calixta and Alcee had a strong passion for each other. (Chopin807) Chopin goes on to say; The generous abundance of her passion, without guile or trickery, was like a white flame which penetrated and found response in depths of his own sensuous nature that had never yet had been reached. (807) She stated that text because Calixta had never felt that way with her own husband. Also, Chopin refers to her mouth being a fountain of delight. (807) She adds, And when he possessed her, they seemed swoon together at the very borderline of life s mystery. (807)This must have been when they reached their climax. Shakespeare In Love Combination of Romantic Comedy and Shakespearean Tragedy William Shakespeare once told us, All the World s a Stage and now his quote can be applied to his own life as it is portrayed in the recent film, Shakespeare In Love. This 1998 motion picture prospered with the creative scripting of Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman and direction of John Madden. The combined effort of these men, on top of many other elements, produced a film that can equally be enjoyed by the Shakespeare lover for its literary brilliance, or for the romantic viewer who wants to experience a passionate love story. At this party, Shakespeare becomes captivated by the beautiful Viola at the same time that her father is promising her to Lord Wessex. After seeing him dance with Viola, Lord Wessex chases Shakespeare away, but not before asking his name. Shakespeare is quick to tell him that his name is Christopher Marlowe, the name of the current playwright for The Curtain Theatre. Having found his muse, Shakespeare soon hands a complete script of Act I to his actors, now calling the play Romeo and Juliet . He is in a blissful state until he receives a letter from Viola, telling that she must marry Lord Wessex. After a man to man conversation about this with Thomas Kent, Shakespeare realizes that Thomas Kent is Viola. This enticed me to look into the culture of South Africa to find out more things about my new found interest. During this investigation I found out that South Africa is prominent for their unique wild life, it is the only country which has hosted the world cup for cricket, rugby, and soccer, the vast history due to the colonialization of Africa by Europe, and the luxurious bodies of water found in South Africa. South Africa hosted the rugby world cup in 1995, the cricket world cup in 2003, and the soccer world cup in 2010. I would love to see the locations of where these important games were played, which brings me to my next point, South Africa s unique sights. South Africa is also known for its breathtaking sights which include the Kruger National Park, Table Mountain, Blyde River Canyon, and the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve just to name a few. At these sights you can either see the unique animals of South Africa in their natural habitat, or look over all of South Africa from the mountain and the canyon. Parents are under tremendous stress once they are informed about a defect and then have to decided what they should do to help fix their child s defect. The day a parent finds out they are pregnant, most people are very excited. No one ever wants their baby to be born with a birth defect. A special group of parents must be chosen to have a child with a defect. There are only a few options to choose from when a parent has to pick what they should do to care their baby. Most parents are willing for their child to have surgery if the surgery will help, but there is always some who fear for their baby to undergo surgery. • 8. Queenship In Robin s Essay On Hatshepsut While Egyptian monuments did not record individualities of ancient Egyptian queens, in the article, Robins discussed four queens in detail to speculate their characters and to demonstrate that kingship was complemented by queenship. I will focus on her argument on Hatshepsut and respond to it. In her research on Hatshepsut, Robins argued that Hatshepsut identified herself as a king during her queenship to build up power. She stated that Hatshepsut used god s wife as her title, reminiscent of Ahmose Nefertari. Further, Robins talked about Hatshepsut s kingship and argued that Hatshepsut could become a king due to her strong personality and the coruler political system in ancient Egypt. Moreover, Robins talked about Hatshepsut s daughter s important role. Then she discussed Hatshepsut s unusualness and argued that she was a fusion of female and male. • 9. Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman Essay Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman In the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, the central thesis that he tries to point out is that emotional intelligence may be more important than I.Q. in determining a person s well being and success in life. At first I didn t know what Goleman was talking about when he said emotional intelligence, but after reading the book I have to say that I agree completely with Goleman. One reason for my acceptance of Goleman s theory is that academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life. To me, emotions can be just as intelligent as your I.Q. In this essay I hope to provide sufficient evidence to show why I agree with Goleman s thesis on emotional intelligence. