Applying Dina s Psychodynamic Theory
According to a psychoanalytic theorist would claim that because Dina is around the age of three, her
superego has not fully developed, so she acts mainly on impulse. Because of her incomplete
unconscious, Dina s behavior is dictated by the id portion of her unconscious, which would explain
her selfish part of her personality when it comes to what she wants. Additionally, Dina is shifting into
the phallic stage from the anal stage, where she may have developed a resistance to authority figures if
her parents were impatient in helping her toilet train, which could cause her be unresponsive to their
teacher s lessons about sharing. A psychoanalytic theorist would suggest to just let Dina outgrow it, as
the ego and superego will continue to form until she is around the age six, as well as she will be
entering the phallic stage and leaving behind the anal stage, unless she becomes fixated. A behaviorist
would assert that Dina had learned her behavior through operant conditioning where she has learned
that acting out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dina s egocentrism causes her to be unable to think of things from another perspective, rendering her
unable to realize what is wrong with her behavior if it benefits her. Dina is also still constructing her
understanding of the world, so she is unable to ascertain that hitting and screaming when she doesn t
get her way is unacceptable. She sees the world and understands based on what she has seen and
constructed herself, so that may be that she s seen another kid use that behavior but did not see that
behavior such as that was not appropriate. A cognitive theorist would recommend that Dina have the
experiences to construct that her behavior is inappropriate through modeling correct behavior so that
she learns, additionally Dina will continue to cognitively develop and reach the concrete operational
stage where she will know

The United States Navy Essay
The United States of America has not always been the world superpower that it is today. The same
goes for its Navy. In the first several years of existence, the United States Navy was not a formidable
fighting force. The young nation was hesitant to invest in a navy for many reasons, one of them being
to prevent provoking the world powers of the time, France and Britain. On top of that, navies were
very expensive to build and required a significant amount of resources to maintain, which the U.S. did
not have at the time. To say that the United States Navy was ill prepared for war would be a dramatic
understatement. The U.S. had a total of fifteen ships in its entire naval fleet compared to the might of
the Royal Navy which possessed over six hundred warships. Even with the odds stacked against the
U.S., President Madison declared war on 18 JUN 1812. The lack of size and power of the navy at the
time would make it extremely difficult to satisfy the needs of the newly founded nation.
The U.S. had enough of the British Navy impressing American sailors and seizing American merchant
ships. Even though the U.S. Navy lacked the size that British had, the Royal Navy was stretched to its
limits. Many of the British efforts were focused on the Napoleonic wars taking place in Europe,
leaving just two dozen British ships between Halifax and Bermuda. The U.S. frigates were larger and
had much more armament than those of the British giving the U.S. one more key advantage over their

The Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) is a public organization that is government provided. The
organization funding is produce through taxes. The executive branch of the agency is located in
Washington DC and is headed by Secretary of Veteran Affairs. There are Veteran Affairs Offices
located in all 50 states, including American Samoa, District of Columbia, Guam, North Marianas
Islands, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands. It ranks number two in the United States federal department
with over 200,000 employees.

These three divisions integrate a centralized policy directed/ decentralized execution approach to
govern daily operations.
Four organizational behaviors (Bureaucratic Politics Approach, Human Relations Approach, Collegial
Model, and Supportive Model) can be found within the organizational structure of the DVA. These
behaviors are necessary for the organization success. The Bureaucratic Politics Approach is found in
the Veteran Benefits Administration, Veteran Health Administration, and National Cemetery
Administration as a top down, centralized bureaucracy; therefore, abiding by rules and regulations
implemented by the government that is uniformly applied to all administrations. The Human Relation
Approach focuses on motivating employees individually through means such as continuing education,
tuition reimbursement, flexible works schedule etc. to promote collaboration. Collegial Approach is
used in the organization, for all three administrations are unionized; the employees are responsible and
self discipline, supportive, and committed to meeting the organization objectives. DVA provides a
Supportive Model where the leader provides an environment that offers non monetary incentives such
mentoring and collaboration in a warm and friendly environment to encourage employees in order to
achieve the organization s mission.

Increase Student Retention In Schools
Increased student achievement has been the focus of many school districts across the country in recent
years, looking at the level of student achievement, what is necessary to see an increase, and how to
afford it. The retention of high quality teachers is an extremely important part of the puzzle. Teacher
retention includes not only keeping the teachers who are difficult or impossible to replace, but also
weeding out the teachers who need to be replaced. This process of evaluation and incentives must
work together to attract and keep the best possible teachers in our classrooms so students can get the
best possible education to be successful in the world to come. The most effective retention strategy is
to attract and keep high quality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When districts can give their teachers time to plan, reflect, learn, and collaborate, they are better able
to create an effective learning environment for their students. Lack of planning time is one of the
reasons teachers cite for leaving their jobs and even the profession. Daily plan time is the norm, but
other responsibilities can get in the way of being able to adequately use that time for planning and
reflecting on teaching. Districts can provide additional time such as late start or early out so that
teachers have the time to work with teammates and get the planning parts of their teaching completed.
Teachers, who have the time within the school day to collaborate with fellow teachers and have time
to plan quality lessons, will find their jobs more satisfying (Vilson, 2015). This time will increase
teacher retention by allowing them to have the necessary time to learn new teaching strategies,
analyze data to make adjustments to instruction, plan engaging lessons, and evaluate student

An Actor Prepares By Constantin Stanislavski
All I can do is to help you feel what it is. Even to do that requires great patience, for I shall devote our
whole course to it. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole
system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying,
transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov,
teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin
Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three
main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the
inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a
character through the art form. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Actor Prepares teaches an actor that everything needs to be justified and motivated. Whether that
be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or
ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of
the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going
over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of
the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself,
provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The overall objective of the show
provides a reason or lesson for the whole play. The sooner I, as an actor, understand and determine the
objective, I can better play the character s motivation and drive to what she