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Goleman states, Emotional aptitude is a meta ability, determining how well we can use whatever other skills we have, including raw intellect. People that have high emotional intelligence are more likely to be satisfied and effective in their lives. Others who have trouble with this cannot manage themselves so their ability for successful work and clear thought are altered. In contrast to this, you can say that I.Q. is better than emotional intelligence. Having a high I.Q. does offer a lot of benefits. Goleman states that people with a high I.Q. are ambitious, productive, and uneasy with sexual and sensual experience. That high I.Q. people are the caricature of the intellectual, adept in the realm of mind but inept in the personal world. And all of this is just for the men. Goleman states, The profiles differ slightly for men and women. High I.Q. women have intellectual confidence, are fluent in expressing their thoughts and have a wide range of intellectual and aesthetic interests. Goleman also does point out that these are extremes and that everyone mixes I.Q. and emotional intelligence in varying degrees. But this does give us an instructive look at what each of these dimensions adds to a person s qualities. In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Goleman talks about two psychologists (Sternberg and Salovey) who have taken a wider view on intelligence and give terms of what they think it takes to lead a successful life. Speaking from a liberal point of understanding, the development of international institutions is very vital. Most powerful states have relied on international institutions and economic interdependence. International institutions can set standards of behavior and verify compliance and resolve disputes. Also, the economic interdependence has been a huge key factor in the cooperation and peace of those States. Many of the states that are considered speaking upon the North Koreas dangerous efforts against them are States that have been trading goods for decades. • 12. The Influences and Strategies of Female Abolitionists Slavery was a growing problem in America in the 19th century and anti slavery supporters as well as pro slavery supporters were fighting to gain as much support as possible. There were many strategies used, but one that was exceedingly effective was the involvement of women. Female anti slavery abolitionist societies were created all over the North. Beginning in 1833 Philadelphia, Boston, and New York in 1836, spreading to other cities like Providence, Rhode Island, Portland, Maine, and quickly spreading through the countryside. By the late 1830s there were female societies in communities as small as Boylston, Massachusetts, with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. These local societies were in most ways like the many thousands of other women s voluntary organizations that were emerging in Northern communities in the early nineteenth century. Female abolitionists were determined to have their opinions heard in a controversial political society dominated by men. One strategy used by female abolitionists was the use powerful oratory to spread the word of the abolition cause. Angelina Grimke was a female abolitionist who toured the North speaking. She had a very large impact on society and shed light on a perspective of slavery that had never been seen before. Grimke was a daughter of a wealthy southern judge and was raised in a prominent family. She used her own experiences to illustrate the evils of slavery. She spoke to crowds of sympathetic listeners, hostile pro slavery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Research Into Leisure Constraints As more models of analysis are being made around the research of leisure there has been a shift in terminology. There has been a movement away from the term barrier to the more inclusive term constraint. In addition, we do not mean to imply that the existence of barriers automatically leads to non participation in leisure activities. Individuals are not passive; instead, they often successfully or unsuccessfully negotiate through constraints (Jackson, 1995; Crawford et al, 1991). There have been many models developed to analyze the literature on constraints/ barriers. Many of these models have been criticized for their lack of insight into an individual s decision making process and their static approach. What is evident is that there is no consensus on what is the best model or approach to take. The research into leisure constraints continues to grow. As far as leisure participation or nonparticipation are concerned...constraints are encountered hierarchically, first at the interpersonal level. Leisure preferences are formed when interpersonal constraints (eg. stress, socialization, perceived self skill) are absent or their effects have been confronted through some combination of privilege and exercise of human will. Next, depending on the type of activity, the individual may encounter constraints at the interpersonal level (eg. interpersonal interactions); this could happen in activities requiring at least one partner or co participant but would be less relevant in the ... My family immigrated to the U.S. in the early eighties and moved back to Syria two years after I was born. I completed my first and second grades in Syrian public schools before immigrating to the United States in 2001. I was first placed in english second language classes, which I completed in 9 months. I then continued my fourth grade in regular classrooms. These two years exposed me to various cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I interacted with people from all around the world, which cultivated my cultural awareness and shaped my identity. However, I was harassed several times because of my ethnic and religious background. A student once told me go back to your country, we don t want you here . It had never occurred to me that I was perceived as foreign even though I am a U.S. citizen. In late 2003, when I was ten years old, my family and I moved back to Damascus, Syria. I postponed my education in public elementary schools where everything was taught in Arabic. This rough transition presented me with numerous cultural and educational challenges. I had to adapt to the educational system in Syria and improve my Arabic skills to master its