Professor Wang Analysis
For professor Wang, not only has his passion and purpose given him the motivation to strive and
achieve, but it has given him the sense of appreciation of his identity. By living with passion and
purpose, he mentioned that he worked his butt off to be where he is at. He didn t stress much on the
hardship have faced but I can bet that he has given up many things to be where he is at today. To
practice real law he had to leave China and he is potentially risking his safety by promoting
democratic values through his writings and teaching. Like professor Wang, I also have a deep
appreciation of the American legal system because of my upbringing in India where the legal system
is really corrupt. Also, I know about how Tibetans inside Tibet lack ... Show more content on

I m also happy that my pessimistic predictions of this interview turning uneventful did not come true.
I think the interview was very natural and engaging. Also to my surprise, he treated me like an equal
where I felt that I can speak my mind and ask what I desired. From this interview, what I value the
most is the humility he showed to me. Even as a very successful lawyer, professor and researcher, he
looked at me as a peer. As the interviewer, I feel that I did a pretty good job driving the conversation.
There were moments when professor Wang went off on a tangent with stories that were irrelevant with
the topic and I could have done a better job controlling that. Compared to my classmate one to one, I
felt that this interview was richer in the sense that he has more life experience than both Josh and I
combined. Josh is a very young man so he still has a lot to experience and dabble before he knows
what he really wants in life. Unlike Josh, professor Wang has a rich life where he has gone through
many things and he has a strong sense of self and his desires. Because of these realities, I felt that my
conversation with professor Wang was more meaningful. If there is anything I wish I had done
differently, it would be the fact that we didn t talk long enough. I feel that I have lot to learn from him.
Luckily, I plan on seeing him in the near future to talk about my future plans and world

The Internet Is An Ocean And We Are The Fishermen
San Trieu
Professor Michael Hammond
Rhetoric 120 Written Communications
March 21, 2016
Rogerian Argument The Internet is an ocean and we are the fishermen. We immerse ourselves in a
myriad of appealing fishes, all competing for our attention. We re enticed to keep making our way
across the water to seek more, and sometimes fail to catch anything. This is exactly the marvel of the
web, but it is also a problem. Nowadays the Internet is no longer a want, rather, it is becoming
somewhat of a necessity. The rising popularity of this artificial intelligence has led to an ongoing
debate regarding its influence on people s lives. The Net is undoubtedly the most influential
technology after the arrival of the printing press. Computer scientists had always found ways to merge
together the human s brain and computers since 1936 with the hope of creating a machine that is
capable of problem solving. They aspired to produce a network plan, however, this concept of a
network initially was only used for government communication and research due to its high speed
connections. By the late 20th century, computer networks in the U.S expanded to commercial and
business sectors, which demanded online advertising services. In 1998, Larry Page and Sergey Brin,
two computer science graduates at Stanford University, launched Google, a search engine that
understands exactly what you mean and gives you back exactly what you want (qtd. in Carr). Nicholas

Introduction
Sati (Prevention) Act, 1987 is law instituted by Government of Rajasthan in 1987. It turned into an Act
of the Parliament of India with the establishment of The Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act, 1987 in
1988. The Act looks to avoid Sati hone or the intentional or constrained blazing or covering alive of
dowagers, and to preclude glorification of this activity through the recognition of any service, the
cooperation in any parade, the making of a monetary trust, the development of a sanctuary, or any
activities to remember or respect the memory of a widow who submitted sati.
Sati was initially banned under Bengal Sati Regulation, 1829
Sati The Burning Of A Widow
Sati is portrayed as a Hindu custom in India in which the dowager was copied to fiery debris on her
dead spouse s fire. Essentially the custom of Sati was accepted to be a deliberate Hindu act in which

Stereotype Promise
Stereotype Threat and Stereotype Promise are two concepts that explains or rationalize why minority
groups such as African American underperform compared to their white counterparts, and why Asian
American students have successful educational outcomes compared to other minority groups. Using
Claude M. Steele s article of Thin Ice: Stereotype Threat and Black College Students, and Jennifer Lee
and Min Zhou work called From Unassimilable to Exceptional: The Rise of Asian Americans and
Stereotype Promise, we can further understand the effects of these two concepts on the two different
subgroups. Stereotype threat and stereotype promise are manifested in everyday educational contexts,

led to Asian ethnic groups being homogenized into the bread racial label of Asian American,
disregarding the differences in ethnicity, class, generation status, and migration history. Which goes on
to further boost the positive stereotypes associated with Asian Americans, and that became a form of
symbolic capital that benefits Asian American students in educational contexts. Teachers favored
Asian American students because they were perceived as bright, hard working, better prepared, and
more willing to put in effort into their homework (Lee and Zhou 17). These perceptions affected the
grades Asian American students would receive, extra help were offered with their coursework and
college applications, and their likelihood of being placed into academic programs and competitive
academic tracks. This help further the theory of stereotype promise, in which Asian American students
began to see themselves the way that teachers and society sees them with the idea of Asian American
Exceptionalism. In results, it led to the self fulfilling prophecy, where it begins with a false definition
of the situation, evoking a new behaviour, which makes the original false conception come true (Lee
and Zhou 18). Both Asian American students and teachers began to believe that all Asians are high
achieving, which resulted a change in the student s behavior, and ultimately, a change in their
academic outcome.

qualities that make them interesting and functional art pieces. These bronzes both haveintricacies

The Gui vessel isdefinitely less cluttered than the Zun vessel which uses every inch of space possible
to cover the vessel in some ornamentation. The reason for this may be due to many factors. Perhaps
there was a technique the Zun culture used that the Gui culture never obtained. A close inspection of
the Gui bronze shows that there are many imperfections in the shape of the vessel which may either be
due to time, or casting technique. The Gui bronze does appear to have been cast from clay, as it takes
up the same texture of clay on the surface and the warped pieces indicate clay casting; however, this
may also be due to time. The Zun vessel, on the other hand, appears almost free of imperfections
which may indicate the techniques used were more advanced in the time of the Zun.
Perhaps the techniques used by the Zun culture were too costly and so the Gui culture adopted clay
casting or whatever technique which was used to create the Gui vessel. The culture of the Zun appears
to be more fixated on spiritualism than the Zun. This can

Man s Search For Meaning By Victor Frankl
Author Victor E. Frankl wrote a book called Man s Search for Meaning. He had always fantasized
about being a doctor from a young age. He lived in Vienna, and studied medicine, psychology and
logotherapy which is the healing through meaning. In 1942 his family was arrested and taken to
Theresienstadt in Bohemia. His family had died in the camp except his sister; she was the only one to
survive besides him. He began to write a script while in the camps he was in (he moved to 3 different
camps during the holocaust). It was called, The Doctor and The Soul. He wrote it on pieces of paper
he found in the camps. In 1945 his camp was set free and he finished his manuscript. When he got out,
he became the director of the Vienna Neurological Policlinic. ... Show more content on

When he is explaining his experience he discusses how he tried to understand the minds of the people
suffering around him. In the book he describes his admittance into the camp, the everyday camp
schedule and his release from the camp. When he is talking about his involvement in the camp he
noticed many people experienced shock. As a part of this he noticed most people believed that the
gassing would be stopped or delayed right before their execution. There was always a tiny hope
fluctuation around in the camps that they would live to see freedom. Once people started to lose
optimism that they would survive, suicides were common and majority of the prisoners lacked
enthusiasm and energy which created emotional emptiness. He thought that people had the ability to
governor and choose their piety and mental stability. Frankl said that people struggled with not
knowing when the torment and suffering would end. He thought that people who couldn t foresee
themselves getting out lost control of their mental stability. When freedom does eventually arrive for
those who had survived they had a hard time accepting it because they never thought it would happen.
He states that some prisoners weren t even happy about being released. Once they were released the
former prisoners had to relearn how to experience things that didn t revolve around suffering. Once
the holocaust is over and everyone has been released the book goes on to describe the techniques to
help people that are still mentally ill from the horrifying experience. He states that the only way to
help them find their meaning for life is Logotherapy. He thinks you can discover it in 3 ways which
are to perform a deed, experience something and display an attitude toward suffering. A

King Lear Evil Vs Evil
Second, there is nothing wrong with being a villain if society mistreats the evil character. Although
society should be against evilness, a villain may justifiably perform evil acts if he is not treated fairly
by society. King Lear, a play that involves the theme of man versus nature, is a perfect example of
this. Edmund, one of the main evil characters in the play, must overcome the social ridicule that comes
with being a bastard. In the beginning of the play, Edmund should not be blamed for how evil he acts
since society refuses to respect his dignity. It seems that since Edmund has no one with whom he can
reveal his evil deeds, he likes to express his feelings and plans out to the audience. As Cindy Erdin
explains:

In fact, some acts seem impossible to reenact in real life because it makes the audience think about if
some villains are really life like to them. In any case, exploring the villains purpose and development
throughout stories are important as they assist the audience in understanding why evil characters
deserve to be where they end up. For this reason, villains can still have the right motives to perform
evil acts as long as they are not too observed in themselves. In specific, the villains can only act evil
towards the characters that have done something unjustifiably against them. However, in most cases,
if villains are taking their evil out on characters that never wronged them, then they prove why evil
characters never triumph in the end. In Othello and King Lear, Iago and Edmund were fascinating
characters to dissect because they are both evil in their own way. With Iago, the audience can see that
he is the greatest manipulator of mankind and he enjoys interacting with them. Moreover, Iago is able
to entertain the audience with his practical jokes but in the end, he gets carried away with his hatred
on innocent women and causes a bloodbath. On the other hand, Edmund had a much serious conflict
to deal with as he is fighting for his social rights when it comes to being a bastard. Although he

Analysis Of The Movie American History X
In the movie, American History X , the plot surrounds the life of two brothers who are involved with
the D.O.C. a well known white supremacist group in Venice Beach. Danny Vinyard is a high school
student who admires his older brother, Derek, a former skinhead. Through the incarceration of his
brother Derek, Danny becomes more affiliated with the skinheads and is mentioned at times as being
the resemblance of his elder brother. The movie begins with flashbacks of Derek s incarceration, and
everything that leads him into being a prominent member of the skinheads. Throughout the movie, the
audience witnesses the murder of two African American men by the hands of Derek; while Danny
watches in fear and in disbelief. After the murders, Derek is immediately arrested and is sentenced to
three years for voluntary manslaughter. Throughout the three years of Derek s imprisonment, Danny
has become more involved in the white supremacist groups and begins following in the same dogma;
which is that whites should hate all that are not part of the superior race. Due to his growing belief,
Danny is sent to the principle s office for writing a paper on Adolph Hitler s book, Mein Kampf ;
which ultimately leads to principal Sweeney becoming his new history teacher and assigning him his
first assignment. Danny is instructed to write a paper surrounding events that would ultimately lead to
Derek s imprisonment and how his imprisonment affected Danny s perception of all the people around
him.

The Spiritual Discipline Of Worship
Introduction
The spiritual discipline that I have chosen is worship. When I think of the term worship my initial
response is singing to God but throughout this course I have learnt that although singing is one
important aspect of worship, that it is so much more than just that. Worship is to honour and adore the
Trinity as the supreme treasure of life. Worship is offering your whole self to God. Worship is a choice
and a way of life.
Summarise your original understanding of the discipline before the course started
Before I began studying the discipline of worship I understood worship as singing to God. I believed
that it was something that came naturally to every believer, that it was something that you just did
when you were a Christian. To think of worship as a discipline was a bit of a struggle for me. I
understood worship to be lifting God up with your voice either in church meetings or in your quiet
time at home and only had a basic understanding of what living a lifestyle of worship looked like.
A Significant Christian figure in history who has contributed to this discipline
The significant Christian figure that I would like to focus on is William Booth. William was born in
England, gave his life to Jesus at the age of 15 and is best known today as founder and first general of
the Salvation Army . William had a passion for music and a niche for using secular songs to reach the
lost, although he was often criticized by others for doing so. He contributed