dense curriculum. I struggled during my first year but managed to catch up, topping my class. • 15. Essay On T. E. Lawrence The Battle Of Aqaba T.E. Lawrence demonstrated his innovative leadership by subverting the Ottomans through depleting the Turkish defenses at Aqaba, therefore bolstering the Allied Powers. Lawrence condemned the continuing practice, used by both his British superiors and the Arabs, of attacking the railroads leading to Medina. Specifically, with Medina heavily fortified, there was no purpose for continually blockading and disrupting the Hejaz Railway. Moving-Average Temperature Equations It is difficult to apply any meaning to this variability from the moving average temperature but someone could make reasonable assumptions about why this difference in variability exists. One such assumption could be because you cannot give the entire globe a single temperature. It is, naturally, an aggregation of many localized temperatures, which must be averaged or at least used to calculate a median to negate the effect of outliers. The aggregated global calculation inherently smooths out the impacts of localized variances on the variability of the overall global value. This matches the observation we can see in the graph of greater dips and rises in the line representing the data set. It is reasonable to assume that, with more data, we may be more likely to see a change in the direction of the trend line for Seattle (at only 68% fit) than we would for the global trend line. The novel follows the misfortune that surrounds Nargis and her friends and family. From these events I found that religious intolerance was one of the main driving forces behind why the events occurred. Religious intolerance is when a religious group refuses to tolerate practices or beliefs based on religious grounds. Throughout the novel there are many references to both Christian and Islamic prejudices and intolerance towards the other religion. This hostility is a catalyst to Nargis, Helen and Imran s Lisa Curtis (2016) writes about Pakistan s history with regard to religious minorities. She mentions the drive behind creating a true Islamic state and how this has affected the treatment of religious minorities. Curtis describes the 1980s as a key period in the establishment of the discord between Pakistan s Muslims and the country s religious minorities, such as Christians. With the tightening of blasphemy laws in this period by Zia ul Haq more in a push towards having a single religion country, resulted in an imbalance of rights between Pakistan s religions. Curtis states that blasphemy allegations were often fabricated, and still are today, in an attempt to intimidate minorities. Blasphemy laws are very vague with little detail about what a violation entails. But the part of the laws that is most related to intolerance is that there is no requirement of evidence for the charge of blasphemy. This results in many innocent people being accused of blasphemy simply for their religion. In The Golden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Improper reinforcement is simply defined, as reinforcing behaviors under certain circumstances and not reinforcing them under other circumstances. When teaching a child to follow certain behaviors you have to have a method of reinforcement whether it be positive or negative. It is always good to have a discipline method. The proper thing to do is the proper thing to do, so to speak. Just because a child can talk doesn t mean she s able to problem solve or attach the right words to what she s feeling, so she may try to get what she wants by other means. Civic Duties of Teenagers Quinn Bailey 3/4/2013 Civic Duties of Teenagers Introduction Civic duty is the obligation to each of us to leave our community in a better condition than we found it. Every person in our country has rights, and with those rights come responsibilities. That is what civic duty is, your rights and responsibilities that help contribute to society. Every single day we perform these tasks to help better our country as a whole. Teenagers have a huge role in this circle, whether they believe it or not. Bailey would like to see more teens signing up to volunteer, but he is very strong about his opinion that it should be a choice. It should be voluntary, says Bailey. You can lead a horse to water, but you can t make them drink. My Civic Duties I find myself very lucky to live in the United States of America. Sadly, in many other countries teenagers like me are much less fortunate and have fewer rights. What is even more sad to me is that many teenagers take for granted the rights they inherit as U.S. citizens. One example is that some teens actually take up the opportunity to drop out of high school whenever they get the chance. It upsets me that they don t continue with their education and become a better educated citizen, especially considering it is free. For centuries throughout their cultural history, the Armenian people have been maltreated; however in this essay, I ll focus solely on the period from 1850 1915, which is just before the occurrence of the Armenian genocide. The historic Armenian homelands were controlled by two empires called the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire. The Ottoman Empire which controlled Western Armenia, was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled Eastern Armenia was ruled by the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was divided into six vilayets called Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert, Sivas, and Erzurum, while the remnants of Eastern Armenia was divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led to this disheartening division of the Armenians fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be personified through Armenian works of art such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness Toumanian s writings. The absence of the man s face in the image shows how the advertisers portray the man s physique as the primary focus of the image by stripping the man of a unique identity, therefore mystifying him. By making his identity irrelevant, the advertisement seeks to present the man as the standard for physical perfection that all men should seek to achieve. The words used in the advertisement also aim to present the man as a dominant figure. The advertisers intend for two words to stand out. Ideas regarding disease tend to center around the idea that disease can be eliminated by a one step cure. This viewpoint is flawed because it excludes other factors influencing disease. In this paper, I will argue that there are many factors that influence the presence of disease on a continent. More specifically, I will be focusing on Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) in the countries of Kenya, Uganda, and the Congo. It obtained this name from people observing individuals in a certain stage of the disease. There are two main stages of HAT caused by two different geniuses of tsetse flies. These two stages both have hemolymphatic and acute disease stages. However, one of the two forms an acute stage that is drastically more severe than the other. In this drastically different acute stage, the infected individual becomes almost zombie like and can experience psychotic episodes that occasionally involve violence. These episodes of an individual experiencing the acute stage gave the disease the nickname of sleeping sickness . Some cultures have deemed the disease as a result of demonic spirits and thus those infected can often be ignored because people are afraid of interacting with a bad spirit. Human African Trypanosomiasis was first discovered on the continent of Africa in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The initial outbreak of HAT killed approximately half of a million people in the countries of Congo, Uganda, and Kenya. Shortly after this initial outbreak, a treatment for HAT was developed. The demographic makeup of minority families is traditionally hierarchical which means that elders are held in high regard and very respected. Furthermore, health educators and health providers must become more culturally aware and expand their capacity to understand and empathize with not only the patient but also the patients family members. People with mental health issues do not seek proper medical attention and as a result fall into states of depression or worse consider suicidal or homicidal ideations. They can be too prideful or too afraid to seek help with dealing with their medical issues. I would promote healthy behavior and communication amongst the community. This communication between family and friends is essential to maintain mental and physical health and it will foster a supportive community that enable accountability. Negative factors have an adverse influence on health. This is because negative practices limit responses to illness in children and adults. The field of psychology enables a paradigm change from negative beliefs to promoting positive practices (National Center for Biotechnology Information, 2013). For example, minorities are not accustomed to social workers and would rather rely on their families and friends for support when dealing with related issues. Negative cultural customs cause many individuals and families to perpetuate unhealthy practices. Minorities have been known to shun others who are mentally ill. Stonestreet uses many production elements to support his characterisation of Cameron in Modern Family. The use of space around him, and how much of it he uses has a big affect on Cameron s movement and interactation with other people and things around. Stonestreet s use of movement allows us to see the obvious attention seeking personality he has. An example of this is when Cameron and Mitchell are about to leave the toddler play class but Cameron wants to stay back and do the parent dance . He runs in with his hands flared outwards, as if he has to conceal his excitement. When he is dancing he moves around, using all of the space around him and makes a effort to intentionally bump into people. Stonestreet often also holds a prop, most of the time this is to emphasise the hand movement that he is doing at that time. This conveys the message to audiences that he is a very people orientated person who like to go above and beyond and likes to be the centre of attention. Another obvious production element that Stonestreet has used to create Cameron was his physical appearance. Many view this as an overwhelming aspect of society, yet compared to Victorian England, society today is much less focused on social status than it once was. Throughout the novel, Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, many different objects had symbolic meaning of the social classes in Victorian England. Pip describes it as overgrown with tangled weeds (65) demonstrating that it lacked attention and overall care. It was unfair to the garden to be denied the attention that it so greatly needed, which is the same case as the lower class. The only time that the garden received activity (according to Pip s knowledge) was when he noticed a track upon the green and yellow paths, as if someone sometimes walked there, and that Estella was walking away from me even then (65). Since this took place moments after Estella had stomped on Pip s heart, the action of Estella making a path of footsteps over the desolate garden could be viewed as her walking on top of the lower class metaphorically, meaning that she is treating them as if they are nothing compared to her. Her actions towards Pip, a member of the lower class, were similar to how she treated the garden, exaggerating the mistreatment that each received.