The Cold War And Postmodern Eras
America is often said to envelop in culture of fear. American elites have established this supremacy by
the means of propaganda. From the Cold War to the War on Terror, these elites have maintained power
along with the American
Government to make sure they have control of their consumers. This has been accomplished with the
establishment of an American foreign policy that has helped create a bipolar world. It allows America
to focus on its interest and create a myth that the American people have a destiny to fulfill in the
world. Thus understanding the implications of a foreign policy and use of propaganda as a way to
inject fear into the American society is the tool that would be used during the Cold War and
Postmodern eras. It is then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cold War was established after World War 2, where tensions between American and the Soviet
Union had created two sides. On March 12, 1947, the Truman Doctrine would establish the set of
ideas for a bipolar world. The Truman Doctrine was America s foreign policy that would be the
building block for America s foreign interests from 1947 1991 (Donaldson pg.35). According to
Andrew Bacevich, an American historian specializing in international relations, security studies,
American foreign policy, and American diplomatic and military history, wrote, Foreign policy has, for
decades, provided an outward manifestation of American domestic ambitions, urges, and fears
(Bacevich pg.5). Foreign policy would be the underlining factor that would direct America in its
conflicts against the Soviet Union. The doctrine was a speech given by Truman, asking congress for
the funding to stop the Communist expansion. Truman wanted to prevent the domino theory where if
one country fell to Communism, the others around it would soon follow. The Red Scare was already
forming even before World War 2 but did not catch on until the late 40s. The first Red Scare was
formed under the bipolar world, which sought to rid communism from America through labeling. The
civil rights movement in 1947 was cut short by the first Red Scare, as they were labeled as
communists (Donaldson pg.17). The elitists would take

Voltaire s Use Of Optimism In Candide
Voltaire, Son of a Lawyer, exiled from Paris for poems speaking out against the regent family, before
being imprisoned in the Bastille for continuation of his writing. He remained there for 3 years. Writing
stories like Zaïre, Candide, and Letter to a First Commissioner, Voltaire s goal was to Knock mankind

sheltered life under the philosophies of Pangloss, to then go out in the world of hardships and witness
the imperfections of the outside world.
Pangloss was a man who convinced Candide to believe the passion for maintaining that all is right
when all goes wrong with us (pg.86, Voltaire(Butt)), but throughout the story many things come up
that makes Candide question this optimism. For example, every time he gets close to living happily
ever after with Cunegonde she betrays him, he gets banished, or she is sold to slavery. As Candide

In 1791, the First Bank of the United States was established and was signed off by George
Washington. It was located in Philadephia, but also had branches in other cities. The tasks in which it
performed were: accepting deposits, issuing bank notes, making loans, and purchasing securities.
Twenty years later the charter expired, and the United States was without a central bank for a couple
of years. During this time, the United States suffered from inflation. In 1816, James Madison signed
the Second Bank of the United States into existence. Once that charter expired, President Jackson
removed the government funds as part of the Bank War, and the United States went without a central

Joe Sacco Evaluating Visuals
Evaluating Visuals It s a visual world and people respond to visuals , Joe Sacco. Visuals add power,
interest and weight to a presentation. Visuals when added to a presentation not only help present the
information you are communicating, but also add color and emotion (Locker Kienzler, 2009). With the
recent changes in technology, and how easy it is to create visuals now has resulted presenters using
visuals without thought about the purpose the visual is fulfilling. Visuals should only be utilized when
they meet a need or want of the audience (Locker Kienzler, 2009). Visuals in a document or
presentation should be utilized for three purposes: to make points vivid, to emphasize material, and to

The visuals message that fear of accidents is overblown given the actual causes of death for
Americans is clear. A graph is the correct choice for conveying this information, but the 3D bar graph
utilized can distort the information conveyed. For example, the graph has heart disease as the base of
the pyramid, which makes sense given that heart disease was the leading cause of death for Americans
in 2003. But, the graph has other diseases as the middle of the pyramid and looks like that is the
largest group given how large its segment is. This distorts the information being presented. The
breakdown in accidental causes of death as well as other diseases creates chart junk. This information
could have been present compellingly as a series of three separate graphs (Locker Kienzler, 2009, p.
242). According to Hardin, Hom, Perez Williams (2012), showing related but different views in one

Futility In The Zookeeper s Wife
The sheer brutality of the Nazi regime prior to and during World War II not only created an aura of
futility for the millions of women caught directly in the line of sight, but also transformed the absolute
essence of coping with this futility through gendered experiences becoming radically altered. In The
Zookeeper s Wife, Antonina, as the wife of Jan Zabinski, the director of the Warsaw Zoo, shaped both
her domestic and professional undertakings around the mammals that intricately intertwined with her
life. Thus, following the German invasion of Poland and with all semblances of life flipped on its
head, she embraced the role of not only a mother for her children and the animals, but also as a
defender of those unable to escape the ruthless liquidation process of her fellow human beings.

Transportation Plan For A Sustainable Transportation System
For more than 50 years the U.S. has followed a motor vehicle centric transportation policy which
supported dramatic U.S. economic and population growth. Alternate forms of transportation including
walking, biking, rail transit and public transit have been overlooked, even neglected in the auto era
during which the overriding transportation planning philosophy has been to improve the speed of
moving goods, services and people by expanding roads, highways and parking facilities.
Transportation planning has proceeded without regard to health or the environment or the integrity and

Economic Indicators Paper
Economic Indicators Paper
What does it mean when someone refers to the health of an economy? Furthermore, how can one
classify an economy? Americans love to quantify data. Because of this inherent need to compare data,
economists have developed a way to collect nearly every type of statistics that may reveal the general
health of the economy. These statistics actually tell if the economy is productive and efficient or if it is
slow and inefficient. Included in these statistics are Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Consumer Price
Index (CPI), Unemployment Rate, Retail Sales, Producer Price Index (PPI), and Personal Income.
Included in this paper, Team A defines the preceding six indicators, and describes their status.

There have been many indicators that have been developed to measure inflation. The CPI measures
inflation as experienced by consumers through their everyday expenses. The Producer Price Index
(PPI) measures inflation during the early stages of business development, such as production and
sales. The best measure of inflation for a given application depends upon how one intends to use this
data. CPI allows businesses to adjust prices based upon a comparison of the current cost of a defined
set of goods and/or services to the cost of those same goods at a time in the past. It is also, the best
measure to use to translate retail sales and hourly earnings into real or inflation free dollars (2005).
The CPI is the most widely used measure of inflation and is sometimes viewed as an indicator of the
effectiveness of government economic policy. It provides information about price changes in the
Nation s economy to government, business, labor, and private citizens and is used by them as a guide
to making economic decisions. In addition, the President, Congress, and the Federal Reserve Board
use trends in the CPI to aid in formulating fiscal and monetary policies.
Retail Sales Retail sales, represent an important component in the economy. Products sold by
companies, such as Target and local retail stores are tracked and reported to the Census Bureau. The

Capital Punishment and Methods of Execution
Capital Punishment Thirty two out of the fifty states in the United States of America accommodate to
the death sentence, with Virginia being the one of the largest contributors following that of Texas. In
1976, the death sentence was reinstated by the Supreme Court; this produced the outcome of Texas
holding the largest number of executions within all the states. Every year, people are brutally killed by
inhumane methods of death. Who s to say whether another person has the right to live or not? By
taking the life of another, is to play God. In spite of the fact that some find it to be unethical taking
another man s life, about 70% of the public agree with the continuation of the death penalty.
Methods of execution include lethal injection; being the first option for most, electrocution, gas
chamber, hanging, and lastly by firing squad; which is only legal in two states, Oklahoma and Utah;
however is it only used if lethal injection is deemed unconstitutional. Many Countries support this
ideal; however, there are those who greatly oppose of it. According to the writers on
Religioustolerance.org, Some countries, such as Italy, routinely refuse to extradite accused murderers
to the US because of the possibility that they might be executed. Canada originally refused to extradite
suspected mass murderer Charles Ng to California for a trial. The government ruling was later

Biography of Helen Keller
How would you feel if you were famous at a young age just for overcoming deaf and blindness?
Helen Keller was one of the few people back in her time to become really famous over something she
couldn t help. Helen was famous because of how she was able to make things better for children and
adults with disabilities, and while she did this she had no forms of communication. Helen actually
wasn t deaf and blind; she was born perfectly normal in a small town in Alabama called Tuscumbia on
June 27, 1880. Due to a sickness believed to be Scarlet Fever; Keller lost her ability to see and hear at
the age about nineteen months. In the progressing years of her life Helen became crazy and somewhat
bad. In the beginning period of Helen s talking it had been difficult because she had gotten confused;
soon enough her teacher Anne had taken her to a water pump, put her hand under it, and showed Keller
the association between the running water and the spelling of the word. Helen had went to a blind
school and that is where she met her long time teacher Anne Sullivan. In the year of 1898 Cambridge
School for Young Ladies gained Helen as a student when she was preparing to go to Radcliffe for
college. Keller certainly has seemed to have a tough background, but she ends up pushing through it
and has a great future. Helen s biggest accomplishment is finding ways to get past her lost senses. One
measly year before Keller graduated from Radcliffe she published her book The Story of My Life. In

The Roles Of Divine Power-Supportinga In Iliad And God In...
Divine powers moira in Iliad and God in Genesis drove the actions of Andromache and Rebekah, who
in turn influenced action in their respective stories (Rothleder discussion). Andromache s influence
was largely due to the way she interacted with her husband Hector, who was a great warrior on the
side of the Trojans in the Trojan war (Il. p. 500). Similarly, in Genesis, Rebekah s abilities to control
domestic resources brought blessings to her younger son, even though he was less favored by his
father (Gen 25:28; Gen 27:14 29). So, while these two women were very different, they also shared
many commonalities and they both performed actions that helped the greater power in their respective
texts to carry out a plan that did not necessarily fit into the plan the humans had in mind.
Andromache s marriage to Hector meant that her identity largely resided with her husband, the great
Trojan warrior (Rothleder discussion). Hector was all Andromache had as described in her speech to
him when she stated Hector, you are my father, you are my mother, You are my brother and my
blossoming husband (Il. 6.451 452). Andromache had already experienced the loss of her mother and
father at the hands of Achilles, and she made it very clear that she did not want to experience the pain
of losing her husband in the same way (Il. 6.35 37). Additionally, she knew that she would be nothing
without Hector, and so she begged him not to return to the fighting because she did not want him to
die. She

Nuclear Waste Is The Substance That Nuclear Fuel
Nuclear waste is the substance that nuclear fuel becomes after it has been used in a reactor. Although
the metal rods appear unchanged after their use, the material inside has changed greatly. Before it was
used to produce power, the fuel mainly consisted of uranium. In order to create heat energy in the
reactor, U235 undergoes fission. Fission is a nuclear reaction in which the nucleus of an atom splits
into smaller parts. As a result of this, there is a chain reaction which creates heat. The control rods
control the fission rate and the temperature. In the steam generator, the heat and cooling water create
pressured steam which moves the turbine. The turbine creates energy that goes into a generator which
gives off electricity. The water from the turbine is able to become usable since it gets cooled. Once a
reactor reaches its lifetime, it becomes spent fuel and is treated as waste. Most countries bury the spent
fuel or reuse it. In the U.S., we haven t decided what to do with the spent fuel so most of the spent fuel
rods are stored in temporary storage pools. In the future, the United States plans to bury the waste in
the Yucca Mountains which are located in Nevada. This would be a suitable place since it is not close
to humans or the environment. For the first part of the lab we had to go on Blackboard and open the
Spent Fuel document. We had to go to Appendix III which had some text and a chart about how much
spent fuel has been accumulated by each state. The years

The Role Of A Pharmacist Essay
Introduction
Today in the 21st century the roles of pharmacist have expanded tremendously. Before pharmacist had
the role of solely dispensing drugs. Pharmacists were limited to only being regulatory or clinical
pharmacist. Back then they were called medical purveyors who were much like today s regulatory
pharmacist and hospital pharmacist who are similar to hospital pharmacist. Now pharmacists carry
many roles in healthcare. Pharmacist can play roles in public health, community, health systems, state,
and federal government.
Leadership
Leadership can be defined as the action of leading a group of people or an organization. Pharmacist fit
the definition of what leadership means perfectly. Pharmacists lead a group of people each and
everyday from, the pharmacy technicians, the pharmacy cashiers in retail, and to the patients they
encounter each day. Also, pharmacist can help lead other healthcare leaders like medical doctors and
nurses into making the best choice for treating the patient. A pharmacist role in healthcare is to be
medicine experts and to make sure the patient is accurately treated with the right medicine. They
achieve this with a group of people not alone.
Public Health Pharmacist
The expansion of the roles pharmacist is growing so quacking that some roles have not been formally
classified. Public health pharmacist has not been formally classified at this time, but they are making a

The Energy Policy Act Of 2005
RIN Paper
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 established what is the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The RFS was
later modified by means of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and is now as we know
it today. The purpose of the RFS is to form the requirement of specified volumes of renewable fuel to
be used for certain means each year. Those means include transportation fuel, home heating oil, and
jet fuel. The creation of the RFS allows for fuel to be distributed and used properly without there
being any issues. Having this standard establishes a system that creates fair allocation and dispersal
for fuel in all facets. Requirements are also put in place to enable a secure process for managing the
fuel. A major component for the RFS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second value proposition for a RIN would be if the obligation exceeds the ability to place the
product in the market. This is not the case today as 90% of the fuel in the US continues to be gasoline
which could be blended with ethanol. The problem is that the petroleum industry simply chooses not
to blend above 10% ethanol volume in gasoline. A 15% ethanol blend, or E15, is a legal fuel approved
by EPA for approximately 75% of the cars on the road today and could easily be offered to consumers.
In addition, there are 14 million flex fuel vehicles (FFVs) on the road today that can use up to 85%
ethanol. Even a modest increase in market penetration of E85 would absorb more ethanol than is
required under the entire RFS program, thus relegating RINs to worthless status. Due to the large
profit the petroleum industry was making and the effect it had on the credibility of RFS, the oil
industry decided not to blend ethanol in volumes above 10 percent. As a result, the price of RINs was
increased significantly.
The RIN crisis was controversy and displeasure gear towards the petroleum industry, but it was also
self inflicted. The requirement for renewable fuel was passed quickly and overwhelmingly to ensure
the petroleum industry had no way of benefiting in such a negative manner again. The oil industry
now has complete and total control of the market and there hasn t been any major issues with RINs

Cyber Deterrence And Its Impact On Western Europe
What is Cyber Deterrence? Merriam Webster defines deterrence as the act of making someone decide
not to do something or the act of preventing a particular act or behavior from happening (Merriam
Webster, 2015) . This can be applied to the cyber realm in the sense that we need to deter terrorists,
state actors and non state actors from attempting attacks on U.S. networks. To understand how to
apply cyber deterrence we have to look at past policies or theories on deterrence.
Deterrence theory first appeared as part of the West s containment strategy in Europe, which aspired to
keep the Soviet Union confined to Eastern Europe and to prevent it from gaining control of Western
Europe (Kugler, 2014). If the Soviets decided to invade Western Europe with the intentions to drive to
the English Channel, the United States could launch a nuclear attack not only on Soviet troops but on
the Soviet homeland as well. The strategy was aimed at deterring conventional attack on Western
Europe by convincing the Soviet government that an invasion would not succeed and that the Soviet
Union faced unacceptable risks: if it made such an attack, it would suffer losses that far exceeded any
benefits that it might hope to gain (Kugler, 2014).
Around the 1960s the deterrence strategy began to change. The Soviet Union began to develop nuclear
tipped ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) that could reach U.S. soil in a timely manner. This
could undermine the precarious logic of deterrence by

Shortly after the start of the war, Woodrow Wilson declared a policy of neutrality. They wouldn t be

treaty one bit.
How did new technology in World War I influence warfare? Do you think this was (and continues to

New technology that appeared in World War I influenced war in many ways. There were many new
advances in technology in World War I. Major advances were things like aircraft, aircraft carriers,
tanks, and new weapons like the flamethrower. There were also small inventions and advances like
tracer bullets and mobile x ray machines. It influenced the war because it gave new ways to attack
enemies and gave the thought of having more power. With all of the advances in weapons, it
influenced to attack and try to overcome one s enemy. It also gave leaders the thought that they had
even more power with the new advances. I think that it was both a positive and negative influence. I
am more on the positive side because it helped to defeat enemies faster and may have ended the war

The Lincoln Electric Company Case Study Essay
There are plenty of reasons why Lincoln Electric Company (LEC) is successful, and a big one that
people usually credit the success to is the way it s managed. While reading the Lincoln Electric
Company Harvard Case Study by Arthur Sharplin, we learned a lot about the echo of the founder s
philosophies still very present in the company, we looked at the highly rewarding merit pay plan, and
we learned about LEC s authoritarian management style. There are plenty more reasons why LEC has
been so successful over the years but these three are mostly responsible for the productivity,
efficiency, morale, and overall satisfaction of the factory level employees and all the way up to the
President s office. A lot of people thought that once Mr. James Lincoln (better known as Jimmy Sr. )
died in 1965 that the company would stop succeeding. People thought profits would drop,
philosophies would be out of use, and the company would stop following Lincoln s system that had
led them so far. Opposite to that happened. Employee turnover rate became extremely low because of

standard that was established because Lincoln s bonuses stayed with the company even when he had

international recognition due to their revolutionary expressionistic films that set aside reality and

Applying Dina s Psychodynamic Theory According to a psychoanalytic theorist would claim that because Dina is around the age of three, her superego has not fully developed, so she acts mainly on impulse. Because of her incomplete unconscious, Dina s behavior is dictated by the id portion of her unconscious, which would explain her selfish part of her personality when it comes to what she wants. In the first several years of existence, the United States Navy was not a formidable fighting force. The young nation was hesitant to invest in a navy for many reasons, one of them being to prevent provoking the world powers of the time, France and Britain. On top of that, navies were very expensive to build and required a significant amount of resources to maintain, which the U.S. did not have at the time. To say that the United States Navy was ill prepared for war would be a dramatic understatement. The U.S. had a total of fifteen ships in its entire naval fleet compared to the might of the Royal Navy which possessed over six hundred warships. Even with the odds stacked against the U.S., President Madison declared war on 18 JUN 1812. Many of the British efforts were focused on the Napoleonic wars taking place in Europe, leaving just two dozen British ships between Halifax and Bermuda. The U.S. frigates were larger and had much more armament than those of the British giving the U.S. one more key advantage over their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teacher retention includes not only keeping the teachers who are difficult or impossible to replace, but also weeding out the teachers who need to be replaced. Districts can provide additional time such as late start or early out so that teachers have the time to work with teammates and get the planning parts of their teaching completed. Teachers, who have the time within the school day to collaborate with fellow teachers and have time to plan quality lessons, will find their jobs more satisfying (Vilson, 2015). Teacher Mr. Tortsov, teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. The Internet Is An Ocean And We Are The Fishermen San Trieu Professor Michael Hammond Rhetoric 120 Written Communications March 21, 2016 Rogerian Argument The Internet is an ocean and we are the fishermen. We immerse ourselves in a myriad of appealing fishes, all competing for our attention. We re enticed to keep making our way across the water to seek more, and sometimes fail to catch anything. This is exactly the marvel of the web, but it is also a problem. Nowadays the Internet is no longer a want, rather, it is becoming somewhat of a necessity. The rising popularity of this artificial intelligence has led to an ongoing debate regarding its influence on people s lives. The Net is undoubtedly the most influential technology after the arrival of the printing press. Computer scientists had always found ways to merge together the human s brain and computers since 1936 with the hope of creating a machine that is capable of problem solving. They aspired to produce a network plan, however, this concept of a network initially was only used for government communication and research due to its high speed connections. By the late 20th century, computer networks in the U.S expanded to commercial and business sectors, which demanded online advertising services. Teachers favored Asian American students because they were perceived as bright, hard working, better prepared, and more willing to put in effort into their homework (Lee and Zhou 17). These perceptions affected the grades Asian American students would receive, extra help were offered with their coursework and college applications, and their likelihood of being placed into academic programs and competitive academic tracks. This help further the theory of stereotype promise, in which Asian American students began to see themselves the way that teachers and society sees them with the idea of Asian American Exceptionalism. His family had died in the camp except his sister; she was the only one to survive besides him. He began to write a script while in the camps he was in (he moved to 3 different camps during the holocaust). It was called, The Doctor and The Soul. As a part of this he noticed most people believed that the gassing would be stopped or delayed right before their execution. There was always a tiny hope fluctuation around in the camps that they would live to see freedom. Once people started to lose optimism that they would survive, suicides were common and majority of the prisoners lacked enthusiasm and energy which created emotional emptiness. He thought that people had the ability to governor and choose their piety and mental stability. Frankl said that people struggled with not knowing when the torment and suffering would end. He thought that people who couldn t foresee themselves getting out lost control of their mental stability. When freedom does eventually arrive for those who had survived they had a hard time accepting it because they never thought it would happen. He states that some prisoners weren t even happy about being released. Once they were released the former prisoners had to relearn how to experience things that didn t revolve around suffering. Once the holocaust is over and everyone has been released the book goes on to describe the techniques to help people that are still mentally ill from the horrifying experience. King Lear, a play that involves the theme of man versus nature, is a perfect example of this. Edmund, one of the main evil characters in the play, must overcome the social ridicule that comes with being a bastard. In the beginning of the play, Edmund should not be blamed for how evil he acts since society refuses to respect his dignity. In any case, exploring the villains purpose and development throughout stories are important as they assist the audience in understanding why evil characters deserve to be where they end up. For this reason, villains can still have the right motives to perform evil acts as long as they are not too observed in themselves. In specific, the villains can only act evil towards the characters that have done something unjustifiably against them. • 24. Capital Punishment and Methods of Execution Capital Punishment Thirty two out of the fifty states in the United States of America accommodate to the death sentence, with Virginia being the one of the largest contributors following that of Texas. In 1976, the death sentence was reinstated by the Supreme Court; this produced the outcome of Texas holding the largest number of executions within all the states. Every year, people are brutally killed by inhumane methods of death. Who s to say whether another person has the right to live or not? By taking the life of another, is to play God. In spite of the fact that some find it to be unethical taking another man s life, about 70% of the public agree with the continuation of the death penalty. Methods of execution include lethal injection; being the first option for most, electrocution, gas chamber, hanging, and lastly by firing squad; which is only legal in two states, Oklahoma and Utah; however is it only used if lethal injection is deemed unconstitutional. Many Countries support this ideal; however, there are those who greatly oppose of it. According to the writers on Religioustolerance.org, Some countries, such as Italy, routinely refuse to extradite accused murderers to the US because of the possibility that they might be executed. Canada originally refused to extradite suspected mass murderer Charles Ng to California for a trial. The government ruling was later overturned by Canada s Supreme Court. Meta Analytic Connectivity Of Bilateral Thalamus Discussion Meta analytic Connectivity of Bilateral Thalamus The aim of our study was to compare and characterize the coactivations of LT and RT. By performing a conjunction analysis LT∩RT we found that each of our ROIs shared coactivations with cerebellar thalamic cortical circuit. Within the cortex, convergence of LT and RT MACAMs occurred in right superior temporal, right and left precentral, bilateral parietal and left supplementary motor area, which is involved in cognitive aspects of performance (Kim et al., 1994; Mushiake and strick, 1995; Gao et al., 1996; for review, see Middleton and Strick, 1997) such as working memory, planning, and rule based learning (Middleton and Strick, 2001). Taylor et al. in 2009 stated that thalamus is the most likely canditate as direct projection to insula and cingulate. Cerebelum thalamus insula cingulate regions seems to be part of the salience network and an executive control network conecting the frontal cortex with parietal cortex (Seely et al.,2007 and Dosenbach et al., 2007). The salience networks detects salient environmental changes independently of the modality of the task employed (i.e., visual, auditory, tactile, pain) (Hutchison et al, 1999; Downar et al. 2000, 2002, 2003; Seely et al. 2007; Taylor et al. 2009). Previous research has also identificated anterior insula and dorsal anterior cingulate cortex as a frontoparietal control network, that may indirectly contribute to episodic memory recall such as goal directed selection for stimulus and responses and may mediate these functions by integrating information from external and internal sources or across multiple domains such as attention or working memory ... • 26. Biography of Helen Keller How would you feel if you were famous at a young age just for overcoming deaf and blindness? Helen Keller was one of the few people back in her time to become really famous over something she couldn t help. Helen was famous because of how she was able to make things better for children and adults with disabilities, and while she did this she had no forms of communication. Helen actually wasn t deaf and blind; she was born perfectly normal in a small town in Alabama called Tuscumbia on June 27, 1880. Due to a sickness believed to be Scarlet Fever; Keller lost her ability to see and hear at the age about nineteen months. In the progressing years of her life Helen became crazy and somewhat bad. In the beginning period of Helen s talking it had been difficult because she had gotten confused; soon enough her teacher Anne had taken her to a water pump, put her hand under it, and showed Keller the association between the running water and the spelling of the word. Helen had went to a blind school and that is where she met her long time teacher Anne Sullivan. In the year of 1898 Cambridge School for Young Ladies gained Helen as a student when she was preparing to go to Radcliffe for college. Keller certainly has seemed to have a tough background, but she ends up pushing through it and has a great future. Helen s biggest accomplishment is finding ways to get past her lost senses. • 27. The Roles Of Divine Power-Supportinga In Iliad And God In... Divine powers moira in Iliad and God in Genesis drove the actions of Andromache and Rebekah, who in turn influenced action in their respective stories (Rothleder discussion). Andromache s influence was largely due to the way she interacted with her husband Hector, who was a great warrior on the side of the Trojans in the Trojan war (Il. p. 500). Similarly, in Genesis, Rebekah s abilities to control domestic resources brought blessings to her younger son, even though he was less favored by his father (Gen 25:28; Gen 27:14 29). So, while these two women were very different, they also shared many commonalities and they both performed actions that helped the greater power in their respective texts to carry out a plan that did not necessarily fit into the plan the humans had in mind. Andromache s marriage to Hector meant that her identity largely resided with her husband, the great Trojan warrior (Rothleder discussion). Hector was all Andromache had as described in her speech to him when she stated Hector, you are my father, you are my mother, You are my brother and my blossoming husband (Il. 6.451 452). Andromache had already experienced the loss of her mother and father at the hands of Achilles, and she made it very clear that she did not want to experience the pain of losing her husband in the same way (Il. 6.35 37). Additionally, she knew that she would be nothing without Hector, and so she begged him not to return to the fighting because she did not want him to die. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Nuclear Waste Is The Substance That Nuclear Fuel Nuclear waste is the substance that nuclear fuel becomes after it has been used in a reactor. Although the metal rods appear unchanged after their use, the material inside has changed greatly. Before it was used to produce power, the fuel mainly consisted of uranium. In order to create heat energy in the reactor, U235 undergoes fission. Fission is a nuclear reaction in which the nucleus of an atom splits into smaller parts. As a result of this, there is a chain reaction which creates heat. The control rods control the fission rate and the temperature. In the steam generator, the heat and cooling water create pressured steam which moves the turbine. The turbine creates energy that goes into a generator which gives off electricity. The water from the turbine is able to become usable since it gets cooled. Once a reactor reaches its lifetime, it becomes spent fuel and is treated as waste. Most countries bury the spent fuel or reuse it. In the U.S., we haven t decided what to do with the spent fuel so most of the spent fuel rods are stored in temporary storage pools. In the future, the United States plans to bury the waste in the Yucca Mountains which are located in Nevada. This would be a suitable place since it is not close to humans or the environment. We had to go to Appendix III which had some text and a chart about how much spent fuel has been accumulated by each state. The years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The RFS was later modified by means of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and is now as we know it today. The purpose of the RFS is to form the requirement of specified volumes of renewable fuel to be used for certain means each year. Those means include transportation fuel, home heating oil, and jet fuel. The creation of the RFS allows for fuel to be distributed and used properly without there being any issues. Having this standard establishes a system that creates fair allocation and dispersal for fuel in all facets. Requirements are also put in place to enable a secure process for managing the fuel. This is not the case today as 90% of the fuel in the US continues to be gasoline which could be blended with ethanol. The problem is that the petroleum industry simply chooses not to blend above 10% ethanol volume in gasoline. A 15% ethanol blend, or E15, is a legal fuel approved by EPA for approximately 75% of the cars on the road today and could easily be offered to consumers. In addition, there are 14 million flex fuel vehicles (FFVs) on the road today that can use up to 85% ethanol. Even a modest increase in market penetration of E85 would absorb more ethanol than is required under the entire RFS program, thus relegating RINs to worthless status. Due to the large profit the petroleum industry was making and the effect it had on the credibility of RFS, the oil industry decided not to blend ethanol in volumes above 10 percent. As a result, the price of RINs was increased significantly. The RIN crisis was controversy and displeasure gear towards the petroleum industry, but it was also self inflicted. • 32. Cyber Deterrence And Its Impact On Western Europe What is Cyber Deterrence? Merriam Webster defines deterrence as the act of making someone decide not to do something or the act of preventing a particular act or behavior from happening (Merriam Webster, 2015) . This can be applied to the cyber realm in the sense that we need to deter terrorists, state actors and non state actors from attempting attacks on U.S. networks. To understand how to apply cyber deterrence we have to look at past policies or theories on deterrence. Deterrence theory first appeared as part of the West s containment strategy in Europe, which aspired to keep the Soviet Union confined to Eastern Europe and to prevent it from gaining control of Western Europe (Kugler, 2014). If the Soviets decided to invade Western Europe with the intentions to drive to the English Channel, the United States could launch a nuclear attack not only on Soviet troops but on the Soviet homeland as well. The strategy was aimed at deterring conventional attack on Western Europe by convincing the Soviet government that an invasion would not succeed and that the Soviet Union faced unacceptable risks: if it made such an attack, it would suffer losses that far exceeded any benefits that it might hope to gain (Kugler, 2014). Around the 1960s the deterrence strategy began to change. The Soviet Union began to develop nuclear tipped ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) that could reach U.S. soil in a timely manner. This could undermine the precarious logic of deterrence by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are plenty more reasons why LEC has been so successful over the years but these three are mostly responsible for the productivity, efficiency, morale, and overall satisfaction of the factory level employees and all the way up to the President s office.
